Saliba in Hamburg

As I was walking past, I spontaneously decided to have a coffee on the terrace. The location is simply unique, you have a great view of the town hall. The staff was very nice and friendly. There was a very tasty cappuccino and baklava. I really enjoyed my little break.

The service was really disappointing. We were standing outside when a table became available and were debating whether we wanted to sit down. Before we could even make a decision, the waiter - who had clearly seen us - approached us in a rude and condescending manner and said the table was reserved. The tone was completely inappropriate. It almost seemed as if he didn't want to have any more guests or would decide for himself who would be served here. Given the high prices, this way of dealing with customers is simply a catastrophe. Unfortunately not recommended.

We wanted to sit at a free table directly on the Alster, but were rejected by the waiter in a harsh tone - supposedly reserved. Even though there were still seats available, we weren't even offered another table. An absolutely unsuitable service for the prices. Not recommended.

The best address in the Alsterarkaden. Everything is excellent. The food is unrivaled in Hamburg, the service is extremely warm, courteous, fast and well informed. Excellent selection of food and drinks. The location is of course phenomenal. Whether for lunch, dinner, a quick stop for an excellent Moka – always the right choice. Always worth a visit.

We only had drinks that smelled like onions and had chives in them 🤢at least I got a new one. But it tasted the same...glasses dirty...I couldn't drink it...then drank the rest of the bottle...the service was very unfriendly...Aperol...ready-made drink way too sweet...10 euros per glass...Cola Zero 0.2 l. 5.50 euros.. Despite being unfriendly, we gave a tip...when we wanted to get up...he practically held us and...counted the money out loud....no thanks, please don't do anything...then left without saying a word.....Laughing at first when I said something that didn't fit, totally outrageous.... Conclusion... there is a small cafe next door with pink chairs...the young people are very nice....then the very unfriendly Syrians...absolutely not a recommendation

We chose the lunch menu and were thrilled! Great variations of starters and desserts and the main course was also amazing! Quality of the food is excellent, which we can also say about the staff! 6 out of 5 stars! We will come back (immediately tomorrow! 😃)

Great food and very accommodating staff.

Great Syrian food. The best and most tender shawarma I have ever tasted. Mezze to kneel down on, right on the Alster with a view of the town hall. Very attentive service, nothing wrong with it! Only the high prices detract from the experience a bit. But at a location like this, with such good service and such good food, you can afford to dig a little deeper into your pockets. Saliba also offers a cookbook and cooking courses. I purchased the cookbook and I'm excited to try it again!

Pretty slow service. But the view was amazing

Beautiful setting outdoors amongst other cafes. We wanted lunch and most places along the water were coffee and cake cafes. The menu is middle eastern and somewhat limited but they combines 2 things for us: aubergine (eggplant) and a delicious salad. the eggplant arrived freshly cooked and it was all very good.

First and last time. I've never seen such unfriendly staff in my life, and it's ridiculously expensive. Hello and thank you are foreign words. Go somewhere else; there are other places in Hamburg that are 1,000 times better.

The Saliba Restaurant is small but cozy and in a beautiful location. Because of the many good reviews, I wanted to try it out – and it was worth it! The food was not only very tasty, but also attractively presented. The service was extremely friendly and accommodating. I really enjoyed it and I definitely recommend it!

We visited the café for the first time today after hearing that it is one of the oldest cafés on the Jungfernstieg arcades. From the outside it looked inviting, with a nice selection of sweets in the window. Unfortunately, the interior didn't live up to this first impression. The reception was rather unfriendly, the ambience did not seem harmonious and did not offer the cozy, oriental atmosphere that we had expected. Unfortunately, a few Arabic characters on the wall weren't enough to create an authentic flair - especially since the room seemed rather restless and the furnishings didn't really fit the concept. The open kitchen didn't make a particularly inviting impression either, and overall we were missing that certain something that could define a café of this type. There are other, more modern alternatives with a more appealing ambience in the immediate vicinity. It's a shame, because with a little more attention to detail and a clearer direction, this café could do much more with its potential. We hope that something changes here in the future.

