Very nice clocky restaurant with delicious food and very good service

I finally wanted to go to the trout and offer my partner something special. Unfortunately, we got the wrong day. Our reserved table wasn't ready yet and we had to wait 5 minutes. As we sat, the table next door was also asked to leave because of the next guests. (Perhaps the reservation time slots should be revised). The table that arrived after us was served first and we actually waited 15-20 minutes for our order to be taken (after asking if we could please order). It's completely okay to wait a bit for the freshly prepared food and it was absolutely within reason. If service is so important, you should also take care of all guests. The couple next to us were probably friends or family from the house and were very well looked after. The beef fillet, the sauce and the mashed potatoes and cauliflower were excellent and I was delighted with the taste and quality. Unfortunately the salmon wasn't salted and the risotto was also very bland. Unfortunately, the rest of the salmon and risotto was returned to the plate. For my first visit, as a native of Ulm, to the Forelle, it was unfortunately disappointing and not worth the money. Maybe it was the day, because with all the reviews I can't explain it any other way.

Trilogy of scallops, scampi and pulpo for 39.90. It wasn't worth 10 euros. The sauce was mushy and lacked any finesse. Overall, an unimaginative and bott creation. Frosta tastes nicer there. The service doesn't speak German and the atmosphere is reminiscent of the 70s. If this is one of the best restaurants in Ulm, the culinary quality of the city is poor. A shame for so much money. With 4 people 270 euros were gone. Nobody was happy!

The food was certainly very tasty, the same for the wine and rose. Despite all this, we were still left with a strange aftertaste. When I asked the waiter if I could pay, he immediately came over with the PIN machine and told me the amount without handing me the receipt first. I withdrew €87.50. Because I got the idea that something wasn't quite right (that's what you feel), I asked him for the receipt, he asked for the PIN receipt? While he knew exactly what I meant, no sir, I would like the regular receipt showing what I ate. And yes... the receipt showed the amount of € 81.50, so I had paid € 6 too much, but I had already given him a tenner tip, so a tip of 16.50 for this gentleman. Oh oh oh apologized and canceled my first debit payment, the looks afterwards together with his colleague did not give me the feeling that he did this by accident. Not a good maker (in the shape of a cup of coffee or something) at all. So be careful and always ask for your receipt first, which is how it should be, and only pay after you have seen it... hence the strange aftertaste afterwards.

We wanted to eat at the trout. We were made aware that we only had 11/2 hours. The reception was friendly, the card was handed over, then there was radio silence and no one was seen anymore. We were the ONLY guests. After more than 15m we left because there was obviously no interest in us. Too bad. No service as you would imagine. The rest cannot be judged.

We ate here today after a walk through beautiful Ulm or Neu-Ulm. You can sit outside very nicely, even with a dog. The atmosphere is rustic and very beautiful, and also steeped in history. I am very disappointed with my visit to Restaurant Zur Forelle. My wife and I wanted to have a beer and a small snack there. When I told the staff that we weren't hungry and just wanted to order a beer and a snack, we were told that if we didn't order real food we wouldn't be allowed to sit there. We were only given 15 minutes to finish our beers and then asked to leave the restaurant and go to a bar instead. We were looking forward to a relaxing evening, but instead we were disappointed.

What could be nicer than sitting on a cozy terrace on a hot summer day, drinking a good wine and enjoying a snack. The Forelle terrace is unbeatable. I had ordered a fish soup, which unfortunately reminded me more of a minestrone than a bouillabaisse. There was smoked salmon as an accompaniment - I didn't understand that. I also couldn't find the "greeting from the kitchen" - a dry, hard roll with a spread - to be a culinary highlight. Conclusion: Terrace is great, the rest: room for improvement

It is worth paying a little more to taste a trout (forelle) in this emblematic place. The best place, without a doubt, is to sit on the little terrace next to the canal, with views of the Ulm tower, although for that, you have to go no later than 12:30 as it is everyone's favorite place and it usually has quite a lot. influx of German customers who eat at 1:00 p.m.

