SAX Essen & Trinken in München

There were three of us for the football afternoon. Since it was very busy, we got a seat right by the bar. The service, drinks, and food were excellent. The price is reasonable when you consider that I sat for 9 hours and drank 10 beers 😄 I'd gladly come again on my next visit to Munich.

The food is simply not good. The service is very slow and annoying, especially when you're about to pay... Not recommended.

It's practically an institution in Glockenbach. The food is delicious (large portions) at fair prices, and the service was excellent. See you soon :-)

Great pub and excellent food. Finally, a place without pretentious types and overly styled people. Just normal people, families, students playing cards. Very friendly, attentive staff who, despite the place being packed, served and responded calmly and courteously. Very good, down-to-earth food. In summer, it's fantastic to sit outside under the trees.

As a VfB Stuttgart fan, I can highly recommend SAX. The atmosphere during matches is fantastic. The fresh beer and delicious food are the icing on the cake. The prices are absolutely fair.

The menu at Sax ranges from lasagna to Indian curry to schnitzel and has more dishes than a food blogger has hashtags. Taste, then, based on the lottery principle. Certainly welcome for sports fans and Tipico fans. Schnitzel: crispy breading. Juicy meat. Good size. Club sandwich: strange bread, overcooked egg, sloppy bacon, unremarkable sauce, aesthetically pleasing, unappealing. The salad overall is not worth mentioning.

You should always reserve a table. Good and delicious food! Always happy to come back!

Fürterlich, you order three times and BV arrives after half an hour, but you're charged at least twice. Be careful, have everything written on the lid...

We stumbled upon this place by chance while looking for a place to play cards. And what can I say? It was the perfect place. The service was extremely attentive and super fast, so you won't be left hanging for long. The prices are really fair; we'll definitely be back!

Came here to eat and have a beer after a walk around the city. The friendly owner pointed us to a beautiful spot in the sun where we enjoyed some guitar music and singing from the upstairs neighbour (it was actually good haha) we ordered the Buddha bowl and vegetarian fajita and they were both above anything we could’ve expected. Everything tasted great and we experienced some flavours we never thought would work that well together. Also, the hummus is the best I’ve ever had and I’ve had a lot of hummus!

Great casual bar for watching football matches or just hanging out with friends in one of Munich's most lively neighborhoods.

Beautiful, shady beer garden. Ideal on hot days. Breakfast is available even after 12:00 PM. The coffee is excellent, and the service is prompt, efficient, and yet very friendly. A wonderful experience, and one we'll be back for.👍

I'm really sorry, but the price/performance ratio is simply outrageous. Ready-made sauces, bad taste. We had several dishes in a large group, and each one was worse than the last. It's sad that they offer frozen vegetables at exorbitant prices.

The food is great for a restaurant like this. Absolute no-go: The bartender (short, blonde, short hair, glasses) loudly complains about the service staff, making you think he has something to say. How uncooperative! He yells at them, etc. They're not slaves. After I asked a brief question, he waved me off and laughed at me. Behave yourself, I'd say. The restroom needs a refresh... The service staff was very nice.

Perfect place for VfB fans! Always something going on, lots of like-minded people, the food tastes good, and the staff is still friendly and quick despite the Saturday rush at 3:30 p.m. 🤝

The SAX is an institution in this area. After many years, I finally made it back here. And it was very nice to see that, apart from a few renovations, nothing has changed. Great service while sitting in the small garden under the large tree. Everything is as you would expect, and the young, dedicated waiter was polite, quick, and just as you would wish. The neighborhood, as a potpourri and melting pot of a special kind, speaks for a certain attitude to life. One can only say: "Here I am human, here I want to be!" I had ordered a rainbow bowl, but had to leave out the coconut bulgur and carrot vegetables in it because both were slightly “off,” i.e. they were no longer fresh. The atmosphere is very rustic and full of beer benches and tables. Not very inviting, probably more for students.

