Restaurant "Zum Haifisch" in Fehmarn

Super friendly service and delicious fish – that's all you need for a great time. Luckily, it's also one of the few restaurants that doesn't close for the winter.

The kitchen is now mise en place. Excellent, considering they advertise "open 24/7." That was a complete flop... 5 stars, of course, otherwise everything gets rigorously deleted. Everyone can imagine what's left of those 5 stars. But these days, only positive reviews are allowed, right?

Highly recommended, delicious food and great, friendly staff. We will definitely be back. All the best for 2026!

Typically Nordic, typically relaxed, typically friendly. The food, from appetizers to main courses, was all delicious. The size of the restaurant "Zum Haifisch" is really the only thing preventing a perfect score. It's a shame there are so few seats for such a great restaurant. We were incredibly lucky with our reservation. We would gladly eat there again anytime.

Update December 31, 2025, from 2 to 4 stars The food was truly excellent today and very tasty. The wait times were also pleasantly short, allowing us to feel completely comfortable. The friendliness of the staff deserves special mention; they were always attentive, polite, and helpful. Overall, it was a very successful visit with a relaxed atmosphere where everything was just right. We'd gladly come back again. Well, December 15, 2018, at 6:45 p.m. The wait for our first drink was 45 minutes, and another 30 minutes for the food. Borderline acceptable! The food was unfortunately too salty, but the portion size was okay. The service was friendly but overwhelmed by the number of guests. I won't be going back. Unfortunately, I can't recommend it.

A small restaurant specializing in fish, as the name suggests. Very friendly service. The food was also very good. A bit pricey, but the price/performance ratio is good. We look forward to our next visit.

You're greeted warmly and without hesitation! Here you experience true Nordic hospitality, and the service is top-notch. You feel right at home, and the food was fantastic! We ordered the Neptune Platter for two, and it was superb. The taste and the presentation on the platter were both modern and appealing. If you manage to snag a table by the window, you can watch the colorful hustle and bustle of the street. Thanks to the cheerful chef and the attentive gentleman behind the counter.

We went to Haifisch last weekend. The food was fantastic for all of us. There was absolutely nothing to complain about. The service was also excellent. Many other restaurants could learn a thing or two from them. We'll be back.

Today was our first time at the Zum Haifisch restaurant, and what can we say? We only regret not having been there much sooner! From the outside, the restaurant looks rather unassuming, but as soon as you step inside, you immediately feel the cozy ambiance and warm atmosphere. The staff is simply wonderful—heartfelt, with a dry, refreshing sense of humor and always a witty remark ready. You can tell right away: hospitality is truly lived here. And the food… we've rarely eaten such good fish! Plates were passed around, as if to say, "Try this, you have to try it, it's so delicious!" And indeed: each plate was a delight in its own way, without any unnecessary frills, simply honest cuisine, and cooked to perfection. The fish was still beautifully translucent inside, exactly as it should be. The veal schnitzel was also a highlight—juicy, tender, and freshly pounded. (When do you ever hear someone pounding a schnitzel in the kitchen these days?) A huge thank you for this wonderful evening, we'll definitely be back!

Very friendly service! Unfortunately, the food wasn't that great. The duck had skin that wasn't crispy at all. The cabbage sausage platter: the sausage wasn't very tasty; I've had much better. The texture wasn't to my liking either. Perhaps try a different sausage from the local butcher. But that's purely a matter of taste. What I found disappointing was that the mustard was only served from small plastic packets. With a dish like this, where mustard is an essential part, I expect a small dish or something similar. The other option had more of a fast-food vibe and didn't fit the restaurant's lovely ambiance. This is friendly feedback, intended to encourage improvement :) We still had a nice evening there!

We visited the restaurant spontaneously at lunchtime at the end of October 2025 without a reservation. We received a friendly welcome upon entry, and the children were immediately given art supplies – very nice. Thank you! The menu is pleasantly extensive and offers a good selection of soups, salads, fish and meat dishes, as well as typical North German cuisine. We finally opted for Labskaus (a kind of sauerkraut) and a fish platter; the children had pollock with fried potatoes. All the dishes were lovingly prepared and tasted truly excellent. We'd love to come back!

Fine food, definitely the best fried potatoes north of the Harz Mountains, and cheerful staff; even Weinmann arrives half an hour before the kitchen closes… A definite recommendation!

Everything is top-notch, from the food to the ambiance to the service. We've been coming here for dinner almost every day while on vacation for years. The waiters are always up for a laugh. Normally, you get one funny waitress, but here, we get two. The casual banter between the guests and each other makes you feel like you're at a comedy dinner. Keep up the good work. 👍

Very good food! I had the spare ribs, a decent portion. I could have used a few more fries for my taste (but that's not necessary). Otherwise, you can have a chat with your waiter at lunchtime, and you have a nice view from the window or outside, although it was very windy.

I highly recommend this place. It's very good and plentiful food, the waiters are very friendly and cheerful, the value for money is excellent, and the atmosphere is also very clean and comfortable. It's also a great place to go as a group! The restaurant has a few outdoor seating areas in front of the shop, as well as seating in the front area and a seating area at the back.

The food and drinks arrived very quickly, and everything was very well presented, with fried potatoes and fries served in their own bowls so they weren't soggy. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Four of us came for dinner! First, some basics! The restaurant is located right on the main road through the busy town center! Many drivers park their cars here! Depending on the time of year, the traffic is extremely heavy! The cobblestones on the road create a correspondingly noisy atmosphere! The service was good, friendly, and prompt! The prices are a bit higher! Now for the food! The dream trio, three different fried fish fillets with fried potatoes and remoulade, was good (€26.90). The pirate plate (€27.90) was weak in terms of the amount of fish and the shrimp skewer, which was cooked dry! The pan-fried fish (€26.90) was neither tasty nor visually convincing, as all the fillets were overcooked. 🤷‍♂️ Due to the quality defects in the preparation, which can occur with any fried fish dish, the shark is no longer an option for us!

This is our second time here. Our children were warmly welcomed and were immediately provided with art supplies. The food and service were excellent. We'll be back soon.

The fish on both plates was a true delight, succulent, and the portions were quite generous. And a large bowl of fried potatoes was also very tasty. The staff were busy on a Saturday night, but we still received very friendly service. Our server always had a friendly joke, and we felt welcome. Unfortunately, this was our first time there. We've been coming to Fehmarn for so many years and have always walked past it. You pay a little more than elsewhere, but it's worth it. We received a very warm welcome today, and our dog was also given a very friendly welcome. We had made a reservation—which is generally only possible in the inner dining area—and were given a table in the front area. It was nice and quiet, so our young dog could learn to eat in a relaxed atmosphere. We had already seen the promising menu on the website, and so today we had the Neptune fish platter for two people. The portion size is very generous, with a total of six select fish fillets, along with the most tender calamari we've ever had. Two portions of salad with excellent dressing, delicious fried potatoes, and a delicately seasoned aioli rounded off the platter. Attractively presented and very tasty. We enjoyed it and feel the value for money is more than justified. Plus, a wonderfully pleasant chat with our waiter, a few quick remarks...that's how we like it. We like the ambiance; we prefer simple and somewhat subdued decor. We'll definitely be back.
