We had a delicious meal. The specialties Haxe and Kasseler rib are recommended authentic dishes. Thank you to the waiter for the Spanish lesson I requested. ❤️

Were in Monschau and went here for dinner. The food was disastrous. Carpaccio was cut so thick that you couldn't chew it. Goulash soup tasted like a beef broth with mushrooms without meat. The knuckle was cold and mashed potatoes from the bag.

If you want to enjoy snack food and atmosphere at high prices, this restaurant is the place to eat. The order was taken quickly and drinks AND food were on the table after just 10 minutes. This shows clearly that nothing was fresh. Frozen schnitzel, packet sauce and half-cooked fries... The male waitress doesn't understand German well, talks loudly with a colleague, runs back and forth and constantly slams a door. At the beginning of January, "Hardcore" Christmas music (Silent Night etc.) was still playing, but luckily this was changed later. It is also important to mention that NO card payment is possible, because only cash is real!

Bij aankomst stond de dweil emmer nog in de gang. We kregen een tafeltje bij de klapdeur waar het constant tochtte. Bij navraag een ander tafeltje gekregen. Brood met aioli was aangebrand. Na half uur nog geen drinken gekregen. Bij navraag zeer onaardig afgeblaft. Capaccio zeer dik en bijna niet door te kauwen. Cordon Blue was nog rauw. Toen we dit lieten zien pakte de bedoening het bord weg zonder iets te zeggen. Nog nooit zo een slecht restaurant meegemaakt.

Nice location by the river. Kind service. Cuisine less than basic for the offered prices. Next time I would go to a restaurant. No english, no cash. Card payment is a common problem in Monschau so be prepared with some cash.

Great experience with the waiter named Mo, very friendly and helpful. We were in Monshau for a couple of days and really enjoyed this place. Food was very good and service was great. Had to try the Apple Strudle for desert, it was very big. Highly recommend!

Schade,dass ich die Bewertungen nicht früher gelesen habe: Der Kellner ist sehr unprofessionell, er schreit seine Kollegen so laut an, dass das Sitzen unangenehm ist. Außerdem finde ich, dass der Kellner gepflegter gekleidet sein könnte.Das Personal spricht sehr schlecht Deutsch. Wir warteten fast eine Stunde auf das Gericht, das aussah, als wäre es aus der Dose aufgewärmt worden.Das Besteck war schmutzig, auch die Gläser.Sie haben den Tisch, an dem wir saßen, nicht sauber gemacht, also musste ich die Krümel selbst entfernen. Am Ende versuchte der Kellner, mir 10 Euro weniger Wechselgeld zurückzugeben, unter dem Vorwand, er sei verwirrt. Satt bin ich auch nicht geworden, sodass ich danach zur nächsten Imbissbude gegangen bin, wo es deutlich besser war. Wenn ich könnte, würde ich null Sterne vergeben, denn ein Stern ist zu viel. Nie wieder!!!

It's a shame I didn't read the reviews sooner: The waiter is very unprofessional, he shouts so loudly at his colleagues that it makes sitting uncomfortable. I also think that the waiter could be dressed more neatly. The staff speaks German very poorly. We waited almost an hour for the dish, which looked like it had been reheated from a can. The cutlery was dirty, the glasses too. They didn't clean the table we were sitting at, so I had to pick up the crumbs myself remove. In the end the waiter tried to give me back 10 euros less change under the pretext that he was confused. I wasn't full either, so I went to the next snack bar, where it was much better. If I could, I would give zero stars because one star is too many. Never again!!!

We had dinner with our family in the restaurant the weekend after Christmas. It was cold outside, it was nice and warm inside. The food was tasty and not expensive. Service was good.

I can't rate the hotel, we were only guests in the restaurant. Unfortunately we cannot recommend this. The staff seems overwhelmed, it takes a long time until an order is taken (including drinks), other guests were no different. The sauce was out of the bag and the fries were 80% undercooked. Overall not a good price/performance ratio.

Schnitzel op een koud bord. Champignonsaus in een koude schaal. Zo is het eten snel afgekoeld. Salade niet vers maar reeds voorbereid uit de koeling. Kwaliteit van het eten was redelijk. Bediening daarentegen echt vreselijk. Chagrijn straalt het uit. Zoek ander werk en laat vriendelijk personeel het werk doen.

We had a delicious meal, even though it was busy we were helped quickly. The schnitzels and the rump steak are recommended. In combination with a blond beer it is a golden combination.

We had dinner at the restaurant and it was delicious and the service was excellent. They were really kind and let us in right before the kitchen closed. The schnitzel with the mustard of Monechau & the schnitzel with mushroom sauce were both very good. As was the amazing glühwien! 😍 danke !

