The food was great. If you don't want to wait long, don't order the duck because it's freshly prepared and highly recommended.

Very good and delicious food, the staff was very friendly. We were there with a dog, so it was only allowed on the terrace. Dogs are not allowed inside. Reservations are only possible for inside. I highly recommend this restaurant.

A very tasty raw vegetable salad with an excellent cod fillet. Prices are reasonable for the quality offered. We'll be happy to come back.

The food and drinks were excellent – ​​kudos to the chef! It did take a while for the food to arrive, but the quality more than made up for it. The ambiance/decor was appropriate, clean, and very well-maintained. The only thing that marred the overall impression today was the service. She wasn't overwhelmed – how could she be, it wasn't particularly busy at the time we were there – but rather unfriendly (if not even a little annoyed). Maybe she was just having a bad day… Nevertheless, I can highly recommend the restaurant!

The food was excellent, and special requests were accommodated with gracious care. Update 5/30/25: Unfortunately, despite the sunshine, we didn't have a choice between the terrace (two occupied tables), where we would have liked to sit (the sun was shining), and the dining room. It's a shame about the unnecessary trip, but we'll eat somewhere else now.

We wanted to spend a nice early evening with friends and went there without a reservation. There was only one server. Our friends' meal consisted of gravy with a dollop of mashed potatoes, and there were about five pieces of veal goulash. Our fish dishes were okay. However, my side dish was inedible. Since the fried potatoes were black, I complained and received a bowl shortly afterwards. I claimed, however, that this was my old one and only the top slices had been replaced. Why is a guest treated like this? Does the chef think the guest won't notice, or will they eat it anyway? I like roasted flavors, but here the side dish was charred/burnt. The actual fish dish was okay and filling even without a side dish. Unfortunately, the server only got the heat. Very disappointing, and the kitchen's audacity annoyed me for days afterward!

The food is delicious, the service is friendly, and the atmosphere is perfect. The menu is extensive and the prices are reasonable.

The food is very good. It's definitely worth reserving a table in advance. If you're bringing your dog, you can sit on the outdoor terrace; dogs are not allowed inside. The ox cheeks are highly recommended. In bad weather, we've even ordered takeaway, as we have dogs ourselves and don't leave them alone on vacation. The service is friendly. We enjoy going there again and again.

We couldn't get a table because it was full. The staff seemed stressed and overwhelmed.

Eating well. Prices are now expensive. Just being outside with your dog is no longer appropriate. You don't even need to talk about the website. Almost non-existent.

So far I have always given 5 stars here. Since the last visit in June 2024, today has been an absolute disaster. Our popular fish platter was simply not edible, let alone tasty. The interior is barely warmer than the 10 degrees outside. Despite the warming plate, the food got cold faster than it could be eaten. An absolute mistake today.

A beautiful, sweetly decorated restaurant with really delicious food as well as a starter with greetings from the chef, which came to our table as a small gift. Very nice service. I can only recommend it.

We were and have always been enthusiastic about the food. Yesterday we ate fish broth for the first time and got 10 points from me, something so delicious 😋 Service was very attentive, even our dog 🐕 got fresh water without saying anything Thank you, we will definitely be back

We had ordered a vegan latte macchiato but got a latte macchiato with normal cow's milk and the schnitzel didn't taste like anything, nor did the potatoes

A bit out of the way, but good food, good service, reserving a table makes sense

We decided to stop by the old customs house because we were in the mood for German food. We sat outside in the patio because we had a dog with us, which is not allowed inside. The food was very tasty, we had fish and schnitzel😋. The service could be a little more communicative😀 All in all a recommendation 👍🏻

Had dinner there today at 5:30 p.m. It was very tasty hot. The service was good and quick. We really enjoyed it and enjoyed it.

We waited over an hour for the food. The fish plate was subterranean. Three types of fish lay on top of each other and were mushy. The vegetables were next to it and the fried potatoes were on the other side. All in a slush of hollandaise sauce. The North Sea crabs were forgotten but added later. We still had ox cheeks, making two cheeks from one ox cheek. The staff wasn't attentive. It never saw that the drinks were empty. Price-performance? What an achievement! High price! A no go for us!

It was closed even though it said it was open on the internet

We have only been there once and had a very good and rich fish platter for two people. The dishes are more in the upscale category.

The 1/2 duck with dumplings and red cabbage was very tasty. The service was super nice without being intrusive. I can recommend it.

Absolute top. We ate here several times on vacation and tried a lot of things. Roulades, ox cheeks, fish, schnitzel, soups - everything is delicious and freshly prepared. Great ambience and nice service.