The location is beautiful, interesting decor and the food was excellent and plentiful. The price/performance ratio is right here. The only thing that displeased were the chairs inside. Sitting on bare wood without a cushion is uncomfortable if you stay there for a long time.

The oriental punch with pomegranate, nuts and figs, simply delicious...and the little appetizers...yummy..was there again last week; the food was absolutely delicious and plentiful, even the greeting from the kitchen...the fish to the point and the sauce 🙈😍the staff was very friendly despite the corona requirements and at the end there was a delicious tea with rose petals on the house and a postcard with a nice saying to say goodbye...to Definitely a reason to come back..👌was there again today..simply delicious.I was also given great advice on the wine, was able to try it in advance..a little greeting from the kitchen and the food was simply delicious..I'll definitely be back..

I ordered a mulled wine. The waiter/salesperson acted very aggressively and tipped me over the entire selection of garnishes provided (almonds, etc.) and asked me what I wanted because he was just annoyed. Very invasive.

Location is fabulous! Ambiance is authentic. Food is better than average. But! You pay top price for the Location not for the food or the service. Cannot recommend.

Great restaurant with very good food.

La bienvenida fue cálida y efusiva. Éramos 4 personas. Prepararon toda una mesa cubierta de mezze que eran sabrosos y deliciosos. Esto fue seguido por deliciosos camarones jumbo de carne firme en una salsa crema con arroz. Esto fue seguido de cortes de filete de solomillo con arroz bastante delicioso con dátiles y nueces y una salsa de pimienta especiada y puré de papas. Para terminar tuvimos 8 tipos diferentes de baklava y té de menta. Todo esto fue lavado con un vino tinto Pinot de la cosecha Líbano 2003 que estaba lleno, suave, afrutado y delicioso. ¡Nos fuimos con un oleaje de comida! Este es el mejor restaurante de Oriente Medio que he experimentado sin duda no mejoró en Londres. El tema es sirio.

Hyped cake and coffee place, many people, expensive but cakes are fine

I saw a report on TV and decided that if you were in Hamburg, you had to go there, I said it, did it and 1000% didn't regret it. Ambiance was just as you would imagine, small and cute, service perfect, food SENSATIONAL . Was worth every euro. From the greeting from the kitchen to the dessert, everything was delicious.

The mulled wine with Christmas accompaniment is a delight. The view of Hamburg from the Jungfernsteg anyway 🙂👍.

Was at Saliba's for the first time today and I was really surprised at how good the food tasted. And the employees are very, very friendly to everything. I will always recommend it 👍👍👍👍👍🫰

Arnaque à la carte ! De bonnes pâtisseries mais attention au prix payé. Quand vous réclamez ils font semblant de ne pas comprendre ! Le prix est fonction du serveur et de son humeur. Bref fuyez cette boutique.

…un sentiment de se faire arnaquer. Lors d’une première visite nous avons pris 4 petits gâteaux pour 10€. Ils sont entre 2.5€ et 2,8€ l’unité. La seconde fois nous pensions prendre la formule thé a la menthe + 2 gâteaux pour 8,5 Lors du passage en caisse nous pensions payer 17€ et nous avons été facturé 23,20€ au motif que nous avions choisi les gâteaux. Beaucoup trop cher pour assurer une bonne digestion!!!

We came here spontaneously with my husband and children. When we were seated, no one actually came. I had to go into the restaurant and ask if I could please order something. An older gentleman, very unfriendly, just replied that someone would come at some point. I then ordered from the restaurant and went back to my family. The pastries weren't anything special and neither was the coffee. Very unfriendly, we don't know anything about Arab countries, it's a shame...

Food is average but the service is terrible. Waiters are not friendly nor welcoming. We go unless we don’t have any other option. It’s a pity as the place looks very nice and lets you enjoy the historic passage.

