Restaurant in a central location directly at the Römer.

We waited 20 minutes in a half empty restaurant. I went inside and asked if we can be served. The bartender said they were busy and we need to continue to wait, if we have time, in a very rude tone. Terrible customer service. We went to the place next and got served immediately.

Very very positive! Excellent food, pleasant service despite the crowds at the table, reasonable prices I don't understand the reviews that talk about tourist traps, we paid exactly what it says on the card, no overcharging

We sat only to drink the traditional Frankfurt drink. The waiter was really friendly and funny, he spoke in other languages which was kind since he was doing an extra effort. He did some recommendations about how to mix the drink and we just enjoyed. The price for the jar + a big bottle of sparkling water was 16€, we found it pretty expensive since only the water was 7€ and you kind of need it for diluting the alcoholic drink. Overall it is a nice terrace where to sat and enjoy the traditional Frankfurt square. At the moment of payment the woman in any moment asked for tips and when I gave her some she was really grateful.

Great staff. - turned out that it was cash only and the staff were really helpful and despite not being able to take card payments were able to help me, take a card payment for 22 euros. Great staff.

Tried once and will not return nor recommended to anyone. Cold service, overpriced, they won’t tell you no card payment and a surcharge until last minute, or the info might be hidden somewhere I couldn’t find. If you are a tourist, don’t bother waste your money, go somewhere else.

Food is OK, service is unfriendly and inconsistent. Frankfurter onion soup was a broth with bits of bread soaked in it and a tiny amount of onion fragments. No baked cheese over it. Per person spend high because of 7-euro bottles of water.

When we entered the restaurant and wanted to order drinks, the waiter rudely said that only people who ordered food were allowed to sit here, but he would let us order beer or something. So he asked us loudly while he was clearing up a nearby table, "What do you want!" without offering a drink menu. 2.The table wasn't cleared, was really dirty and I didn't get a menu, so we ordered basic like cola. We were very dissatisfied with the conditions and the cleanliness. When I tried to cancel the order after 30 seconds, I was told that cancellation was not possible. He said the drinks were already on display. But that wasn't true at all. 3. The waiter then yelled at me that he wasn't the owner and therefore couldn't cancel the order. He insulted me ironically. This restaurant treats its customers rudely and tries to rip them off. Avoid this place. Don't fall for this!

They did not let us have a beer and just some snacks.They just asked us if we wanted dinner, and when we said no, they told us to leave. At the same time, there were groups of German people that they were only drinking beers. Strange how unfriendly to foreigners Germany is at the moment...

Worst food I ever had in Frankfurt. Green sauce directly from Rewe, and as clean as the main railway station.

This place is an absolute scam and tourist trap. Only told when I had to pay that only cash accepted. Directed to ATM in basement to get cash - exorbitant fee and terrible exchange rate. On top of that machine does not offer a receipt. Rude staff, lousy service and left with a bad feeling about this restaurant and my time in Frankfurt. Avoid at all costs - plenty of better places to dine.

The pork knuckle and the side dishes were lukewarm (probably just warmed up from the day before) and not a nice rind, so I don't recommend this meal there

We stopped by for a beer during the European Championship. He was a regular, professional waiter who brought the beer quickly. We saw that they were eating big bowls around us. It should also be added that it is very strange that there is an ATM in one of the turns on the staircase leading to the toilet... When we were there and had a beer, everything was fine. The space is very cozy and an extra thing. The souvenir shop next to it is one of the best.

A rustic, old-style inn. The staff is very nice across the board and absolutely helpful. We were there for lunch at twelve o'clock sharp, which was a stressful lunchtime, and on a football day at that. Our food took a while to arrive, but only because it was definitely freshly prepared for us. It was really tasty. Down-to-earth, no frills, but with lots of taste. We felt comfortable and left the restaurant full and satisfied after about an hour, knowing that we would come back here again. Praise from us to the entire team. Everyone here is doing a good job.

Idk why all the bad reviews. The food was ok for the price. You get a good amount of food on the plate. We did not expect a 5 star menu, and we got just what we ordered. The waiter was friendly, beer was great, the WiFi was fast and the food came out quick too (i guess that they have it pre-prepared) The "schweinshaxe" (pork knuckles) could be a bitt more tender. We payed by card. The waiter said that they only accept payments by card for entire orders (they dont do split pays) or orders over 50€ (not sure why is that the case, guess it has to do with the bank fees). The five of us did kot have a reservation, but i would recomend you get one coz there was a wait after some time. The cuttlary can be updated, some of the forks were bending. All in all, we were treated well, and enjoyed our stay.

