Two stars for the ambience, as it already deserves 3-4 stars. The rest is somehow cheeky for the prices. Food: around €20 for burgers. Then the waitress herself admits that most of the food is frozen and not freshly prepared. Then you can go straight to a good burger restaurant to eat. The food isn't bad, but it's more on par with a good canteen and they're usually cheaper. Service: last year a waiter accidentally charged me significantly more. A huge disappointment and also a waste of time for us to wait for the cancellation. In the end, not even an apology. Today: there's hardly anything going on, two waiters are chilling at the counter and are overlooked several times when you wave to pay. We sat for about 20 minutes with empty plates and glasses, which originally became our reason for leaving. Ambience: after a certain time the lights simply dim and the music gets louder. During the week when you meet up with friends for dinner, it's stupid. It just gets louder. Other: Some of the men's toilets had not been cleaned by previous visitors and paper was missing. The staff has to be more on their toes and not chat so much at the counter. Too bad!

Not like it used to be. We used to often go there for breakfast and brunch. Now the breakfast buffet costs €16 and it was hardly refilled after 11:00 and you had to ask for everything. Scrambled eggs were cold, some of the fruit for fruit salad was still frozen! We've been waiting forever for something. That doesn't work at all. We'll go somewhere else from now on.

Taking a reservation and not telling you that there is no food served at that time is not great. Otherwise the service and food were good! 👍

A very cozy restaurant with a well-stocked menu and friendly service. No matter whether inside or outside, you can end the evening with pleasant music in the background. The only point of criticism was that the women's toilet was unclean overall.

Service was a disaster. Waiters work with their hair down(?) and are incredibly cheeky when you ask. Unfortunately the food had no taste either..

I have rarely experienced such an unfriendly and brazen approach to customers as the waiter did... We just wanted to sit down and were insulted in such a cheeky way that we would get in the way... Absolute perceptual disorders. Then we wanted to sit down to be served by another waiter… on the way to the other table we noticed that he was loudly gossiping about us…. My tip: look for another job… far away from people!! And treat yourself... HEART TIP!! Never again Alex on principle!!!!

Nice bistro in Bielefeld's old town. The food was delicious and the service was courteous and friendly. Overall a nice stay.

We like the atmosphere there, but sometimes it doesn't taste very good. Nevertheless, we will continue to sip our coffee there for the atmosphere :)

The brasserie has had its best years behind it, the food is still just average when it comes to the classics, the ambience is getting old and the service is very slow. It's a shame about the situation, but it's probably the only bright spot.

There was hair and maggots in my food and I still had to pay the full amount. RUDE AND UNHYGIENIC. Customer satisfaction is very important here.

We had the breakfast buffet, it's not bad, but nothing really special either. There's a lot of choice in itself, but if you have an intolerance you can't try everything that's offered to you. Maybe we'll try the hot dishes at some point. But service was A1!

Solid 3 stars. We were here for brunch with a group. The service was really exceptionally good. The food was average, nothing typical of a brasserie. The scrambled eggs were the classic bagged scrambled eggs. Standard bacon and sausage - shame. Because you can get it everywhere else but cheaper. The selection was overall very good - but croquettes with imperial vegetables and pieces of meat with dark sauce are more likely to be found in a German restaurant. XXL milk coffee looks great. Unfortunately, it cools down far too quickly because there is too little coffee in it compared to the milk. We would come back if we had the chance, but we wouldn't come here specifically. The concept doesn't suit a brasserie.

I will not enter this store again. The staff doesn't welcome you at all! Very bad tempered and very careless towards customers. Lack of staff or not, that doesn't mean you have to ignore customers and also be unfriendly. I work in the catering industry myself and I understand everything but not the behavior of the employees. Especially the young girls! I waited 15 minutes for my order and had to make them aware that I was there even though they saw me several times! Had the feeling that everyone was fighting not to have to serve a customer! ! Sad ! Then you should look for something else! Wrong job for you! The owner should please think about her employees or at least have a conversation, you can really see that they are overloaded! It's not the first time like this, I never said anything but now it has to come out!

