⸻ Disappointing meal at Scarabée in Bielefeld – unfortunately not recommended We were with several people at the Scarabée restaurant in Bielefeld and were unfortunately very disappointed. I chose the fileto dish with tagliatelle and strips of beef fillet – a dish that, at €24.90, isn't exactly cheap. This made the disappointment all the greater: The meat was completely overcooked, tough as a shoe sole, and the sauce was barely edible. It was extremely sour, as far too many pickled green peppercorns had been used – the whole dish tasted bitter and unbalanced. The portion size was also disappointing – pasta and a few pieces of meat certainly didn't justify the price. The restaurant itself was barely busy – which, in retrospect, didn't surprise us. The only bright spot was the friendly, helpful service. But unfortunately, good service alone isn't enough when the food isn't at all impressive. We definitely won't be returning – a shame!

Very nice ambiance at the Wiesenbad. The service is attentive, and the value for money is good. The couscous from the tagine is highly recommended. We will definitely come again.

We had breakfast at Scarabae today. The service was fantastic. I haven't experienced anything this good in a long time. The breakfast was delicious. A very good selection and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was very cozy and it was very clean! We felt very comfortable and will definitely come back! Many thanks to the staff!

I went there for dinner with my mother two weeks ago on a Saturday. I had reserved a table for 5:30 p.m., which was a good thing. Even though the restaurant was still empty at the time, the place filled up pretty quickly. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. What I was a bit disappointed about, however, was the tonic I received with my gin. It makes my heart bleed a little when my Hendricks is drowning in Schweppes - on my last visit, which was a while ago, it was served with Thomas Henry. Before any malicious tongues say I didn't mention it, I did, and even the menu only lists Schweppes. The goblets used to look nicer than the current glasses and the thick gherkin slices :) But all in all, a lovely evening, and I'll definitely be back!

We arrived at 7 p.m. on a Monday, and there was NO ONE else there. Since it was quite warm, we sat outside... the outdoor pool was right next door. We had a clear view of the men changing in our direction. The food... was difficult. The bruschetta wasn't particularly tasty, and the steak that followed was far from cooked to perfection. The sad highlight, however, were the king prawns. From the very first bite, I had an extremely fishy, ​​old taste in my mouth. Unfortunately, they didn't look or smell fresh at all. The service was really nice and even offered us desserts on the house, but that couldn't save the evening.

I've been wanting to eat here for a while and have finally gotten around to it. We ordered the meat platter for two people and a few other things. The meat platter would probably be enough for 3-4 people; it was really quite a lot. I particularly enjoyed the chicken skewers. The lamb shanks had a very distinctive flavor; it reminded me a bit of red wine sauce, but the waiter assured me that they don't use alcohol, that it's a slow-cooking method, and that they use special spices. I thought it was quite tasty, but my companion didn't. The meat underneath (I think it was the beef?) was a bit disappointing in my opinion. On the other hand, the side salads and dips were very good. The dessert was also delicious. Two small points deducted for the service, as we weren't really taken into account by the waiter, even though she was very nice. Perhaps it was due to the event that evening, but in any case, we had to wait a very long time for everything (the food took almost an hour), and we even had to wait almost 15 minutes for the bill.

It was a lunch, and I was completely satisfied. The food, service, and atmosphere were lovely.

We've been here several times - and there will definitely be more! The food is delicious and worth the price, the service is attentive, friendly and prompt and the atmosphere is beautifully bright, modern and yet cozy. When it comes to the price-performance level, you have to say that for 16.90€ (as of April 2025) there is such a variation that there shouldn't be any unfulfilled wishes! For a small additional charge for the milk, you can also get a latte macchiatto or cappuccino instead of the free Café Crema. The quality and quantity of the food is more than you can expect for the price! Mega delicious, thank you for the good service, we'll be happy to come back! 🫶🏼👍🏼

We were there for Easter breakfast and we were unfortunately disappointed. The service is very, very slow, you can easily wait 20 minutes for a Café Crema. But otherwise very friendly. The buffet is good and offers variety. At the beginning it was explained to us how things work with the drinks, namely that you have coffee with them and everything else with milk costs 30 cents extra. In the end no one knew anything about it & we had to pay for the remaining coffee. (3 other people also understood the same thing about the coffee) But it was a blast at the end: when we paid we were told that only cash payment would be possible today because the boss had handed over the card machines (???). Every reservation was called, but my number was wrong. Funnily enough, the number was correct, so we were coldly lied to. All in all it was ok, unfortunately the service is not yet up to par and communication with the guests still needs to be worked on.

