It's really beautiful place!!! If you try to dive into German history and traditional culture, it's a place to be!!!

They only wanted to have a drink and were therefore asked to leave again.

I visited the city with a friend and decided to eat lunch here. The food was delicious and the atmosphere on another level. Definitely recommend!

I was here today with a friend. The sausage platter with fried potatoes and the schnitzel with fries were delicious. The side salad could be improved. The service was friendly, and they accommodated our special requests. I'd gladly come again.

My parents have been coming here since the early 1970s, it’s become a standard part of their regular trips to Frankfurt to visit friends. I have also continued the tradition. Sadly this time we were treated very rudely by the staff, so will not return until the management has changed. It’s a real shame. It apparently looks exactly the same as it did 50 years ago, it’s a very quirky place packed with history. But all of that means nothing when the staff treat you like a piece of dirt on their shoe. As others have said it seems like they are now trading entirely on their location, assured that they will always have an influx of new tourists no matter how poorly they treat people.

A great place in the very center of the city. Several types of beer, traditional German food, a very interesting interior. Reasonable prices.

Zero point zero stars...unfortunately a disappointment...beef roulades were disgusting (filling still contained pieces of bone or was it a piece of broken Z.........)...boiled beef (lukewarm, tough and dry) with green sauce to vomit.......n

Absolutely amazing and beautiful restaurant located in the historical city center with great service and delicious food. The portions are big and the prices are reasonable. Highly recommended to visit and try local specialities.

The curry sauce was absolutely disgusting and there was a slice of canned pineapple on my chicken. The salad for €4.50 was simply too little and the knuckle was very dry.

So a 4 on the service because you have two old German men running it but it's worth a little wait for sure.

Very disappointed. For the first time I tried the knuckle, the national dish of the Germans. Very dry, overcooked, not well presented. And at the very end we were kicked out of the establishment at 9 pm, because all the visitors had left, when we pointed out that the establishment is open until 11 pm they brought us foil so that we could pick up our dishes that did not arrive. I have never seen such disrespect for customers anywhere

The last piece of our redfish was still raw. Instead of apologizing, the waiter became truly rude and blamed us. Absolutely outrageous!

Very traditional German bar restaurant on Frankfurt's Römer. Atmospheric and cosy.

A nice historic restaurant with traditional German cuisine. We had only positive experiences. The atmosphere would be even better if there was some music playing. For recommendation👍.

I was so looking forward to the beef roulade. It was awful, like something from a bad cafeteria. Tourist, count your change! They don't take cards.

Careful when you eat at this place. Food is so so. But the old indian guy server will not accept credit cards and ask for cash. He will not give you your change. When you ask it back he will say “ I thought this was my tip.” Dont go here waste of money!

I'd love to give it 0 stars. I haven't experienced such unfriendly staff in a long time. I'll be staying well away from this place in the future!

The restaurant inside is very suggestive but the quality of the food is poor

The one star is only because you have to give one star, otherwise there would be zero stars. The staff behind the counter was extremely rude. We merely pointed out an inconvenience and ended up being insulted. He also said that he hadn't invited us "to come here" and that we could have stayed home. It's simply speechless. Certainly not a second time.

The service was a bit odd but actually friendly. They left in the middle of our drink order and then didn't bring the food they called after. The food was delicious, both the green sauce and the schnitzel. Unfortunately, there was a hair in the food. The atmosphere is nice, but the tableware (salt, pepper, beer mats) is very dirty.

We ordered two drinks and a meal. The service was rude, and everyone who just wanted to order drinks was thrown away in a rude manner. Unfortunately, we found out too late. This place should be avoided.

A very nice and rustic guesthouse in the heart of Frankfurt with German cuisine, you can also sit outside, the staff is quick and friendly

The restaurant has a very nice aesthetic. The food was also decent with a reasonable price for a touristy spot in Römerberg (We ordered a schnitzel with potatoes/ fries) However, we did not have a good dining experience at all. The waiter was rude and did not have a good service language. We understand that there were quite a few customers but our table was not demanding at all. We dined and we left and we agreed with other comments why it would be popular for tourists but nobody would come here for a second time. If anybody sees this review, you can find other restaurants nearby with better experience, price, and especially service.

We're absolutely thrilled. This is a restaurant and museum in one. And the food tastes delicious. A must-see in Frankfurt.