We had brunch on Sunday. Very large selection, fine and delicious food with everything your heart desires. Very nice atmosphere and friendly staff. A really great breakfast with lunch > brunch of the best quality! Conclusion: Highly recommended

I was there today with friends, unfortunately not a single vegan dish on the menu. Asking the waiter led to 'Bruschetta, probably, then it's going to be tight...' It's probably also with butter... I left. Here too, animal exploitation and climate protection are clearly of no interest to anyone. Conclusion: not up to date and not recommended if climate or animal welfare is important to you.

I ate the Caesars salad. I already knew I liked it and I did. The marinated chicken breast fillet could have been a little juicier. The ciabatta was a bit too crispy for me. But that's a matter of taste. However, I found the salad plus chicken breast fillet very expensive at €19.80. The service was friendly. Of course I think it's outstanding when the bartender calls someone in the 50s a "young man" :). My daughter's burger wasn't great, but not bad either. We'd love to come back.

You are not wanted here. The sound makes the music, “Marcel” (last name deleted). Totally unfriendly because we only sat at two tables outside. (It wasn't full!) Of course it wouldn't be a problem if we sat down at a table. A normal note would have been enough, but not in this tone! “You are sitting here, I need the table” - aggressive, harsh tone. When he brought the coffee, he banged it heavily on the table. When we asked what was going on, he took the cups back and said we could go. That's not customer-friendly, that's not how you treat customers who make your living, especially since the other guests also looked askance at the waiter and it's no secret in the reviews that this one waiter often causes disputes, even with the employees ! Simply cheeky! We will avoid this shop and word gets around quickly. We even wanted to ask the waiter again what was wrong with him, even though it wasn't our business! Beschwerde über den Kellner „Marcel“, schlank mit Brille, der schon öfter für Unannehmlichkeiten sorgte. Vielleicht sollte man über einen Jobwechsel nachdenken, wo man nicht mit Menschen zu tun hat. Jeder kann mal einen schlechten Tag haben, aber das wird nicht an Kunden ausgelassen! Wenn man unglücklich im Job ist sollte man diesen quittieren. Wir haben uns draußen hingesetzt, es waren viele Plätze frei, wir saßen zwischen zwei Tischen. Das passte dem Kellner wohl nicht, statt einen freundlichen Hinweis zu geben, dass dieser Tisch benötigt wird, kam ein freches „Sie sitzen an einem Tisch, den anderen brauche ich“. Frech und mit starkem Unterton behaftet. Es wäre absolut kein Problem gewesen das wir uns natürlich nur an einen Tisch setzen, aber der Ton macht die Musik. Wir haben auf den harschen Ton nachgefragt was los ist, daraufhin hat der Kellner die Kaffeetassen wieder mit genommen und gesagt das wir nun gehen können. So ein Verhalten ist indiskutabel, bockig und nicht serviceorientiert. So geht man nicht mit Kunden um. Es wäre kein Problem gewesen, das wir uns direkt an einen Tisch setzen, aber nicht in diesem Ton. Dieser Kellner ist mir und auch anderen für seine schroffe Art bekannt. Wir werden die Brasserie ab sofort meiden und uns an andere freundliche Restaurants wenden, denn dort ist man erfreut und auch nicht überrascht gewesen, wie der Ton in der Brasserie herrscht. Spricht sich wohl rum. Das besonders schlimme -> …nwir wollten die Situation mit dem Kellner nochmal besprechen, jedoch hielt er es anscheinend nicht für nötig auch vor den anderen Kunden im Innenraum weiter für schlechte Stimmung zu sorgen, Sachlichkeit, Kritikfähigkeit ungenügend, Fehlanzeige! Ich glaube auch nicht das dieses Fehlverhalten mit dem Mitarbeiter besprochen wird, Job verfehlt!

Alex offers a very nice, calm and pleasant atmosphere. The decoration is beautiful and you can enjoy something to eat, drink and while away the time. You can sit inside and outside. The staff is attentive and serves quickly. We recommend!

For one quickly coffee at the downtown

We were in the brasserie on Saturday. Two of us ordered the Burger Piccata. We were hoping that the high price was justified and that the burger tasted good. Unfortunately, both burgers were not convincing in the least. A very dry and overall unappetizing burger. For the price it is absolutely a waste and not recommended!

They could have used more staff in service. We waited a long time sometimes. The tarte flambée was tasty, the salad was rather poor for the price. Unfortunately the drinks were too warm and they didn't have any ice cubes.

