Highly recommended. I had shawarma, and this too can be prepared in many different ways. I found the variation in spices very tasty. For starters, I had grilled haloumi on watermelon, which could have been a bit hotter as it was actually cold. The salad was a seasonal mix, but the veneer was incredibly tasty and perfect for summer, and nice to offset the spiciness of the flatbread. The portions were absolutely sufficient. I was alone and staying in the hotel next door, so it was a win-win situation for me. What I find a shame is that the hotel doesn't indicate that there is a restaurant on site, even though it is leased out to someone else. The ambience alone is very clean and not at all Syrian, but very well maintained. Service was always friendly and courteous.

A tip: go for the 3-course menu. This way, you'll definitely get a good deal. (Only if you order a starter, main course, and dessert.) Everything tastes fantastic!!!

According to the signage, Mazza opens at 5 p.m. We arrived at 5 p.m. sharp. Drink orders were taken after about 10 minutes, while food orders were taken much later. With such a high-priced menu, I expect a longer preparation time, but not for my meal to be served shortly before 7 p.m. After asking if we could still get our order, they offered us a selection of appetizers on the house, and it was delicious. But even when our group got their food, one person had to wait even longer and didn't receive their food until the first few had already finished. We only learned quite late that the kitchen apparently doesn't open until 6 p.m. A friendly reminder right at the beginning would have been helpful. The food itself is "plain" but very tasty.

Our granddaughter invited us to dinner at Mazza. The service and food were excellent! The beautiful ambiance makes you feel very comfortable. This restaurant is highly recommended. We'll be back!

Very tasty, but unfortunately, the atmosphere is lacking. It lacks decor and coziness. Unfortunately, the wait times for the dishes are also very long. It's a shame, because the kitchen has so much potential.

We are very disappointed that the otherwise great restaurant is no longer the same as it used to be. We were given a new chef as the reason. The food is no longer what it used to be. Very unfortunate. The otherwise lovely dessert was also changed... We will be back - everyone needs a second chance...I hope the old chef might come back.

We ate at this restaurant today and were very satisfied up to a point. The food was excellent as usual. We had a great 3 and 4 course menu and my wife had reserved a table for us and our daughter by phone in advance. The reservation was for 5:30 p.m. and we enjoyed our evening until the moment when we wanted to order an espresso and an additional dessert that was not included in the menu. To our surprise, the waitress asked us at 7 p.m. whether we could still make it in that time. When we asked what she meant, the waitress explained that we had to release the table soon because it was double reserved and our time was running out at 7:30 p.m. We found this approach and communication extremely rude and surprising. Such treatment leaves a negative impression, especially when you are still planning to place further orders. A reference to the limited time when making the reservation or upon arrival would have been appropriate. Despite the excellent food, this aspect of service leaves a bitter aftertaste.

It was always great, especially the appetizer platter and the lamb fillet.

Oh well! The small starters consist of pickled vegetables or canned... Mix! Nothing special! The main courses were quite average!

Wir waren vor Jahren mal dort, hatten uns gefreut, wieder mal dort zu essen. Wir waren die einzigen Gäste - und das am Sonntag Abend! Leider war das Essen sehr enttäuschend. Die Vorspeisen (18 Schüsselchen) fast alle flach! Hauptspeise: Fleisch ok, Saucen geht so, Reis zu mächtig. Nachtisch enttäuschend: Crème Brûlée war viel zu kalt, das Vanille Eis sehr langweilig. Service ok. Aber wir werden nicht wieder kommen.

The main course in the New Year's Eve menu was unfortunately very simple for the vegetarians, but the mixed starters were a dream.

The food is just great, especially the starters. The little bowls are great for sharing and there is something for everyone. I recommend the 3-course menu, which includes a starter, a main course of your choice and the dessert variations for €44, which is definitely cheaper than the individual courses.

I can say that delicious food and a cozy place where you can relax and unwind. We were with colleagues; one of the downsides was that we had to wait a long time for the main dish, but everything was at the highest level.

I am a wheelchair user and wanted to eat at Mazza Poppenbüttel with my family…. Accessibility (not available): As a wheelchair user, you have to use the hotel's delivery entrance to get to the restaurant in the dark. You are not offered any help. Cars are parked in front of the delivery entrance door, so you can't get out unless you're lucky enough to have a free parking space. If you are a wheelchair user, you should report to reception so that it can be opened downstairs. You can only get to the reception with steps (find the mistake)… There is no wheelchair toilet and the elevator from the basement to the ground floor closes the doors very quickly. Ambience: You find yourself in a dark and oppressive room that also serves as the hotel's dining room. Accordingly, guests are expected to dress casually. I needed my phone light to read the map. Eat: The food was good and you can't fault it. It's quite expensive, which doesn't suit the ambience. Conclusion: As a disabled person you don't feel welcome. You neither get help nor good barrier-free access. In general, the atmosphere is not inviting and the acoustics are very poor. Unfortunately, the food can't make up for that either. From me: thumbs down and it's bad that as a disabled person you still have to experience something like that in 2024. ATTENTION: the Mazza Eimsbüttel, on the other hand, is much more accommodating and barrier-free!

