I've known ZAR for a long time, but my visit on August 9, 2025, was unsatisfactory. We were politely assigned a table and warmly greeted by all the waiters. However, the young, blonde waitress who served us left a negative impression. She initially seemed very stressed, even though the dining room wasn't very busy. She only came to us when asked and didn't occasionally inquire about our well-being. When our meal was served, she told me that there were no corn on the cob with the menu, but that she could offer ice cream. However, this was not served, even though we had ordered it. The waitress walked past our table several times without noticing that we hadn't received any ice cream. The atmosphere is still pleasant. I would still recommend ZAR, but I regret that we weren't served by the waitress with the black hair and glasses.

Cool location with good food and good music.

I've been a regular here for years and am very satisfied. The servers are friendly—only the prices have gone up a bit ;D but that's probably inevitable with so many customers! It's cool for smokers.

Where Rosenheimer Straße splits, leading out of the city to the south, or into the city, right on the green island of the former tram turnaround loop, lies one of the area's most popular pubs. In the gastronomic no-man's-land of the heart of Ramersdorf, where there are few pubs, this establishment is an oasis and a popular meeting place. Formerly Zic Zac, now Zar. Times have changed, and the original decor of that time has disappeared. Nevertheless, the dining room is still cozy and invites you to linger for a long time or become a springboard into Munich's nightlife. The bar area is equally atmospheric, with trendy cocktails on the menu. The food is tried-and-true, nothing special, as well as specials on various days of the week. The prices...Munich standards. The clientele is well-diversified. The staff is very busy, yet always friendly. In the warmer months, you can spend a cozy evening in the beer garden surrounding the house. Thanks to the abundance of greenery, the traffic in the surrounding area is subdued.

I love coming here to eat Kaiserschmarrn :) The coffee is great, but the Kaiserschmarrn is sometimes too buttery... Service is always attentive and friendly

The restaurant gets very crowded during the weekends. It is recommended to book in advance.... I ask Allah's forgiveness and I repent to Him🌹 The restaurant was nice and very quiet, the breakfast was varied, and the restaurant has a nice waiter named Nadine, who is top notch and always smiling. There is also a very helpful Turkish worker, who offers help. The days were wonderful. The restaurant offers 3 meals / breakfast - lunch. Its location is excellent, there are outdoor seating, friendly staff, and free parking.

I went there spontaneously for dinner. A non-local might overlook it, but it's definitely worth a visit. The food was excellent (Tuscany Burger) and really not expensive. The menu feels a bit disjointed. I couldn't really identify a particular style. Burgers and sandwiches, but also curry and bread rolls. But that doesn't matter in my opinion. The food is definitely well prepared, as far as I've seen from colleagues. Outside, there's a fairly large beer garden shaded by trees and huge parasols. You can sit there in both heat and rain.

The new waitress (black hair and a bow) was very nice and friendly. The service was very attentive.

Great outside seating area as well as inside. Also has a winter garden great for colder days. The service was pretty decent. What I enjoy most is the large drink selection they have !

One of the best restaurants in Munich, with a simply lovely atmosphere and always cheerful staff and chef. I would definitely give it 5 stars.

Great food, superb service, and a relaxed atmosphere The Zar is a truly cozy restaurant with a beautiful winter garden and a large beer garden – even with a playground, making it ideal for families. The lunch menu is varied and reasonably priced. The fluffy Kaiserschmarrn and the warm chocolate cake are particularly delicious. The staff is very friendly, attentive, and well-organized. We're always happy to come back!

It's cool on the terrace in summer. My favorite salad with goat cheese. Large portions.

Twenty years ago, I felt like I was there every weekend (Ramazzotti and Cuba Libre (7yr) was our thing). I also enjoyed a Ramazzotti or two with Arno. I was there again today, and honestly, I loved it again. Thank you for being there, and thank you for offering such fair prices 👍👍

Cool local good food and the prices are good the staff is very friendly

We were there in the evening to have a drink. Unfortunately we had to wait forever for the drinks. One thing was wrong, but it wasn't responded to properly either. We had to order the next drinks at the bar because no one had time to stop by our table. Unfortunately, the staff was completely overwhelmed by the number of guests. The quality of the cocktails certainly suffered as a result.