As a true Ulmer, you should have eaten here at least once in your life. Great cozy atmosphere, especially in summer on the terrace 🥰 We've done it now and it was really, really good. The food was very tasty and beautifully presented. The fish is recommended but the beef cheek Zweierlei was also great. Just something different between all the pizzerias, schnitzel and burger shops. Be sure to try dessert too. The apple fritters were also very nice 👌 But what you should know is that the prices are quite high, here you just pay for them Upscale atmosphere, special and high quality delicious food and the location. I think it's worth it. But if you want to fill your stomach cheaply, you've come to the wrong place, without dessert there would definitely have been some room in your stomach 😅

Very nicely located right on the stream. However, the terrace with 7 tables is very tightly furnished and is suitable for a maximum of 2 guests each. The staff is quick and attentive. You can also pay by card and use the WiFi.

The staff was above-average friendly and the atmosphere was generally very sweet, but if you make a reservation you are only allowed to stay for 2 hours, as the next guests will then take over the table. In addition, we were seated directly between the entrance door and the kitchen door, where there was a lot of activity, which made a relaxed atmosphere impossible due to the constant hustle and bustle of the waiters and guests. The old, small benches were extremely uncomfortable and allowed absolutely no legroom, further detracting from the stay. In addition, the food for €30 per person was not convincing. The fish and roast were good, but the boiled potatoes were oversalted and very watery. The onions on the roast were also partly mushy. Overall, the food was edible, but it certainly didn't justify the high price.

Business lunch with 6 people, we are received very friendly and seated at a beautiful table in the historic room, aperitif and ordering go smoothly, the service staff are motivated and professional, greetings from the kitchen are simple but beautifully presented, the wine selection is well thought out Starters tasteful and well prepared, main courses as well, price/performance ratio is absolutely right, high-quality digestifs on the house, we will definitely be back, thank you very much! Terrace is also very inviting but only has a few seats.

If you want to go out for a delicious meal in Ulm, you are always in good hands in the Fischerviertel. This is how we ended up in the trout for the first time a few years ago. Completely spontaneous, without reservation... You have to be lucky sometimes. The restaurant itself is really quaint and exudes a lot of charm. The low ceilings, the wood paneling... It's something, it has to be said. The small but nice terrace right by the water also invites you to relax and unwind. The selection of dishes is not huge but completely sufficient to find something to suit your personal taste. If you are looking for 6 different types of schnitzel, this is definitely not the right place. All the dishes we ordered, be it the “variations of smoked trout” or the “onion roast with red wine sauce and butter spaetzle”, everything tasted incredibly good. The service was always polite, attentive and courteous. That's the way it has to be! We will definitely come here to eat more often.

The location is really very nice. Unfortunately, the food wasn't entirely convincing. The reason for this is that you have to accept a relatively long waiting time from ordering to serving. The portion sizes of the dishes are sufficient, but unfortunately they are relatively carelessly prepared. Unfortunately, it should be added that the cheese sparrows that were ordered were not available and the potato salad consisted of whole potatoes rather than slices. The price for the dishes is at a very high level. I'm happy to accept this, but not under these circumstances. On the positive side, however, it should be mentioned that the Kässpatzen were replaced immediately and the staff is very friendly. In conclusion, it should be said that the restaurant was significantly better before the change of ownership. Unfortunately I can't give a recommendation here.

Impolite! After you have ordered drinks you are rudely asked if you would like to eat something else...if you don't immediately say yes, the boss is asked in a completely empty restaurant if you can stay to drink wine etc....were former Regular customers sent away. Never again! Lowest level.

Charmingly atmospheric restaurant, in building dating from 1626. TripAdvisor says that it's closed but it was open today, I just ate there! Pike-perch and prawn main course was excellent, large portion size too.

The ambience has remained wonderful, but unfortunately the prices have become high and the portions have become more manageable. There is also more to the taste; my fish, for example, was too spicy. We hope that this will be adjusted/improved over time and that we will continue to rely on the Ulm audience.

