SAX Essen & Trinken in München

I recently ate a vegetarian bowl and it was the worst bowl I've ever eaten. I don't understand what chefs are thinking when they don't season the vegetables in vegetarian/vegan food, I mean you season meat too?! Now I remember why I eat almost exclusively in vegan/vegetarian restaurants, as “normal” restaurants very often simply cannot cook veggie/vegan food. Sure, the dish looked pretty with the decorations, but do you see any spice or a tasty sauce or something in it? Yes, zucchini and ANY other vegetables can, or even have to, marinate, just like meat, otherwise it tastes like nothing. This simply shows that the chef has never eaten in a vegan restaurant, where the dishes outdo each other in terms of taste and spice. No wonder so much meat is still consumed when veggie dishes taste like nothing. Just cook it deliciously vegan with lots of spices, curry, paprika powder, lemon juice, ginger, garlic or you can also use a roast chicken spice mix to marinate vegetables, but please add some flavor. Still 2 stars because the service was quite good. If you want to eat delicious and animal-friendly food, I recommend the super delicious vegan restaurant Padme Hum, which is not far from Sax and you will experience a taste explosion.

Variety of drinks and dishes - nice atmosphere. Generous opening hours, really great!

I was there on Wednesday for the game Brest vs Bayer 04 from the 10th minute of the game. The store was about 1/6 full. When I entered, the gentleman in the knitted hat asked me if I just wanted to watch the game, which I said. I was assigned a seat and ordered a beer and the schnitzel. To be honest, the size of my schnitzel has nothing to do with the photos that can be seen here. It was half at most. The fries were cold and after a complaint they were replaced with "miniature schnitzel" put back on top. They waited for this point - the first half wasn't over yet - so that the cap guy told me that I should prepare to leave again at 8 p.m. - i.e. after 15 minutes of the second half - as reservations would come. By the way, these didn't appear until the end of the game. It's filled up all around. I find that quite inhospitable. The friendly waitress was the only bright spot (she noticed the gentleman's behavior and just shrugged her shoulders). She was visibly uncomfortable with what was going on. Either I offer a guest the space for the agreed period without any ifs and buts, or I don't do that. It seemed to me that the guest orders, we earn something quickly because there is hardly anyone there at the moment and then he should leave quickly so that the cash register continues to ring with regular guests. Absolutely impossible. I would also like to point out that the broadcast ran with barely audible sound, which didn't really create a football atmosphere. I certainly don't need this a second time, but I'm also sure that the regular clientele, who obviously have carte blanche here and behave as if this is their apartment, will ensure the best sales. This is also courted by the hat man. My consumption would certainly have been significantly higher if I had handled it better.

Staff may be rare, but you shouldn't let totally incompetent people loose on customers: 60 minutes of waiting for food because they forgot to pass it on. Without a word of apology. Good prices, and many empty places

The food was good. The waitress was conspicuous by her absence, which is why I finally went in to pay at the bar - they were also looking for the waitress there and one of them complained that I was asking because he was finally off work. Very strange treatment of customers. Otherwise it was nice to sit outside and when a thunderstorm came we were well protected by the awning.

After a long time, back in Munich and in the Sax. No shikimiki, really good as always. Can just be recommended.

Went here again after 5 years and we didn't regret it. Delicious food, cozy beer garden and great cocktails. We always enjoy coming here.

I can't judge the food, we just watched football and drank a few beers. The service staff were very friendly and served us well even though it was very full due to the football game.

A very electrifying place with a good atmosphere when the VFB plays again. It was full, but that wasn't a problem. Only three regulars kept complaining in an inappropriate, obscene manner that we were taking their place at the bar. The comments were disgusting and I would have liked the waitress to intervene. Perhaps it could be made clear to the “regulars” that when the VFB plays, it cannot be guaranteed that they can sit in their seats. Apart from the above situation, the service was excellent. The staff is very friendly! The schnitzel is solid and plentiful. Somehow this little VFB enclave in the middle of Munich has charm!