The ambience inside is very nice and rustic, and the boiled beef with green sauce and apple wine was also delicious.

Mi hija de 14 años y yo visitamos recientemente el casco antiguo de Frankfurt y llamamos aquí, ya que parecía tradicional y vale la pena una visita. Pedimos dos porciones de papas fritas y dos bebidas. Cuando fuimos a pagar, los dos hombres que trabajaban allí comenzaron a discutir, no podían entender lo que decían y no aceptaron el pago con tarjeta ya que no habíamos gastado lo suficiente. Me dijeron que fuera al cajero automático al otro lado de la plaza, pero mi hija tuvo que quedarse en el establecimiento. Cuando mi hija le preguntó si podía mirar hacia fuera para ver si yo estaba de regreso, uno de los dos empleados masculinos dijo que podía y el otro dijo que no podía. ¡Sentía como si la tuvieran como rehén! Cuando regresé y pagué no dijeron gracias - o disculparse por las molestias. No es una experiencia agradable en absoluto y mi consejo es que no se moleste en malgastar su dinero en este lugar.

ABSOLUTE TOURIST RIP-OFF. The sauerbraten was not outstanding but ok. The Glöse were the most disappointing thing I have ever eaten. Also really mini. (Ready-made dough, unseasoned and watery) The dressing came from a can. The waiters prefer to sit at the table and play games on their cell phones instead of coming once to an empty restaurant. I'm a small, normally built woman and I'm still eating something because I'm still hungry.

Gran comida, se sintió muy bienvenido y se sintió cómodo para quedarse un tiempo! Teníamos el Roladen (carne de res envuelta alrededor de pepinillo, goulash húngaro (TAN BUENO! ) patatas condicionales cerveza alemana oscura y por supuesto, strudel de manzana! ¡Toda la comida fue perfecta! No puedo recomendar lo suficiente!

Bonita decoración, servicio rápido y amable. Se posicionan como un efectivo - único lugar pero acordaron aceptar un crédito - pago con tarjeta para un pedido superior a 40 € . La comida era comestible, pero no se podía decir mucho más al respecto, el tafelspitz fue una gran decepción.

Sehr lecker Gerichte insbesondere rund um die „grüne Sosse“ , freundlich , schnell , sehr gute Biere und richtig schön kalt . Keine Kartenzahlung möglich.

Kellner ungepflegt und unflexibel; WC Anlage eng und nicht gereinigt - es stank fürchterlich! Bestellten in der Runde Wiener Schnitzel mit Pommes, Fisch mit Kartoffeln, Leberknödelsuppe! Wir mussten das Essen zurückschicken weil es komplett ungenießbar war - Fleisch roch grauslich! Apfel Wein konnte nicht getrunken werden! Absolut nicht zu empfehlen!

Nice to have lunch in the centre, but menu for tourists

Tourist trap – disappointing value for money We had lunch at Haus Wertheim on March 22, 2025 and ordered sauerbraten with dumplings twice. At first glance, the ambience makes a traditional and inviting impression - but unfortunately that turned out to be deceptive. The restaurant is a tourist trap, the likes of which I've never experienced and one that you wouldn't expect. The portions are tiny, the quality questionable: the dumplings were barely bigger than golf balls, the sauce was tasteless, and the meat was okay in terms of consistency, but very manageable in quantity. There were no side dishes like red cabbage, which you would expect with a dish like this. For €17.40 we got a lukewarm, disappointing meal that tasted strongly of processed food. Given the prices and the quality, you really feel ripped off. I can only strongly advise against a visit – and without any bitterness. The performance is disproportionate to the price, and you should avoid such a bad experience. I find it somewhat shocking that something like this is allowed to exist on the Römer. My first experience of this kind in Germany.

On Römerberg Square is Haus Wertheim, the only original house from the 1600s in the historic center. It's a three-story building, quite charming with its half-timbered facade. Currently, the ground floor houses a restaurant and is one of the must-see places in Frankfurt. We went there for a beer to appreciate the atmosphere inside. We really liked it.

A lovely, rustic restaurant with a great atmosphere. The food was delicious; the Sauerbraten melted in your mouth. The two servers were very friendly and attentive. As with many restaurants along the Römer, they insist on cash payments.

