Mediocre food, slow service, and staff that only cares about tips

We ordered apple strudel. We weren't told that the bit of cream on the plate cost €2 extra, so we were charged €4 too much. I received a small orange juice for the price of the large orange juice and was charged €1 without being able to explain why. When I asked the waiter about it, he got a little nervous. In total, I was unjustifiably overcharged by €9. I think it's an impudence to cheat guests in this way. Especially with the 1€ on the receipt I thought it was a mistake on the part of the cashier. The Ristorante Barolo - Is a nice restaurant located in the middle of Düsseldorf on the Kö. This is easy to reach on foot, but also by car because there are two parking garages in the building. Access is barrier-free. The staff is absolutely nice and friendly and always open to having fun. The dishes are nicely prepared and very tasty and taste very good.

This must also have been reflected in our steak, because instead of medium we were served a tough rare. The salad, which was supposed to contain turkey strips, contained pieces of chicken fillet, which could have been warned about when ordering. Then they brought us the wrong coffee, but that's beside the point. The overall impression was marred by a “hygienic” moment - a woman sits at the entrance to the toilet and has to put 50 cents on a plate to enter. It turns out that an order worth 150 euros and a tip are not enough to get a free visit to the restaurant toilet. Speaking of food: the fried potatoes with truffle sauce are simply divine.

I encountered a gentleman who not only tried to push various items on me, forcing me to make more expensive choices, but also charged me for a salad I didn’t order. I had ordered the salad that came with the dish I chose, without dressing, but he understood this as bringing me an additional salad. Even though I told him, at the time he brought it, that I didn’t want it, he still charged me for it. He was also aggressive when, at the end, I pointed out that I hadn’t ordered it. Not to mention, he didn’t even bring me the bill or show me the amount I had to pay. Check your receipt before you pay! We were charged €20 for service and this was not mentioned anywhere! and later it turned out that 2 x € 9.50 wine had been charged that was not ours, which I went to get back on principle, even though I had to walk 40 minutes to get there. We had a great meal, but because of this I will never go back to this place. I really feel ripped off while I always tip, but this is not transparent.

I recently went to Barolo and absolutely loved it. The steak was perfectly cooked - nice and crispy on the outside, wonderfully tender on the inside and cooked to perfection. You can immediately taste the quality of the ingredients and the passion of the kitchen. The ambience was also very inviting, with a cozy atmosphere and attentive service that left nothing to be desired. I can only warmly recommend this restaurant and look forward to my next visit!

Selten ein Restaurant mit so vielen Kellnern gesehen. Leider waren diese mehr mit sich selber beschäftigt, als die Gäste zu bedienen. Getränke standen gefühlt ewig auf der Theke bevor sie serviert wurden. Dafür wurden uns nach Bestellung noch einmal die Speisekarten gebracht. Auf die Rechnung mussten wir auch lange warten und bekamen sie erst nach wiederholtem Bitten. Das Essen wurde recht zügig serviert. Qualität war eher schlecht, der Preis aber recht hoch.

We went there spontaneously to eat and were able to get a seat outside straight away. When I ordered an espresso martini, I was told rather bluntly that it came from downstairs and would therefore take at least 30 minutes - whatever that means downstairs. Well, then we ordered something else including food and got both drinks and food very quickly. The pasta with truffles and beef fillet was really a dream, but then the worst thing happened: we ended up waiting almost 45 minutes to pay - while other guests were able to pay before us, even though they asked to pay after us. It's a shame, unfortunately it really spoiled our visit.

You can get it at dm for €1.69. When asked, waiters react incompetently and repeat "we always do it like that" three times, showing the wrong ones to other waiters, who in turn roll their eyes. To make matters worse, while dining on the terrace, there were numerous bees swarming around, which led to one landing in my untouched soft drink despite my best efforts to cover it with a napkin. When I politely asked the staff if they could remove the drink from the bill, I was met with a rude and condescending response from the server, who blamed the situation on nature. The staff member, who was quite dismissive and did not let me explain the situation fully, insisted on charging me for the drink that I couldn’t even enjoy due to the circumstances. As a fellow restaurant owner, I understand that sometimes things go wrong, but this level of unprofessionalism is completely unacceptable. At my restaurant, we always ensure our guests are satisfied, especially when the problem is beyond their control. This experience was not worth the price, as both the food quality and the service were severely lacking. I would not recommend this restaurant, especially given the arrogant behavior of the staff. It’s essential that management takes this review seriously and re-evaluates their approach to customer service.