A legend in the south of Munich, always worth a visit, pleasant atmosphere, terrace with TV and heater, nice staff, delicious food, enough parking spaces, highly recommended

Very pleasant restaurant. Champions League games from FC Bayern Munich can be watched there if not in the stadium. Very nice winter garden. Sometimes only slightly understaffed in the winter garden. But still definitely a recommendation

Down to earth good pub with reasonable food, drink and service.

Went there for breakfast on a Sunday. Unfortunately we had to wait a long time for food. The staff was obviously understaffed, but the two waiters remained extremely friendly and offered a round of drinks on the house. The food and price were ok.

Bad food, friends' food wasn't even cooked properly. Bad service and too crowded, so that you're stuck together. For me it was the first and last time I was there.

I celebrated my 40th birthday here with around 45 people and the entire Zar team was very motivated and super friendly, right from the planning and organization and especially in the evening! The food tastes good, the selection of wines is delicious and the cocktails are not only very tasty, but also really attractive! Thanks! 😊

Been there many times and will come back just as often. The relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff have not changed over the years. That's how it should be! The food is always solid and good, vegetarian and vegan options could be expanded a bit and the beer is tasty. Anyone looking for a solid, good restaurant with very nice people and a quiet ambience will be completely satisfied here.

I celebrated my birthday at ZAR. There were 25 of us and we were provided with a separate room. It was a completely successful celebration. I can only report positive things about the organization in advance and about the evening itself - very friendly team, excellent food/drinks. We will definitely come back, whether with a smaller or larger group!

At the entrance to the restaurant, we are greeted by a Gorilla and a giraffe on duty, I was with a work colleague and his family... the place is great, food 5+, beer a bit more expensive, but ok, for a wonderful and quality lunch it's fine. There is enough space in the parking lot, the entrance is easy to miss, you need to pay attention. All in all 5⭐️.. Keep it up, all the best...

Disappointing experience - reservation not honored! I reserved a table in advance, but when I arrived I was told there was no reservation. Despite my confirmation, I could not be offered a place. The staff was neither helpful nor tried to find a solution. Very disappointing - something like this shouldn't happen in a well organized restaurant. Definitely won't be coming back!

The starter and dessert platters for over 20 people were perfectly coordinated and the service left nothing to be desired. Our area was well prepared, so we felt completely comfortable. Hello everyone. On August 8th, 2023 we happened to be at the Restaurant Zar. Two friends of mine ordered pasta with turkey ham and I ordered beef. After the food was served, we noticed that a plate of noodles smelled very bad. The waitress smelled it too and said it might be eggs. My friend couldn't eat it. The plate smelled very bad. We wanted to pay and they charged everything we ordered instead of saying, we're sorry, the drinks are on the house and you don't have to pay for the plate. I deliberately didn't pay for the smelly plate and we paid for everything else. It's not about the money, it's about the principle. Dirty food. Pooh

We were there for lunch today. The service was 5 stars+++++. (Deniz). Great atmosphere. Lunch (burgers and schnitzel) was very tasty. We would love to come back.

Zar is always a nice place to spend the evening, the drinks are very good and the food is varied and offers something for every taste. In summer there is a beautiful garden, but the restaurant inside has a very special atmosphere. Staff is great

New Year's Eve celebration 2024/25 was an absolute failure!!! And to charge an entrance fee of €25 per person is almost a disgrace! For 4 people, at least 100€ just to get a place and then the places were randomly assigned (a small welcome drink as we know from other organizers was of course not included in the price). The advertised DJ only had his time at 10 p.m Work started with a run-of-the-mill playlist without any mood or animation (a radio station would have done the job too). Prices on the specially made New Year's Eve card were also very sporty!! The advertised fireworks were also very manageable. As I said, charging €25 per head for entry was an absolute failure and pure money-making…. It was definitely the last time guests were in the store Ps: to be fair, the service and the waitress who served us were great.