I passed this building so many times without realising how amazing it is! It has a good energy to it. The waiters are nice and friendly. From my point of view there could be more vegan options :) Beside that it's really cool. I won't go again for food but definitely for drinks.

As always, the food was very tasty, amazing mezze plate and lamb shank also perfect.

A cozy setting with an intimate atmosphere, well decorated, the food deserves 5 stars plus, the oriental lamb is a must, delicious! I celebrated my birthday there. Overall the food was tasty except for the lamb which had an unpleasant smell. This indicates that it was prepared incorrectly. Also, if you want to celebrate something there, be prepared to pay 25 euros to bring your own cake. This means that I had to pay an additional 25 euros for my own cake, my own candles and my own matches. After asking the staff what exactly this fee is for, I received no answer. The cocktails were not fully prepared because a special device for foam decoration was broken. In addition, the air conditioning was broken, so it was quite cold in the room. I cannot recommend this restaurant and will definitely not go there again.

As a long-term visitor, I can say with certainty that the Scarabaé is a much-needed place in Bielefeld. The atmosphere is simply unbeatable – stylish, cozy and with a touch of Mediterranean flair. Every time I visit the Scarabaé I feel like I'm on vacation. The menu is diverse and offers a wonderful selection of Mediterranean and Oriental dishes. The mezze platters and exotic cocktails are particularly enjoyable. The service is always attentive and friendly, which makes the stay even more pleasant. A special highlight was the legendary New Year's Eve celebration that I experienced at Scarabaé. The atmosphere was fantastic, the music was great and the food was simply heavenly. It was an unforgettable night that was perfectly organized and that I will remember for a long time. The Scarabaé is definitely a place that Bielefeld urgently needed. It's the perfect place to meet up with friends, celebrate special occasions or just enjoy a relaxing evening. I highly recommend it to everyone!

Im Oktober habe ich einen Tisch für 2 Personen in diesem Restaurant reserviert, Mitarbeiterin ruft mich an und macht mich drauf aufmerksam das an diesem Abend bis zu einer bestimmten Uhrzeit nur Buffet angeboten wird. War kein Problem für uns. Als wir angekommen sind waren wir doch etwas sehr enttäuscht über das kleine Buffet (Da die normale Speisekarte sehr umfangreich ist) und wir haben im Nachhinein 40€ p.P. für dieses Buffet ausgegeben. Mit allem zusammen waren wir bei über 100€. Ambiente und Mitarbeiter waren Top aber das Essen war nicht gut, so habe ich es auch bei Google geschrieben. Prompt wurde meine Rezension gelöscht wegen "Verleumdung". So viel dazu 👌🏻 Empfehle ich nicht.

We had dinner at Scarabaè on Saturday evening and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The reserved table was available immediately and the service was very friendly. We never waited long for anything. The food tasted and looked great. Clear recommendation, we would love to come back.

My wife, children and I had an excellent meal here on November 15, 2024. The reception was problem-free, the service was very courteous and helpful. The food came reasonably quickly. We ate a mezz platter as a starter. We divided these into four. My wife had salmon, I had lamb shank, my kids had a burger and chicken skewers. All the dishes were really great. While we were there there was live music and a belly dancer. We'll definitely come again.

I went with my colleagues for dinner, place has a really nice atmosphere and decoration. Food was delicious, but not super amazing. Staff was kind!

