The best Italian food you can get outside of Italy. It's a family business, and everyone lends a hand. For example, the owner's sons and his brother. They're all warm, friendly people, and the service is top-notch. The food is of the highest quality and tastes exceptional. The ambiance is upscale, classic, and Italian. And the view—well, it's the Milky Way alone—is beautiful. The restaurant's location reflects this. My conclusion: if you love good Italian food, you should definitely visit Ristorante Portonovo.

Great food at affordable prices.

The food was so-so, nothing special, and way too expensive! Mini corn-fed chicken breast for €35, service very pushy, one of the waitresses was absolutely unacceptable! Never again!

A beautiful, very classic, and authentic Italian restaurant in Hamburg's Pöseldorf district. For our starter, we shared the Calamaretti Limone. Perfect and beautifully presented. A wonderful "wow" factor. Perfect! For our main course, we had the sole fillets with sun-dried tomato foam and the turbot with spinach and saffron. Both fish were perfectly cooked, with matching vegetables and a delicious sauce. Delicious! 10 points! We also had a Gavi from Villa Sparina. Perfect. I just found the price per espresso (€3.90) too high, even for a rather upscale restaurant—especially an Italian one. A wonderful and delicious evening here. We'd love to come back 😋🫶

Very pleasant when the boss talks to the guests

It is a very nice experience to enjoy the late lunch. The service and food quality is excellent. They serve me well and care my achohol allergy. I order chocolate drinks , dessert and main dish. All is very delicious! This restaurant is very close to Hamburg music and theatre. Good! I recommended allbring the selfie stand to take more photos. Nice environment! There provide indoor and outdoor dinning!

Wir wollten zum Geburtstag meiner Partnerin mal eine Location wählen, die wir und die Family noch nicht kennen. Kurz …… es war der Hammer !!! Service, Speisen und Weine waren so gut, das die gesamte Family nur noch bei Hamburg besuchen hier Speisen möchte. The food, the ambiance, the service, and the location – excellent! Bus line 15 is a quick way for tourists to get to the suburbs, far away from the fast-food restaurants in the tourist areas of the city center. It was the first culinary highlight in Hamburg after three days! It's possible!

We had reserved a table online via the official website, a full hour before our desired time. However, when we arrived, we were told there were no seats available. Not only were we turned away, but another group with a reservation was also turned away. If a restaurant offers an online reservation system, you should be able to rely on them releasing seats even though there are apparently none available. This is not only unprofessional, but also disrespectful to guests who make the extra effort to get there. Either the system urgently needs to be revised, or the staff should learn to handle the situation in a friendly and solution-oriented manner. Unfortunately, in our case, there was no sign of that. For us, this was our first and last "visit."

Very well-executed Italian fare. Charming staff, elegant venue. Enjoyed my meal very much indeed.

My wife and I ate here for the first time. The prices were quite high. My wife had asparagus risotto with salmon, I had the loup de mer. My wife was very satisfied. Unfortunately, I was less satisfied; the fish and side dishes were swimming in oil. And I was dissatisfied with the taste. The price-performance ratio was not justified.

Nos alojamos en un hotel cercano y el conserje recomendó este establecimiento. El servicio fue atento y amable, la comida de entrantes, plato principal al postre era de gran calidad y sabroso. La factura para dos personas sin propina y alcohol era de 200€. Muy recomendable si en Hamburgo.

Very nice restaurant in a cool environment! With the unusual visiting hours early on Sunday afternoon, we felt a bit alone and the service was still sometimes busy with other things. The small, fine menu has something to offer and all at a good price/performance ratio. Next time we'll come in the evening...

Great ambience with slightly dimmed lighting, small areas separated by room dividers. You are greeted by extremely friendly staff right at the entrance, and this continues throughout the entire evening. Very accommodating and attentive, knowledgeable in food and wine. The food itself tasted excellent, well-balanced portions and great compositions. We'll definitely be back.

Service best. They served faster since we told them that we still have 5 hour drive to Copenhagen after lunch. Simply said “one of the best Italian restaurants for us”

I haven't eaten this well in a long time, but I'll try again. Very nice welcome and got a nice seat. There were four of us and we chose different starters, from carpaccio to pumpkin soup with shrimp and mixed mushrooms. Everything was delicious and I forgot to take photos. We all chose the grilled sole and the food was very, very good. Great side dishes, very good wine enjoyed with it and the dessert was also very tasty. We had tiramisu and panna cotta with pickled pears. It was a perfect evening and the service was super nice. We'll definitely be back!

