An uncomfortable little restaurant with a very friendly elderly couple running the place, he in the kitchen, she serving. If you like hearty, hearty food, this is the place for you. It's a great value for money! We'd love to go back!

The food and drinks are top-notch as always. We've been coming back to the Schnitzelhaus for years when we vacation on Fehmarn. The service has always been friendly, and I can't understand some of the negative reviews at all. We'll be happy to come back! 🤝🏼

Bring plenty of time! There were only four tables occupied. The waitress gave us our menus but never came back. We left after 20 minutes.

How ungrateful... everyone was overwhelmed, the food was cold and inedible... then they don't deliver... man, where do we live, that needs to be worked on. On holiday you just want to sit on the terrace after the beach and not move, but you're still hungry, then you call and get an answer, we don't have time for that... unbelievable... no time... people, if I say something like that at work... well, I don't care, the food was and will always be inedible... never, never again!!!

Anyone who wants to eat at the Schnitzelhaus must reserve a table in advance; no mass service. We're on Fehmarn for two weeks, so we booked two tables at the Schnitzelhaus. We've been coming back for several years. Last week, a gentleman and his companion arrived late and suddenly started a huge fuss, insulting the staff, spitting on the floor, yelling, harassing us other guests with his harassment and honking, and now apparently threatening to call the health department. The manager of the Schnitzelhaus remained calm. To the gentleman: Your behavior was completely inappropriate!

Reservations by phone have always proven to be advantageous for securing a table. The restaurant's location is excellent, as is the quality of the food. The value for money is unbeatable, and the service is also commendable. Thanks again for the helpful tips, which helped me avoid over-ordering 😅 Update. During my recent vacation, I visited Schnitzelhaus twice. The quality, portion size, and service remain consistently high.

We ate at the Schnitzelhaus twice during our campsite stay. The waitress and owner of the restaurant may not seem very friendly at first glance, but she is. She runs the restaurant alone with her husband, so it's best to call in advance. We were able to do this at short notice. The food is freshly prepared, and you can hear the schnitzels being pounded from outside. So, be prepared with some time, as it takes a while. The food was delicious, and we had to struggle to finish the schnitzel. We were there with four other good eaters and a child, and both times we had leftovers, which they packed for us to take home. We'd love to come back on our next vacation.

After a great bike ride, we wanted to reward ourselves with a delicious schnitzel. So we stopped at the Schnitzelhaus and allowed ourselves to speak to the waitress. In our opinion, the restaurant was fairly busy, with three occupied tables (seven people) and two reserved tables. Well, what can I say, or rather, write?! We were turned away in such an unprofessional manner that we lost our appetite. We (two people) got back on our bikes and rode towards Katharinenhof to the Waldpavillon restaurant. We were so surprised by the friendly service and the absolute culinary delight. In our opinion, a "must" when vacationing on Fehmarn.

Very unfriendly owners, and that has nothing to do with the North German mentality. We had reserved a table for 7:00 p.m. and arrived at 7:05 p.m. We didn't receive a "Moin" in return, but were instead spitefully informed that we were half an hour late. Warning: Some of the food was out of date, and the meat was of the worst quality. According to research, the chef has no training. All in all, "the worst food." I've never experienced anything so bad. The health department has already been informed!!!!!

We, too, were fobbed off by the grumpy lady because we dared to ask for a free table. There were about five tables occupied, which seems to be causing extreme stress for the operators 😅

Terribly horrible person at the cash register. When we came in she didn't look at us, not even a hello, not a smile. She absolutely shouldn't work in service. We try to speak English with her & she either doesn't answer at all or answers rudely in German. We left. She didn't want customers & didn't want to sell anything either.

We asked inside if we could sit down and were told we had to make a reservation, and that it was advertised everywhere on the website, but it only says it's recommended, and the website isn't even up to date. It still says they're closed and won't reopen until April 1, 2025. It's July... I find it sad that people give me such a hard time for not making a reservation, and that I have to be told that we're in Germany and they should know it's the holidays. I don't recommend it.