My friend and I wanted to go out for a fancy meal here yesterday. An employee pointed out to me that there would be a buffet until 10 p.m. and that we couldn't order from the menu. No problem for us, but when we arrived we were very disappointed by the really small buffet. You can have the food at any wedding and we spent €40 per person on it... In my opinion, far too much for so little. We definitely won't be coming back.

The restaurant is very nicely decorated, the food tastes great and the portions are also okay. Unfortunately the service is not. The first round of drinks took forever from ordering to delivery, the second round was completely canceled despite repeated requests. Ultimately we paid, which was surprisingly quick. Very unfortunate. The smell in the toilet was also extremely unpleasant. Next time we'll look for another location for the girls' evening.

Yesterday we were in this restaurant for the first time, which I didn't know about until then. The occasion was a comedy event. We were a group of six people and really enjoyed the stay! We had very different starters and main courses, lentil soup, lamb, starter platter, burgers etc. We were all very happy with the food and drinks, despite the full house there was attentive service and a really nice atmosphere! I will definitely go here again for dinner soon!

We went there by chance and were immediately impressed. After we received a very friendly welcome, we were assigned a table. The food was very tasty and beautifully prepared, and despite it being busy, my special requests were fulfilled: thank you again. Service was top and the entertainment program was fantastic. If we travel to Bielefeld again: the first date will be at Scarabaé.

We were there yesterday for the Greek Night. Very nice atmosphere, attentive service. The drinks (cocktails) took a little longer but were good. Greek music mixed with current titles, belly dancers fit the event. What really disappointed us was the food. The bifteki was more reminiscent of a ready meal from the supermarket shelf. Neither the typical roasted aromas nor a grill pattern, simply "drowned" in sauce. The fries served with it tasted like oil that was too cold or out of date. Any Greek snack bar can do it better. Simply disappointing for the price. Another dish from the standard menu was also only lower category. Unfortunately not recommended as a bar, but unfortunately not as a restaurant.

Many would think, why does a guest take so much time to rate a restaurant? Yes, despite family, children, job, I take the time so that the same thing doesn't happen to you as it did to us. We have reserved a table for 5 people in writing to have a nice girls' evening in connection with a farewell. The atmosphere is very nice and we got a great table. The table was not set for 5 people but at least for 7. That's just a side note, where I clearly ask myself the question of why we reserve a table if it isn't prepared for us beforehand?! By the way, the weather was very pleasant that summer evening and we were not averse to sitting outside. But according to the waitress, this wasn't possible because otherwise the neighborhood would complain. The table was reserved for 7 p.m.!!!!! The menu is very unusual... few simple starters that you could enjoy with a cocktail in the evening. Also totally overpriced in my opinion. The price-performance ratio clearly doesn't match for me. We chose a warm dish, a cheese plate and a fruit plate. Drinks and food recommendations were not given because the waitress was not informed and did not know her way around. A belly dancer came and danced really well. Unfortunately, you have to know in advance that it is very loud. You can't have a proper conversation at the table. As we tried to release a few balloons into the air on the terrace, we heard a bang. After a few minutes we went back inside. During the conversation, we didn't notice that the guests suddenly got up and headed towards the exit. Only when we asked what had happened were we all told to leave the restaurant immediately. We were told to get out, there was a fire! We just took our handbags and went out. There was a little smoke coming from the parking lot. I got into my vehicle and drove out of the parking lot just to the street directly in front of the driveway. We were all standing on the street, several fire engines came. The road was closed. Several ambulances arrived. A man had to be given oxygen. We were also asked if we needed help and if we were okay. Luckily we were spared but the shock stuck. After spending some time outside, we drove. We wanted to spend some more time together because that evening we said goodbye to a friend who was leaving the country. We sat down on the terrace at home with a few drinks. And then the unexpected call came from the “restaurant” telling us to come back immediately and pay the bill. The “boss” of the house threatened us that it would probably be a crime to simply drive away. When we asked how long we should have waited, the unfriendly gentleman said: “As long as it has to be”. Impudence!!!!!! The tone was anything but appropriate and we couldn't make excuses because the gentleman was completely unfriendly and uncomprehending. It's not every day that you meet such an incompetent employee in the catering industry. Apart from the fact that we couldn't finish the whole cheese plate and didn't finish the last drinks, the "boss" sent us the complete bill by email, which even showed drinks that we didn't consume. I ask myself whether the catering industry is still taught the subject of guest orientation in the hotel management school?! We paid our bill in full BUT I would definitely not enter the “restaurant” again.

