Royal India Restaurant in München

Service was pretty mid tbh. 7 bucks for a bottle of water is wild but hey maybe that's just me 🤷‍♂️ Food was good though.

We decided before arriving at the Marriott west to jump off the #18 tram from the HBF and try this restaurant as it was just a block off the tram stop and close to the hotel. We were not disappointed for the last minute decision. The restaurant was laid out in a very smart way without all the typical tacky Indian stuff sprinkled everywhere. It was very tasteful and the seating was set up so you could have four cost corners to sit and enjoy the food and people around you. Clearly this was a neighborhood restaurant and very popular even on a Tuesday night, always a good sign. We shared the paneer dish and a chicken Tika Masala which I really liked as it was more like a true Indian gravy and not a sauce. Both dishes were great as was the large slices of Naan bread. I was saved from yet another bad overpriced meal at the Marriott. Munich has many good ethic restaurants and this is one.

Good food! Highly recommend Mango Lasse, Kohlapuri with Chicken or Paneer - but beware it’s spicy, and the butter chicken. For me the Jalfrezi was mediocre but others have recommended it.

Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. The Bhindi Masala was a specially delicious vegetarian dish and the service was very kind and helpful. 10/10 recommend

Best Indian food I've ever had, very reasonable price. My waiter Sahil was extremely nice and friendly. I will for sure come back despite the 1.5 hour long journey to get there from where I live.

The waiters here were quite attentive and immediately came to collect orders, serve food and drinks, which is quite appreciated. We found the kebabs quite excellent, and presented quite well. Unlike quite a few Indian restaurants, the food was well spiced and not bland. They had confirmed with us if we would prefer a spicier version and we requested the same. The naans were also quite well prepared, decently sized. The main course meals we had including Dal Makhni, which is missing in the menu of quite a few Indian restaurants, and Chicken kadahi were well prepared with a good portion size. As there was some ongoing repairs inside, we had to sit outside, but enjoyed the sitting area. Thanks to the team for being attentive to our needs!

This place was pretty good. I was doing my laundry at the coin laundromat when someone said, "We've had too much German food, let's have Indian food." We waited in line and had dinner right outside. Surprisingly, the food was really good, so I highly recommend it. If you're getting tired of German schnitzel, this is a good option. They have tandoori chicken and butter naan, the spiciest curry (vindaloo?), but it wasn't too spicy for our Korean palates. It was nice to have rice after a long time...

Our favorite Indian restaurant 🍛🚗 The food always arrives hot, fresh, and incredibly delicious. The curries are spicy and authentic, and the naan is fluffy and flavorful. Delivery times are excellent, and the portions are generous – we order regularly and are always delighted. Highly recommended!

The restaurant is halal and has a halal certificate at the door. The food is very delicious and the service is very excellent.

The food was excellent. The spice level was perfect and portions were filling. The atmosphere was relaxed and beautiful with an air of sophistication. Service also also exemplary. Food was delivered quickly, plates were cleared promptly, and the complimentary dishes were fantastic.

We had a wonderful time at the royal India restaurant in Munich! What's a Grace meal, a flavor and perfectly adjusted to our liking in terms of spiciness. The nuns where some of the best we have ever had and the mango lassi was splendid. Thank you so much to our waiter Sahil and for the possibility of giving us a taste of your Litchee Vodka! We recommend 100%

A beautiful restaurant, very good food and excellent service from Sahil. I would highly recommend. I had the Karahi Mutton which was tender and the Sandi Jalfrezi, both very good and authentic.

Food here was excellent in very nice surroundings with a nice atmosphere, we often eat Indian food and this restaurant was second to none, we were served by Sahil and Rocky they were both very friendly and helpful. I had a wonderful experience at Royal India. The food was absolutely delicious – full of flavor, rich in taste, and beautifully prepared. Every dish felt authentic and freshly made, and you can really tell how much care goes into the cooking. The service was friendly and attentive, which made the visit even more enjoyable. We didn't eat in this restaurant because of alcohol drinks was served there. We just have a quick look to have uncomfortable feelings that they don't served halal food.

Very clean and delicious restaurant, I recommend it to Arabs. The samosa is the best dish, especially with the yogurt and mint sauce. Delicious Food & Warm Hospitality at Royal India Munich: I recently dined at Royal India in Munich and had a fantastic experience. The food was freshly made and full of authentic flavors. Very delicious Indian food. We ordered chicken tikka, chicken masala, and naan bread with butter and garlic. Their service was elegant and respectful.

The food was below average, everything a bit vague and boring. Service was average. The music from the ceiling speakers was too loud, constantly blasting. The restrooms weren't particularly modern, but at least they were reasonably clean, but as in almost all restaurants: overflowing wastepaper baskets. Overall, it was okay at best. A shame; I expected more.

The food is always great: fresh, warm, and perfectly seasoned, even the rice! I've never eaten anything there that didn't taste good. 😍 The drivers are always super friendly, apologizing for the 7 minutes (perfect time considering there's construction all around us). The restaurant is also nice for dinner. 🧡

If you’re vegetarian or vegan, this place is a must-visit. The variety of veggie curries and lentil dishes is amazing. I loved the baigan ka bharta, Everything tasted fresh, and the spices were just right—warm but not overpowering. And staff was very friendly specially the boy Rockey😉.

The food is delicious and the portions are very reasonable. The outdoor seating is comfortable and the service is quick, but they lack a smile ☺️ a bit. I rarely meet Indians with a German personality 😅 But it's worth a try 😋 What's surprising is that the appetizers weren't served before the famous sauces and crackers in Indian restaurants 🤨

Rocky provided Excellent service and a treat at the end. Food was very good. We all ate past the point of being full. Nice outdoor deck with big Umbrellas. We had Butter chicken, Tikka Masala, Jalfrezi, Naan. All good!