I've been there many times. It's always delicious and the service is great. Today, however, I felt ripped off. We sat outside the cellar very nicely. My two pasta dishes were no longer on the menu so I asked for them and the waiter immediately said no problem, how do you want them? So I ordered pasta with chicken broccoli in cream sauce and it was delicious as always. My companion had pasta with crab meat 26€. I simply paid €35 ​​for this dish, there's no gold on it. I used to pay around €20 for this dish. I feel really ripped off😕

We recently went to this restaurant and had a very unpleasant experience. We ordered two beers, each 0.3 liters for 7.50 euros. When we wanted to pay, it turned out that the bartender had added a 2 euro tip to the bill without our consent. When we asked him about it, he was very rude and said that all guests had to pay tips. He then asked us not to say anything to anyone and gave us the 2 euros back. The problem here is not money, but trust. Something like this shouldn't happen in any restaurant. To make matters worse, the table next to us had the same problem and was even overcharged by 5 euros. We have informed the manager about this, but whether anything will change remains questionable. Overall a very disappointing experience. We will not visit this restaurant again and cannot recommend it.

Delicious tiramisu cake but be careful, it's really tough. Price is a bit expensive for one piece 6 euros..... Otherwise everything was tip top. Nice service and nice cozy decor. You can go if you don't have to look at the prices.

Cocacola is served in a glass without ice as well. The chocolate cake was large but seemed quite synthetic. A family member and I came here to dine in for lunch a couple days ago, all I can say is that I think there are better options out there in Düsseldorf. Food was not bad, however customer service needs major improvement. We didn’t have to wait long for our food to arrive nor to be seated, however once we finished our meals our waiter seemed to have disappeared for a good 30-45 minutes afterwards. Therefore, no one ever took away our empty plates, offered us dessert, or asked if we were ready to pay. When we were ready to leave the establishment and pay the bill, our waiter still seemed to have disappeared and we had to wait for him to magically show up again. We only ordered two pastas, a cocktail, and a glass of water and somehow the bill turned out to be 57 euros. In conclusion, overpriced and don’t feel that I got what I paid for here.

17 euros for a water and a coke

The restaurant makes a visually appealing impression in the shopping center, the seating is very narrow and you sometimes bump into each other at the table next to you. The pizza we ordered (€17) was neither visually nor taste-appropriate for the price, the toppings tasted bland and like they came from a can. At other restaurants you would have gotten this “quality” for around €10.

The Barolo restaurant in the heart of Düsseldorf. I can only recommend the Kö Galerie. Because of the good reviews, I even called and reserved a table (it wasn't necessary at all). I was traveling with my son and we wanted to spend some quiet time and talk. We got a place at the entrance, the waiters constantly walked back and forth past us and there were also customers who only took coffee and cake "to go". Rest is something different for me. I ordered a fish platter for myself and noodles for my son. Hmm... unfortunately it was a disappointment. The fish was swimming in oil and was over fried (too dry) and lettuce leaves were not fresh and I wasn't sure if they had been washed. The noodles were from standard packaging (i.e. machine produced for 2.00 euros from the supermarket). I also showed this to a waiter. And of course, they didn't have enough staff that day, the chefs canceled, etc. But I still had to pay 30 euros for the bad fish and 18 euros for pasta with some cheese. I received a package of Italian pastries as compensation for the fish dish, so 3 stars for the service, everything else wasn't worth a star. I wouldn't recommend the restaurant.

Wir waren am Samstag im Barolo.Leider hat es uns überhaupt nicht gefallen.Der Kellner hat sich zwar große Mühe gegeben aber das war’s dann auch schon.Die Getränke und das absolut schlechte Essen war total überteuert.Wir sechs waren uns einig das wir noch nie so schlechte Antipasti Platten bestellt haben.Die Pizza wirkte wie eine aufgepeppte TK Pizza und die Nudeln waren total geschmacklos.Schade Nachtrag:Ja natürlich.Die Preise waren vorher ersichtlich.Diese wären auch kein Problem gewesen wenn das Essen gut gewesen wäre!

Also die Location hat extrem nachgelassen! Das Personal reinste Katastrophe…Ich fragte nach zusätzlichem Knoblauch und wurde regelrecht angefaucht…. Ob es nicht genug sei… das Essen absolut ungewürzt und er Lachs nicht durch …. Die Speisekarte wurde so extrem überarbeitet…. Schade denn die alte Karte war Mega…. Zu dem Kellner mit der Brille… wenn du Husten muss bitte nicht über die Tische wo das Essen steht und mal die Hand davor… ekelhaft verhalten wie ein Bauer!!!!

Pasta pomodoro containing red peppers, pasta salmon and zucchini of which the zucchini was almost raw, much too large pieces of both the zucchini and the salmon, in this case this pasta also contained green peppers and was extremely greasy, a whole layer oil at the bottom of the plate. We didn't eat everything, but chili peppers in pasta are certainly never used in these pastas in Italy. Too bad about the food, luckily the cheerful waiter made up for a lot, we are often in Düsseldorf but will skip Barolo from now on.
