Route 66 Diner in Berlin

I've been coming to Route 66 for almost 20 years now. Unfortunately, I have to say that the food is declining in quality, and so is the service. But it's simply unacceptable that after all this time, the owner still hasn't managed to repair or replace the furniture, which is now falling apart. Sorry, but it's just embarrassing. Especially since you can actually hurt yourself on the broken, ripped seat cushion. This urgently needs to be addressed!

Great!! You may have to wait longer for your food like we did, but it's worth it.

The ribs were unfortunately extremely greasy and slimy. None of the four of us liked them. The fact that the jukeboxes at the table still displayed "1€ = 3 songs," accepted coins, but were broken, was met with nothing more than a shrug from the staff.

The Turkish man refused to serve me.

Good for live football, smoking allowed upstairs.

We love going here for lunch; the cheeseburger and Philadelphia pasta are amazing. The fries are the best in town. The seats are a little dated, but it's still very comfortable. The staff is always friendly, and they play great music. We also love the milkshakes there.

We felt like we were in an authentic American diner. The atmosphere is so coolly American. Really cool. We reserved a table for Friday evening and were able to get there 20 minutes early. There's a lot to choose from. The prices aren't too expensive. We had burgers and fries. Both were incredibly tasty and fresh. We also had a homemade soda and a milkshake. The shake was absolutely delicious. They even serve food until 1 a.m. We really enjoyed it.

The best days are over at Route 66. We live nearby and have been going there on and off for about 10 years. Our last visit was a few weeks ago. This restaurant is neglected. The seats are worn and partially damaged. The food is cooked and served with a lot of fat and without love. I've always liked the concept of Route 66. But as long as this neglect persists, I probably won't go there again.

It's a typical tourist diner. The ambiance looks stylish. The food is okay. All in all, a tourist can't complain. I'd like to give the diner another plus point: they also show football. Bundesliga, UEFA matches, and international matches. After asking if they also show individual matches, I was initially told: "Yes, they also show individual Champions League matches." Great joy. Then the disappointment: when I arrived to watch a single match, I was told that only conference matches were being shown. BIG TROUBLE! (But perhaps the waitress couldn't distinguish between conference matches and individual matches.) I then went to the restaurant across the street: Café Sindey. They also show football, including individual matches! And the food is at least as good, if not better, and cheaper. So if you want to watch football, including individual matches, go to CAFÉ SIDNEY!

Alone for the movie -worthy atmosphere in the evening and the aesthetics of this beautiful American style Diner this place is a must visit in Charlottenburg!

Great place, you feel like you've been transported back to the 1950s. The food was delicious and the portions were large.

I know this place since the Americans were Berlin and I used to love it and still do. But I the quality has declined a bit. The meat is still OK but my fires were fatty and it took 45 minutes for the food to arrive. But I’ll give it another try maybe I was just unlucky that day.

We were a group of 13. The food was delicious, but could have been presented more beautifully. Delicious cocktails and dessert. The waitress could have checked in on the tables a little more often. All the staff were very friendly.

I'm quite picky when it comes to burgers, and my burger there impressed me. Great meat, great bun, and you get exactly what's listed on the menu: no extra sauces or toppings. The cocktails were delicious and reasonably priced. However, the lighting was so authentically dark that we had to use our smartphone cameras to read the menu :) Otherwise – a definite recommendation!

Place is typical 50s style restaurant. The decor is tired, worn and in need of repair/replacement. The bench seats in our booth weren’t anchored and moved whenever we moved to stand up. The food was mediocre at best. We ordered burgers, club sandwich and nachos (not recommended). Milkshake didn’t appear to have any ice cream in it. They offer a huge selection of American favorites. Beer was cold. Men’s room smelled like urine as soon as I entered stairway where it was located. A real turn off. Lots of 50s American photos and memorabilia. Being in Berlin, there are many more interesting restaurants available.

I had a vegan burger with BBQ sauce and vegan bacon. It was by far the best vegan burger I've ever had, and better than most meat burgers. It came with fantastic homemade fries.

Fast, attentive service, good, quick food... but... some of the benches have completely damaged leather/artificial leather... that's not acceptable.