I can't understand all the positive reviews. You'll be treated like dirt there if you're even noticed. After what felt like an eternity of waiting, my husband and I left without ever being able to place an order.

Unfortunately, despite many calls over several days, all during opening hours of course, we never reached anyone. At some point the call is redirected to a mailbox, the reservation is left there (for 3 days in advance), a call back saying it worked or not never came. Then of course there was nothing reserved on that evening and we were allowed to leave with a terse "no, everything is full today, you can't call on our rest day" (I wasn't). Unfortunately, the homepage is also from the last century and the menu is not visible. It may be that you can eat good fish there (if you can make it to the table), but it was also available in other restaurants on the island. We won't try again...

Was here for the first time today but not the last time. The fish platter was excellent and good value, although not cheap. The service was nice and quick. The atmosphere is cozy. I have no suggestions for improvement.

We were completely satisfied with the food, the service and the ambience. There was nothing to complain about. Both the plaice fillet and the cod fillet were excellently fried. The side dishes were also well prepared and tasty. The potato pancakes also tasted good and seemed to be homemade. In my opinion the prices are reasonable. Unfortunately, I can't understand a lot of the bad reviews. It is a busy restaurant that puts customer service ahead of telephone calls. We were there in person and reserved a table. All tables were fully booked and reserved in the evening. Unfortunately, there are sulky tourists who think that the world belongs to them alone and then complain that there are tables available. Well, I can recommend a visit without reservation.

If you are on vacation on the island of Fehmarn, definitely eat at the Zollhaus, it tastes delicious. Tip: Zollhaus fish platter for 2 people, but easily enough for 3, it tastes great 👍🏆. Keep it up, we’ll be back next year 👋👋

Food is ok, but the people are simply incompetent. Despite reserving a table, there were endless waiting times for the umpteenth time because you were probably too incompetent to write down names.

A visit is an absolute must. The fish plate for two people was the best we had on the island. Even the nuggets for the children were homemade and are not frozen goods. Admittedly, it is a bit more expensive, but the ratio is absolutely justified. The service was also very friendly and attentive. So come on, it's 100% worth it!

Yesterday we were in the Old Customs House, 2 people with Yorkshire Terriers. We have been visiting the restaurant for years, although with a break of around 4 years. In short: delicious food continues, dog owners are no longer allowed into the restaurant, it is not visible on the website. Dogs and their owners are allowed to sit on the terrace without rain protection and enjoy the delicious food in the rain. We wish the Old Customs House much success with its surprising and strange way of leaving guests with dogs sitting in the rain. Ralf Schönenborn

We are disappointed with our visit today. As guests with dogs, we were only allowed to sit outside. Even when a heavy thunderstorm came, we were not very kindly allowed to dine in the dining room without a dog. It would have been nice if the terrace had a small place protected from the rain, or if there was at least somewhere to shelter it. Our Yorkshire terrier was also not allowed into the dining room in a closed dog bag. The argument “a waiter has already been bitten” is pretty weak. Is this impossible on the terrace? Of course, all guests with dogs should show the necessary respect for other guests and the staff and consider the situation as to whether it is possible and sensible to visit this restaurant. A couple with a dog had to hastily eat their meal in the rain. The food was good and plentiful, but the hollandaise tasted like the well-known ready-made product.....The prices are high, like everywhere else. In any case, we didn't feel welcome (that was much different in previous years) and we won't be coming back!

We haven't eaten fish with as much enjoyment as we did here in a long time. Juicy, tender, not overly seasoned and each fish had its own flavor. As a side dish we had fried potatoes and a freshly prepared mixed salad. We would love to come back.👍🏻

Fish platter for 2 people. First of all, the fish soup was delicious, but actually too much.

Excellent cod fillet (2 pieces) eaten in an egg shell with savoy cabbage and boiled potatoes. Then as dessert, eat 1 portion of blueberry pancakes (2 pieces) with ice cream and cream, divided into 2 portions, tastefully decorated. The espresso was also very good, hot and aromatic. Waitress from Ukraine very friendly and accommodating. Table reserved immediately for the next evening.

We have been coming here to eat on holiday for years and the quality of the food has always been very good. I can say we tried a lot of the menu, whether fish or meat, it didn't matter, it was all beautifully prepared and tasty. The staff is always friendly. We were there on June 15th. 24 here for dinner. Very good service and cozy atmosphere. The food was very tasty and the lamb shank was cooked to perfection.

Would have liked to eat there. But we're holidaymakers with dogs and unfortunately they're not allowed into the restaurant, so we're out. It's a shame... rather rare and unusual for Fehmarn. But luckily there are enough alternatives with good food and a nice atmosphere.