Beware of the tourist trap! Super unfriendly, the waitress walked past us several times without serving us and when we asked, the boss came and looked at us from the side. There are nicer places in Frankfurt.

The food is a complete disaster. Matjes underground, just like the fried potatoes that were fried in old rancid fat. The “Frankfurter Teller” cannot be beaten in terms of taste neutrality, cruel.

To flee, there were 3 of us and we only had two plates. I had asked for a plate of salmon with salad, and it was put on the same plate as the charcuterie plate, not to mention that there was no GD thing on the plate knowing that it cost us €28 all the same. The third plate normally consisted of potatoes (there was only one) presented with slices of inedible sausages for €12. And the icing on the cake is that they only accept cash. They take advantage of their location which helps attract tourists. Inadmissible. To flee !

Had lunch with the family and received very friendly service. Price-performance ratio for the Römer is top. Four out of five meals were very good, only the knuckle was a bit tough. But gave an apology and a drink on the house. Were there for the second time and will definitely come back again.

Trip to Frankfurt.. Mandatory stop to taste the real local food. Quick service even though there were a lot of people. We had lunch after 3pm. The place was full but the service was quick, the staff were friendly. Fantastic location.

We tried schnitzel and beer. Both were delicious. The environment and atmosphere are very nice. The location is right on the square. The waiters were very attentive. There are a lot of local dishes and the menu is very extensive. They do not accept credit cards. They ask for cash payment.

I enjoyed the Apfelstrudel. The outer skin layer was cold, while the contents were warm. It was not too sweet. The portion was decent. The service was good. They were polite and treated me well. They only accept cash, but there is an ATM inside the restaurant (go down the stairs).

I am deeply disappointed by the impossible treatment I experienced in your restaurant. When I ordered two cups of coffee and water, I was brusquely told that this was not enough and that I would be forced to order more products. This type of coercion and rudeness is completely unacceptable and has upset me and my companion. Such behavior is simply unacceptable. I expect an immediate explanation and measures to improve your service quality. Otherwise, I will not hesitate to make my experience public and warn others against visiting your restaurant.

Delicious food. I choose Frankfurter teller with a mixed salad 🥗 orange slices and cucumber with yoghurt dressing. CASH ONLY. The restaurant has a ATM down on the stairs that lead to the bathroom.

This is a restaurant with terrace seating in front of Römerplatz. I wanted to eat something typical of Frankfurt for lunch, so I ordered the recommended egg Grüne sauce and apple wine. There was as much apple wine as a beer mug, and I couldn't drink it all. Please note that cards cannot be used.

Since it started to rain heavily, we had a drink here. Right on the Römer with a beautiful view. Clearly designed for tourists. Payment can only be made with cash. Service was funny and had a relaxed manner. You have to like it... but it didn't bother us. The food didn't look bad.

Typical German tavern located in Romberg Square, the historic center of Frankfurt. We ordered a kind of combo with knuckle, sausages, tenderloin, sauerkraut and potatoes. The dish is for two people, we ordered two and there were four of us and we did not leave hungry. Everything was very good and the waiters were very friendly. Good price

We were in Frankfurt for the first time and in this restaurant, I believe that the way you shout into the forest resonates ;-) We were served by two very friendly employees, we could also have paid by card, but only from 40€. Unfortunately I had a very, very bad experience there. The 7th of us came there late in the evening, but not everyone of us really wanted a main course, so we ordered a total of 5 main courses, 3 starters and 1 drink for each of us, which I immediately received an unfriendly comment or rather a complaint from the waiter to hear that we hadn't ordered enough and he had made the effort to give us the table or move the chairs together! I'm sorry, what?! What a disgrace!!! Since I'm one of the 7 who understands and speaks German and doesn't want to ruin the evening for the rest of my family, I didn't discuss anything with this waiter. He served all the dishes but with such an unfriendly expression on his face, so no! I will never visit the restaurant again and I advise everyone not to. But if you really want to ruin your visit to the restaurant even though you still want to spend the money, then this is the right place for you.

i was in frankfurt for a few days to visit my brother. well, i went there 2 time, let me say 2 awful times. First time food was not proper german, the chef was not german too and the service very low quality and rude . the second time i hadn’t no chance to find another restaurant was new year’s eve. well , in that occasion they gave the worse they can, completely rude and one waiter even threatened my friend at the table because my friend wanted a big bottle of water and he took the small one, but the horrendous experience doesn’t finish here, food awful looked as took from fridge and heated up in the microwave. In the end of this meal, at the payment time the owner or manager i don’t know tried to let pay as the bill 2 times, after that i mentioned to he police and he changed said me no in germany the tips are forced ! NO TRUTH, LIAR, IT’S FALSE THE TIPS IS NOT FORCED, UP TO YOU IF YOU WANNA LEAVE. honestly, awful experience 2 times and if i consider they tried to scam too it’s even worse. please go away from there, the good traditional german restaurant is about 2 step forward from them, don’t go to them or they will scam, my bill was 55,40€ and he tried to let me pay double 110,80€. unbelievable i don’t think they will run forward for long