I ate in this lovely restaurant today and was very impressed by the ambience and the food. The varied starter was very tasty. I had the lamb fillet, which was the perfect doneness. The service was very attentive! I would highly recommend!

It doesn’t close at 23:00! 21:10 I asked for a table for 2 and I was informed that the restaurant is closed!!! 2 hours earlier!!

It was my first time at Mazza Poppenbüttel. The dishes were great but very lightly seasoned. The real oriental taste experience was missing. That was a real shame. Except for the starter bowls, which were really great, the main courses and desserts were normal, familiar food. Chicken roulade and lamb fillet good, but not outstanding, The price is actually not appropriate for that. There are better and cheaper Syrians in Hamburg who also convey the Orient in their food. The atmosphere is rather uncomfortable. The room very small. The tables are very close together, probably in order to be able to place as many as possible. It's loud, it's almost impossible to have a conversation...

It is the restaurant of a hotel. Basically tasty, but definitely no explosions in taste, everything is only very lightly seasoned - probably to make it as easy as possible for hotel guests. Atmosphere is nice, but a bit old in one place or another. The service was average, i.e. a long wait for the plates to be cleared, a very long wait (+45 minutes) for the main courses but free dessert as an apology. But the service itself was very friendly and helpful. 3/5 - we wouldn't go back but it's not a bad place.

Finally managed to visit the matzah: Wonderful atmosphere, great menu, magical, very nice service that explained everything. The food: flavor and spice explosion! The starters were the highlight, the main course (lamb fillet and hip) was great and the desserts (sorbet, “sin” and the goat cheese: 😋😋😋) Thank you very much for a great Friday evening! We will be back!

Nice atmosphere with very good food! Be sure to try the appetizer platter! The main courses are also excellent, as is the wine from Lebanon! Unfortunately a bit noisy when it's full, but if you come at 5 p.m. it's more bearable.

Total überbewertet, Preis Leistungs Verhältnis stimmt überhaupt nicht. Das Essen teilweise geschmacklos, kleine Portionen, von einen 3 Gänge Menü wird man nicht satt. Der Service war nicht professionell . Das WLAN funktionierte nicht und eine Karten Zahlung war somit nicht möglich ,scheint hier irgendwie System zu haben, man könne ja von der gegenüberliegenden Bank Geld abheben, war die lapidare Aussage vom Service Personal. Einmal und nicht wieder.

Tolles Ambiente und gute WeinauswHl, aber unfreundlicher Service und das Essen dem Preis nicht angemessen.

Prinzipiell gemütliche Atmosphäre, aber es fühlt sich ein bisschen wie eine Hotelgastronomie an. Preise ordentlich teuer. Hatte das Lammfilet, geschmacklich okay, aber sehr wenig Reis als Beilage und allgemein hatten die Gerichte wenig Schärfe/typische Gewürzmerkmale (vermutlich aufs deutsche Publikum "normalisiert"). Auch nach Nachfrage leider kein syrischer Wein (angeblich gibt es nur libanesischen Wein, obwohl in der Nachrecherche offensichtlich Wein aus der Küstenstadt Latakia produziert wird, siehe z.B. Weingut Barglyus). Trotz Vermerk bei "Open Table", dass American Express, Diners Club, EC-Karte, Mastercard, Visa als Zahlungsmittel akzeptiert werden, wurde nur Bargeld akzeptiert. Werden vermutlich nicht noch einmal kommen.

Sehr moderate Preise, tolle Mazzas

Das Essen war in Ordnung und schön angerichtet, aber der Hauptgang (Lammhüfte) ließ nach der Vorspeise ganze 90 Minuten auf sich warten... Eine Entschuldigung kam erst auf Nachfrage. - In anderen Restaurants hätte man sicherlich ein Getränk o.ä. zur Wiedergutmachung bekommen. Hier nicht. Wer ein ruhiges Ambiente beim Essen mag, sollte außerhalb der Hauptzeiten kommen.

Wir waren leider nicht begeistert. Der Service war nicht gut, die Bedienung mehr am Handy als am Tisch, lange Wartezeiten. Essen okay aber leider auch nicht überragend. Mezze leider sehr fade. Leider keine Kartenzahlung möglich, willkommen im Jahr 2023!

