Great food, super friendly service. Excellent beer and the prices were more than reasonable. We spent barely thirty euros for lunch for two on Sunday.

Super cool spot. I really love the beer that comes out of this brewery, so going here was like a magical Christmas dream 😆 the restaurant is small, but cozy. It is not a fancy restaurant either, so for us it was a place that we can be ourselves. The food was really good. I'm looking forward to our next visit.

I visited the Schanzenbräu pub today and was pleasantly surprised. The food is down-to-earth, delicious, and served without any fuss – simply well-prepared. I was particularly impressed by the Schanzenbräu beer: fresh, full of character, and perfectly balanced. The pub itself is unpretentious and cozy, and you quickly feel at ease. The service was attentive and friendly without being pretentious. All in all: A really great place for a relaxed meal and some excellent beers. I'll definitely be back.

Delicious, traditional Franconian dishes like Nuremberg sausages, Franconian sausages, roast pork, Scheufele, and much more. Daily specials change. Super friendly service, fair prices. When the weather's nice, the cozy beer garden is a great place to relax. The Bärenschanze subway station is just a few minutes' walk away.

A great pub atmosphere with delicious home-brewed beer and very friendly, attentive, and fast service. I highly recommend the Franconian bratwurst. I highly recommend making a reservation, as it was packed even on a Monday. I still managed to get a seat.

Covered garden tables on gravel. Everything is a bit dated. Only outside in summer, no bar inside. After a trip to the justice grounds (exit at Bärenschanze), this is a real recommendation if you're not into hip foreign bistro bars (which are plentiful in the area). The chef puts a lot of effort into it. Two thick meatballs with mashed potatoes for €14.80 satisfied three people and left them feeling full. The ladies really liked the semolina flammerie (€6.40). Gutmann wheat beer, Fritz Cola. Typical neighborhood bar. We weren't dissatisfied, but it was still too "ordinary" for a huge review.

Beer garden-typical and Franconian food, various beers, fast service, well attended

I was looking for a nearby beer garden with a friend. We ended up at Schanzenbräu because I really like the beer anyway. What can I say... I had a sour Zipfel (a kind of beer), which tasted almost as good as if it were made by my grandma. It reminded me of my grandpa, who loved them just as much as I did. The atmosphere was great! And the atmosphere was super nice and fast. I'll definitely be coming more often! It's a shame I didn't get there sooner. Update: I've become addicted and I go there almost every week for a Helles and three sour beers!

My Schäufele was so good I am still dreaming about it. The garden is cosy and sweet. Locals come there for beer and dinner. I like the neighbourhood too. I'll be back for sure.

We ordered 2 Schäufele. The pork was quite salty so we had to order Blaukraut to counteract the saltiness. As for the sauce, the atmosphere is good and suitable for a group of friends. If the table is full, try asking at a table with an empty chair if you can sit with them. The people here are nice and you might even make new friends.

We discovered this place on Google and took Paul's recommendation, who then proved to be a friendly waiter, open to conversation toward the end of the evening when the outdoor seating was winding down. We were recommended excellent local dishes, including the roast pork shoulder. The German beer was good. We were in great company and enjoyed the stories and tales. 100% recommended.

A small, charming beer garden in the heart of Nuremberg. The daily menu changes regularly and features Franconian home-style cooking. The location is nice and well-frequented. However, the quality of the food is rather mediocre. We went there twice: the first time, it was really good, but the second time, it tasted more like processed food.

I was there with friends. Nice beer garden with an exciting atmosphere. A cross between a garden club and an alternative chill zone in a beer garden. The cheese board was mediocre. The Emmental cheese was crumbly, the Obazda cheese was too lumpy, the bread crust was barely there, and there weren't many pickles or salads. Not bad, but just average. The beer selection was good, but the wheat beer was a bit too warm on tap. The staff were mostly friendly, but one of the waitresses was a bit rude.

The five of us weren't allowed to sit at the back table, but a family with two small children were allowed to sit there without any problems. Afterwards, the waiter pointed out to us that we should smoke together and not all sit one behind the other because there are two children in the beer garden.

I can only agree with Yannic, the guy outside the bar was absolutely rude to his (seemingly new) employee. Yelling and yelling at him is a no-go! How would he feel if he were the new guy somewhere and was treated like that!?

The drinks are great. The service is very attentive; unfortunately, the roulade was very dry and the sauce was quite salty. My colleague liked everything, so all in all, it's a great place to eat and relax for a while. I think the food will be mostly good, too.

Outside: Crust like tree bark in spring. Inside: Tender as the first rumble of dawn. Dumpling: so round and golden, I wanted to adopt it. Then I ate it. Sauce: could be sold as a dip. For the soul. ⸻ 🍺 The beer: Red beer. Unfiltered. Serious. It tastes like a sunset over Nuremberg Castle – when you weigh 300 kg and prefer to stay in the shade. I drink four. Nobody says anything. A guy with a mustache toasts me. I don't understand him, but we nod in unison. ⸻ Conclusion: I came as a forest animal with a hunger. I left as a regular with an expanded consciousness. I'm now officially a Bärenschanzenbürger. I'll take over the dishwasher next week. And maybe the evening menu too.