Illegally applied tips on card payments, tips is not mandatory but they will apply it anyway. Food was ok but the treatment was rude and I really don't like who they apply the tips charge. The bill was like 81.40 and I say 3 Euro tips and he make a payment for 85.60. they will scam you stay away from there

Never left reviews in my life because I believe they are something subjective and personal experience may be different from those of others. Everything was fine until we asked for the dessert menu, when we were denied, telling us that the table was booked and that we had to leave. Since it was a fair period, therefore subject to heavy traffic, no reservations were taken (I can understand the need to have more covers, but once seated you serve me from appetizers to desserts). As if that wasn't enough, when asked to pay by credit card, we were told that the internet wasn't working and to pay in cash, when up to that point many other customers before us had paid by card. Good food and nice atmosphere but ruined by these two unpleasant episodes

Worst waiter in the world: There may be waiters and waitresses who have had a bad day and then smile less but are still polite. Then there is the waiter in this restaurant. Disrespectful and you don't feel comfortable but rather rushed. Food is also designed to serve many people quickly and not to taste good.

All of the people posting and saying that this place is full of scammers, are the frauds themselves. And the people commenting The people were pulling money out of their personal wallets or purses have never traveled around the world before, this is a common thing for wait staff. It is not their personal wallet or purse it's the one that they use when people pay their bill. Maybe you should get out of your house and your country more often and you would know how things are around the world. As for the food, I have zero complaints at all. Is it a five-star restaurant, no it's not, but at the same time the food was excellent. And the white staff were nothing but accommodating, polite and the people saying about not knowing about not paying with credit cards, will look around their signs all over. This was my first time here, but I will be back!

The worst meal in a long time! The original Wiener Schnitzel was disappointing and by no means freshly prepared, but warmed up and only briefly fried. The meat was gray and tasted that way. The mashed potatoes were not the homemade mashed potatoes I asked for, but a tasteless ready-made product from a bag! That's not possible for a restaurant with these prices! In any case, our table next door hadn't finished its goose leg and the side dishes... Unfortunately, my husband's fillet steak wasn't enjoyable either, but we were hungry. Due to its central location, this location is probably only visited by tourists anyway - hands off if you want something good to eat!

I would agree with the term “tourist trap”. Four of us were there at lunchtime and wanted to have lunch there. Since one of us couldn't find anything he would like to eat, he asked for a portion of fried potatoes. For my part, I wanted soup and apple strudel. The rest ordered main courses. At first we were annoyed and slightly aggressively told that the boss wouldn't tolerate it if you only ordered soup, dessert and potatoes, as we would then be bad for business. (Besides, it's stupid for him to carry soup up to the first floor). But he said he would make an exception. So at first I felt bad about even eating anything there. When the food came, the potatoes were very greasy (had a strange aftertaste) and the spaetzle from the main course was inedible. The soup was OK. When we were finished I asked about my dessert, he said there was no dessert because he was out of it. So not only was I not full from the soup, but in the 30 minutes we were there no one was able to tell us that the order couldn't be fulfilled. In the end (but it was also my fault because I didn't notice it straight away) the waiter gave me back 10 euros too little (the bill was 75 euros, he only gave 15 euros back for 100 euros) Do yourself a favor and stay away from the store. I should have read the reviews first...

Cozy window seat with a view of the Christmas market on Römerberg. The Römer-Bembel is a rustic restaurant and the home-style cuisine is really tasty (e.g. beef goulash). The staff is very friendly and attentive (my wife was given more green sauce without asking). And finally, the plentiful food is really inexpensive - and that in the central Römerberg. I can recommend the Römer Bembel!

Great German food & good service

Great and tasty food. The goose leg and breast tasted wonderful and soft. The German grill plate also tasted wonderful too. They are willing to accommodate us by adding a small fee to allow us to order 1 person portion as it is usually minimum for 2. Happy with their service and they are nice people. They do check on us whether we are good with the food recommended. No problem with cash payment as it is clearly indicated on the entrance door.

Sitio muy normal de comida alemana. Pedimos el codillo y unas salchichas que sinceramente no eran típicas alemanas. El codillo si que estaba rico. Es un sitio que esta en la plaza del ayuntamiento pero que no es nada del otro mundo.