We had breakfast there for 2: extraordinary! Good, varied (salmon, cheese, cold meats, raw vegetables, cottage cheese, fruit, etc.), and superb presentation! And very friendly team! Too bad we didn't know this address before...

You feel comfortable there. It's casual and service is very friendly. Food OK. But a restaurant shouldn't have such a disgusting toilet. That's simply not possible.

We arrived and the owner greeted us, asked us where we came from and told us that since we were the first Chileans to visit his place, he would give us a soup (10 out of 10 by the way). Everyone at the table ordered schnitzel, a salad came, some chips and the 'Milanese' type. Very strong, lots of quantity and good quality/price ratio. They have the menu in German and English (only one by the way). Recommended ☝🏽

We wanted to watch the Dortmund game against Stuttgart. The owner made a space for us behind the counter so we could watch the game. Great drinks and atmosphere.

Very overpriced, apple juice is just water mixed with a bit of apple flavor. The toilets are very dirty, the team is unfriendly and no attention is paid to the guests. NEVER AGAIN BÄÄ

Insider: Simply one of the best football pubs in Germany and the best VfB pub ever, as a VfB fan: Neckarstadion or Sax, there is no shop in Stuttgart and the surrounding area with such an incredible atmosphere. There is also a giant screen and space in the bowling alley in the basement for the smaller clubs: 1860 and Bochum fan clubs. PS: The food and selection are really good for a gastro pub.

I've known the SAX for a few decades and recently returned to it. Thrown together ambience, just one concept. Staff is very friendly and attentive, orders don't take long. In summer there is a small beer garden in front of the restaurant.

The toilets are a disaster. Given that the store has been running so well for years, it's really a disgrace not to renovate it. Food is also served there. Where is the trade inspection office?!

Our daughter, who has recently been living in Munich, took us to Sax on December 15, 2024 to get an idea of ​​the atmosphere during the VfB Stuttgart game in Heidenheim. We are season ticket holders for VfB's home games and were therefore very interested in experiencing the atmosphere at Sax - it was indescribable. Before the game, a free beer (Augustiner from a wooden barrel), and during the game, attentive service at all times in a great atmosphere. When Enzo made it 2-1, it felt like the roof almost flew away. The guests at Sax live the white and red football. Congratulations on this facility.

There are Augustinians and friendly waitresses. That's good. I wouldn't go here to eat. Tried it twice and it was always just “convenience food”.

A work of art is not only nice to look at but also a fireworks display for the palate and nose. Highly recommended for every taste of people to choose from is not just young and old but colorful and colorful up to Paradise Bird. The interior design is especially for the Wiesen friends. But the outside area is extremely good for the couching poteto's I wish you all the best and continued success.

It was our first time in the restaurant, bar, bistro, restaurant... (it's definitely not a restaurant), but whatever. The store is MEGA for young and/or old! Audience completely mixed. There is something for everyone when it comes to food, schnitzel is great in terms of price/performance. Beer comes from August and Tina - no review needed. Seating/tables in the guest room are ok, the adjoining rooms take some getting used to. Our result - immediately and gladly again!

So when I read the 2-3 bad reviews here, I start to think about whether these people's problem isn't in front of their monitor. The store is full on BL match days. 250 guests are thirsty and hungry, and I'm one of them. And I'm a tricky guest. Always have special requests. For example, doesn't like vegetables. And senior plates. That always works! Respect to the kitchen and the staff! The prices are totally okay too! I don't understand what some people complain about the atmosphere. If you want white tablecloths, silver cutlery and a Van Gogh hanging on the wall, Sax is the wrong place! I think the bar with the lamps is great. Only the idiots who leave their smears on the toilets are annoying. I like to be there often, Friedel, Wolfi, Caiel, Lotta and everyone else, keep it up!