I've been in Germany for two years, after a long time felt like home , every dish tasted very good, thanks to Rocky and all the staff made sure our time was well spent in the restaurant. Had a great time with my friends.

Absolutely incredible! The naan at this Indian restaurant was hands down the best I’ve had in my life — perfectly soft, warm, and just the right balance of fluffy and crisp.

Poor service. Beer served warm the guy just looked at us puzzled when we said we didn't want it. Could of offered us another. Also papadams served AFTER curry served and said the waiter forgot. The new waiter couldn't comprehend we did not want it anymore. Currys were poor and simple cannot understand the good reviews. You need to educate the waiters please. Totally lacking in customer service.

One of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had — “Royal India” is a joke of a name. From the start, the staff were rude, dismissive, and completely lacking any sense of customer service. The food? Mediocre at best — nothing that justifies the hype or the price. And to top it off, the place is shockingly unwelcoming to families with children. But the real disgrace was the waiter’s behavior. At the end of the meal, he muttered “Sab gandha kar diya” (“you made everything dirty”) — an unbelievably disrespectful remark that left us stunned. I’ve never encountered such arrogance in a restaurant. If this is their idea of hospitality, they clearly need a serious reality check. No trace of “royalty” here — just bad attitudes, subpar food, and a complete lack of basic decency. We walked out offended and disgusted. Never again. I strongly urge others to think twice before stepping into this place based on misleading reviews.

For me the best Indian restaurant in Munich. The ambiance is great and the staff is warm, welcoming, quick and very polite. But the star of the show is the food. A great selection of masterfully executed Indian dishes. You won't be disappointing.

Royal India, (an Indian restaurant in Munich, Germany). We visited this place in May/2025. The atmosphere here was most welcoming and each dish was attractively presented at the table. The smell of each dish was pleasant and the taste simply delicious. I also admired the friendliness of the staff. They were polite and respectful to the customers. Over all I would definitely say ‘the food was delectable & yummy’…..Thank you Ranjana for the “gulab jamun” at the end of our meal. I highly recommend this restaurant in Munich, If you are in this city, as a tourist, visitor, or a resident & wanna try OR simply like Indian cuisine, you gotta visit ROYAL INDIA. We had palak paneer twice. I found it a bit too salty, but my companion found it very tasty. The garlic naan was very good. And the value for money was good, too. The service was very attentive and friendly. Unfortunately, our tablecloth was a bit dirty, and the windowsill at my table was dusty; that just shouldn't happen.

We were on holiday in Munich and decided we wanted to eat Indian, searched for Indian restaurants and Royal India was one of the first ones to come up. It was really delicious, good service and nice staff. We started with some Naan bread and papadums and Samoas, and ordered chicken and lamb respectively. It was so delicious and tender that it can only be recommended. This is truly an experience 😊😊

Excellent and authentic "Indian" (India is famously vast, and there's no such thing as "the" Indian food) food combined with excellent service. All this at a good price-performance ratio. Highly recommended.

The best food and the most wonderful meal ☝️

Let's get to the worst part: The delivery service was a disaster – we had to wait 1 hour 40 minutes (!!!) for our food. We called twice and were only told (or lied to!), "The driver is on the way." We were 10 minutes away from the restaurant, mind you. When no one arrived after 30 minutes, we contacted the restaurant again, clearly not amused. The short answer was, "The driver is stuck but will be right there." Then they hung up. After exactly 1:40 hours, we received our food and, after the long wait and a hefty price tag of €70 for three dishes and bread, we had high expectations – which were not met when we tasted it. This restaurant is not worth recommending, neither the food nor the takeaway. The bad review is now online because, despite two phone calls, there was no apology whatsoever.

We ordered online based on the good reviews but were massively disappointed. The food was okay overall but overpriced. Paying over €70 for three naan breads and three bowls of various masalas is pretty outrageous, especially when the portions aren't that big. Taste is subjective, but what prompted me to write reviews is simply the unpunctuality, unfriendliness, and the over 2-hour wait for our food. We were repeatedly put off on the phone, with the message "the driver was already on the way" and similar messages. We were less than 10 minutes away from the restaurant. If you don't want to deliver, just say so but don't offer to serve and then make people wait.

We ordered for pickup. Unfortunately, the order was incomplete, and my emails only offered to replace the missing item with a voucher. No one responded to my request to refund the money via PayPal. Unfortunately, no one responded to my multiple email inquiries. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend the restaurant.

Classic Indian food. Those who are looking for classic Indian cuisine without the sophistication - this is the place. All the dishes were delicious, you just have to pay attention to the level of spiciness of the dishes you order. The spiciness here is authentic and it is a step above what we know in Western or Middle Eastern cuisine. The restaurant is classically furnished in Indian style and simply. The place is clean, the service is very good. Highly recommended for lovers of Indian cuisine, the price is reasonable and not expensive.

I've tried around 20 Indian restaurants in Munich and Royal India is right at the top. Especially Fish Tikka and Birjani absolutely first class. The prices are completely reasonable. Service very professional.

Divine and tasty food. We had butter chicken and vegetable kofta curry. Generous portions and overall value for money! We were well looked after by Sahil and Rocky. Definitely worth a visit.

As soon as you enter you feel like you are on a little trip to India - stylish furnishings, pleasant atmosphere and incredibly friendly service.(Abhi) The food? Absolutely outstanding. Literally the best Indian food we have had in Germany. They have excellent value lunch menu on weekdays. We had chicken kabab and lamb curry from their lunch menu, wirh lassi to drink, and thoroughly enjoyed the food. The food tastes amazing, is super authentic and the place has a very nice vibe with quite friendly staff. An absolute must try place.
