Absolutely amazing restaurant with amazing food and beers. The bar is clearly frequented by locals and you will immediately know why once you taste their beers and snacks. I tried the red beer in their menu and I was pleasantly surprised by it so my advice is to go out of your comfort zone and try the more unique items on the menu, although you can stick with the delicious traditional options as well.

Very tasty traditional food, our vegan and vegetarian fellow guests were also incredibly impressed and very satisfied. The service is really human and friendly. Nice ambience, great mix of customers and a homely feeling. Thanks.

The prices are quite expensive by Nuremberg standards. The vegan schnitzel was tasty, but at most half the size of the other schnitzels, and the fries cost an extra €6, which, without any salad or anything else, brought the total to around €24. The other dishes were also not good value for money. The location is, of course, great, but you can get much cheaper in a similar setting in Nuremberg.

Sauerkraut was delicious and the drinks were very expensive. The waiter was very friendly. However, the ambience is old-fashioned and gloomy.

It was ok. The dessert was good. The beer was particularly good, local red beer with a super good taste.

Can't understand the many positive reviews. Were there before 6 p.m., so the restaurant was pretty empty. Food arrived 2 minutes after ordering. Flädlesuppe lukewarm with almost mushy egg strips. Roast pork with dumplings and sauerkraut was also only lukewarm. The sauce was thickened with so much starch... Potato and cucumber salad like the previous speaker was something from the bucket with a few slices of raw cucumber placed on top. It's a shame because the service and ambience were good. But food is not recommended. Oh yes, and two slices of bread as a side dish cost €2.90

The location on the first floor, after climbing a long and steep staircase, with a view of the main market, is great. The Franconian ambience is ok, the service is friendly and quick. You shouldn't be bothered by being called by your first name. I think the prices are overpriced! To put it mildly...

I found it quite tasty, but not for the price. I had the 9 sausages and as an extra "2 slices of farmer's bread". I think the bread cost 2.50 or even 3.50 and was really just 2 very normal slices of gray bread, I have no idea whether they were from the bakery, so to me it tasted like bread from the supermarket. The slices were also cold and came without butter or dip. Similar with the dessert: it cost between 7 and 8 euros (a kind of chocolate cake), it was quite small, it was actually quite tasty but the consistency wasn't spectacular either... and given the price/size I would have expected more. Positive: it's nice to sit there and the beer was really great. If you mainly want to drink and chat and then eat something not too heavy and you don't have to watch the penny, you can have a great evening there. But I'm also a tourist, so maybe the prices in Nuremberg are just like that.

Recommended restaurant if you want to try authentic German food, I loved their typical dish called Schnitzel, very punctual service, cozy atmosphere so you can visit as a couple or as a family if you want, I highly recommend it, when I return to Nuremberg I would not hesitate to return again.

For a Franconian inn, the Schäufala is absolutely terrible! Meat tough, 1/4 of the crust burnt and the rest is limp. Kniedla isn't even the size of a tangerine, but at least it's raw dumpling. Dark beer sauce was satisfactory, however. Back to the meat: Even the local clinic has better Schäufala. Drinks are also very expensive. However, service was nice and quick Food in itself is a disgrace for Nuremberg and Franconian cuisine

We ordered food to take home here. It was very tasty, but unfortunately way too expensive for what it was. The Cordon Bleu and the Schnitzel were relatively small for a German restaurant and cost significantly more than average. 24 euros for a small cordon bleu with a normal portion of fries is just too much. The delivery was great and went very quickly.

That was nothing Food of absolutely poor quality at very high prices. If I order a schnitzel at that price, I expect it to at least be prepared in the pan and not in the deep fryer. Very thin and simply dry in taste. I can go to a snack bar straight away. The portions are generally very small and the prices are really horrendous. For water in a 0.75 liter carafe without a line, I think 7.50 euros is very sporty. Also for the location it is simply too expensive for the quality. For a mini goose breast and two mini dumplings 34 euros phew and not particularly tasty either. Once and never again, absolutely not recommended.

