According to the manager, and information relayed by the waiter, the rent is €50,000, which is why, when the weather is nice and warm, you have to eat in the garden. Two drinks, goulash soup and ice cream with warm raspberries, weren't enough according to the waiter. We had them anyway, but fearing the consequences from the manager. Thanks for the nice threats! Threats are certainly free, which is why we wouldn't spend another cent there. Never again!

Good solid place with good food for the price point. Our wait staff was very pleasant and offered us suggestions due to our lack of experience with Herman dishes.

If I could I would give the store 0 stars. If it's below 10 degrees, you can only drink outside Waiting briefly at the counter when someone goes to the toilet is not allowed. Because the drinks are served there. There is no operation and hardly any guests, so 0 understandable. The gentleman at the counter was really disrespectful and rude. Not recommended

I don't understand the bad reviews at all. The service staff was super friendly and really accommodating! We had the goulash soup as a starter, the Jägerschnitzel and Nuremberger with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut as the main course. It was delicious and the service made it taste even better. The only drawback was the spaetzle but the rest was perfect! Above all, the bread that was served with the soup was fresh and excellent!! We'll be back!

In the most turistic area.....no credit card, only cash!

Rarely have I eaten such a carelessly prepared schnitzel, the fried potatoes were dripping with fat. Half the order was initially forgotten. Cash only, but luckily there is a Euronet machine on site where you can get really ripped off.

If you don't eat pork, I think it's the only German restaurant in the area for breakfast. Goulash (beef soup), schnitsel, kartofel pufer (like potato meatballs), and veal sausage.. the gayrt was good👍 we just didn't like the one with potatoes and mustard, which was the side dish of the veal sausage.. generally good👍

Very uncommercial. You have to finish a cappuccino quickly in case other customers arrive. But the customers don't rush. The European reception is definitely not up to par....

Potato pancakes were offered as a vegetarian meal, which unfortunately turned out to be thawed convenience products and are therefore not recommended. In general the portions were relatively small. We were served by the head of the house. He wasn't really friendly, put us under time pressure and didn't let us sit inside even though the tables were still unoccupied when we left. There is also an obligation to only order large drinks outside, even though we were forced to sit outside. I would visit a different restaurant next time. In general I had the feeling that the innkeeper just wanted to make the maximum profit from his business.

Terrible experience at this restaurant. The staff was rude, hasty and unhelpful from the start. They took our order incorrectly and instead charged us more for dishes we didn't even order. Additionally, the food was mediocre and absolutely not worth the price. We will never come here again and I strongly advise anyone not to visit this restaurant if they expect even a modicum of respect and fairness.

Unfortunately, the schnitzel with potatoes and green sauce for 17.50 EUR was very cold and tasteless. I visit this restaurant regularly every three months. The beer is just great, 10/10! But the schnitzel has become more expensive since the new year, the portion is very small and cold. I have been here ten times or more, but I won't come back until the food gets better. Not recommended, the place has gone downhill a lot.

So the service was ok, of course it could be more friendly. The ambience was very nice. Toilets were very clean and the seating areas were very comfortable. Now about the food, I couldn't give it a single star. In my life I have never eaten a steak that was cold in the middle. The fried potatoes were fried in old oil and also not cooked through in the middle. As sorry as I am, I can't recommend it more. Regardless of whether you are a tourist or not, you can get something for your money elsewhere.

Very noisy environment. They were almost closing at 5pm on the evening of 12/31 so they gave us little choice and perhaps the waiters were a little distracted. You only pay cash, the quality of the beer is decent

Terrible experience! I've been to this place and unfortunately I can only tell you about a truly unpleasant episode. When I was served my plate, I found a hair in it. I immediately mentioned this to the staff and was asked if I wanted them to change it, but by then I had lost my appetite in disgust. The real problem came at the time of payment: the dish, which I didn't consume, was still charged entirely to my bill. I find it absolutely unacceptable that, despite the inconvenience caused by them, they did not have the decency to remove that dish from the total. A place that treats customers like this shows little attention and even less respect. I will not return and I do not recommend it to anyone.