We actually just wanted to have a nice beer in the old town. The lady at the service was extremely unfriendly and seemed to us as if we had done something to her... Basically a beautiful historical building, but the atmosphere was so uncomfortable (very quiet, no music, we hardly dared to speak) that we were happy to leave the restaurant. NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Ich kann hier schlechte Bewertungen überhaupt nicht nachvollziehen, oder wir. Das Essen war super super lecker, die Bedienung total freundlich und das Lokal an sich eine Augenweide. und so ging es nicht nur uns sondern auch den Menschen an den Nachbartischen. Nix touristisch und die Toiletten waren auch total normal. Manche Menschen, die hier schlechte Bewertungen abgeben, müsste man verstehen 😡

If you are looking for an atmospheric place, historical, with good beer, then this is it) but don’t go here for the service and haute cuisine)) very strange attitude towards guests, the food is nothing special, but it was tasty. I truly have never reached such an orgasmic level of enjoyment for food. Eating the chicken curry was an out of body experience, followed by hallucinations and contacted by a spirit from the house itself. Reasonably priced so I had money left over to blow at the red light District after. 10 out of 10 experience.

The place is very suggestive, it is practically the history of beer. Poorly managed place, unprofessional waitress, we ate the shank with potatoes, forgettable of very low quality. The classic pork cutlet with tasteless French fries, good beer. It's really a shame because the restaurant is a gem for its authentic decor, in a tourist location 200 meters from Frankfurt Cathedral. I recommend it for a beer afterwards because it's a place from the 1400s. I was really disappointed.

Not recommended for the food and the staff. The staff makes sure you order, eat and even leave. The food isn't that great. Only the place is nice.

You open the door of the specific beer bar-tavern and you are automatically at 1400!!! You'd think the patrons would be dressed as knights and talking like that... dozens of artifacts from past eras and centuries hanging everywhere, literally... creating the illusion of traveling back in time. The service was perfect, the lady who welcomed us and served us was kind and smiling, she also wished us a good appetite... in our language and as we know, Greek is not the easiest language!! We drank a Merlot and of course beer and ate schnitzel, everything was excellent... only the french fries did not excite me, because they were not handmade... the bathroom, although small, very clean. If you want to eat somewhere special I highly recommend it because it is also economical, but have cash with you because the business does not accept credit cards...

Quaint pub. Unfortunately very unfriendly staff. After we were made to understand that we were not wanted because we only eat small things, we left. We were charged for two additional drinks. The reason why we couldn't eat anymore: Only meat on the menu. By the way, they were the second worst fried potatoes of my life. However, we weren't even asked if it tasted good.

Two days ago I drank three Äppelwoi on the way to show my Bavarian companion a historic building as a Frankfurter. The next day we wanted to take another detour to enjoy an Äppelwoi. Was immediately turned away at 2 p.m. and the restaurant was completely empty. Nothing today, just drinking, just eating in broken, absolutely unfriendly speech. No go. No longer recommended compared to before. Above Römerberg there are much more friendly restaurants that apparently still like to earn something.

We were not allowed to stay to drink only, although the place was not even full (mid afternoon). Only accept cash which is ridiculous in 2024. Tax authorities should investigate these places. Looks like traditional German place, but it doesn't seem like German owned. Tourist trap, avoid it, there are a lot of better options nearby.

This restaurant is cash only…and the owner acted like you are not allowed here if you don’t have cash on you. I mean I have 20 on me so I wanna see the menu to find out if it’s enough for a meal. He literally rolled his eyeballs and pointed the door like I’m forced to leave or sth. With his gesture and his attitude, I’m never entering this freaking restaurant again. The worst in Frankfurt!!!

Über Jahrzehnte immer am Lokal vorbeigelaufen, immer gedacht ein Touristenlokal. Mein Eindruck hat nicht getäuscht. Würde bereits am Eingang darauf hingewiesen, nur Barzahlung. Hatte Rouladen bestellt. Interessant die Rouladen kamen nur mit Kartoffeln, kein Rotkraut oder Sonstiges. Leider war die Soße kalt. Die Roulade selber ging. Die Toiletten sind eher eine Zumutung, dringender Renovierungsbedarf.

It is a very cozy and simply delicious little place, a mandatory stop in this historic place. Quite affordable and fair price. Order the goulash in any presentation

Perhaps the most fun restaurant I have ever visited!

House of the s. XVII. She survived the Frankfurt attacks almost unscathed. Ground floor with sandstone arcades, two upper half-timbered floors and a slate attic.

