Extremely poor and unfriendly service! First, you have to wait forever outside to get a menu, and when you ask why it's taking so long, the response is: "You have legs, too." That was our first and last time here!

Third restaurant, after insisting on being seated... at the far end of the counter, even though the restaurant was only 40% full??? The food and drinks were decent, but nothing special. I was surprised by the bill, which was difficult to see and get a printed copy of after I'd already paid because a €4 line item (Trikgeld) appeared. I regretted handing over the bill...

Because the food was truly perfect and the setting truly typical and pleasant, I have to give it a 5 star! Homemade and wonderful Spätzle. Allgäuer Schnitzel tender and tasty. I'm just bitter about the human qualities of the waitress, a little sour and not accommodating about the table choice.

Food was very good but unfortunately a bit cold.

We went to eat at the Lochmühle again. I had reserved a table for three people. The waitress was very unfriendly and tried to get rid of us immediately after we'd finished eating. We ordered something else, and she came back after 10 minutes, as she needed the table in 20 minutes. I found that very unfriendly...the food was, as always, delicious and the portions generous.

We ate there on a Thursday around 5:30 p.m. We got a seat without a reservation. Very friendly service, a great atmosphere, and the food was very, very delicious...

The ambiance outside was very nice. Service slipped a bit towards the end. I thought the food was okay. The children's portion of spaetzle was huge, but unfortunately, like the bratwurst, it wasn't to my taste. The potato salad was very tasty, and the fries were very good. The schnitzel was good.

Very good food, would eat there again immediately

It's a shame. I used to really enjoy coming here every month, and the food was always excellent value for money. I always had the mill wheel plate because it had a bit of everything and was very filling. Unfortunately, the pieces of meat get smaller with each visit, and the cheese spaetzle get fewer with each visit. I can understand that the prices go up every now and then, or that you put a little less on your plate, but for almost 30 euros these days, it's almost a bit outrageous. The waitresses have unfortunately become rather listless and don't seem to really want you to order more. I'll stop by again soon to give the place one last chance, because the atmosphere is really nice and I've always felt very comfortable there, but I'm not expecting much from it... what a shame, a real shame...

The ambiance is rustic. The food has potential for improvement. Fried potatoes were partially burnt, boiled beef was tough and stringy.

As people with smaller appetites who hate wasting food we really appreciated the offer of smaller portions.

I love this place. They have real, delicious swabian food. I imagine if my grandma was German, this would be close to her cooking 😀 it is always crowded and the price is just right. The setting is so typical south German it does feel authentic sitting here. Highly recommended

We chose this place based on the positive reviews, but we were disappointed. The waiters were very friendly, the place was beautiful, but the food was truly subpar. I had a platter of cured meats and cheeses (neither exceptional nor praiseworthy) and a watery salad (I left it there), while my husband had a platter of sausages, lentils (very salty), and small gnocchi. For dessert, they had "grandma's" fritters with ice cream that arrived completely melted. Disappointing!

This was our favorite dining experience in all of Bavaria, during a recent 5 day road trip. They have a great menu, lots of variety, and some surprises as well. They put great care into preparing the meals, and the atmosphere is very fun and welcoming, especially for families and large groups.

Excellent pancake soup Spaetzle overcooked, vegetables almost raw. Rösti was burnt on the outside and more like potato pancakes. It was more like mushrooms with some potato pancakes and ready-made slices of cheese...👎‼️ Service was rather indifferent: "That's just how it is with us." We won't be here again‼️

Unfriendly, slow, and forgetful staff. First, we had vegetarian rösti topped with mushrooms and cheese. There was no rösti at all; it was more like a potato pancake with what felt like a kilo of mushrooms on top, and the wafer-thin rösti was also burnt. My request not to add the vegetables to the roulade was simply ignored. They even made a silly comment about the kitchen staff not having understood my order. In fact, the waitress sent the order electronically to the kitchen. We had to wait 10 minutes for a requested spoon, and the drinks were ultimately forgotten. Unfortunately, not recommended.