Authentic Frankfurt ambience, very tasty food and excellent service. A compliment to the staff!

Unpleasant visit to the restaurant. 1. We had specially reserved a table on the 2nd floor, which was not allocated to us even though it was promised to us when we reserved it by telephone. 2. Old cards were handed out where the dishes were no longer correct and were no longer on offer. 3. There was butter on the starter plate that was over 1 week expired. When we talked about it, the service said it wasn't that bad. Actually a no-go and unprofessional in the catering industry. So be careful when choosing food.

Chanced upon this gem of a place while strolling around Römerberg in the afternoon. Tried the Frankfurt Grill Plate and Schnitzel Hunter Style with German noodles. They were delicious we had no regrets at all. The staff were also very friendly and made us feel at home. The waiter taking our order suggested for us to try their homebrewed beer and of course, it was a great recommendation. I will definitely return again if I’m in the area in future! Great food for a great price with great people. Just a note that they only accept cash, but there is a cash withdrawal machine located at the basement.

I also don't understand the negative reviews. Yes, you can pay with cards. Waiters very attentive and speak multiple languages. Food was served instantly and was quite delicious. Now, it's not 5 stars, but that's ok. Hearty, down-home German cooking. And you can hardly beat the Weihenstephaner beer!

Very atmospheric place and service!!!

Excellent service on a cold evening in Frankfurt. The waitress even checked to make sure the radiator was hot. We both had the rump steak with roast potatoes both were delicious.

To avoid, the waiter specifies at the start of the meal that you must hurry and eat in 1 hour max. If there are people lining up after you, they will favor the largest number of people to make more numbers. In short, go to the restaurant next door, they are much friendlier

This is one of the restaurants on Römerplatz. If you want to enjoy German cuisine and Apfel wine, this is the place to go. Of course, there is a wide variety of beer, wine, and soft drinks available. Since the portions of the dishes are large, it is best to keep the meat platter small and share it with everyone. This time, the meat platter was enough for 4 people, but even with 6 people sharing it, there was more than enough. Maybe it would have been better if I had one plate for two people and ordered another plate of another dish. Also, there seems to be a room on the second floor where you can eat. We relaxed and enjoyed dinner until the restaurant was about to close.

I have never seen such a bad service like this! the waiter was very rude and unfriendly. Too bad for such a good atmosphere. It was a weekday and the whole tables were almost empty. The place seems really nice and my friend wanted to eat something like a Schnitzel and we sat there. I was not hungry I just wanted to drink a beer. and we both order beers and she asked for a meal. and I was not hungry but just to order something (and I am vegan and not hungry) I ordered potatoes. because there are also nothing for me to eat and I was also not hungry. I just wanted to enjoy the view by drinking my beer. and my friend was having her meal. and when we ordered the waiter said to me really? you are in a restaurant and you order a bratkartoffel? and the rolling eyes... and I explained him that I am not hungry my friend will eat a proper (!) and I will drink beer and hew was very rude. and than he came back and asked if we want a non-alcoholic beer (with a strange attitude it was obvious that he had some stereotype that because we both have dark hair). Hey? If you dont like your job just dont work there! You don't have any rights to treat a customer like that! I can just even order a coffee and its none of your business! Its a very touristic place with a central location and of course I will drink and enjoy my beer with the view. If it was a weekend or full with all tables I could have maybe understand this but it was almost empty! you don't want to serve? why do you keep it open? Having read some of the reviews after visiting this place, I am inclined to believe that the servers performed according to their moods on the day. I went with family to Frankfurt town square late in the afternoon, decided to sit and eat. It had tables outside. The original server was courteous. Hadn't taken our order, his shift ended and our table was passed over to a lady server from new shift. The food arrived and we were happy cos the food was hot, and being the first meal, I would say the food is ok or not bad ( cos not until I had better food later in the journey, then i realised the food was ok only). Still, the issue was not about the food, but the services, so aside from our original server, there was an older and a younger guy serving too. The problem is after we ate, then we asked for the bill. The younger guy said wait for the server, 10 mins went by, we stopped the girl and she said wait for the server in a very dismissive way. Another 10 mins went by. Then I went in and ask the older guy for the bill, and he also said wait for the server, but his tone was very rude. we waited another 10 mins and I went to ask the old guy who is the server, he just ignored me, then the female server came in to get something, so I asked her is she the server cos I like to pay and leave, she said she is not and just wave hand to the younger guy outside. Then I had to stand at the door and shout at the young guy to come over, so I have all 3 by the bar and ask who is the server, as we have been waiting over 30 mins to pay and they just keep pointing at each other. Finally the young guy produce the bill on his phone. I was so mad that I decided to count out the exact amount, so we didn't have to wait another 30 mins for change. All the time I was counting the money, the young server keep saying to me, "tips are not included,tips are not included". I said funny how you suddenly pays a lot of attention. So anyway, I left the exact amount and no tips. I think this place, the food is ok, the service is much depend on their moods. If you are a tourist, there are probably signs everywhere, but you just won't know what they are saying. I will remember this place, as a place we will not be frequenting again. And I do believe, they may prefer if you leave an over amount on the table cos you fed up waiting, then they get their tips. Rustic restaurant right on the Römer. You can sit outside and watch what's going on around the square with delicious food and drinks. Service quite quick. Really good value for money for the location. Extensive selection. Everyone will find something here. Decent portions. We'd love to come back.