Mixed feelings. The atmosphere is actually absolutely quaint. The trout is delicious. The accompaniment to the trout is loveless. The cheese spaetzle was bland. What significantly detracted from our experience was the service boss, who caused absolute unrest. You can't curse in front of your guests and display your displeasure like that. This is much more professional!

We wanted to try the newly opened Forelle and reserved a table there for Sunday evening. The reception in the restaurant was unfortunately unprofessional and unpolished, and the reservation had also disappeared. The restaurant is only half covered. Despite several free tables, we were then assigned a cat spot between two couples with a distance of 30cm on the left and right because they were too lazy to set a table and preferred to all lean over each other to optimize walking. We then moved on. Bad start for the new trout.

We arrived on the 2nd day after the new crew opened. The food was fantastic! Fresh Müller trout with parsley butter!! Small but very elegant menu with regional and international ingredients. The service very hospitable. Highly recommended!

Cozy restaurant with really tasty food.

Yesterday on Valentine's Day we were back at the Forelle for the first time since it reopened. The reservation went smoothly and we were assigned a nice table for two. The new chairs are significantly more comfortable than before and the ambience is rustic and dignified; The only thing we noticed negatively was the somewhat stuffy air. The order was taken quickly and we didn't have to wait long for the three courses we ordered. The quality of the food needs to be highlighted here. Everything is prepared by hand, without any additives. The hand-scraped spaetzle are immediately recognizable as such, the meat was on point and there was no grainy broth or other convenience products anywhere. It's a shame that something like this has to be mentioned separately, but it's hard to find in Ulm or in the Fischerviertel. A poem about Swabian cuisine. Many thanks to the whole team!!!

Today my daughter and I had dinner in the “new” restaurant “zum Forelle”. The facility is very comfortable. The menu is kept concise, making it easier to choose. We chose fish dishes. Everything was prepared from fresh products, was divinely delicious and decorated -->a picture for the gods. The service was excellent, the waiters served us quickly and attentively and were not intrusive. We were very satisfied and can recommend it to everyone! ...and be sure to try the crème brûlée dessert with red wine ice cream😉!

A very nice restaurant, everything was harmonious, friendly staff and the food was very good.

Die Speisekarte bot eine beeindruckende Auswahl an frischen Fischgerichten, die alle mit saisonalen Zutaten zubereitet wurden. Wir entschieden uns für die Forelle Müllerin Art und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Der Fisch war perfekt gegart und zerging förmlich auf der Zunge. Die Beilagen und Saucen rundeten das Geschmackserlebnis perfekt ab. Das Personal war äußerst aufmerksam und zuvorkommend, und die Wartezeit auf das Essen war angemessen. Wir genossen das Essen in einem gemütlichen Ambiente und fühlten uns wie zu Hause.

Leider ist die Forelle mittlerweile geschlossen und es wird renoviert. Es soll in ca. 3 Monaten mit neuem Besitzer wieder geöffnet werden.

Very good restaurant. The fish was fresh (I usually don't order trout, as there are too many bones, but I decided to try it and it was very good - despite the many bones, but that's unavoidable). Excellent restaurant, it’s right on the spot, in front of the river, but contrary to your common sense is not a tourist trap, food is really good, service is quick and friendly and portions are generous. Typical German food well executed.

Sehr urig und gemütlich eingerichtet. Haben ausgesprochen lecker gespeist, sehr flexibel bei Extrawünschen. Im Service arbeitet Fachpersonal, das ist man gar nicht mehr gewöhnt. Freundlich, aufmerksam und unaufdringlich. Top. Absolut Empfehlenswert.

Ich komme jedes Jahr ein Wochenende nach Ulm und dann essen wir immer abends in der Forelle. Diel letzten Jahre war es immer ein 5 Sterne Dinner. Dieses Mal war ich bisserl enttäuscht. Bei den Speisen hat leider die Würze gefehlt. Habe mit Salz und Pfeffer nachhelfen müssen. Es war lecker, aber nichts besonderes. Der Service war wie gewohnt hervorragend. Unsäglich finde ich den Time Slot. Ich möchte selbst bestimmen, wie lange ich essen möchte. Aufgrund der kurzen Zeitspanne haben wir auf Vorspeise und Dessert verzichtet. Schade.