Everything is freshly prepared here, so be aware of this, so plan on allowing a bit more time. The service was friendly but also assertive. Unfortunately, both schnitzels were so thin that all you could taste was breading. It's a shame, I was still hungry afterward.

What these two older people conjure up is truly delicious and plentiful. Be sure to make a reservation, as they can't book all the tables to accommodate the two of you. It's not as if campsite residents have priority. They simply book as many tables as they can. The food is excellent, and if you're nice and polite to the waitress, they'll be nice too. We come back every year. We were there again this year, with a reservation. The food was once again very good. We'd definitely come back. Because of the delicious food, and perhaps also because of the atmosphere there.

The food here is delicious. The portions are very large, and the schnitzels are freshly prepared, not frozen.

We were there at 5:45 p.m., 3 of the 10 tables outside were occupied, and the inside was empty. We were told that there were no seats available before 7:30 p.m. and that we should make a reservation two days in advance. We thanked them and left. You rarely experience something so lousy and lackluster. Their only good luck is that they're in a hotspot, which means they're constantly bringing in new customers. And that's how they behave. Absolutely not recommended!

Extremely unfriendly, no reservation possible without 2 days prior reservation, but almost empty, unfriendly tone, not acceptable at all

We had schnitzel topped with cheese, one with tomatoes and a fried egg, and the other with fresh mushrooms and onions. Definitely recommendable! The schnitzel was freshly pounded. The fries were super crispy. They were probably fried twice, like the Belgians do. Reservations are a good idea, as it's a small business that's probably only working with its resources. You might want to be a little understanding. You'll definitely get priority if you stay at the adjacent campsite.

We received a very warm and friendly welcome. Our dog was also lovingly cuddled. The food was really good, with delicious fries and sauces. We can only say positive things and would be completely satisfied.

So (also to all ⭐ reviewers) - (my personal opinion) Food -- we had - 1x 79. Mushroom schnitzel (pork) with fresh sautéed mushrooms and hollandaise sauce, fries, mayo, and a small side salad + large beer + nightcap and 1x 170. Wiener schnitzel (veal), with lemon, fries, ketchup, and a small side salad + small beer + nightcap -- very, very tasty and a huge portion (we didn't quite manage it), everything fresh and top quality Service -- very friendly and accommodating (maybe it comes across differently - but sometimes with a chat and a listen) Atmosphere -- unfortunately not the nicest but okay BUT (according to the couple who run the restaurant) they are the sole owners (he - cook, she - waitress, occasionally the daughter helps out), both attach great importance to freshness and quality -- they have also had their experiences with (Top) Staff made the ambiance. The landlord is responsible for this and apparently doesn't want to change anything. The table seating (reserved for campers) is also the landlord's (also the campsite owner's) policy. Reservations and no takeaway food (I can understand that - planning and quality are maintained), and there was a larger group with small children and a dog there (they were served and treated very kindly). AND --not everyone has them -- Plates and cutlery for children and extra plates and cutlery for adults €0.00 -- You can complain, criticize, and give bad reviews about many things -- but addressing them directly lacks the guts to do so.

The location is beautiful, but that's about where the positive impressions end. Unfriendly service, overpriced food, and frozen food. Once is too much.

We booked a meal at the Schnitzelhaus for our 50th wedding anniversary. A very friendly phone call during the booking process, a surprise upon arrival at the restaurant. The table was beautifully set, and the food was delicious. Don't let negative reviews influence you.

We arrived without a reservation, wanting to eat schnitzel on a whim. We quickly made our way from the adjacent campsite to the front and lucked out with a spot. The somewhat cool-seeming waitress turned out to be Nordic-friendly after a bit of silly chatter. The freshly pounded and breaded schnitzel and the fries were delicious. We'll make a reservation next time so we can enjoy it again. And don't forget: those who are friendly to others usually receive the same in return.

Why should I write so long? I haven't seen anything so unfriendly in a long time! But luckily, there are restaurants (Altes Zohlhaus) where you're treated excellently. Thanks for nothing. And keep it up. Karma takes care of things like that. Regards.