Terrible service! Sat for an hour waiting for lemonade. I went to the waitress and asked her to bring my order and she said it was being prepared. I waited another 30 minutes without waiting for my order and decided to leave. As I was leaving the restaurant, the waitress saw me and pointed to the counter and said, "Your lemonade will be ready in 5 minutes and I'll bring it to you.")

Wir hatten den Rucola Salat für 14,50€ mit extra Schafskäse für 5,50€. Der Salat war sehr übersichtlich für den vergleichsweise hohen Preis, das Dressing sehr sauer, nur eine kleine Tomate, kaum Pinienkerne. Der kleine panierte Schafskäse war TK Ware und zu trocken. Abgerechnet wurde dann auch noch fälschlicherweise zusätzlich Hähnchenbrust. Auf unseren Hinweis, dass der Preis nicht stimmen kann, wurde storniert, sich aber nicht entschuldigt.

We watched the European Championship football match between Germany and Denmark in this location. There were many TV screens set up both outside and inside. Recommended for watching football.

We are really disappointed. We went here based on a recommendation and were initially shocked by what the bar looked like from the outside. A very uninviting building whose facade is crumbling. Inside it is actually quite nice and modern. It is lovingly furnished. We sat outside. Unfortunately, the seat cushions were completely dirty and filthy. When we ordered the drinks, we asked about an aperitif (Raspberry Spritz). The waitress couldn't explain to us what was in the drink. - that's no problem at all, she asked directly and explained everything to us, everything was great. My girlfriend ordered the Raspberry Spritz and I ordered an Aperol. Unfortunately both drinks had 0.0 carbon dioxide. We asked the friendly waitress whether the Prosecco had been sitting for a while and whether it was possible to get a new drink. She said that she would bring us a newly prepared drink immediately. Unfortunately, only a small sip of new Prosecco was poured onto the drinks, so you didn't really taste any difference. You could tell because our lipstick was still on our straws, so it definitely couldn't be a new drink. It was too stupid for us to say anything again. But getting a really bad aperitif for €8.10 is not recommended.

The waitresses were very friendly, but I think this restaurant lives by the motto “more appearance than reality”. The food is really mediocre and totally overpriced. The sodas are so sweet that you almost die of sugar shock. The atmosphere (direct view of the swimming pool) isn't great either. Unfortunately, it is not as exclusive as this restaurant would like to be. Even though I really like the inside of the restaurant, I probably won't come back.

If you order a simple burger like it says on the menu (without any extras), when you pay you are brazenly charged an extra €1 for mayo and ketchup, even though you wouldn't have ordered that. It is just brought to you and then you are expected to pay extra for it, nothing is agreed upon beforehand!! Absolute impudence, not possible!!!

The food was very tasty, but serving a dish on a slate plate with sauce was chic, very tasty but very inconvenient and unfortunately quickly got cold.

Were there on Sunday with 8 people. There was nothing going on. Got 4 drinks after 18 minutes and the others after 26 minutes. The food was OK but nothing special. 1 salad was wrong and the one burger was forgotten. Of course it's completely normal to be human, but 2 waiters were working in the evening, where there was a group of 2 and a group of 6 who only had drinks. Gastronomy is different.

If you like plastic flowers and scent diffusers while eating, this is the place for you. The whole atmosphere is somehow not harmonious. Colored neon tubes are supposed to create coziness, but they tend to reinforce the artificial character of the furnishings. On a Friday evening without much of an audience, the music was turned up so loud that it was almost impossible to have a conversation with the people at your own table. Some of the time you sit on sofas. Although this is nice in thought, it is completely impractical for eating. So when you eat, you have to sit on the edge of the sofa the whole time to even get to the food. The quality of the food was good but not what I would have expected in the price category. Overall, the restaurant is not for me. But everyone can dare to form their own opinion.