Great restaurant with an electric atmosphere for the VfB games. However, it is always advisable to make reservations, as the drunk “regulars” whose place we had apparently taken at the bar loudly and consistently made extremely inappropriate comments towards us, until the women we were there with ultimately became too uncomfortable and we went. The schnitzel was tasty and plentiful. All in all, a very nice shop, but it's a shame that they don't intervene in the situation mentioned above

We watched a Bayern Munich football match here and it was awesome. Packed full. Great vibe. The service was excellent.

Pub with its own bowling alley in the basement. Quite an extensive menu with dishes to fill you up, simple but okay. Football broadcasts are very common inside and therefore quite loud. Very simple and outdated atmosphere, nothing remotely stylish, not even in a retro sense. The best place to have a conversation is to sit outside. There is a bowling alley in the basement that can be rented by the hour (Feb 2024 €20/h). There are two tables for around 10 people.

On previous visits I've eaten something here or there, but I have to agree with many of the other reviews here. Unfortunately, the location, inventory and guests have not whetted appetite here for a long time. The friendliness and demeanor of the frequently changing staff can also still be worked on.

I always enjoy going back to Sax with my companions, be it for some Helle or the highly recommended Amaretto Sour. You can only be satisfied with the service, as well as with the prices and the excellent food. Every weekend again!

Everything fits here. It's a super casual feeling to stay here. The food is great and the menu has a lot of variety. Highly recommended if you want to watch football, there is always a great atmosphere here. I really enjoy coming here.

The club sandwich, which I ordered after 11 p.m., was great in terms of price and taste! The drinks were also completely fine. However, the atmosphere and the clientele were absolutely not pleasant and give the vibe of the Berlin punk scene. Drugs were consumed in the toilets and this was not hidden. I was also asked by an unknown person what “drugs” I was on. Pretty strange. However, the bar itself has great service and food. A suggestion for improvement would be to ban such people from entering the bar. LG - maybe my next visit will be a little less strange.

Five of us were there on a Friday and had reserved a table. It was a friend's birthday and we wanted to have a nice evening. Everything was good, but when we got the bill we were quite shocked because it said 3 beers too many. We had drunk a total of 8 beers but the bill said 11. Since 3 of us had only had 2 beers and 2 had only had one, we were all still fully conscious. However, when we asked the waiter about it, he reacted completely unprofessionally. According to him, what was written on the receipt was what we would have ordered. However, from an argumentative point of view, this makes absolutely no sense because he could type whatever he wants. We tried to explain to him in detail that it didn't make any sense but he was completely stubborn and didn't want to go into it. We're all pretty disappointed because it ruined our evening a bit.

We visit Sax often and I have to say that I am incredibly impressed with the waiter Niklas. He always creates an incredible atmosphere and, in addition to the drinks, always brings a good mood to the table. The bartenders are also very friendly and mix the most delicious drinks every day. We are particularly grateful to Mario for his commitment and effort, which he demonstrates again and again when mixing. Was für ein toller Laden! Super Stimmung beim VfB Spiel, leckeres Essen (Schnitzel mit Spätzle und Soß waren der Hammer) und so unglaublich freundliches Personal, man fühlt sich sehr willkommen. Macht echt Spaß, danke euch!!

Gute Preise für das Angebot. Die Bedienung kommt leider etwas selten vorbei, sodass die Wartezeiten gerne mal länger sind.