We've been to the Lochmühle several times, and the food has always been delicious! Anyone looking for a place to eat in Ulm should definitely go to the Lochmühle.

Like almost everywhere in the Fishermen's Quarter, it's very expensive, overpriced for the overall quality. For example, you'd expect a side salad to be included in the price. Relatively long wait times, given the mediocre table occupancy. Not very friendly staff. The food was nicely presented, but sometimes not warm. The taste was decent, but not outstanding. Nice ambiance.

Our tour group of over 60 people was handled brilliantly. Everything went very smoothly, and the food was delicious. We would be happy to visit you again.

I can't say anything about the food; we didn't even get to our table. I was at the Lochmühle today with my sister and my 4-year-old daughter. We had a lot of fun in the beautiful park and then wanted to eat something there at the end. It was packed outside, so we wanted to sit inside. We were walking into the restaurant at a normal pace when suddenly a man, the waitress, came running around the corner and bumped into my daughter. He grabbed her head and pushed her aside, grumbling to himself, "Oh, sir!" or something similar. There was no apology; he just kept sprinting and grumbling to himself. After that, we left; it ruined our appetites. I understand that it's stressful when it's so busy, but they could have been a bit nicer.

Great atmosphere, sitting outside by the mill wheel. The food was good, but the prices were inflated. The service was mixed: the lady was excellent, friendly, and pleasant. The gentleman: terrible. He placed the gravy boat directly in front of me, but the plate of food to my right! It was passed from the left, right past my face. Is that how you're supposed to eat, or what's the point? He desperately needs training on how to serve, wishing everyone a good appetite, asking if you enjoyed your meal when clearing, etc.

The best side salad I've ever eaten. It was a dream. The main course was also very, very tasty. I had venison steak with cheese spaetzle and vegetables. Everything was cooked to perfection. The vegetables were truly delicious and the venison steak was outstanding. Highly recommended.

I found it incredibly unfortunate that I tried twice to get a voucher for the restaurant and was turned down twice with the words: the effort required to create a voucher was currently too great and I should please try again sometime. Well... I won't do that again. WHAT A PITY. It seemed very arrogant.

Great place, the servers were very friendly and cheerful. Easy access with paid parking right next door. And in a neighborhood that seems nice. The dishes are very generous, even the children's dishes; you can tell the ingredients are fresh and homemade for a large portion. For €92 for 4, including 2 children with drinks and 1 dessert.

The food was okay, the ambiance solid – but the service was clearly lacking. Most of the waiters seemed overwhelmed and often didn't know which drinks belonged to which table. The only exception was a young, blonde employee who was surprisingly poised and attentive. Without her, the experience would have been considerably worse.

The waitress (a man) was incredibly attentive. Drinks and food arrived so quickly that we barely had time to chat. He constantly checked on our well-being.

Very good restaurant, a pleasant and friendly welcome. Good generous dishes and local specialties will revive your taste buds and this brown sauce what a treat. All this in a beautiful setting near a stream, in the historic center of Ulm and quiet. There is even a children's menu or at least a children's dish option.

A wonderful place to linger and eat. Located in the old town, near the old city walls. Although it was busy, we still managed to get a nice seat in the large outdoor area. The interior was rustic and very cozy.

Getting the last available seat without a reservation was the only positive thing about the evening. The service staff were noticeably stressed, bringing the food without eye contact and without saying a word. Twice we politely asked for cutlery, but it worked on the third attempt. Unfortunately, our food was also ice cold... On a positive note, our feedback was taken into account and a small apology was even offered. Nevertheless, as a guest, you can expect to have the basics down and to be recognized and treated as such.

What a wonderful experience was to eat right by the Blau stream. Atmosphere is very peaceful and quiet with lovely old fashioned decor that fits this old part of the town. Food came in large portions, very worth the price. Good quality and delicious. Dogs are more than welcome.

The best steak, big portion. I haven't had such a good steak in a long time. Špecle and drinks are great! Staff is pleasant, the ambiance is beautiful in harmony with the surroundings.

