Restaurant Zollhaus zu Gottorf ( Veranstaltungsrestaurant ) in Schleswig

If it were possible, this place would get zero stars... Wedding Reception: Communication with the proprietor, Mr. Vraae, was lengthy from the beginning, but friendly and accommodating. It took months, however, before the final offer was available. Nevertheless, we were convinced it would be a success. The venue itself is absolutely stunning. It's more suitable for small groups. A lovely garden with a terrace is also available. Until 1:30 a.m., everything was fine and proceeded as agreed. Suddenly, Mr. Vraae asked us how much longer the celebration would last and that 2:00 a.m. was the latest possible end time. Perplexed by this announcement, we and our guests tried to speak with him. But to no avail… The staff started clearing the tables and even mopping the floor at exactly 2:00 a.m. The party was still in full swing…we were more or less kicked out, much to our disappointment… The next morning brought another shock: when it came time to pay, Mr. Vraae wanted to charge us for each drink individually, even though we had signed an offer for an all-inclusive drinks package. This would have meant paying double. Naturally, we refused. We were treated extremely rudely and more or less like drunks because we had finished two whole bottles of ouzo…at a wedding reception…what were we supposed to do? Call the police? We somehow came to an agreement. We will never set foot in the Zollhaus restaurant again!

We were guests at the hotel and ate here on the evening of our arrival. Due to the strong competition in the area, the restaurant is struggling. The food was truly delicious, but the prices were typical for a hotel restaurant – quite high. We sat in the courtyard, which was very pleasant. There were also plenty of umbrellas to provide some shade during the sunny evening hours. When I order a Wiener Schnitzel, I want to eat as close to the original as possible. For me, that means: large and pounded thin, classically breaded, and fried in clarified butter. However, what I received were two smaller, relatively thick schnitzels, which were additionally coated in panko and had no bubbles in the breading. Despite this, the taste was excellent! The side dish could have been a bit more generous – one should definitely be satisfied :)

We were there for a late lunch today. The atmosphere on the terrace was great. Besides one other guest, we were the only ones there. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't great. But nevertheless, we were very satisfied. A small, straightforward menu, friendly service, and very dog-friendly. The food and drinks were delicious. The prices were perfectly reasonable. We highly recommend it.

Service was okay, but nothing more. The food was cold and the prices were steep. Two stars for the nice ambiance. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it.

Wir waren heute dort und es hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Eine kleine feine Karte. Das Restaurant verdient mehr Aufmerksamkeit . Schönes Ambiente. Bieten auch selbstgemachten Kuchen.

We satyed at this small and well restored hotel for three days, even estended out stay as we enjoyed it so much. The breakfast is unbelieavle, the scrambled eggs were made to order, delicate and soft. Freshly squeezed jouces, müesli, delicate fruist salad etc are just some of the delicacies available.

Beim Frühjstück habe ich in Hotels schon viel erlebt. Im Hotel Zollhaus gibt es einssher gutes Frühstück. Sehr abwechslungsreich, Rührei wird frisch zubereitet. Hier blieb kein Wunsch offen. Alles in einem schönen Ambiente. Der Service ist sehr aufmerksam, schnell und freundlich. Und alles für 7,50 €.

Our accommodation did not provide breakfast, but a coupon for €10 breakfast at the Zollhaus (€15 w/o coupon). Extensive cold buffet (including best hot smoked salmon ever) plus eggs to order.