It's a great Syrian restaurant. I definitely recommend going with one of the menus. The mixed starter plates are wonderful. We all went with a different lamb for main course. I had the lamb filet which came in this wonderful rich creamy feta cream sauce. Followed by a mixed desert. It was plenty of food, for a fair price. Forgot to take pics this time but I'll add them next time round.

Wir waren das erste Mal dort essen und es war unfassbar lecker! Die Vorspeisenvariationen waren nicht nur toll anzusehen, sondern haben auch sehr gut geschmeckt. Das gesamte Menü war klasse, jeder Gang hat einfach nur sehr gut geschmeckt und die Qualität der Lebensmittel war hochwertig! Der Personal war freundlich und aufmerksam. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!

Hervorragendes syrisches Restaurant mit exzellentem Service. Mein Highlight sind hier immer wieder aufs Neue die Vorspeisenvariationen.

Es war okay, aber die Rafinesse, so wie es mal war, und zugegeben es ist schon ein paar Jahre her, hier nicht mehr vorhanden. Gefühlt hat man sich hier selber aufgegeben und ist nur noch eine Kopie von sich selbst. In diesem Sinne werden wir dieses Restaurant auch nicht mehr besuchen, geschweige weiterempfehlen. Schade, aber es gibt ja auch noch andere.

Eigentlich waren wir dieses Mal etwas enttäuscht, denn der Pfiff der orientalischen Würzung fehlte total - schade!

Spektakuläres Essen, toller Service! Das 4-Gänge-Menü lohnt sich in jedem Fall. Draußen ein bisschen laut wegen der Straße. Aber das sind die Gegebenheiten. Rundum toll!

Der Bewertung von Seasiders stimme ich zu. Der wunderbare Geschmack des Orients mit seinen besonderen Aromen ist dem Mazza in Poppenbüttel leider verloren gegangen. Selbst die berühmte Vorspeise „Mazza „ schmeckt relativ neutral bis langweilig. Der Küche fehlen Gewürze und Inspiration. Der Service war gut. Schade. Wir werden uns eine Alternative suchen müssen.

Das Essen ist einmalig gut. Wir aßen die Mazza und Lammhüfte. Es war alles köstlich! Wir kommen wieder.

Vor 2 Jahren fantastisch gegessen, war die Vorfreude entsprechend groß. Geschmacklich leider nichts mehr orientalisch - fad und nichtssagend. Als süße Köstlichkeiten des Orients wurde Vanilleeis mit roter Grütze angeboten - und zwar nur das. Ein schlechter Witz. Wir kommen nicht wieder.

Ziemlich kleine Portionen aber das Restaurant ist denke ich auch eher darauf ausgelegt, dass man mehrere Gänge bestellt. Die Zucchini war sehr lecker, Halloumi und Hackbraten ganz gut. Der Service war etwas langsam, dennoch aber sehr freundlich.

Ein wunderschöner Laden, mit einen sehr heimischen und gemütlichen Ambiente! Neben der großen Auswahl an leckeren Speisen, ist der Service auch eine 10/10! Das wohl beste syrische Restaurant im ganzen Großraum Hamburg! Jederzeit einen Besuch wert!

Den Anfangs positiven Eindruck, haben die Preise korrigiert. Für das was serviert wurde war die Rechnung heftig. Es hat gut geschmeckt aber das Preisleistungsverhältnis passt nicht, auch nicht für Hamburg.

Eine tolle syrische Küche. Die Vorspeisen sind schon fast ein Hauptgericht. Ich hatte das 4-Gänge-Menü - 1. Vorspeisen Auswahl, 2. Garnelen, 3. Lammhüfte mit Minz-Soße und Reis, 4. Süße Verführung.

Zum ersten Mal und leider auch zum letzten Mal dieses Restaurant besucht. Sehr unfreundlich, deutlich überteuert Die Vorspeise für 18€ ist schon fast eine Frechheit…. Lecker ja, aber wenn es sich um 6 Teelöffel mit Dekoration für 18€ handelt ist das nicht zu verstehen….. Schade

Die Beurteilung von Tom B. kann ich leider nur bestätigen. Das Schlemmermenü war sehr gut. Leider ist der Service wenig engagiert, bis auf eine junge Kellnerin, und vollkommen unbefriedigend. Zu lange Wartezeiten z.B. beim Abräumen von Gläsern und Tellern, keine Fragen nach Aperitif oder Esspresso. Hier fehlen eindeutig Fachkräfte im Service. Hier müsste sich Einiges grundlegend ändern, um mit dem guten Essen auf Augenhöhe zu kommen.