I've never met such heartless people. We were caught in a thunderstorm and heavy rain during our bike ride and sought shelter. Since the restaurant was still closed, we asked the two people working on the terrace if we could take shelter on the covered terrace. The answer was a resounding NO. We ended up standing under tall trees during the violent thunderstorm. Even today, I'm still speechless about these people's behavior.

Worst people ever. They leave us standing outside during thunderstorms.

A majority of the available tables are either reserved for guests of the adjacent campsite or designated as drinks/cake tables, so that as a "normal guest" you can save yourself a trip if you come here to eat what is even in the name - or anything other than cake. You simply won't find a table. find

Very unfriendly landlady. The open sign was shining outside, it was within opening hours and yet we were turned away very rudely and weren't even allowed to buy an ice cream lolly for our daughter. It's better to go a little further to Niobe

We were there spontaneously and were warmly served. Value for money was good and the fries were the best I've eaten in a long time. Parking was free and right on the beach.

I felt the love in the food. The atmosphere is pure paradise. The schnitzel should be checked by a star chef and not improved. I love it. Definitely worth a visit.

Are guests here right now. The first thing you notice is the unfriendly greeting from the service staff. You have the feeling throughout your stay that you are welcome, "customer threatens to order". We don't come here anymore and can't recommend it. The food has a canteen feel

Food great! What more salad would be nice. But everything was very tasty and freshly prepared. Ambience...like grandma's in the 60s/70s. A bit untidy. But somehow quaint. But the lady of the house...oh dear. I feel sorry for the husband (the chef)...when the season is almost over and she can no longer vent her frustration on the guests. Unfriendly from the reservation on the phone to the payment.

The “head chef” made the food taste great. Schnitzel was overlapping. The atmosphere was like grandma's in the 60s I can really only recommend it We'd love to come back.

First of all, the food is great. The schnitzels are pounded and apparently cooked in the pan. The plate is also nicely presented. The atmosphere is very fried. What was strange to me was that there was a huge spider web 20 cm from my shoulder. If this was an intentional accessory, I apologize for my objection. Let's come to the service, we had a rocky start when making the reservation as we were complimented into the room by the landlady and we had to line up in front of her counter. A nice explanation of the reasons in advance would certainly have helped to avoid giving the impression of being tested. In the evening the landlady was extremely friendly, although I couldn't help but think it was forced politeness. For example, I was able to experience what it feels like to be friendly. B. Experience it in the “Cafehmarn” café in Petersdorf, in the lütten Steakhouse or at Georg's Fischkiste.

We were last there in May and September 2022. The food is rustic and very tasty. And yes, it can take 30 minutes, but we point out that everything is freshly prepared and that's how it tastes. The Jägerschnitzel with fresh mushrooms was excellent at an absolutely reasonable price, as were the currywurst fries. And so I could list a few more things. The landlady is (as already read here) an island original, yes, maybe a bit grumpy, but also warm in her own way. A visit there every holiday is a must for us, and we would also like to visit there a second time. We look forward to the next visit in May 2023 :-) We cannot confirm the few negative reviews! Addendum: I was there again in September 24 and the Jägerschnitzel is still very tasty. See you again on May 25th :-)

We went to the Schnitzelhaus today without a reservation. We were warmly welcomed and we were also kindly informed about the waiting time. We got a seat and were provided with drinks. The wait was worth it, we weren't disappointed. The food is freshly prepared and you can tell. It was just so delicious. Nobody was unfriendly to us at all, quite the opposite. Of course we will recommend the Schnitzelhaus to others.

The first time on Fehmarn. The Schnitzelhaus promised a nice lunch. Many tables are reserved for the campers, which is ok. So I politely asked if I could eat here. A very rude lady directed us to a table outside. The statement at the front left was a bit inaccurate as the front left was occupied and the others were reserved. Since I didn't want to spoil my good mood, we chose another location.

We had schnitzel with fries and matjes with fried potatoes. Both were great. Good portions. Reservation required by telephone was problem-free. The store is conservative in the best possible way! Unfortunately we only discovered it at the end of our vacation, otherwise we would have gone there more often.