Anyone who is visiting or living in Bielefeld, is looking for something special and wants to experience an unforgettable evening of culinary delights will find it at Scarabaé. The ambience is inviting and stunningly beautifully decorated. The pleasant and extremely friendly staff showed us to our extremely comfortable and beautiful place, inviting us to stay there longer. We decided on a Lamoon Salamun and a Scaraburger including the accompanying side dishes - overall extremely delicious and highly recommended. This beautifully decorated treat was truly of exquisite taste! Our drinks rounded off the whole thing in an impressively tasty way and also proved to be a good choice. So folks, if you're heading to Bielefeld, are looking for something special and want it to be a successful evening, then Scarabaé is the right place for you. I wish you all a lot of fun there.

Das Scarabé ist ein sehr schön eingerichtetes Lokal. Das Personal ist nett und das Essen ist zwar hochpreisig aber auch lecker. Wir haben uns eigentlich sehr wohl gefühlt und genossen auch die Aufführung der Bauchtänzerin. Leider konnten wir uns dann kein weiteres Getränk mehr bestellen, weil angeblich der Tisch wieder reserviert sei. Dabei war der Nachbartisch und auch noch ein paar andere Tische frei. Unglaublich. Wir mussten Zahlen und uns wurde noch nicht einmal ein Platz an der Bar angeboten. Wir waren bereits vorher öfter da, aber jetzt wohl zum letzten Mal.

Great cocktails, nice service, great cuisine make the Scarabe a top restaurant. Only when it comes to service do we have to say that we would have liked one more waiter. The waiting times for ordering drinks were sometimes a bit too long. Therefore only four stars for service. All in all, the visit was a top decision. The belly dancing program was a successful surprise, which made the visit even better. We will definitely come back.

So our food was delicious and the portions were more than enough. We had our company Christmas party there and it was just great. Good drinks, good music and simply a mega belly dancer. She was blonde and wore a mask. Mab really notices that she is a professional. She involved people so that everyone had fun😂. At tables with couples, she covered the men's eyes and danced only for the women, really a great dancer. It's because of her that we keep coming back. After 12 o'clock it's more of a bar. You can dance well and have fun. It's a pleasure.

I was there with my wife a few weeks ago. Very nice decorated restaurant. It was a Saturday that day there was a DJ and a belly dancer with a mask. This was simply beautiful, it really entertained the people and us. Everyone danced and had a lot of fun. Would love to come back.

Prices like in a luxury restaurant, service like in a kebab shop. You are welcomed at the entrance and that's it for the good service. The food is served at the end of the table and the guests are supposed to pass the dishes from hand to hand. We also had to clean up ourselves because the waitress hardly made any effort to collect our plates herself. At least the dishes were tasty, but as is usual in the restaurant, very salty. The atmosphere is great, unique...

Prices and quality of the food don't match at all. Food doesn't taste good, potatoes in the corner look like they came from the supermarket freezer. Red wine from the fridge. Service very very good.

Das Restaurant hat eine schöne mediterrane Optik, aber das Essen hat nicht besonders gut geschmeckt. Die Bratkartoffeln zu dem Entrecote waren überhaupt nicht gar und überhaupt nicht cross. Der extra bestellte Beilagensalat bestand nur aus Blattsalat, keine Tomaten, auch keine Gurken. Das Entrecote hatte keine Röstaromen. Dazu das Ganze relativ hochpreisig. Das Restaurant ist eher eine Bar, die aber eine schöne Einrichtung hat.

I was there on a Sunday evening with my girlfriend. Unfortunately, both of our orders were forgotten/lost twice. Not so bad because the rest was true. Tea was great and so was the fruit plate, but unfortunately a little too expensive.