Zuerst wird man nicht einmal wahrgenommen und bedient, absolut unfreundlich und dann sollte sich meine Frau auch noch auf eine alte und unsaubere Toilettenbrille setzen! Man sollte eigentlich annehmen, dass man in dieser Lage und bei diesen Preisen mehr auf Sauberkeit achtet! Das hat sich dann für uns erledigt!

Very, very rude waiter! We sat at a table right in front of the Alster and wanted to have a coffee. After 10 minutes a waiter came and told us that the table had been reserved. When we replied that there was no sign on the table, we were simply told that they didn't have time to put it up and that there wasn't any coffee available now anyway. When we got up we were able to observe how two older women who had sat down at a table in the third row were accompanied by this waiter at the table we had left. Something like that is just outrageous.

Incredibly cozy restaurant by the town hall. We talked to one who serves there and he is amazing 🤩 incredible to run up and down the stairs that are in there. The food was very very good and the portions are huge so you get your money's worth

Restaurant reservé pour un groupe d’une vingtaine de personnes avec le menu special. Nourriture syrienne, assez semblable à la cuisine libanaise, pas de surprise dans les gouts et texture. Entrées succulentes, plat de poulet ok, dessert tres bon. Service rapide, efficace et amical. Addition conforme à l’attente, prix un peu élevé pour un restaurant syrien mais on paie aussi la vue sur la mairie d’Hambourg.

Unfortunately I only had time for one drink (ARAK... aniseed schnapps on water/ice cubes, similar to Pernot/Ouzo)... after passing the exam (otherwise I hardly drink alcohol)!! ...would have loved to have had the mocha, but it was too close to the train departure. Then hopefully on the next visit to HH with a meal and mocha :-))

Beim Vorbeischlendern entdeckt, hat das schöne Lokal die Lust auf orientalische Küche entfacht. Wir wurden nicht enttäuscht - die Gerichte waren hervorragend und wir haben obendrauf noch ganz spezielle und sehr gute Weine entdeckt.

I was there for the first time yesterday. The waiter was very nice and friendly. But as a born Lebanese from a Syrian mother, I'm sad to say that the coffee and sweets were so bad. I was so embarrassed because it was my first time inviting friends there. I completely expected something different. Unfortunately it's a 'business' there, if you already know Syrian cuisine, never again!

We chose the local at random and went there two evenings in a row during our vacation! Very tasty, very polite and a great atmosphere right on the water! Gladly again!

Magic place in „Alsterarkaden“ with awesome view towards townhall. Excellent authentic food and drinks. Highly attentional, polite and friendly people. We have been enjoying this place several times already and are always fascinated while coming back. For us a „must to be“ place in the city of Hamburg.

Falafel en lamsworstjes als voorgerecht waren echte smaakbonnen, overheerlijk! Het hoofdgerecht van kip en couscous royal waren ook super. Zeer vriendelijke bediening. Echte aanrader!

As a person who comes from Syria, I know the Syrian maza differently, it should consist of kibbeh, barak, and yalanji as well as other delicacies like baba ghanoush, muhammara, not like here from old boiled vegetables from the day before, with lots of cumin!! ! We were then shocked when the plate arrived! In particular, there was no description of Stella on the menu. This is not Maza at all!!! Purely ripping off tourists!!! In addition, the price of €27 is a total scam, it wasn't even worth €10!!!

Beautiful little café on the banks of the small Alster, here you can relax briefly in the afternoon and enjoy the fantastic mocha with cardamom or satisfy your craving for sweets with the small oriental sweets. The service is very courteous and warm, but always professional. We would be happy to come back for a coffee in the afternoon.

As visitors, we only spoke English. Ordered coffee and some sweets. They forgot the sweets. We asked about the sweets and they guy said, “this is Germany, not England! You must speak German!”. Never expected to be a victim of racism by a Middle Eastern man in Germany!!!

We came here to try out the sweets. They are high quality and taste great. The service is also friendly. Maybe we will try the food next time. It also looks beautiful and tasty.