Have walked past it many times. And now I've been to PORTONOVO for the first time. Wonderful atmosphere, top service. Food excellent and really highly recommended. Thanks to the boss and his great team. We'd love to come back!

Erinnerte uns sehr an bessere Münchner Italiener. Gute, klassische italienische Küche zu gehobenen Preisen. Wie erwarteten war dss Essen von guter Qualität und der Service ausgezeichnet. Wobei die dunkelhaarige Kellnerin etwas verschüchtert rüberkam. Das Publikum wohlhabend-spießig, wie üblich in solchen Restaurants.

I had an superb lunch with my daughter. We both love Italian food and whenever have a chance, we try Italian places around the world. Just found a one that’s top! Portonovo is a great genuine Italian, not just in terms of food (which is delicious) but also friendly and welcoming staff. Plus a gorgeous view on lake Alstar. Highly recommended.

I spent a wonderful evening here yesterday. From the welcome at the door, through three excellent courses, to the farewell, it was an all-round successful evening. Definitely a recommendation.

Super Service. Michele weiß alles über italienische Weine und findet eine treffsichere Auswahl. Es macht Freude ihm zuzuhören. Das Essen ist ebenfalls großartig. Wir sind gespannt auf die neuen Räumlichkeiten ab Ende Oktober und kommen wieder.

Hatten zu viert einen sehr schönen und stimmigen Abend. Der Service war aufmerksam und Michele traf mit seiner Wein Empfehlung perfekt unseren Geschmack. Wir hatten (unter anderem vgl Fotos) Tartar mit Wachtelei, Iberico Kotelett vom Grill, Safranrisotto mit Jacobsmuscheln, Seeteufelfilet und zum Schluss Pannacotta. Das Essen war wirklich vorzüglich! Nebst der standard Menükarte gibt es auch eine umfangreiche Tageskarte, so dass für alle, die die gehobenen italienische Küche lieben, etwas dabei ist.

We were in Hamburg for a short visit. The very friendly wine merchant from "Sigrid Clausen" at Mittelweg 167 recommended the Protonovo just around the corner. We were not disappointed. The atmosphere was very nice, the service very friendly and competent and the food excellent. We'll definitely be back.

Im Rahmen einer geschlossenen Veranstaltung besucht. Das Essen war hervorragend, das Rinderfilet eines der besten bisher gegessen. Meine Frage nach bestimmten Allergenen im Essen wurde freundlich und umfassend beantwortet. Der Service ist aufmerksam und auf Zack. Die Location ist, mit ihrem Blick auf die Alster, ein Traum, auch das Ambiente in den Innenräumen ist sehr ansprechend. Das gilt sogar für die sehr sauberen Toiletten. Insgesamt ein außergewöhnlicher Abend und eine unvergessliche Feier.

Wir haben hier mit 12 Freunden Sylvester gefeiert. Alles war sehr gut organisiert und perfekt vorbereitet. Das Essen, die Getränke, die freundliche aufmerksame Bedienung, der fantastische DJ von Radio Hamburg. Die wundervolle Aussicht auf das Feuerwerk um 12 Uhr. Alles einfach super! Vorzügliches essen, freundliches Personal, aber nicht ganz billig

Angenehme Atmosphäre, freundliche Bedienung, weiße Tischdecken, und das Essen sehr lecker. An einem trüben Januarsonntag wenigstens köstlich gegessen und dabei die graue Aussicht genossen.

Die vermutlich höherwertigen Lebensmittel kann jeder durchschnittliche Koch genauso verkochen. Die Karte ist vielversprechend, die Hauptgerichte und Desserts halten aber nicht das, was die Beschreibungen versprechen. Schade, nur Durchschnitt und dafür viel zu teuer. Im Sommer sitzt man sicherlich wunderbar an der Alster. Drinnen im Winter abends hat man nichts davon. Keine Empfehlung.

Wir waren zu zweit da, als kleines Weihnachtsessen. Wir waren rundum begeistert! Die Atmosphäre ist sehr angenehm, mit schöner Beleuchtung und angenehmer Musik im Hintergrund. Das Essen war ausgezeichnet - wir hatten Zander und Thunfisch mit Kartoffeln. Alleine die Kartoffeln waren schon ein Traum, der Fisch auch. Der Roséwein war sehr lecker, auch das Tiramiu als Nachspeise. Die Kellner waren sehr freundlich. Wir hätten uns kein besseres Restaurant für den Abend aussuchen können.

Das Essen war köstlich und die Bedienung war sehr humorvoll.