Incredibly bad food. Everyone's tastes differ, but selling three half-old rolls as garlic bread (freshly baked baguette) is outrageous. The "decoration" was wilted lettuce leaves. (Like on every plate.) Stay away from the chicken skins. The chicken wasn't seared and was inedible. Who knows if it was even heated. In any case, it came from the freezer, just like the sour cream. The "bacon fries" were absolutely outrageous. The fries (the only good thing) were smothered with an indefinable, flavorless cheese dip. Unfortunately, everything was cold, too. The burger wasn't good either. The bun was completely crispy and crumbled. But, besides the fries, it was still the best. Our waitress saved the evening for us. The complaint was handled in a super friendly and understandable way. Hence this review. Without our waitress, it would have been a 1-star review. We will avoid this place.

We wanted to have cocktails around 7:40 PM today. We sat outside, and after 20-30 minutes of no attention, we left. What a pity.

A very nice American-style restaurant. Delicious food with friendly service and a very pleasant atmosphere at a slightly higher price. The restrooms were clean and nicely decorated. I recommend trying the beef dishes.

The place has this vintage American style. Its cosy, especially on the outside Terrasse during the warm seasons. Calm place next to Ludwigkirchplatz, the streets are calm, a lot of green, which gives it a peaceful atmosphere. The food and service are ok in my experience, though could be better. Anyhow a pleasant experience for me.

Nice American diner-style burger restaurant. Long and short red benches accommodate 2-14 people. Tables can be added as needed. Service is fast and friendly. The fries are top-notch, but the burgers, unfortunately, are not. I had an onion burger with fried onions. Unfortunately, there were only 2-3 slices, which had little flavor. The burger was a bit burnt. Drinks include wine, beer, soft drinks, and cocktails. Including a drink and a meal, the visit costs €20-30 per person.

The food and atmosphere were absolutely top-notch! I was there with my girlfriend. We chose a quieter corner, but strangely enough, we were moved because someone told us that no one would serve us at that spot. It wasn't bad, but it was strange.

The food was okay, the service was very good, and the waitress was very nice. But it really wasn't busy (there weren't even 10 tables occupied in total), and we waited an hour for two burgers and two sandwiches. And the prices are decent... It could really be better.

Delicious food in a nice atmosphere

Sold as a "classic/plainstyle burger with a side salad," we got meatball buns with a tiny dollop of sauce, and the "side salad" consisted of a small lettuce leaf, a slice of tomato, and a slice of cucumber. So, basically what you'd expect as the meager minimum on a classic burger, but it was just a bun with meat and a hint of sauce. This is a terrible scam. You can get better-topped burgers at Burger King for €2, lol. The fries were mediocre ("edible," but nothing more). The restrooms were also ungodly dirty, almost unusable.

We received a friendly welcome and were given a free choice of seating. The restaurant looked like something out of a picture-perfect American-style restaurant. We were served quickly, and my vegan Wild West burger was excellent and very close to beef. Highly recommended and we'd gladly go back :)

Food was good, atmosphere was good, music didn't match the atmosphere...the negative was...eating on broken plates...we had to fish out a wasp for iced tea...so much for the management of the place...the employees pass it on but the boss doesn't do anything...thus 2 stars

I was at this restaurant last night. I absolutely loved it. Everything looks very American-style. My first visit here left a very good impression. The food was good. The service was excellent and friendly. The girls are passionate about their work. I'd love to come back.

Very very tasty, were there for the first time, would love to go back

We were there to watch the Champions League and I'm shocked. I've experienced bad service in Berlin before, but today's was truly amazing. 24 minutes from entering until my order was taken. Three tables in our waitress's area. Beer was empty and no one was there. At times, three waitresses were chatting at the cash register, one was on her phone, and service was nonexistent. At times, no one in our area had a drink. Nobody was interested either! The furniture is falling apart, the glass wasn't properly clean! 2 of the 3 urinals were broken!