My partner and I had a poor experience with this place. We wanted to have a quick drink with a view and there were plenty of free tables available. We ordered a Cola and a coffee and got the biggest demonstrative side eye from the waiter. We can only asume it was due to waiter wishing the order was bigger. It made us feel unwelcome, so we followed the waiter and politely declined staying to which the reaction was "ok, bye bye". Up to you to decide if that's the service you'd find acceptable.

Disgraceful service. Hard to beat when it comes to unfriendliness. Pure rip off. The staff should be trained on how to behave towards customers. There are many better alternatives around.

Cadre sympa et les plats étaient bons, mais tout a été gâché quand au moment de régler le serveur a insisté pour ajouter un pourboire à l’addition qui n’était pas prévu. Il est devenu désagréable, voir agressif. Dommage, cela a gâché l’expérience.

Jag var där tillsammans med min man. Jag visade tydligt och klart om att jag inte dricker drinkar med alkohol i, trotts detta gick han och hämtade drink med alkohol i. När vi hade ätit klart så var jag nyfiken och ställde fråga till han som hämtade drinken om varför han hämtade drink med alkohol när jag tydligt visade och sa högt. Noter att det inte va mycket folk så det var inte så att vi inte hörde varandra. När jag ställde fråga då svarade han om att han inte hörde, och att han gjorde fel, men attityden förändrades och medans min man slog in koden för att betala så vänder servitrisen bort ansikte och svär på arabiska där han använder könsord, min man förstår arabiska men vi sa inget. Sedan hela tiden jag satt där så kollade de in kvinnor och visslade på de som gick förbi. Väldigt obehagligt upplevelser.

Culinary transport takes you into another world and all while sitting directly on the Alster, with a view of Hamburg's town hall! Nothing more is possible and if you need a vacation and don't have it yet, you can escape from everyday life for two hours and eat delicious food! Thank you Saliba

Ero stato in questo ristorante durante un viaggio di lavoro e mi ero trovato bene. Per questo ci sono tornato con mia moglie durante una vacanza. Come allora abbiamo preso due antipasti misti, in più un secondo, una bottiglia di acqua da 25 cl, due birre. I piatti tutti a base di verdure, abbiamo pagato € 101,50. Ci può stare in centro ad Amburgo, ma siamo un po’ al limite…al momento di pagare con la carta il cameriere mi ha chiesto “quanto volevo scrivere”…gli ho detto di mettere un paio di euro in più, e questo con arroganza mi dice “allora facciamo pure 101,50” come dire i tuoi due euro da pezzente puoi tenerli…non credo di dover aggiungere altro. Sono contento di non aver lasciato un centesimo di mancia, e di avergli pure detto quanto è arrogante, e che aveva proprio confermato le altre recensioni negative di altri clienti, che si erano lamentati dello stesso comportamento. Per quello che conta, NON MI VEDRANNO MAI PIÙ

After a relaxing walk along the Alster with my girlfriend, I was particularly excited about our visit to the restaurant. It has been a long time dream of mine to dine at Saliba, especially because my sister worked there when she was a student and always recommended it to me. We finally had the opportunity and I was looking forward to getting my own impressions. The restaurant did not disappoint: the elegant ambience and diverse menu offered a fine selection to suit every palate. I was particularly impressed by the main course, which not only tasted great but was also creatively and attractively presented. Despite the price range of 30-33 euros per main course, we found the quality and service adequate for the upscale experience we enjoyed. The service was as remarkable as the food itself. Our questions were answered in a friendly and competent manner, and the staff's recommendations rounded off our evening perfectly. Particularly impressive was the recommendation of a St. Thomas wine from Lebanon, which highlighted another facet of the restaurant – the ability to offer regional wines from the Middle East. Overall, our visit to Saliba was a culinary highlight that we can recommend to anyone who appreciates fine cuisine and a welcoming ambience.

The food was delicious, the view of the town hall and a bit of the Inner Alster was very nice, and various water birds could also be seen. Unfortunately the waiter didn't want to accept our tip because it was too small. At the same time he also insulted the Danes and Dutch because they always give such small tips...

Unfortunately it rained that day. Nevertheless, we were able to sit under cover and outside.