Unfortunately I have to give one star. If you could give minus stars, I would have taken them. The two of us sat outside. The waitress came and took drinks. We said we would also like to eat. Ordered bratwurst with fries. It took. Bratwurst was on the heat a little too long (dark) but with caraway seeds in the mixture, which created an interesting taste.

Since we weren't sure whether it was self-service, we wanted to inquire inside. An old, bad-tempered waitress told us what we wanted. We said something to eat and drink. The lady then responded with a grumpy “then sit down,” accompanied by an unfriendly shake of the head. For us this was enough of a good thing and we moved away. The restaurant was empty at noon at noon (no wonder) and half of the tables were either reserved for camping guests or marked with... not for eating! We can only confirm the partly negative reviews regarding the unfriendly service!!

We became aware of this restaurant online. The desire for schnitzel was in the foreground. And what can I say? We weren't disappointed. The meat was super tender and tasted very tasty. The service here is perfectly fine considering that it is a two-man operation. Therefore, table reservations are a must. We would love to come back again.

We didn't want to just sit at a table because all the free tables were reserved for campsite guests. It later turned out that no other guests came. So the two of us stood alone at the counter for about 5 minutes as ordered and not picked up. Then a waitress came with two plates to serve and we were greeted friendly: “Out of the way!” it was 8:30 p.m. Kitchen is open until 9 p.m. When we asked if we could eat something else, we were frowned at and told that it was pretty late now. Well, we were allowed to grit our teeth and order schnitzel twice. Once with fries as a small children's portion and once regularly with fried potatoes. “I don’t make fried potatoes at this time anymore. You can have fries and there is no small portion. Children’s portion only up to the age of twelve.” Well then. Regardless, I was hungry. Food came and was ok. The service was really bad and the treatment of the guests also left a lot to be desired. All in all, I don't have to go there again.

I can only agree with all the negative reviews. The lady is super “rough” The seemingly 100 pieces of paper attached somehow speak volumes 🤷🏻‍♀️ The standard sentence seems to be: I only have one cook! No wonder. I wouldn't like to work there either! So I definitely can't recommend this store. 😱

I had the fried potatoes with bacon, onions and three fried eggs because I was really in a mood. Very tasty. I can only recommend. I got really full. For €12.50 you can't complain. The schnitzels there are a bit too expensive for my taste. OK. Of course it is also located right on the water ;) Clear recommendation (for fried potatoes with bacon and eggs:)) the shop. Oh yes. Almost forgotten. It's better to book a table in advance with several people (I was there alone). Otherwise it's a matter of luck getting one.

Impudent, almost cheeky staff. No card payment, no takeaway food and eating on site is only possible with a prior table reservation even though the whole store was empty and that was still the case three hours later. It's a shame, the restaurant would definitely have a lot of potential under professional management, but we definitely won't spend a cent there.

We were able to sit outside nicely. We didn't have a reservation, but the waitress found a place for us during ongoing business. Menu could be more varied. But if there are no staff and the store is seasonal, you can't expect anything else.

Schnitzel Graus After I looked back at the negative criticism from other people who had rated the owner of the alleged Schnitzel House, I reacted cheekily and brazenly to the point where I couldn't do it anymore. I also had to express my experience - this person has completely lost my sense of reality I had ordered a table without ordering, it's not possible because it's supposedly always completely reserved, which doesn't correspond to reality at all, but only one or two seats are always occupied. That's the owner's system because she can't manage more than a maximum of 5 or 6 people if you can I could even call it that, I got a place in the middle of the sun it was 5 p.m. I asked for another place in the shade then the owner with the charm of a self-propelled howitzer said everything was reserved at the end! She reluctantly accepted that I sat down outside at a small table in the shade. Then the so-called fresh Jägerschnitzel arrived. Anyone who knows anything about food knows that there is nothing fresh about it and it is so terrible that you can't even compare it with a good french fries stall or motorway rest stop That would be an insult to these companies. I wanted to reserve a table for August by phone today. A very unfriendly voice answered the phone. I told her the date and 6 adults. She said ok. Then I named my two children and immediately said: No, such large groups are not possible. I was completely perplexed because I've never heard anything like that before. That couldn't be covered and it's peak season. The answer left me completely speechless. I explained to her that I couldn't leave my children at home or that we would split up. She explained to me that it wasn't possible and I had to understand that. No question about their restaurant, their rules. So I thanked you for the conversation and hung up. I strongly assume that a beautiful island like Fehmarn also has good restaurants that would like to welcome 6 adults and 2 restaurant-experienced children (who can behave) as guests. So if you want to make a reservation, then not in “large groups” of 6 people or more.