The rudest service I have ever experienced! If you don't like your job as a waiter, you should look for a new job! Agree with Eric and Excelsiorcouching, we discussed sharing a meal with the first Waiter then the Second Waiter insisted we order two main meals with drinks. We chose to leave and spend our cash in another Cafe. Would not recommend Cafe.

Racism for foreign waiter. Amazingly, we were invited to leave the place because we have intention to order beers, applewein, coffee and cakes. They invented a rule about every costumer have to order food when nobody around us were doing so. BTW, the price is overrated. Better go to other place. Avoid it.

TOTAL TOURIST TRAP // They do not take debit / credit cards and only tell you when it’s time to pay up. They offer you their ATM with a ridiculous fee or you can still use your card for an exorbitant surcharge. Watched a few other tourists get scammed. I thankfully had some cash on me to avoid getting scammed. Shame on you for giving Frankfurt a bad name.

Restaurant in a central location directly at the Römer.

We waited 20 minutes in a half empty restaurant. I went inside and asked if we can be served. The bartender said they were busy and we need to continue to wait, if we have time, in a very rude tone. Terrible customer service. We went to the place next and got served immediately.

We sat only to drink the traditional Frankfurt drink. The waiter was really friendly and funny, he spoke in other languages which was kind since he was doing an extra effort. He did some recommendations about how to mix the drink and we just enjoyed. The price for the jar + a big bottle of sparkling water was 16€, we found it pretty expensive since only the water was 7€ and you kind of need it for diluting the alcoholic drink. Overall it is a nice terrace where to sat and enjoy the traditional Frankfurt square. At the moment of payment the woman in any moment asked for tips and when I gave her some she was really grateful.

When we entered the restaurant and wanted to order drinks, the waiter rudely said that only people who ordered food were allowed to sit here, but he would let us order beer or something. So he asked us loudly while he was clearing up a nearby table, "What do you want!" without offering a drink menu. 2.The table wasn't cleared, was really dirty and I didn't get a menu, so we ordered basic like cola. We were very dissatisfied with the conditions and the cleanliness. When I tried to cancel the order after 30 seconds, I was told that cancellation was not possible. He said the drinks were already on display. But that wasn't true at all. 3. The waiter then yelled at me that he wasn't the owner and therefore couldn't cancel the order. He insulted me ironically. This restaurant treats its customers rudely and tries to rip them off. Avoid this place. Don't fall for this!