Went here for dinner. Food was ok, portions not as big as I am used to in Germany. Owner was rude, even served the plate of food on top of our snow hat. No thank you, asking if we were ok, etc. The Spanish waiter Mo made it a pleasant dinner after all. He was great, friendly, charming and helpful. Thank you Mo!

We came with a group and each ordered the “Monschauer Senfschnitzel” and Jägerschnitzel. The sauce on the mustard schnitzel was rather disappointing. It seemed to us as if cheap mustard from a bucket had been thickened with milk and starch and served on equally cheap schnitzel, with the price of the dish being €18.00. It would have been much better to use Monschauer Dijon mustard, as we all thought. The side salad was served after the main course was received and came with lettuce leaves and ready-made sauce that were definitely not that fresh. However, the staff was friendly and often asked about our well-being, hence the 3 stars. Unfortunately we wouldn't eat here again. It seems to me that it's more about making as much money as possible than offering really good food. You can do better! Nothing can be said about general hygiene as the sanitary facilities were not used.

Unfriendly service: The cosy place got impacted badly by the personnel. The spanish guy reacts not properly to the clients of the restaurant/hotel: Too loud, flirting or even arrogant and rude. Communication between them is by walkie talkie so that all the presents can enjoy their noise. Unbelievable..

Zeer bizarre plek, Spaans sprekende bediening die beetje Duits kan. Enkel cash geld, geen kaartbetaling wat wellicht onwettig is. Als je betaalt, draait de ober zich zeer ostentatief weg zodat hij denkt geen wisselgeld te moeten teruggeven. Als je toiletpapier vraagt, komt er een agressieve vrouw met papiertjes voor aan de lavabo aan, eerst scheldt ze toeristen uit die op ‘haar’ brug naar de ingang staan want ze moeten doorlopen en binnenkomen of weggaan… dan probeert ze met een mes de papierhouder aan de lavabo te openen, als dat niet lukt, zwiert ze er alles boos bovenop. Als je dan vraagt naar toiletpapier scheldt ze dat ze er wel mee zal komen om je gewoon te laten staan. Geen zeep of niks aan de lavabo dus hygiëne…? Voelt als een echte toerist trap. Bediening klaagt ook dat het koud is in duitsland en dat het lekker weer is in Spanje. Heel bizarre tent. Geen volgende keer meer in het gezellige Monschau.

To the restaurant: We all ordered Wiener-style schnitzel with fries, which cost a whopping €18 per portion, but unfortunately it was a convenience schnitzel that later gave us all stomach ache. The service was ok but overall very disappointing and definitely not recommended!

Even though we were not staying here, we were still very welcome to come and eat. The map could be in multiple languages, but this was only a minor point of improvement. Nice full plates and a nice German menu. But what counts most... How delicious was this!!!

The other day I stubbed my little toe on the corner of the table and it hurt less than when they tell me that they don't have a table to eat at in this restaurant. Carlos and the rest of the waiters are charming, the food is delicious (especially the Schnitzel Gabriel and the Haxe) and they were very fast. I can't wait to return to Monschau and be able to enjoy this restaurant!

Recession only about the restaurant Price performance is not okay. We all ordered schnitzels, 2x with mustard sauce and 2x with mushrooms. Unfortunately they were cheap molded chips from the deep fryer. The mustard sauce tasted like a ready-made sauce from a bucket, the fried potatoes were strangely made with indefinable vegetables. Normally there is only doubt and, if you want, bacon. The food was on the table within 5 minutes, which indicates mass processing. For us it was a better "chip shop".

We went to the Christmas market in Monschau and just wanted something to drink and we were thrown out. We were only allowed to stay if we ordered food!!!! A huge disgrace, that's the last one!!!!