We were in Bielefeld over the weekend and came across this beautiful restaurant quite spontaneously. First of all. Incredibly kind to children and a high chair is brought to you straight away. There is also a play area here. However, broken toys should be replaced every now and then. The waitresses (there were 3 different ones at our place during our stay) were super friendly. Keep such employees, they are precious. The food came quickly and was really tasty. The cake must also be tried. The ambience was nice. A little dreamy with a view of Paris.

In the spring the service is no longer served outside when the sun is shining because it is too cold for the service staff. You can still pick up a drink from inside and bring it outside yourself, but you can't eat because you can't let us know when it's ready. Fun fact: All the other restaurants in the city center were serving outside at that time that day. Well, you just go somewhere else and probably won't come back. It's a shame, it was always very nice there. But not in the interior due to the terrible acoustics. Good luck to the brasserie!

I've heard a lot of different opinions, but still give it a try, the map is "relatively" small, but that doesn't mean it's bad. Nice service, but we had to wait a little longer for service at the beginning and when paying, but there could also be fewer staff due to illness, you always don't know that. The food itself was very good and sufficient. What really bothered me personally were the toilets, dirty, untidy and all the paper was lying around or was empty.

Brasserie Alex Bielefeld Eating out and enjoying in Bielefeld at ALEX Brasserie!! Delicious food in a beautiful trendy restaurant for a great price, with excellent service. On a beautiful summer evening at the end of August, enjoy a delicious meal in the Altstadt of Bielefeld. All terraces were full because this evening, September 29, it was midnight shopping until midnight. Luckily we found this Brasserie, found a nice table for four. The service was very hospitable and relaxed. The order was taken quickly and even when there were special wishes, this was no problem. It was possible to deviate from the extensive menu, which is nice. The drinks were served and not long afterwards the food was also brought out, all neatly at the same time, so that we could start together (that is not always the case everywhere). During the meal, the service regularly came to inquire whether everything was to your liking and whether everything was sufficient. Just fine, then had a delicious dessert, delicious ice cream from Movenpick, which was a fantastic coup. After a cup of coffee, asked for the bill and then it was a pleasant surprise compared to when you go out to eat in the Netherlands. I think you pay about half here at Alex Brasserie compared to in the Netherlands. The weekly menu was really good and the dish I chose was very tasty. Pork fillet with cauliflower and duchess potatoes.

We entered for a drink and ended up having dinner after looking at the menu. It was a good surprise to find French dishes on the menu. Service was pretty good and fast even only one waiter was working... a hard worker! Food was very good. But we didn't took desserts as the cakes were not really appealing. A nice restaurant where I will go again!

Das Alex nimmt an Qualität leider immer mehr ab. Habe in den letzten 2 Jahren kaum freundliches Personal erlebt und es wird keine vegane Frühstücksoption angeboten (wahrscheinlich das einzige Restaurant in ganz Bielefeld) - sehr schade!

Also da waren wir ja wirklich positiv überrascht. Die Speisekarte ist sehr reichhaltig und ich hatte das Gefühl, dass die Preise das Niveau vor Corona hatten. Sehr angenehm. Außerdem war der gebotene Service perfekt. Vielen Dank

Ambiente und Service waren wie immer gut. Das erstmal haben wir das Brunch ausprobiert. Darunter hat leider auch das Frühstück gelitten. Die Wurst Auswahl war eher mager. Das Rührei war zu labbrig und Geschmack neutral. Der Obstsalat war noch gefroren. Es hätten mehr Schüssel für Müsli sein können. Das warme war wie als von gestern aufgewärmt. Es ist sehr schade da das Frühstück früher echt gut war.

Wir waren einen Kaffee trinken, Milchkaffee sehr empfehlenswert. Leider spielte Arminia und vor der Tür standen lauter Fans, die drinnen zur Toilette gegangen sind.

Im Alex lässt es sich sehr gut auf einen Plausch mit Freundinnen bei Kaffee und Wein sitzen. Essen ist gut bis sehr gut. Ist der Laden voll, gibt's schon etwas längere Wartezeiten, ist aber auch nicht zu lang. Sorry, aber der Weg zu den Toiletten und die Sauberkeit der Damentoiletten ist ein No Go!!! Das ist mir schon mehrfach und zu verschiedenen Tageszeiten aufgefallen, echt ekelig und eine Toilette ist nicht nutzbar, da alles drauf komplett fehlt! Liebe Betreiber, hier müsst ihr dringend was tun, das vergrault gut zahlende Kundinnen!!!