Was soll ich sagen, ich mag das Sax einfach. Einfach ein authentisch, lässiges und unkompliziertes Lokal mit Wohnzimmerflair. Passt perfekt in das Viertel. Die Chefs sind wirklich super nett und hilfsbereit. Als Nachbar wird man immer gegrüßt und mir wurde schon öfters Hilfe uvm. angeboten. Gern esse ich nach der Arbeit etwas drüben. Essen und Getränke sind immer gut! Empfehlenswert Schnitzel mit Kartoffelsalat 👌weiterso

Wir waren begeistert! Wir haben in 2 Tagen hintereinander hier gegessen. Beide Male sehr lecker, sehr freundliche Kellnerinnen und Kellner. Und das Preisleistungsverhältnis phänomenal. In Österreich (meiner Heimat...) bekommt ihr kein Wiener Schnitzel mit Pommes und Salat um 12,80. Und dann auch noch groß und gut... Das Restaurant wird zu einem Fixpunkt bei unseren München-Ausflügen!

Big spacious sports bar with surprisingly decent Thai food in the heart of Glockenbachviertel I had a great time here. Very accommodating place where you can stay for a good chunk of time, lots of places to sit inside and outside. Tried several of their Thai food items and actually all pretty good, especially the pad Thai. Always friendly service as well.

Zufällig dort gelandet, weil um 22:40 Uhr noch hungrig. Angenehme Atmosphäre, ein Burger mit Fries wie er sein muss. Besser hätte ich es nicht treffen können.

Absolut bestes Café im wunderschönen Glockenbachviertel. Besonders zum Frühstücken einfach genial mit liebevoller Frühstück-Etagerie und gemütlichen Couchen. Ganz daß alte Künstlerviertel, einfach entspannt, bodenständig und kreativ. Der kleine Biergarten ist ein Idyll und regelmäßig für mich wie eine Oase, selbst mein Hund fühlt sich dort wohl. Heute gab es gegenüber einen Hunde-Pool 😆 Die nettesten Bedingungen, die nicht Mal mit der Wimper zucken, wenn ich Lachs für den Hund bestelle 😂 Wer eine kleine Auszeit aus dem hektischen Wahnsinn äh Alltag sucht, der darf hier einen Gang runter schalten und einfach Mensch sein. Ich mag es gerade weil, es dort noch ist, wie in "guten alten Zeiten". Entschleunicht. Für mich fast mein zweites Wohnzimmer. Weniger meckern, mehr die einfachen Sachen genießen. Zack glücklich ✨

Treffpunkt für nette und normale Leute des Viertels. Wer hier posh und glamour sucht ist falsch. Dafür ist jeder willkommen und es herrscht sehr entspanntes Ambientie. Egal ob im Biergarten oder drinnen. Highlight: Caiel, der Barkeeper, lebt das Viertel und seine, teils selbst kreierten Cocktails. Brutal gut. Und für Fußball-Fans gibt's außer dem Stadion an der Schleißheimer Str. egtl auch nur dieses Adresse. Wolfi und Friedel (Chefs) lassen hier ihr Herz pumpen, durch die Gefäße aller Angestellten, wenn sie selbst nicht da sind! Fantastischer Laden und die Nr. 1 Glockenbach. *PS vormittags auch zum lernen oder arbeiten bestens geeignet!

A great place! Oscar (staff) was very kind and helped us with information about the city. Ambiance is nice as well, not fancy and more cozy, we really liked it. It is also cheap and they got lot of sitting places outside.

Wir hatten Kaffee und Kuchen 🎂 zum Sparpreis. Sehr lecker 😋! Das Ambiente ist eine Mischung aus bayerisch und trendy. Eine zuverlässige Gastronomie im Glockenbachviertel seit Jahrzehnten.

Der Inhaber schreit ununterbrochen seine Angestellten an, die Atmosphäre ist hierdurch sehr ungemütlich. Der Kellner war sehr sympathisch, aber letztlich haben wir einfach schnell unser Getränk ausgetrunken und sind geflohen…

Eigentlich ein sehr schöner Biergarten aber wie mussten 1,5 h auf das Essen warten und haben dann einmal das falsche Gericht und eins überhaupt nicht bekommen. Die Bedienungen waren alle überfordert und unfreundlich. Selten so einen schlechten Service erlebt