The service from one of the middle-aged waitresses was very unpleasant: inappropriate looks and comments from the moment we sat down. We had booked for 10 people, but three more ended up arriving. When we mentioned this, we were told they would only add chairs, no tables. What was supposed to be a pleasant gathering was marred by such rude treatment. However, the food was good, and both the young waitress and the waiter were very friendly and professional.

A German restaurant that I visited because it was near my accommodation. There were a lot of outdoor tables, so I could drink beer outside. Even though there were a lot of people, everything was served within 10 minutes after ordering. The food was a bit salty for Koreans, so beer was a must. I didn't expect much from the schnitzel, but it was buttery and crispy, and really delicious!! It goes well with the potato salad that comes with it. I also had the basic Frankenwurst. The beef goulash was too salty for the price, so I don't recommend it! Draft beer was 4.5 euros, so I had helles and dark beer and it was delicious.

Beautiful restaurant with a cozy beer garden in the backyard under the trees. Very delicious food and craft beer. Away from the tourist crowds.

The food was very good, the shoulder of pork with dumplings was excellent. The meat was nice and tender, the crust was nice and crispy. The dumplings melted in your mouth, praise to the kitchen. The entire team was on first-name terms, which fits the ambiance very well. There were seven of us and we were very satisfied. The price was also very good for the quality of the food.

A regular haunt for over 10 years. Good beer, Franconian cuisine with a weekly blackboard menu, a small but very cozy beer garden, and a rustic interior. Until 5:00 PM, you can always find a seat inside for two people without a reservation.

The waiter put us off twice, and the third time, the waitress took pity on us, looked at our table, and noticed that the payment hadn't been made. Then she left without a word. This is where a bit of expectation management comes in handy. If you want to experience a good, middle-class and authentic Franconian economy, this is the right place for you. The food was simple but absolutely delicious! The beer is of course good Nürnberger Schanzenbräu and also very good. Service is Franconian friendly and the atmosphere in the guest room is warm. You quickly get into conversation with others and can chat a bit informally.

Undoubtedly rustic restaurant, with a rough character: I would compare the environment to an 80s tavern, with tables and chairs with very little furniture but overall they give a character as mentioned above... rough! The menu, well explained by the innkeeper, is listed on several clearly visible blackboards and includes a fixed offer and a weekly offer. The fixed dishes reflect the menus found in the area, with different offers on the weekly one and are presented like the restaurant, simple but with their own character and flavor that makes you feel at home. A main room and garden are available, the service is managed quickly and dynamically.

It was okay. We weren't really assigned a spot. I think the staff could act better with more coordination. The food was excellent. Respect for that. However, the staff was really uncoordinated and disorganized. E.g. Several waitresses were with us in a short time and asked us for drinks. A little more coordination would be good and complement the other qualities of the pub

A beautiful restaurant with a fantastic beer garden. The in-house beer is classic Franconian good and also diverse! Seasonal cuisine with a decent Franconian basic menu. Always vegetarian/vegan dishes on the menu. Particularly noteworthy for me is the Franconian “Grupfte” (Obazda)! Highly recommended in the middle of Nuremberg

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed... we spontaneously came over for dinner and asked at the entrance if there was room for two people, whereupon we were told rather abruptly that we should have a look ourselves, she didn't know. After we found a seat, a friendly waitress came and said she would come straight to us. The lady at the entrance came in the meantime and took our drinks, or at least we thought they were forgotten. After half an hour we finally got it, but we had to wait 1 hour and 15 minutes for the food. Schnitzel tasted really good but the roulade was super tiny. Unfortunately, no waiter came for a while and the ketchup that was ordered with the schnitzel was also forgotten to bring. Really a shame...

Rustic beer garden with good food

I was spontaneously at the Schanzenbräu on April 12, 2025 around 4:30 p.m., the warmest day of the year so far. Unfortunately, they missed setting up enough tables in the beer garden or did they have an official requirement that there had to be fewer? Then I just wanted to enjoy a beer in the mug and stand on the edge. It was crazy, you were allowed to drink a beer in a bottle, but the landlord didn't want to provide beer mugs to guests without a seat, according to the staff at the bar in the restaurant. Okay then drink the delicious, unfiltered, naturally cloudy top beer yourself from the bottle, I'll be back when you get it together.

The food was excellent. There was spaetzle and apple juice from a glass bottle and afterwards Kaiserschmarn, which is highly recommended. The service is always trying hard.

The Schanzenbräu is very traffic-oriented in a residential area. It's good and easy to get to. The food was very tasty and was freshly prepared. It was seasoned properly and I had no complaints. The staff is very nice and quite quick with orders. The atmosphere is “quaint”. If you like glamor and luxury, you're probably in the wrong place. But in my opinion the price-performance ratio is suitable, even very good. Unfortunately, parking spaces are very difficult to find. The restaurant does not have its own parking spaces. I had to search for about 15 minutes until I found a parking space. But it didn't have a negative impact on my overall impression. When I'm back in Nuremberg, I'll come here again. I can definitely recommend it to everyone.

The beer is very good, all the dishes tasted good, were down-to-earth and plentiful. The restaurant was packed on a Wednesday evening, but the service was still very attentive. Although it wasn't really beer garden weather yet, we sat there briefly due to the lack of indoor space, which is definitely a highlight in the summer.