Da ich heute einen wichtigen Termin hatte und Ausschau nach nach einem ruhigen Café gehalten habe, habe ich mich schlussendlich für’s Alex Bielefeld entschieden. Ich bewerte gerne und eigentlich immer sehr gut. Doch heute bin ich Zeuge einer maßlos inkompetenten Bedienung geworden. Der Schichtleiter, der sich übrigens als Inhaber von Alex ausgegeben hat, war total unfreundlich und unseriös. Auf Kunden Wünsche wird hier offensichtlich nicht eingegangen. Auf dem Hinweis hin, dass das letzte Stück Kuchen zerfledert ist, meinte er wortwörtlich, „wir sind hier nicht im Kuchenladen“ Um es kurz zu fassen, wurde im Termin bloßgestellt. Seriösität und Gastfreundschaft ist was anders!

Ich bin grundsätzlich sehr gerne hier, vor allem draußen sitzt es sich schön mit Blick auf die Altstadt. Das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis bei den Getränken ist für die Lage sehr gut, nur beim Essen schwankt dieses ein bisschen. Manches finde ist sehr gut, etwa die Tomatensuppe oder Waffeln, anderes hingegen eher durchwachsen und dem Preis nicht entsprechend. Bei dem Bruschetta finde ich es z. B. schade, dass gar kein Parmesan und nur sehr wenig Rucola verwendet wird. Dadurch ist es für mich eher fad. Wegen der meiner Meinung nach eher uneinheitlichen Qualität beim Essen und der - vor allem wenn man draußen sitzt - stellenweise etwas langen Wartezeiten, ein Stern Abzug.

Ein Stern, um bewerten zu können. Die Bedienung war nicht nur unterirdisch unfreundlich sondern geradezu unverschämt. Wir sind in ein anderes Lokal gegangen... Nie wieder.

Ungewohnt schlechtes Essen. Ein DJ der zu laute Musik in schlechter Qualität spielt so daß es schrebbelt.

Die Sylvesterfeier ging gar nicht. Musik viel zu laut, der DJ ließ nicht mit sich reden und selbst der Bedienung war es zu laut und das Essen ungewohnt schlecht. Die Feier kann mit früheren Jahren nicht mithalten 😕

Wir mussten von der Silvesterparty flüchten, die Musik war für den Raum zu lauten, der Klang war schlecht, der DJ wurde vom Personal angesprochen, keine Reaktion. Das Essen war auch schon mal besser, schade, wir sind ein Haus weitergezogen. Außerdem waren auch die sanitären Verhältnisse unterirdisch.

Bedienung überlastet, lange Wartezeit auf Getränke u. Essen, sehr laute Geräuschkulisse. War aber auch im Weihnachtsgeschäft, daher nicht so Aussagekräftig...

Es ist schade, dass man an Tagen mit Frühstück nicht einfach nur einen Tee trinken kann.

Wir waren am 1. Weihnachtsfeiertag hier und haben um 16.30 Uhr auch einen schönen Tisch am Fenster für uns einnehmen können. Die Servicekraft kam sehr schnell und freundlich mit den Speisekarten auf uns zu und fragte nach den Getränkewünschen. Als die Getränke gebracht wurden, konnten wir unser Essen bestellen und dieses kam auch, trotz gut gefüllter Brasserie sehr schnell. Wir haben einmal Lachs mit kleinen Backkartoffeln + 1 Flammkuchen und 1mal Pommes mit Staek und Salat bestellt. Alle drei Gerichte können / werden wir gerne weiterempfehlen. Der einzige Punkt welcher für manchen störend sein könnte, ist der lange Weg zu den sanitären Anlagen. Da sollte man keine schwache Blase haben. Wir waren sehr zufrieden + vielen Dank für eine schöne Auszeit im Weihnachtstrubel. C. + M. + J.

The drinks menu also impressed us with its variety and quality. The food and cake deserve a special mention. Everything we tried was delicious, well-prepared, and presented. It was evident that there’s a lot of care put into their menu. What also stood out was the service. The waitress was very sweet and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. It's not always easy to find that balance, but she managed it perfectly. We genuinely enjoyed our time at Cafe Brasserie. It's a place we'd happily recommend to others and will definitely visit again when we're back in the area.
