The place was packed with Indians, but I still found the food mediocre. We had paneer (cream cheese) in spinach and chicken in chili sauce, based on a creative recipe from the chef. The spinach was creamed spinach from the freezer, which is probably where the chicken, in the form of breaded, pre-made chicken nuggets, also came from, and it also had a slight aftertaste. Unfortunately, it wasn't a feast of aromas and flavors like I expect from good Indian cuisine, especially street food. But, to leave the kitchen in the village for a moment, we ate everything. It's a restaurant chain with four locations in Bavaria. The name translates roughly as "The Real Taste" or "The Taste of India" (desi or dessi = South Asia, tadka = tempering).

Welcoming waiter, very patient and attentive. Good size portions. Chicken chilli was a bit sweet for our taste. Pani puri was brilliant

We went there to try the Kolhapuri chicken thaali and we were impressed by the food and the service. The tamba and pandhra rassa, paired with ghadi chi poli and amazing chicken curry reminded us of the food we would eat in and around Kolhapur. A must try. We will visit again to try different dishes.

Everyone who is living in munich or any other cities… you should definitely visit this place…either you are missing Indian food or not…

We liked starters. One must eat Vadapav when you go there. It tasted like Maharashtrian Vadapav. Chilli paneer and chicken fried rice was ok.

We ordered food to pick up. It wasn't really bad, but it wasn't particularly good either. The dal was a bit watery and not very intensely seasoned. The butter chicken tasted mostly like tomato sauce. All in all, okay food, but it could be better.

Dessi Tadka with a double “S” is a place that packs a punch above its weight category. This quite looking restaurant from outside is hustling inside with a charming restaurant manager, Mr Khan and Ms Shivani. The first night was an order-in, since i lodge opposite this restaurant whenever i come to Munich. Mr Khan was kind enough to suggest a dish plus deliver it personally in the bone chilling cold of Munich. About the food, Home made Chicken Curry, Tawa Mutton, Chilly Chicken, Chai and the Naan’s (both Garlic and Butter) don't disappoint and hit all the right spots! Trust me i have dined 4 back to back days and just have dined alone in one corner of the restaurant but the love and warmth provided by the food and the staff is something that only a good Indian restaurant can provide. The chefs inside the kitchen, plus the always smiling sardar-ji at the bar add to the charm of the place. This is not a paid/hosted Ad but just an appreciation review for a job well done by the owners, service staff and chefs! The best indian food i have had so far in Munich. Tips:- Tell them to make it desi/homemade style so that they dont hold back on the spicing (for germans auch) P.S i am a chef so trust this review

Half fried papad, papdi chat was lots of papdi mixed with spiced yogurt, that’s it! And Jamoon was smelling of old oil. Service was very friendly. Found prices high for the quality of food served.

Little bit overhyped, I have been there twice very clumsy place , overcrowded when I was there. Last time I ordered all vegetarian, non spicy for kid and normal spicy for us, the waitress messed it up, kids item was super hot. Food is ok, normal north Indian style , may be bit better than lot of Indian restaurants inside the city, matter of personal taste.

Food pretty tasteless and bland. For rice and soup and drinks 30 euros is too much. I make it myself for 1 euro and it tastes better. Too bad. Service was very nice but poor language skills.

Hosted my daughter’s birthday party and had arranged Kolhapuri thali. The thali was really good. The guests were super happy and highly appreciated the food. Utmost care was taken by the owner to serve the thali in the most authentic way - from Tamda and Pandhra rassa to the Sol Khadi- everything was delicious. I highly recommend dining there.

We went for dinner nd tried Hakka noodles and paneer maskawala with garlic naan.... It was good .... Shivani greeted us with a smile and was prompt with service.... will visit again..

Very good food and nice service. We were also asked how spicy we wanted it. German spicy was pretty spicy, but if you want it right you can also get Indian spicy if you wish. The three of us paid a total of just under 80 euros with three main courses, two starters and eight drinks without a tip. The food portions were large. So very fair prices. Gladly again!

We visited this restaurant yesterday (specially this branch). We ordered dosa, kids noodles and kadhai paneer. We heard the chef/cook screaming and saying to other staff that it will take time as tava is not hot (this was 20mins after order was placed). He looked angry and frustrated. Then after a while the kids noodles came, luckily before the kid tried the noodles we thought to taste it. The noodles were stale and smelled bad. They took it away. Dosa was ok. Then came the main course kadhai paneer and it was nothing less than MTR/haldiram ready to eat packets and wasn't fresh as well. Never again!

My only small regret was missing out on the rasmalai, which we were excited to try. Otherwise, I’d give Desi Tadka a solid 4.8 out of 5. It’s a must-visit spot in Munich for anyone who loves authentic Indian cuisine!

#update- this restaurant was supposed to refund today. On calling they said you wrote a review about the incident so we can’t refund. Disgusting and unprofessional behaviour from the restaurant staff. Basically they denied our own money. And they are behaving like they were about to do a favour by refunding our money. And they got offended because of our honest review, so they denied the refund. Most pathetic behaviour we came across in years. ———————————————————————- We went to Desi tadka today on 1st October. We ordered chaat and mocktails also tawa mutton and rotis. We got full after eating chaat so asked the restaurant to pack the tawa mutton and rotis. After coming home we found dal tadka instead of mutton. And we made payment for mutton. On calling the restaurant all they managed to say it was a mistake and it happens sometimes. On forcing them for a solution. They said when we will go next time they will compensate with tawa mutton. We repeatedly told them it’s not possible for us to visit their Bodensee Straße outlet as it is far away from our home and went there for a work. Which is 1.5 hours. We ate earlier in other outlets of desi tadka and recommended it to a lot of our friends as it was good. After today’s incident and the way they shrugged it off by just saying sorry and mistakes happen. We are disappointed of their service and hospitality. We recommend people to get take away on their risk. As they can send anything irresponsibly . They didn’t even bother to refund the difference amount of dal tadka and tawa mutton.

I tried many Indian restaurants in Munich. But now I guess I found restaurant which serve every Indian dish with same authenticity. Recently, I had Chicken Kolhapuri Thali, after that I had Thali 3 times after every weekend. Sol kadhi, Pandhara Rassa and chicken sukha from Thali were top of the game. I highly recommend this place for authentic Indian dishes.