Nous avons passé un agréable moment, le repas est assez banal foie avec pommes de terres sautées, la serveuse superbe , malgré la barrière de la langue , elle nous a servi comme il faut avec sourire et sympathie .

Klein und urig, für Gemütlichkeit war es uns etwas zu eng. Die Bedienung hat uns nicht in Empfang genommen. War aber dann recht nett.

Ich kann die positiven Rezessionen nicht bestätigen! 🥲 Wir waren zu dritt, mit einer Altersrange von 50 bis 76 Jahren hier essen und waren sehr enttäuscht! Wer, wie wir, das Lokal seit und vor 50 Jahren kennt und hier sehr gerne gegessen hat, wurde sehr, sehr enttäuscht. Zugegeben: unsere Fehler waren, dass wir keine Forelle genommen haben, sondern Fleisch. Die Filets waren zäh, tot gebraten und das drum herum einfach fad und phantasielos. Ich habe schon lange nicht mehr ein so geschmackloses und liebloses Essen hin gestellt bekommen. Der Preis wäre ok gewesen, wenn der Koch wirklich gut kochen könnte. Am liebsten wäre ich in die Küche und hätte ihm erklärt, wie Geschmack ans Essen kommt und wie man mit Herz, Seele und Geschmack kocht. 🙈 Einen erfreulichen Abschluss gab es dann doch noch. Der Service reagierte souverän auf die Kritik und versprach es in dem Koch weiter zu geben und zu verbessern - wir werden es unangemeldet wieder prüfen! Es gab sogar eine kleine Wiedergutmachung. Drei Espressi waren schnell serviert. Dazu haben wir einen Kaiserschmarren bestellt und bezahlt. Der war wohl von einer Fee, denn der hatte Esprit und Herz - schmeckt einfach super! Danke! Der Service war bemüht, kann aber gerne noch etwas an den Gepflogenheiten feilen. In einer solchen Gaststätte sollte man den Wein und das Wasser eingeschenkt bekommen! Es selbst zu machen hat was von Kantine. Das gehört sich in einer guten Gastronomie so! Oder? Übrigens: eure Plastikbezüge auf den Stühlen sind schrecklich! Früher war es Stoff! Auf den Kunstlederbezügen schwitzt man einfach grauenhaft! Liebes Forellenteam! Nehmt euch die Kritik zu Herzen, denn die drei Tische um uns herum haben alle samt, auf meine Nachfrage, die Geschmacklosigkeit bestätigt und zu Salz und Pfeffer gegriffen um es genießbarer zu machen. Wir kommen wieder, weil wir uns an die gute alten Zeiten gerne erinnern, wo wir früher bis in die Morgenstunden hier gegessen und getrunken haben und schauen, ob das Essen besser wird. Wenn ja, werde ich es hier kund tun und die Rezession gerne anpassen!

Wer Fisch liebt, muss hier her. Das Forellen Tartar sollte unbedingt probiert werden, die Bärlauchsuppe ein cremiger Traum und die Forelle Müllerin war das Highlight. Die Haut schön kross gebraten und das Fleisch trotzdem saftig. Wer nicht selber "arbeiten" will was filetieren betrifft, sollten den Wels versuchen. Für ein Dessert hatten wir leider keinen Platz, doch zum espresso gab es einen kleinen süßen Gruß aus der Küche. Preis Leistung stimmt hier definitiv.

Einzigartig schöne Erfahrung. Unglaublich tolles Ambiente wird noch vom perfekten Essen getoppt. Hatten die ganze Forelle und den Zwiebelrostbraten.

Wir waren mit zwei Personen kurzfristig an einem Donnerstag zum Essen in der Forelle. Wir hatten unterschiedliche Gerichte und waren mit alle Speisen sehr zufrieden. Wir hatten nach kurzer Wartezeit zu Beginn einen schönen Tisch bekommen. Ich kann die Forelle sehr empfehlen.