CATASTROPHIC! Rather unappealing from the outside. I was hungry, so I went in without a reservation and asked for a table, to which the answer was that everything was reserved and there was nothing left to do today. The lady was doing the crossword puzzle with coffee and milk and a table outside was occupied. I watched the whole thing from the campsite until 8:30 p.m. Nothing happened anymore. No crowds, no buses with guests. So dear owners, if I don't feel like having guests, turn the key and lease it or close it.

My husband had reserved a table for in 2 days. Afterwards we were so annoyed by the unfriendliness of the service that we canceled the table again. I won't take any money there. There are other restaurants that warmly welcome their guests.

We have been visiting the Schnitzelhaus during our summer vacations for several years and are more than satisfied every year. If you're looking for quick mass processing like in other restaurants, you're in the wrong place here. Each schnitzel is pounded, breaded and fried as required - that's why it tastes so uniquely fresh and delicious! Spontaneous visits to the restaurant are not recommended; the lady of the house recommends making an early reservation by telephone. Anyone who expects a well-adjusted, disinterested and always overly friendly staff will also be “disappointed”. The resolute boss serves herself and is just as friendly as you approach her! So if you are friendly, you will receive friendly service. As simple as that ;-) We are already looking forward to the next visit! Good luck!

An absolute hit for us, because that's no way to win customers! We had been on our feet all day and came here by chance when we wanted to sit outside and the door opened. The owner came and said no more today, because please make a reservation for 2 to 3 days???!!!! Also in an unfriendly tone! Sorry, but that kind of behavior isn't acceptable, and you can't make a reservation 2/3 days in advance? For us a bistro by the sea, which we don't recommend!

Rustic, quaint restaurant with very tasty home cooking

Delicious food, very friendly and child-loving hosts. A must on every one of our holidays is a stop at the Schnitzelhaus. Large portions and fair prices. You should reserve a table for dinner. In the afternoon after a long walk, we like to treat ourselves to a delicious waffle and the kids to a hot chocolate. You should definitely allow for some waiting time as all dishes are freshly prepared. We will be back definitely

We were warmly welcomed, service was great, drinks and food were at their best. Everything is freshly prepared here. Anyone who complains here and gives such bad reviews should go somewhere else. We were more than full and satisfied. Thank you and keep it up. You have us as regular customers.

Very nice little restaurant, we were here in January. The service and the chef were very nice and they are both very child-friendly. We had a Wiener Schnitzel Original, Schnitzel Hawaii and our little daughter, chicken nuggets with fries. The portions were decent and we were all full.

The Schnitzel House I just felt like schnitzel. Since I didn't want to eat schnitzel in a fish restaurant, I used the net and came across this house. After a few attempts, I heard an unfriendly voice on the phone and booked a table for 7:30 p.m. in the evening. Arrived, parked and viewed from the outside. I actually wanted to escape. But ok, we were hungry and wanted to test it. It was thundering and quite cool so we went into the “dining room”. All tables were free, but we were rudely sent out under the canopy, saying the tables were reserved... So we ordered and waited... A disappointment. My wife had a veal schnitzel, thin as paper and tough as leather. I had a normal pork schnitzel. This could have been delicious if it wasn't for the sauce. In short, a smooth 6-. Worth mentioning is the unfriendly manner of the service, who tried to make our stay as unpleasant as possible. Thanks for nothing.