Was auf den ersten Blick wie eine Touristenfalle wirkt, hat sich als wirklich gute Küche gezeigt. Sehr gutes Schnitzel zu anständigem Preis an einem historischen Ort. BRAVO!

First of all, I’ve never seen such a rude service. The staff forces me to join other person’s table, tips are obligated no matter how they served. The point is there is only cash. If we eat at the outside the table, large beverage is only to select. Tables are inclined to cut my pork, so be careful.

Sehr freundlicher Service, leckeres Bierchen und einen tollen Blick auf den Römer. Gegessen haben wir diesmal nichts.

An einem Samstagabend nach 21 Uhr dort gewesen und aufgrund einer anschließenden Stadtführung nur 30 Minuten Zeit mitgebracht. Die Bedienung wirkte sehr familiär und freundlich, Jägerschnitzel und Apfelwein entsprachen genau unseren Vorstellungen. Die Preise sind mehr als angemessen, wir kommen gerne wieder!

Gute Qualität zu einem (für die Top-Lage) fairen Preis. Kartoffelpuffer mit grüner Sosse (war sogar im Oktober sehr lecker!!). Gemischter Salat mit Handkäs und Äpfeln. Gutes Graubrot. Der Service sehr freundlich trotz vielen Gästen.

Nous avons atterit au hasard dans ce restaurant après avoir été totalement ignorés dans celui d'à côté, ce fut une bonne surprise avec un serveur très sympathique qui nous a fait de bonnes recommendations tout en étant très honnête. La nourriture était bonne et l'ambiance sympathique.

Sehr gut gelegen mit schönem Blick wenn man in er ersten Reihe sitzt. Die Preise sind in Ordnung. Leider sind draußen die Stühle und Tische schief. Und auch die Sonnenschirme die einen vollständigen Blick auf den Römer dadurch verhindern. Es könnte mal gekehrt werden unter den Tisch draußen. 2 Kartoffeln hätten mehr sein können auf dem Teller. Satt ist man leider nicht geworden. Komischerweise waren auch hier und da Reste von etwas Sauerkraut auf dem Teller. Toilette waren ordentlich im Keller

Man sitzt draußen an einem belebten Platz. Wenn man das mag, Ideal! Das Essen war Solide aber nicht herausragend. Negativ fand ich, dass „nur“ Getränke verzehren nicht gern gesehen bzw. Geduldet wird. Ich verstehe das man Gäste, die auch essen, den anderen vorzieht. Jedoch würde ich das niemals aussprechen bzw. Durchführen…

Man kann hier günstig und gut essen, über das Frankfurter Schnitzel sind wir etwas zwiegespalten, es dürfte kein TK-Schnitzel gewesen sein, aber es kam uns vor wie aus der Friteuse. Dafür gab’s ohne Aufpreis Bratkartoffeln :-)

Wir hatten hier ein tolles Abendessen mit Haupt-und Nachspeise. Der Service war super und das Essen sehr lecker. Die Portionen sehr groß und preislich genau richtig. Auch die Nachspeise war köstlich. Wir haben -sehr typisch für Frankfurt- ein Gericht mit grüner Soße und ein Jägerschnitzel bestellt, als Nachtisch einen warmen Apfelstrudel mit Vanilleeis. Insgesamt haben wir 46,50 Euro bezahlt (mit Trinkgeld 50), es war “momentan” nur Barzahlung möglich. Wir würden wiederkommen und das Restaurant weiterempfehlen.

We order 2 steak both had very strange smell. Food was absolute not good but waiter was very friendly.

They only take cash. This is not obvious, also very odd being in a main area with high traffic and tourism. The ATM, after taking all the information for withdrawing cash, said it has none. Very sketchy.

Der Römer-Bembel ist eine urige Gaststätte mit einem besonderen Flair. Direkt am Römerberg. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Faire Preise. Die Portionen machen auf jeden Fall satt. Ein Besuch bereut man nicht. Ich hatte ein Frankfurter Teller mit Püree und Kraut.

Comí muy bien; a pesar de venir con un poco de miedo por la reseñas, el lugar me encantó. Tienen una terraza muy agradable en la plaza Römer, los camareros fueron súper amables y la comida estuvo buenísima, comí un estofado de carne que me dejó con ganas de repetir. Está bien de precio. Sólo efectivo.

Locale nel pieno centro di Francoforte. Sono entrato per bere una birra e mi è stato servito un boccale da un Litro di ottima birra. Mentre bevelo la birra ho visto sfilare diversi piatti con pietanze locali e mi sono fatto ingolosire dai wurstel che ho ordinato e mi sono arrivati abbastanza velocemente. Da provare per chi è in quelle zone....