Unfortunately, our visit to this restaurant was very disappointing. The waitress was unfriendly and bitchy in her dealings with us from the start. Another problem was the food. The steak was cold and the venison goulash was probably from a can. Hygiene in the restaurant was also particularly worrying. There was no hand soap in the toilet. Overall our visit was very unsatisfactory and I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Unfortunately, our visit to this restaurant was very disappointing. When we made the reservation, we had already pointed out that we would be coming with several families and children. Nevertheless, the waitress was unfriendly and rude in her dealings with us right from the start. When we asked about a child-friendly plate, we were told that only expensive porcelain plates from Italy were used. It seemed as if the intention not to break anything was not understood. After asking several times, we finally received five small plates, but they were dirty and had obviously been hastily submerged. When we turned the plates over, the water ran down. See photo of plates with multiple stains. We had ordered five children's portions, one of which was only served after repeated requests, when the others had already almost finished eating. The waitress insisted that we still had to pay for the late meal, which was incomprehensible to us, even though we didn't even accept the meal because the child had already eaten something else. Another problem was the vegetarian dish, which was ordered as a vegetable soup but contained a mussel (see photo). The waitress said: "It must have been a seafood soup" and was unwilling to apologize for this mistake, even though I pointed out to her that it could be very dangerous for allergy sufferers, as I have an allergy to seafood myself . Instead, she pointed out that the mistake was the chef's and not hers. Hygiene in the restaurant was also particularly worrying. There was no hand soap in the toilet even though I reported this twice. Even after an hour the soap still hadn't been refilled. This suggests that hygiene is not guaranteed both for the guests and in the kitchen. Overall our visit was very unsatisfactory and I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Rating of a child-unfriendly restaurant in Monschau We recently had a reservation at a restaurant in Monschau and were unfortunately very disappointed. Despite registering in advance, we were consistently treated unkindly - especially our children. Here are our experiences in detail: • Inappropriate reception: We were looked at critically as soon as we entered the restaurant. For no reason, we were immediately told to be careful not to damage the Christmas decorations - an inappropriate and unfriendly start to our visit. • Rude service: The waitress was annoyed and rude from the start. When we took the order, she greeted us with a curt "Can I take the order?" We looked for friendliness in vain. • Incorrect dishes: A dish was served incorrectly and when we asked, the waitress responded snidely: "I'm just a waiter, not the cook." No apology, no attempt to correct the error - this is simply unacceptable. • Child-hostile behavior: Our children received annoyed looks several times, and the waitress repeatedly rolled her eyes in a demonstrative manner. When asked whether the restaurant was overwhelmed by the number of guests, she answered directly: "Yes, but not with so many children." A children's meal only arrived after about 30 minutes, and other dishes followed another 20 minutes late. Such behavior clearly makes families feel that they are not welcome here. • Outrageous conclusion: To make matters worse, as we were leaving we heard the comment: “I hope they leave soon.” Such comments are an outrage and show that children are not tolerated here. • The only bright spot: Another waiter made a real effort to calm the situation and was friendly. Unfortunately, he couldn't save the overall impression either. Conclusion: This restaurant is absolutely unsuitable for families with children. The service was unfriendly, the children were treated as a burden, and the staff's comments were disrespectful. We strongly recommend avoiding this restaurant, especially if you are traveling with children.

The rating applies exclusively to the restaurant: We were warmly welcomed and given a table in the middle of the room. The atmosphere is quite pleasant, but that's it. The pork schnitzel with fried potatoes cost just over 20 euros, was small and 100% a frozen product. Had some of Tilmann's Toasties. The fried potatoes were normal potatoes with vegetables, I've never experienced that before. My companion had a deer ragout that was more like mush and tasted like nothing. We paid €58 for both meals and one large beer each. Despite a €4 tip for bad food (the service was trying hard at the beginning), we were also given an unfriendly farewell at the end.

Der Kartoffelpüree war völlig geschmacklos, vermutlich aus der Tüte, das Sauerkraut eine einzige Pampe, die bei einem Gericht als Ersatz für das Püree bestellten Bratkartoffeln entpuppten sich als wässrige Salzkartoffeln (für die auch noch ein Aufpreis von 2,50 € berechnet wurde!),  die kurz in der Pfanne aufgewärmt wurden, das Tonic-Water war vermutlich vom Discounter, wurde lauwarm, fast ohne Kohlensäure direkt im Glas serviert; der Service war pampig und langsam und zu allem Überfluss scheint die Familie, die den Laden führt, den Gastraum als Wohnzimmer (einschl. lautstarker Unterhaltung und schreienden Kindern) gemacht zu haben. Das ganze zu vollkommen überzogenen Preisen (und nur Barzahlung!) - eine Schande für Monschau, wo man durchaus lecker (Café Hüftgold) bis hervorragend (Schnabuleum) essen kann.

Nice environment for the restaurant. Good food but the “Haxe” was still cold so not what you would expect from such a nice restaurant. The other meals were ok but for sure not a highlight.

It is next to the river, the views are beautiful from the hotel room you can see the square and the river. Excellent service, the staff has extensive knowledge of languages, which is very important and pleasant. I would definitely return.

We were not able to inspect the hotel rooms. The beer tastes good, the cocktails don't. Location is 1a and the staff is friendly. Dogs are very welcome. Prices are slightly too high, so a well-intentioned 4 out of 5 points and we will definitely come back

Probably the worst restaurant I have ever eaten in. The quality of the food is 1.) poor and 2.) the cheapest product you can offer. Bread with aioli was the cheapest baked baguette. Cost 5.90 euros. The olives for 4.90 euros can only be cheap mass-produced goods, as it felt like a whole glass (at least 25 pieces) was served at the neighboring table. The schnitzels are clearly finished products, the Monschau mustard sauce looked like mustard from a canister. Dried herbs were sprinkled over it. Even the 1980s sideboards were more attractive and better. The consistency of the game ragout had nothing to do with ragout. Visually so unappealing and an overcooked mess. Simply a complete disaster! In addition, the two main courses were served 15 minutes apart. If you're going out to eat as a couple, that's pretty wrong. The neighboring table was no different. If you make a criticism, the staff will also be abusive and rude. Even more remarkable and insolence is the operator's response to the review. They claim that we ate the dishes and then didn't want to pay. This is a blatant lie! The “ragout” wasn’t even touched. Tried the mustard schnitzel. We still wanted to pay and go to another restaurant. The operator said guests like us didn't need it and didn't take any payment. You can't lie more shamelessly here! And it's also a lie that the neighboring table didn't complain! Outrageous!