It's a shame, it's the autumn holidays and the Schnitzelhaus is on holiday. It was completely free to walk there from Niobe (it was still a wonderful walk along the coast). I wholeheartedly begrudge the innkeepers their holiday, but why do you have to close the shop during the autumn holidays when it is also closed for the rest of autumn and winter. There were enough customers out and about and we were just a few of several vacationers who stood in front of the closed door today. A restaurant business in such a location is also an obligation. You should perhaps look for other tenants who are customer and tourism-oriented. Since we can't judge anything except the locked door, there can only be one star for NOTHING.

First of all, I have to say that we were blinded by the statement "The Schnitzelhaus is great. You have to reserve at least two days in advance." The second part is also correct, you have to reserve two days in advance. Not because all tables are occupied, but because only 3-4 tables are occupied. We had reservations for 6:30 p.m. There were 2 tables with 2 people each occupied when we arrived. The service is slow and could be nicer, but it would be ok if the rest were right. We heard the cook's constant knocking from the kitchen. We might have guessed that the meat would be pounded so thin that the breading would be thicker. We don't know what we ate, whether it was veal or something else. We didn't taste anything. While we were eating, the four guests who were already there said goodbye and two new tables came, each with two people each. There were reserved signs on all the tables. People kept coming who asked for a table and were turned away saying everything was reserved. Only no one came for the reserved tables. The people who were turned away were quite irritated by the many (approx. 10) unoccupied tables. We were there until 8 p.m., during which time, apart from the 2 tables already mentioned, only one other table was occupied by 5 people. When we left there were 3 tables occupied by 9 people and about 10 free tables. I find it hard to believe that all of those free tables were reserved after 8 p.m. The thought arises that there is an artificial shortage here. Maybe because the two people, cook and conditions who work there can no longer manage it. Is quite possible. But then you should deal with it honestly and not give the impression that the restaurant is so good that everything is always full. Speaking of the restaurant, the quality of the food is more reminiscent of a snack bar. If you want a giant schnitzel that is thin enough to see through and has ready-made sauce, you're in good hands. If you expect more at a price of €24.50, you should look for something else. A total failure for us.

It was very disappointing that we drove to a restaurant and found a chip shop. By the way, nothing works without a reservation. The food was like a chip shop You shouldn't expect service, the owner doesn't make it easy for you to feel comfortable. Ambience not very nice, everything very unkempt and not particularly nice.

We have been there for the third time now and will come back again. You have to make a reservation and bring some time. The schnitzels are all freshly prepared. The boss served us very nicely and we had a nice evening with our friends.

Good schnitzels that are even freshly made, but the service staff is so unfriendly! A pity! So if you want good schnitzels and bad service, then you've come to the right place...

Here you are not in a fast food restaurant and you are not fed off with ready-made products. The couple who run it bring delicious and freshly prepared dishes to the table. This takes time and would not be possible with a full house. Unfortunately, this is not communicated well. We still felt comfortable and would love to come back on our next vacation.

Very, very tasty food. It takes a while for the food to arrive, but it is freshly prepared and not just thrown into the deep fryer. So the wait is very worth it! 🤩

Wir waren mit 2 Pärchen dort zum Essen. Jeder hatte etwas anderes gehabt. Alle 4 Essen waren sehr lecker und wir sind pappesatt geworden. Das Lokal selbst ist etwas rustikal, aber sauber. Leider gibt es nur ein Personal für Getränke und Essen. Mit allem Respekt, aber die Bedienung ist auch schon etwas älter, hat aber das Lokal im Griff. Wir kommen nächstes Jahr bestimmt wieder :-))

In Unkenntnis der realen Fakten hier den Stab zu brechen über zwei Menschen, die im Rahmen ihrer Möglichkeiten ausgezeichnetes und wertiges Essen servieren und es lediglich vermeiden sich zu überfrachten mit Gästen da ansonsten die Qualität darunter leidet ist mehr als unfair. Mir ist eine schroffe Bedienung, die auch mal hemdsärmlig aber ehrlich agiert lieber, als eine übertrieben und vordergründig freundliche, die nur minderwertige Kost auf den Tisch bringt. Ich bin schon seit Jahren immer wieder mal im Schnitzelhaus zu Gast und werde es auch weiterhin gerne tun.