I wanted to have lunch there today and looked around the restaurant where only one table was occupied. Then a waitress came up to me and said that everything was occupied, even though there were no reservations on the tables. Clearly they didn't want to serve a single person! Maybe it's my luck, because I had an excellent meal a few doors down and was served courteously.

Service and decoration were good but unfortunately the food was a complete disappointment!

Final take---not my favorite by a long shot.

Locale caratteristico, location fantastica con possibilità di sedersi all'aperto nei pressi della piazza centrale di Francoforte. Menu con piatti e birre della tradizione locale, lo schnitzel molto buono! Aspetti negativi: i tavoli erano molto sporchi, e la nostra richiesta di pulirli è stata del tutto ignorata...abbiamo fatto da soli con dei fazzoletti che avevamo nello zaino. Servizio pessimo: il signore che serve ai tavoli taciturno e scontroso. Infine la sorpresa finale: pagamento solo cash..!

Very quaint restaurant with good food

The waiter brought the menu quickly. The food came after a good time. The goulash soup is very thin and there is enough bread. The schnitzels are not crispy, the sauerbraten is okay - the dumplings (2) are too small, the side salad is a bad joke. Iceberg (brown cut edges and too much stalk) carelessly dressed, dressing doesn't taste good. The toilets are so dirty that they disgust you. The waiter was only there to bring and pick up at the table. I wouldn't go there anymore.

A cute little cafe with an ice cream parlor. Unfortunately it is quite overpriced due to the location and for €2 we would have hoped for a much larger and better tasting scoop of ice cream. In addition, when we asked, we were unable to provide any information about which ingredients or allergens are contained in the products, which makes it difficult for allergy sufferers to know what they can eat. Unfortunately, unlike the rest of my group, I couldn't eat ice cream, which I found very unfortunate. In addition, the waitress at the ice cream counter wasn't particularly helpful in providing information and had little idea about the products she sold us. Overall, we would definitely choose a different location next time.

Worst service in Germany, how can you be so inconsiderate and unfriendly when you want to order

We were waiting for our friends and therefore just wanted to have a drink. Apart from the fact that the waitress couldn't speak German well, we were denied the second drink after the first drink. They said we were only allowed to order food and were then sent away after a few minutes. Thank you for helping me spend my money only on good things. (We were 9 adults in total and didn't just order small things like water.) Generally very unfriendly and not recommended.

The Tafelspitz was warmed up and you could forget about the platter of ribs and sausages for €42 (2 people). The service was very friendly. But you don't rely on regular guests here. Too bad.

Der Tafelspitz war aufgewärmt und die Platte mit Rippchen, Nürnberger, Frankfurter, Sauerkraut und Kartoffeln war auch nichts. Wenn man renommierte Apfelweinlokale in Sachsenhausen kennt ist hier das Essen nur für Touristen. Die Bedienung war aber sehr freundlich !

One of The most beautiful restaurant/bar i've ever seen.

We had lunch there today. The waiter was a complete disaster. Firstly, he was completely alone and seemingly overwhelmed. The table we were sitting at was only cleaned at my husband's request. My husband ordered a knuckle and I a veal steak with grilled vegetables and fried potatoes. Over half an hour later we were served the wrong food. Then the discussion began. We both got veal steak with creamed mushrooms and fries. The waiter cheekily claimed that we had ordered it that way. Put the plates down and left.😡 Another guest swapped his meal with my husband's. Either the waiter wrote down our dishes incorrectly or the cook in the kitchen can't read the menu. What's sad is that the waiter has obviously never seen the inside of the menu. In any case, we will never eat there again. My husband's first beer was warm 😠 and came out of the bottle unchilled. He wouldn't have gotten a cent tip from me.😤 They should make the store better. NOT RECOMMENDED!!! P. S. The menu on the website no longer matches the current menu on site!!!🧐

Atmospheric pub, home-made food, but with global flavors. The pork shank is perfectly baked, the meat falls off the bone on its own. Pride!!! Delicately Apfelwine flavor. I recommend

It is very rare to find pork shank prepared so well. Chicken breast in curry sauce is delicious. Same as apfelwein and beer. And the information about the lack of card payments is very visible.

It's a tourist center, so it has a nice atmosphere. It feels like German food for tourists, and it's a little different from German food. The service is not recommended for those who are not used to traveling abroad. I think it's better to have a cafe feel and drink without eating.