The vegetarian rösti seemed reheated, only the topping was fresh. Overall, it was far too greasy. The salad that came with it was also topped with fresh lettuce, but everything underneath looked like it had just been served, glistening with oil, and the bowl was full of liquid. The pork loin wasn't pink, but still raw. The quality was questionable, and the accompanying spaetzle also sat in a questionably greasy substance. I told the waiter all this and asked for the bill. He accepted my feedback and didn't come back, so we had to go inside to pay. We were able to take a look at the kitchen, which didn't look appealing. The ambiance outside is nice and inviting, and the service was otherwise friendly. The interior isn't so nice. A discount would have been appropriate for our experience. Never again! I hope this review helps the restaurant improve!

The food was good. We were pleasantly surprised by the value for money, especially with the meat. The starter salad had been sitting in the salad dressing for far too long and was room temperature. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. Unfriendly reception, stressful ordering, and we hadn't even finished the starter salad before the main course was served. The red wine, however, wasn't even brought... Okay, the latter can happen, but it was simply the icing on the cake. We wonder if the service has changed recently, as it's very contradictory to many other reviews, or if the staff were simply having a bad day... The location right on the water, on the other hand, is really pretty.

The food (even if it's a bit overpriced for the portion size and especially the side dishes) and the ambiance deserve a solid 4 stars. The service, however, was terrible... It started with the initial orders, continued with the food distribution, and then just like that. When you receive nothing but rude and grim comments from a completely overwhelmed waitress. For example, something like this: when trying to order a drink: "I asked earlier if anyone wanted anything, but I don't have time at all. You'll just have to wait..." and all of this in a disgustingly grim tone (the face always fit the bill, by the way). It more or less continued like this throughout our entire stay. Decide on the number of stars you want to award for such insolence. If you don't happen to be this particular waitress, it will definitely be a pleasant stay.

We had the perfect table by the river. The food was delicious and the service excellent. The waitress was on the go the whole time, remained friendly despite being understaffed, and never lost her sense of humor. I hope the restaurant rewards this rather than taking advantage of it.

We left the highway for a meal break. The welcome was very cold (we're French but speak German), and the waitress was serving Germans who arrived after us. The meal wasn't very good, but maybe we just don't like German food. Nevertheless, the setting and the town are charming.

Even though everything was reserved, we got a table for two. It would be reserved again for another 1.5 hours. We spent the whole evening there, and the waiter made everything perfect. Truly great. Thank you.

Too bad, my rösti was swimming in grease, the "bacon" was from a prepackaged package, and so was the cheese. The salads were old and swimming in oil. The cheese spaetzle were okay. The service was mediocre at best. Criticism 🤷‍♂️, never mind. The tourist won't be coming back anyway. And he won't! There was no tip either.

Beautiful place, on the waterway in the fishing village, near the parking lot of the same name. The waiter, Italian, gave us excellent tips on their beer and dishes. You absolutely have to try those kinds of gnocchi with cheese. We ate very well and spent the right amount.

The young woman was super nice and quick with the service. We bought two beer mugs. The beer was delicious 😋

The Zur Lochmühle restaurant in Ulm completely enchanted us – a beautiful, cozy environment with a typically German atmosphere and cuisine. Unfortunately, on our first visit, we didn’t have a chance to sit down without a reservation, but we fixed it the very next day and a reservation turned out to be a necessity, which is true for most quality restaurants in Ulm. The prices are not the lowest, quite the opposite, but the food and the overall experience are really worth it. We were particularly pleased to be welcomed by our compatriot – a Balkan woman who works there. Her warm and joyful smile immediately made the evening more pleasant and brought a piece of home to the otherwise precise German environment. Thanks to her hospitality, we felt exceptional and got the table we were interested in. A beautiful place with a soul, where quality meets human warmth – we will be happy to return.

Nice restaurant and good food. When the weather is nice, the beer garden is great.

What's good here is the location. My starter and main course arrived almost simultaneously. The service isn't used to this kind of thing. My roast pork was terrible, okay, there was also a crust with an old end piece. The dumplings were okay, but the coleslaw was OK. The location by the river is really nice. Never again.