Das wohl schlechteste Restaurant in dem ich je gegessen habe. Die Qualität der Speisen ist 1.) schlecht und 2.) die billigste Ware, die man anbieten kann. Brot mit Aioli war das billigste Aufback-Baguette. Kostenpunkt 5,90 Euro. Die Oliven für 4,90 Euro können nur billige Massenware sein, da gefühlt ein ganzes Glas (mindestens 25 Stück) am Nachbartisch serviert wurden. Die Schnitzel sind erkennbar Fertigprodukte, die Monschauer Senfsoße sah aus wie Senf aus dem Kanister. Dazu wurden Trockenkräuter darüber gestreut. Selbst die Anrichte der 1980er Jahre war ansprechender und besser. Das Wildragout hatte mit Ragout in der Konsistenz nichts zu tun. Optisch so unansprechend und eine zerkoche Pampe. Einfach eine reinste Katastrophe! Dazu kam noch, dass die beiden Hauptgänge mit einem Zeitversatz von 15 Minuten serviert wurden. Wenn man zu zweit essen geht, ziemlich daneben. Dem Nachbartisch erging es nicht anders. Wenn man eine Kritik anbringt, dann wird das Personal zudem ausfallend und frech.

Das Essen war das schlechteste was wir je bekommen haben, dazu noch unverschämte Kommentare nach der 1. Beschwerde, wir sind gegangen bevor wir überhaupt angefangen haben zu Essen - die Chefin ist der Oberhammer und bezeichnet sich selbst als „bestes Haus am Platz“ ich sag : Katastrophe - da merkt man das der typische Touri nur 1 Tag kommt und nie wieder einen Fuß reinsetzt . . . We had reserved a table two days in advance. We saw how the appointment was entered. And then... we find ourselves in front of a closed restaurant - day off! What else can you say about that...

We only visited the restaurant so one star for the room. Even though we arrived shortly before closing time, we were warmly welcomed and were able to enjoy our drinks in peace. The restaurant is harmoniously adapted and very cozy. We didn't eat anything. Dogs are also welcome there

We ate at the restaurant. The food was very good. But the quality of the services was very very low. The table wasn't full but we waited 15 minutes because the waiter didn't wanted to take our order. He's behaviour was very unapropiate and he luck of experience. If you want to eat something good and to pe served very well try something else, don't seat there.

We received a warm welcome and had a wonderful meal for a good price. The service is good and it is strange that they speak better Spanish than German, but that was actually very funny

We were just in the restaurant. The food was not convincing and is not justified by the rather high prices and the long waiting time. Some of the dishes were missing components that were on the menu. The taste was okay, but it tasted like mass-produced goods. The service was still very nice and accommodating, but we wouldn't come back.

This restaurant is threatening me with slander for a review I posted over 5 years ago and is attempting to remove negative reviews. What I am writing now is factual. I wrote that review after a visit to the restaurant and can back this up with photos I took at the time. The review I wrote was an honest opinion of the poor food and service, and it is within my consumer rights to express that opinion. I am sure this review will not be approved due to the bullying tactics of this business but if it is approved I would advise any future guests to take photos of your food and receipt and upload these when you review the place in case they threaten to sue you too.

Despite the negative review, we came here for dinner and a beer. The staff was very courteous and friendly and responded openly to our inquiries and referred us to the new owner. Food and atmosphere was great! The invoice was sent to me by email when I asked. I would come back at any time!

We were there for dinner. My husband had the grilled knuckle. Shortly before the end he noticed that the knuckle was still frozen inside. There was no discount because he had eaten almost all of the knuckle. He got a free beer. It might be a good idea to check the inside of the knuckle with a thermometer to see if it is cooked through before serving.

We were only guests in the beer garden as restaurant guests. The location is in the middle of the old town and in our opinion is only suitable for having a refreshing drink. We ordered spaghetti, salads and Wiener schnitzel with fries and beer. The salads cost a whopping €16 for the size of a soup plate without bread/baguette - every pizzeria salad is in a different league. The schnitzel €17.90 was the size of a halved roll, the fries fit on a saucer and tasted anything but delicious. The spaghetti tasted good but was more of a children's portion. The beer was bad, only a “Capricciosa” salad was well received by the group. The service and the location were OK, typical tourist scam with a miserable price/performance ratio. Better to move on...