They did not let us have a beer and just some snacks.They just asked us if we wanted dinner, and when we said no, they told us to leave. At the same time, there were groups of German people that they were only drinking beers. Strange how unfriendly to foreigners Germany is at the moment...

This place is an absolute scam and tourist trap. Only told when I had to pay that only cash accepted. Directed to ATM in basement to get cash - exorbitant fee and terrible exchange rate. On top of that machine does not offer a receipt. Rude staff, lousy service and left with a bad feeling about this restaurant and my time in Frankfurt. Avoid at all costs - plenty of better places to dine.

We stopped by for a beer during the European Championship. He was a regular, professional waiter who brought the beer quickly. We saw that they were eating big bowls around us. It should also be added that it is very strange that there is an ATM in one of the turns on the staircase leading to the toilet... When we were there and had a beer, everything was fine. The space is very cozy and an extra thing. The souvenir shop next to it is one of the best.

A rustic, old-style inn. The staff is very nice across the board and absolutely helpful. We were there for lunch at twelve o'clock sharp, which was a stressful lunchtime, and on a football day at that. Our food took a while to arrive, but only because it was definitely freshly prepared for us. It was really tasty. Down-to-earth, no frills, but with lots of taste. We felt comfortable and left the restaurant full and satisfied after about an hour, knowing that we would come back here again. Praise from us to the entire team. Everyone here is doing a good job.

The waiter was friendly, beer was great, the WiFi was fast and the food came out quick too (i guess that they have it pre-prepared) The "schweinshaxe" (pork knuckles) could be a bitt more tender. We payed by card. The waiter said that they only accept payments by card for entire orders (they dont do split pays) or orders over 50€ (not sure why is that the case, guess it has to do with the bank fees). The five of us did kot have a reservation, but i would recomend you get one coz there was a wait after some time. The cuttlary can be updated, some of the forks were bending. All in all, we were treated well, and enjoyed our stay.

To flee, there were 3 of us and we only had two plates. I had asked for a plate of salmon with salad, and it was put on the same plate as the charcuterie plate, not to mention that there was no GD thing on the plate knowing that it cost us €28 all the same. The third plate normally consisted of potatoes (there was only one) presented with slices of inedible sausages for €12. And the icing on the cake is that they only accept cash. They take advantage of their location which helps attract tourists. Inadmissible. To flee !

After a short wait we were seated on the second floor. We ordered the pork knuckle dinner and the cheese with onions/vinegar. Me and my friends went to this restaurant. We initially ordered pork schnitzel, but immediately changed the order to beef before the Clark left our table. We ate it turned it out, but I had to pay a 30€ penalty for changing the order. When we refused it, because we weren't convinced, they threatened us with the police. It's a restaurant with a great location and atmosphere, so I think many people will go, but as the reviews say, it is a common rip-off restaurant, so tourists in particular should be careful. Had lunch with the family and received very friendly service. Price-performance ratio for the Römer is top. Four out of five meals were very good, only the knuckle was a bit tough. But gave an apology and a drink on the house. Were there for the second time and will definitely come back again.

Trip to Frankfurt.. Mandatory stop to taste the real local food. Quick service even though there were a lot of people. We had lunch after 3pm. The place was full but the service was quick, the staff were friendly. Fantastic location.

We tried schnitzel and beer. Both were delicious. The environment and atmosphere are very nice. The location is right on the square. The waiters were very attentive. There are a lot of local dishes and the menu is very extensive. They do not accept credit cards. They ask for cash payment.

I am deeply disappointed by the impossible treatment I experienced in your restaurant. When I ordered two cups of coffee and water, I was brusquely told that this was not enough and that I would be forced to order more products. This type of coercion and rudeness is completely unacceptable and has upset me and my companion. Such behavior is simply unacceptable. I expect an immediate explanation and measures to improve your service quality. Otherwise, I will not hesitate to make my experience public and warn others against visiting your restaurant.