Unfortunately not recommended. We were there as a team event. The dumpling with mushroom sauce contained 2 large pieces of fat, the duck wasn't crispy, and the schnitzel wasn't great either. Frozen fries from the supermarket. The ambience is great, you have a nice view over the square. The service was also good. Now if the food was just right... it's a shame, it's a real shame

The restaurant is very well located in the city and is cozy. Unfortunately there was only a small menu. Two of these dishes were not available at New Year's Day. We had to wait a very long time for the food even though it wasn't full. The dish we had, Schäufele with dumplings, is not recommended. The meat has a flaky rind like pork knuckle and is far too fatty. The meal for almost €24 is far too expensive. We also told the waitress this and only received an apology and they knew that this was not okay. It stayed that way 😠.

Very good food, large portions. Prices are a bit high, but adequate to the fact that the restaurant is right in the old town. A big plus for traditional Franconian dishes. The only minus was the waiting time for dessert, because while we got the main courses very quickly, we had to wait a good 25 minutes for dessert. The service was nice and helpful

unfortunately not recommended! The service is really bad, the waitress is unfriendly and inexperienced. After 40 minutes we were told there was no schnitzel and that became apparent after over 40 minutes. From that point on we had to wait again for over half an hour. When the food finally came, one dish came after another and everyone ate alone. Drinks were already empty and it was also very cold in the restaurant. The food was ok, nothing special and unseasoned. Everything tasted like it had just been warmed up.

Das Restaurant liegt sehr gut in der City und ist gemütlich. Es gab leider nur eine kleine Speisekarte. Zu Neujahr standen davon zwei Gerichte nicht zur Verfügung. Das Essen was wir hatten, Schäufele mit Klößen, ist nicht zu empfehlen. Das Fleisch hat eine lapprige Schwarte wie beim Eisbein und ist viel zu fett. Das Essen für fast 24€ ist dafür viel zu teuer. Dies hatten wir der Bedienung auch mitgeteilt und bekamen nur eine Entschuldigung und man wisse, dass dies nicht in Ordnung ist. Dabei blieb es 😠.

The waiter was wonderful and the review is just about the food. It was fine but menu was limited. In addition to limited menu, they were out of their two main entrees. I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here a there are plenty of food options around every corner.

Salad full of sand. The dumplings made my wife sick. Soup lukewarm. There was no bread with butter for our daughter because the chef doesn't have/don't want butter in his restaurant. Bizarre. I want to share my unpleasant experience in this restaurant. After they seated us at a table, we had to get and look at the menus ourselves, even though there were no more than 7-8 occupied tables in the restaurant, which were already served. There were two waiters, the younger one came first, but after we were not ready with the order, the older one with a mustache came next. I ordered two beers, the largest number of sausages and we wanted rosschi, but he put his hand on the menu and said he didn't have any. He offered us fries and we agreed. I repeated the order to him at the end and he nodded and said yes, ok. The sausages and beer came quickly, most likely they were baked in advance, because it didn't look like they were freshly baked. Other customers came with whom we ordered together and they were already finishing their dinner when I told the waiters that I had forgotten fries that were gone. The waiter with the mustache, first said that we didn't order, which was a lie, and then asked if we wanted fries that would come in three minutes. I said no. Then he started apologizing, which was the right thing to do at the very beginning, not to lie. Finally, when I asked for the bill, he wanted to give us drinks, which we also refused. BE VERY CAREFUL in this restaurant, if they lie about such a small thing, imagine what happens in even more serious situations

Didn't like it at all. Only 2 types of soup and tasteless. Very salty, no bread was given. Portions are small. Nuremberg sausages are normal, but not super tasty, so small. Prices do not correspond to portions.

Es war insgesamt sehr schön, das Personal war super freundlich und aufmerksam und war vor allem super lieb zu unserer Tochter. Wir haben eine Anmerkung zum Essen beim Service abgegeben, diese wurde professionell aufgenommen. Das Essen war sehr gut und es wurde sehr darauf geachtet, genügend Zeit zwischen den Gängen des Menüs zu lassen und auch nachgefragt, ob es gerade passend ist. Sehr angenehm 😌