Absolutely not recommended burger!!! The two of us ate a burger each. The burgers tasted so bad that you really had to force yourself to eat them. It wasn't enjoyable at all. We've eaten a lot of burgers in restaurants. That was one of the worst. And the price is certainly not justified. The service was nice and the ambience was nice too.

I'm always amazed at how nice the waitresses are at ZAR. Yesterday my husband had the Kaiserschmarrn, awesome, I got more than enough bread with my soup, and I love the fresh ginger/peppermint tea. I'll go there again for breakfast at the weekend. Parking situation is a bit modest, but you can't help it.

Have been there many times and always very satisfied. This time the food was really not as usual. Cordon Bleu almost no ham and cheese, portion smaller than usual. Kaiserschmarrn served after about 15 minutes, the menu says 30 minutes. Not the same taste as usual. Maybe the chef was having a bad day.

Nice ambience, nice atmosphere, when the weather is nice you can sit on the terrace, nice service. From breakfast (open from 11 a.m.) to lunch and late evening, there are delicious things! Well located in terms of transport, it's easy to get there by car and there are some parking spaces in front of the house. If nothing is free, on the side streets 🙂

I went to the zar very often and the food was great. But recently it has slowed down a lot. I was there yesterday and ate the famous Kaiserschmarren. In the evening I vomited my soul out! So I won't go there anymore

It's fun to go to ZAR, but it takes a really long time when you order something. Today we waited over 40 minutes for something to eat to arrive. The portion of Kaiserschmarren is now smaller but still costs the same. I find that really weak...

Everything just fits here every time! No matter what dish or cocktail you try, you will never be disappointed. The Cordon Bleu is particularly recommended. Service is always absolutely courteous without having to raise your hand every time. Ambiance looks tasteful. Everything seems consistent. No matter whether outside or inside. Unfortunately few parking spaces.

Great store! There are parking spaces in front of the door and a beer garden is also available. The service was super nice and attentive. The food was very tasty and the price was fair for the large portions. The ambience inside could do with some work.

Been there a few days ago. Waited 1.5 hours for our order, which was extremely annoying. The gentleman who served us was at least very friendly, but unfortunately the lady was less so.

A great place to unwind after work but also for a meeting point on the weekend. Very good cocktails, good food and friendly service, all at an acceptable price for Munich standards. The decorations for various holidays are always very beautiful and elaborate.

Was there again today. The place is great - even though it's located between 2 streets, the traffic noise can only be heard when someone honks... the beer garden is small but well maintained! Very large parasols/umbrellas! The breakfast options all taste good, but in my opinion they are generally a bit too expensive - or a slightly lagging price/performance ratio! The service is impeccable - others can take a lesson from that! I'd love to come back!

Very good Bavarian cuisine! Warm & Cold. Everything on the menu sounded very tempting and I could hardly decide. The vegetarian offering could be better and more fish would be great too, but this is offset by the fact that although there is a smaller amount of food to choose from overall, this selection is excellent and was immensely tasty! The desserts were especially delicious! The men's toilet was decorated very funny (see photo) 🤣

Bar, restaurant, beer garden a little bit of everything, more for young people, a bit funky, the range of food is good and everything comes to the table quickly, people are friendly and even when there is a lot going on, the place runs smoothly. There is parking space, but there could be more. You can get there from the rural south via the motorway and it's quick to get to the middle ring and to Rosenheimer Berg, making it easy to reach south-east. Ideal for chilling, hanging out and being in a good mood.

Casual restaurant with large indoor and outdoor areas, ideal for a relaxed evening in a larger group, but nothing high-quality or luxurious. The food was ok/satisfactory, you can tell that not everything is homemade. The prices are quite high, but what else would you expect in Munich. All in all it was OK, but not necessarily worth another visit.

