We had made a reservation, as the restaurant is always very busy, and received a very friendly welcome. The music was subtle and the overall atmosphere relaxed. The service staff was very attentive, professional, and very friendly and welcoming. The food was a dream! Subtly seasoned, tastefully served, vegetables with a light bite, meat melted in the mouth, and portions that were filling – simply perfect! A clear 5-star evening in every respect!

Our curiosity was rewarded!!! To be honest, we spontaneously decided to eat at this restaurant after watching the show "My Local - Your Local"! The dining room is bright, welcoming, quiet, pleasantly warm, and cozy. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming! The food we ordered—tomato salad, olives, and garlic dip—was delicious. The squid tubes and prawns were also very, very tasty! Our conclusion: We'd love to come back!

I can't explain the number of extremely positive reviews. I felt the portion size was significantly too small; even my very petite wife felt the same way. After our beloved Portuguese restaurant in Bremerhaven unexpectedly closed, we tried this place. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. The quality of the ingredients and the taste largely left a lot to be desired. Especially with the prawns; there's not much you can do wrong with a raw piece of meat. The sauces tasted musty. When clearing the table, no one even asked if we were ready or if we were enjoying it. We weren't even looked at. The food here isn't exactly expensive, but in relation to the quality offered, it's too expensive in my opinion. However, I found the dishes to be really very nice.

Don't let the amateurs who have no idea about the wonderful Portuguese culture and cuisine annoy you! Best regards

A fantastic restaurant! You walk in and immediately feel "at home." The staff is exceptionally friendly and customer-oriented. The ambiance is appealing. There are plenty of tables for two, ensuring a certain degree of privacy. The food selection is fantastic, and the value for money is excellent. The food itself leaves nothing to be desired. Other restaurants in the area would struggle to match Sagres.

On our first evening in Cuxhaven, we went to Sagres, of course. As always, we had a delicious meal.

We travel a lot and eat out frequently, either locally or on the go. But we haven't had a meal as delicious as this in a long time. And at a completely reasonable price, too. Everything was perfect here: we got a table right away without a reservation, super friendly service, the food came quickly, and it tasted incredibly good. I had no idea you could add so much flavor to a grilled fries plate. For dessert, a divine pasteis de nata. We're already considering another short break in Cuxhaven just for this restaurant.

Despite forgetting to make a reservation, we were offered a seat in this superbly beautiful and authentic restaurant. The food was just like I'd expect from home, served on beautiful earthenware. The waiters were super friendly. The only "unfortunate" thing was that they didn't have any non-alcoholic Super Bock/Sagres. But that's just nitpicking. We'll be back on our next vacation. Always fantastic – everything just fits. I immediately felt welcome. The food was once again very good, the service was excellent, and the value for money was right. We were very satisfied with the tapas, the redfish fillet, the salmon steak, and the Francesinha. Both the quantity and the taste were perfect. And to finish, don't forget the Licor Beirão.

Absolutely recommended! We had various starters: clams in white wine sauce, plaice fillet, bacalhau (cod) Gomes de Sá style, and the grilled chicken, beef, and chorizo. Everything was absolutely delicious. We also really enjoyed the Freitas red wine, which was pleasantly smooth. And if you're still full, a pastel de nata (cream custard puff pastry tart) is always a good choice. The very friendly staff rounds everything off perfectly. A must for Portugal lovers. We'd love to come back next time! ♥️ 🇵🇹

We were at Sagres in July 2025! If you want something different to eat with a lovely atmosphere, then Sagres is the place for you. The food is delicious, whether meat or fish! Reservations are recommended. The staff is friendly and accommodating!

The prices are completely exorbitant, and the service is terrible. Shortly after we received our starter, the waiter arrived with the main course. We've been traveling to Portugal regularly for 40 years and have Portuguese friends. We've never been served anything like this in Portugal. The drink prices are also a complete joke. We absolutely don't understand the good reviews on this site.

It's like "coming home." This time I only ate "tapas," which in Portuguese are actually called "petiscos." I assume that's due to the German clientele, as is the cheese, which is strongly reminiscent of Gouda. I wish they had a bit more courage to be individual here. Everything was delicious, but the "mussels in broth" brought tears to my eyes. Soooo delicious... I'm already looking forward to the next time.

Somehow, the food overall wasn't all that great. I've had much better fried anchovies, and the Francesinha didn't really blow me away either. The sauce in the Francesinha was very tasty. We thought €14 for a small plate with an egg, three potatoes, and some vegetables was a bit steep. Not bad, but I've had better.

We celebrated my son's wedding there on May 23rd. I personally wasn't happy with the catering; there was a lot of room for improvement, but it was still a lovely evening.

Went there for the first time with my girlfriend, we liked it so much that my husband and I made a reservation there again for our next visit to Cux. He was also very enthusiastic. The food is very attractively prepared, tastes simply delicious, and the salad is crisp and fresh. The service is courteous and you don't have to wait long for drinks and food.

The food is just super delicious. We visited Sagres for the first time in April 2025 and were thrilled. Table reservations are always recommended - especially if you are traveling as a group. After ordering, our 6 dishes arrived within 15 minutes - great! The tapas plate and the octopus are definitely recommended. Plus delicious Super Bock. The service is friendly and unobtrusive - but we could have asked every now and then whether anything was missing. There's still a bit of room for improvement in terms of ambience - but no matter: the food more than makes up for it! We'll definitely be back!

I worked in Portugal for around 1.75 years and am always happy to be able to indulge in culinary memories here at Sagres. Although I only come to Cuxhaven once or twice a year, the boss greets me like a friend of the house. Otherwise, the service could be a little more attentive, but I like to take the "Hausfreund" card and go straight to the counter...which isn't always a good thing because DELICIOUS pasteis are waiting there. Portuguese desserts are incredibly delicious...and full of delicious calories. I would love to come back.

Family-run restaurant with delicious Portuguese dishes. I had the beef fillet on the hot stone and found it delicious. Very attentive friendly service. Atmosphere is still a bit cool, but that's definitely coming - we've probably just moved in.

Super great restaurant, sooo fine and extremely tasty, everything was seasoned, the boss was very friendly and everyone tried really hard... if we didn't live so far away, we would definitely be there all the time... there is no such great restaurant near us... I can only recommend it 😍

We ate at the Sagres Restaurant on Steinmarner Strasse for the first time today and were very impressed, so much so that we are planning our next visit soon. The stockfish (Bacalhau) baked in the oven with potato cubes, egg, onion strips, olives and parsley was particularly tasty. 😋