The good rating for service is, of course, EXTREMELY dependent on the person and the time of day. We were VERY LUCKY. A young, tall, bearded man with a bun was not only quick, attentive, and polite, but also extremely thoughtful and attractive. We were there on a Saturday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and it was EXTREMELY empty compared to before. Unfortunately!!!! 😭 I wish the place a LOT of satisfied customers. The ambiance is uniquely beautiful. The music selection doesn't spoil the conversation. It's a shame the jukebox isn't as functional as it used to be. It was always great fun. The food selection is plentiful, as are the portion sizes. Always recommend ordering the sour cream as an EXTRA. There's a lot of American and Mexican food here, with GIANT SHAKES and homemade lemonade. The outdoor area by the church, within earshot of the fountain, is more than idyllic in the summer. Yes, this and that area absolutely need to be updated or renovated! The toilets are rotting away and the toilets are completely broken. They need to be re-covered. THAT'S NOT POSSIBLE

If you prefer processed cheese (milk powder, melting salts such as sodium phosphates, colorings, flavorings, preservatives) to cheese, this is the place for you. If you don't, just have a drink.

Nice restaurant, the service was great, but unfortunately the food wasn't my thing. The burger tasted just "okay" and was quite small. The fries were quite greasy. The Coke I ordered also tasted quite watery...

Got cold spare ribs and the second time again. And then you say something about it and they don't really react appropriately. Really a shame because last year we had a really nice meal.

We arrived there late in the evening and got two delicious cocktails.

Burgers were OK, nothing too crazy but home made chips were delicious. Nice service, prices OK. Update. A couple of years later it seems like this place is going bit down the hill. It needs renovation. It seems that the food has gotten worse too but the prices have definitely gone up. For a family of four you have to expect to pay 110-120 eur, and that's just basics with one spare starter, main course (mainly pasta) and a drink each.

The food was good! Service was rather grumpy from the start. You can get better and bigger burgers in Berlin.

Nice people. About the ambiance: we wanted to turn on some music on a music machine, but we were ripped off coldly...my poor Euro... About the food: We ordered burgers, but we said we wanted one burger well done and the others medium rare. The only one without pink meat was a medium-rare burger. The burgers used to taste better about three years ago, as did the fries. A total letdown. For that price, I could get better at McDonald's. Our sauces were also old; the mayo was sticky and looked stale.

The atmosphere of the Route 66 Diner is good and lives up to its name, even if it could use some renovations here and there. The food (burgers) is average—there are better burger joints in Berlin. Wi-Fi is available, and there are also several TVs with sports channels. In winter, it gets quite cold, as the large room with the high ceiling is difficult to heat (although they brought us a blanket). In summer, there's plenty of space in front of the restaurant. Service was friendly. Prices are OK.

4 stars overall , 3 of them go just for the milkshakes , those things hit like crazy, literally the best milkshakes I have ever tried. Burgers and fries were okay , but nothing special. Do not order nachos even if you are held at gunpoint. Very funny vibe to the place , it is like if they collected every single stereotype about USA and put it in one place , which isn’t bad but quite the opposite Would and will go again just for the milkshakes And they have a car inside the place.

We had burgers, one came without lettuce and tomatoes, so plainer than plain... the limp fries are a real matter of taste... the Caesar salad is a huge plate with romaine lettuce, watery dressing and mild parmesan, plus one (1!) cherry tomato in slices, delicately sweetly placed around and five (5!) croutons... no anchovies... relatively... PLAIN... like the burgers... The nice service saves this correspondingly plain rating. All in all, American cuisine is not exactly famous for its diversity and so you get exactly what you would expect here in the appropriate Hollywood atmosphere.

Shitty & overpriced food, okayish service, decent atmosphere.

Relaxed atmosphere in diner style. A delicious selection of burger variations and beer in the pitcher if you like. Ok, I know the nachos and blue cheese wings differently, it was more German style, but it was ok. The burgers are big enough and tasty. After initial difficulties with the service, it was a great evening. It reminded me of my trip on Route 66. It will be on the agenda again for our next visit to Berlin.

This was one for my daughter so I didn't hold out much hope but I loved it. Was the best burger I've ever had. The atmosphere was great and all of the pictures and music was exactly what I wanted to see and hear. So happy she picked it.