Addendum: Dear ZAR team, since I like the ZAR very much and have been visiting for well over 10 years, I gave it one more star in response to your message...BUT: Of course you can't exclude smokers, nobody wants that, but in the interior Shouldn't it smell almost the same as the outside smoking area! That's a shame for your food, because taste and smell play a big role together when it comes to enjoying food! For the paying customer it is also not very nice to be able to enjoy their food with the smell of cigarettes! My nose is really not sensitive, but maybe you don't notice that anymore either because you work in that environment every day and have gotten used to it. Please find a solution so that you can at least enjoy your delicious food indoors without being annoyed by the pungent smell of nicotine. You didn't have this problem before, so it's probably possible. As I said, I really like the ZAR, but you should find a fair solution for smokers and connoisseurs, for which I and many others would be grateful, also in terms of health! I'm excited to see if you can think of something about it and whether my colleagues and I can dine with you for the next decade! Thanks! The Zar is an old classic in Munich with delicious Kaiserschmarrn. The only downside is that the outside area is extremely smoky and the smoke from outside also draws heavily into the interior. Unfortunately, for non-smokers it is often quite an imposition. It is a shame that the ZAR would have a good chance of becoming a favorite place if you had an insensitive nose and were less health-conscious. But hope dies last, maybe one day something will happen in the ZAR...It would be nice!

Hospitality is very important in this restaurant. The friendly atmosphere and the attentive staff ensure that you immediately feel at home. The menu offers a wide selection of international and regional specialties to suit every taste. What is particularly worth mentioning is the quality of the ingredients, which are fresh and carefully selected. A place where you not only eat well, but also feel completely at home.

Had a great experience here came from the Uk for a holiday and wanted somewhere close to have a few drinks from our hotel couldn’t have asked for better customer service from the guys at the bar honestly the best experience I’ve ever had from a restaurant/ bar highly recommend

Dear ZAR, I was with you today for Mother's Day with my two daughters. My girls don't have much money at the moment and still wanted to do something GOOD for me. We ordered the Mother's Day breakfast 3 times (€19.90 each) plus latte macchiato, water and 3 x spritzers. It cost €100.10. Unfortunately, the selection was very limited and 1 cake plate of scrambled eggs for 3 people and more fruit than sausage and salmon was so little that everyone gave way to the others, because someone should be fed by at least 3 people. Unfortunately, all three of us went home hungry. I imagine Mother's Day breakfast differently. I know that everything has become more expensive and we don't go out to eat often, but today that was really a portion for 1.5 people at most. Sorry, there is potential for improvement here. Otherwise SERVICE was very friendly, the service staff can't do anything about the portions. Many kind regards

Nacos & drinks ordered! Nacos is of poor quality - far too little cheese & carelessly prepared/presented! Price therefore not appropriate. Drink prices okay.

Very nice shop, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. However, the burger is of the lowest quality, especially for the price. Frozen patty that is neither convincing in terms of quality nor taste. And that for 17 euros. That's better! I probably won't go here to eat again. To answer: Hard to find? Nonsense. There are many. Just go to Forty Four. Best fresh mince, fresh burger bun from the bakery and fresh fries for around 17-18 euros. The sauce is great and the toppings are also fresh. And that in the middle of the city center.

Cool bar, good alcoholic cocktails, varied food, nice service staff/bartenders with good recommendations and mixing skills I always like to come here with friends when there's something to celebrate. The only drawback: reservations are annoying. Despite confirming my reservation (on site with the main waiter/service manager 5 days before the appointment) I was no longer able to get a place with confirmation via email and SMS. M.M.n really a mess.

I once wrote a bad review but that was out of anger and disappointment. Definitely happy to go there again but I had to realize that unfortunately our favorite potato chips with cheese gratin had been replaced by nachos. Unfortunately I didn't really like it so you were something special because everyone has nachos. I really wanted the potato chips with cheese back, unfortunately that was the main reason why I really enjoyed coming. Please bring them back...

I'm actually happy, but the 5th star will only be given when the delicious and good potato chips come back gratinated with cheese. One of my main reasons why I liked coming so much was that, unfortunately, I didn't like it that much at night... Hopefully the potato chips will come back everyone has nachos so you stood out..:-(