I recently ate a vegetarian bowl and it was the worst bowl I've ever eaten. I don't understand what chefs are thinking when they don't season the vegetables in vegetarian/vegan food, I mean you season meat too?! Now I remember why I eat almost exclusively in vegan/vegetarian restaurants, as “normal” restaurants very often simply cannot cook veggie/vegan food. Sure, the dish looked pretty with the decorations, but do you see any spice or a tasty sauce or something in it? Yes, zucchini and ANY other vegetables can, or even have to, marinate, just like meat, otherwise it tastes like nothing. This simply shows that the chef has never eaten in a vegan restaurant, where the dishes outdo each other in terms of taste and spice. No wonder so much meat is still consumed when veggie dishes taste like nothing. Just cook it deliciously vegan with lots of spices, curry, paprika powder, lemon juice, ginger, garlic or you can also use a roast chicken spice mix to marinate vegetables, but please add some flavor. Still 2 stars because the service was quite good. If you want to eat delicious and animal-friendly food, I recommend the super delicious vegan restaurant Padme Hum, which is not far from Sax and you will experience a taste explosion.

I was there on Wednesday for the game Brest vs Bayer 04 from the 10th minute of the game. The store was about 1/6 full. When I entered, the gentleman in the knitted hat asked me if I just wanted to watch the game, which I said. I was assigned a seat and ordered a beer and the schnitzel. To be honest, the size of my schnitzel has nothing to do with the photos that can be seen here. It was half at most. The fries were cold and after a complaint they were replaced with "miniature schnitzel" put back on top. They waited for this point - the first half wasn't over yet - so that the cap guy told me that I should prepare to leave again at 8 p.m. - i.e. after 15 minutes of the second half - as reservations would come. By the way, these didn't appear until the end of the game. It's filled up all around. I find that quite inhospitable. The friendly waitress was the only bright spot (she noticed the gentleman's behavior and just shrugged her shoulders). She was visibly uncomfortable with what was going on. Either I offer a guest the space for the agreed period without any ifs and buts, or I don't do that. It seemed to me that the guest orders, we earn something quickly because there is hardly anyone there at the moment and then he should leave quickly so that the cash register continues to ring with regular guests. Absolutely impossible. I would also like to point out that the broadcast ran with barely audible sound, which didn't really create a football atmosphere. I certainly don't need this a second time, but I'm also sure that the regular clientele, who obviously have carte blanche here and behave as if this is their apartment, will ensure the best sales. This is also courted by the hat man. My consumption would certainly have been significantly higher if I had handled it better.

A very electrifying place with a good atmosphere when the VFB plays again. It was full, but that wasn't a problem. Only three regulars kept complaining in an inappropriate, obscene manner that we were taking their place at the bar. The comments were disgusting and I would have liked the waitress to intervene. Perhaps it could be made clear to the “regulars” that when the VFB plays, it cannot be guaranteed that they can sit in their seats. Apart from the above situation, the service was excellent. The staff is very friendly! The schnitzel is solid and plentiful. Somehow this little VFB enclave in the middle of Munich has charm!

Great restaurant with an electric atmosphere for the VfB games. However, it is always advisable to make reservations, as the drunk “regulars” whose place we had apparently taken at the bar loudly and consistently made extremely inappropriate comments towards us, until the women we were there with ultimately became too uncomfortable and we went. Pub with its own bowling alley in the basement. Quite an extensive menu with dishes to fill you up, simple but okay. Football broadcasts are very common inside and therefore quite loud. Very simple and outdated atmosphere, nothing remotely stylish, not even in a retro sense. The best place to have a conversation is to sit outside. There is a bowling alley in the basement that can be rented by the hour (Feb 2024 €20/h). There are two tables for around 10 people.

On previous visits I've eaten something here or there, but I have to agree with many of the other reviews here. Unfortunately, the location, inventory and guests have not whetted appetite here for a long time. The friendliness and demeanor of the frequently changing staff can also still be worked on.
