Restaurant Yamass in Cuxhaven

Very clean and super polite staff. Always very happy again.

We went to yamass 6 weeks ago for the first time in 3 years. It started with the table reservation. I have reserved a table for the next day. I asked if dogs were allowed in the restaurant. That was answered in the negative. I asked if the dog was allowed into the beer garden, and he was allowed to do so. So I reserved a table for 4 people and specifically said that we had a dog with us in the beer garden. When we came the next day, I told the waitress that we had reserved a table in the beer garden. She looked in her book and said we had made reservations for inside. I said, no. I specifically said that we were coming with a dog. Then she went into the beer garden to see if there was anything available. There was a table free. We sat down. It took a whopping 20 minutes until her colleague came and asked if we wanted something to drink. After we finally had our drinks we headed to the buffet. The dishes were drowned in sauces. You could no longer tell what kind of meat it was. So three years ago the food was still great. But not anymore. That was the last time we were there. I will only visit the Greek at the ahoi bath.

The food was really tasty. We will come back again on our vacation.

Very nice team, buffet was really okay for the price. You should make a reservation, unfortunately we were billed incorrectly, we only noticed it when we got home, maybe it was due to the stress. The ambience is a bit outdated.

finally I don't believe it, a Greek buffet, a little dream that comes true😋 and in a rather small town. That was my thought at first. but... positive is the friendly and attentive one service to mention. The food was replenished quickly and plentifully. The selection is large and varied, the salad is fresh and tasty. The desserts and the ice cream are ready-made (which is understandable given the price). Unfortunately only 2 stars because we think the meat (possibly frozen food) is over-seasoned and the sauces are too creamy. The red rice was juicy but didn't taste good. The big disappointment was the mezaxa sauce (it was missing the fruity paprika pep). It's also bad that the fried crap (fries, spring rolls (weird with Greek), nuggets, nuggets and more nuggets are probably more for children). And even if it sounds arrogant, I make much better red rice, metaxa sauce, tzatziki, bifstekis and susukis. Nevertheless, the price-performance ratio is okay. and thanks for the ouzo on the house. continued success

I was hoping for more after the very good reviews here. I chose the turkey meat from the buffet, which unfortunately wasn't really tender, nor was the paprika schnitzel. There wasn't much choice for dessert. The sauces and side dishes were very tasty. Unfortunately, the crowd at the buffet didn't create a cozy atmosphere; it was more like an all-inclusive buffet on a summer vacation, where you're constantly pushed to the side. But the staff was very friendly!

Get a seat without a reservation. The buffet, as always, was hot and varied. Prices OK. Would love to come back. Unfortunately, parking spaces in Döse are a disaster:(

We ate from the buffet here, with a huge selection of Greek specialties from gyros and souflaki to tzatziki and coleslaw. Additionally there is something like pasta in tomato sauce etc. And what I had was very tasty. Plus a very fair price! Staff very friendly and quick to clear empty plates.

The food was very tasty, the staff and the boss were very friendly and attentive. Points deducted, it was sometimes very loud that you could hardly have a conversation. Definitely recommended, price/performance fits.

We had dinner at Yamass with 7 people two days ago. The food was very good... something for every taste. Even though it was very full, the food was replenished quickly. We are not regular customers...we spent a long weekend in Cuxhaven. Nevertheless, we noticed the friendliness/happiness of the staff and the boss. And because most people just complain and don't praise, I would like to say a big thank you to the entire staff...we'll be happy to come back next year :) and recommend 100%. Until then….🤗🤗

A fantastically good Greek restaurant,🇬🇷😌 The girls at the service do a great job of clearing up all the plates at the table at the buffet 😇👏 Everyone can only take a slice of who comes from the catering industry (come from the catering industry yourself) But keep your distance I have rarely eaten such a delicious Greek buffet. I'm getting hungry again when I think about it.😋We'll definitely be back as a big family of 9 people 🥰

Placed a large order relatively spontaneously over the phone to be picked up. When placing the order, the lady was very friendly and conscientious. It's a bit surprising that there was a recall, but at least it was ordered for €250. The preparation should take about 40 minutes. When I showed up at the restaurant to pick it up, I was also warmly welcomed by the same lady and my order had already been packed up and placed in an obvious place. In the restaurant there was another short, friendly small talk with the staff. I found the several drink bottles that were included to be very accommodating at this point. I said a friendly goodbye and regretted that I couldn't leave a tip for the previously good service since I was on a business trip. When we arrived at the accommodation, it was portioned out. The gyros went very well with the tzatziki and the fries on the side complemented the dish. It tasted very good and if you are in the area again, you will order again! Conclusion: friendly service, delicious gyros with tzatziki and all in all a good price-performance ratio, because the portions were decent considering the price.

Very tasty and extensive buffet

The food is OK. I've eaten much better Greek food. The lamb chops consisted of 80% fat. Souvlaki in contrast was very tasty. The rice and tzatziki were rather neutral in taste. Fries good. A positive highlight is the super nice team. The portions are very generous. You will definitely be full. The buffet has little to do with “Greece”. There's a little bit of everything. Everything from pasta with tomato sauce to fried squid rings is included. More for people without major culinary demands who just want to be full and want a bit of everything. We opted for food from the menu.

After making a telephone inquiry, the two of us ate at Yamazz. The restaurant was busy at 5:30 p.m. The reception as well as the subsequent service was friendly and quick. 1 meal a la carte, 1 buffet. Both were good and tasty, recommended. Surprisingly, we were not presented with an invoice; the amount to be paid was only stated verbally. So you should keep an eye on your consumption.

First day of vacation and a very tasty meal was served, plus a good conversation with the staff... I really enjoyed it there.

We like to eat Greek, but a Greek buffet was new to us - so we just tried it out without - to be honest - having too high expectations. What can you say... just crazy, amazing, great 🤩. Cozy atmosphere, nice, attentive and friendly staff, the food was very tasty, plenty of choice of meat, fish, side dishes, salad, plus a good selection of “sweets afterwards”. We have been coming there regularly for a year and have never regretted it or experienced fluctuations in quality and service or anything similar negative. Even when the store is packed, you won't be able to see the buffet empty because fresh food is refilled so quickly. Two things that "annoy" me: - I usually can't manage to squeeze in dessert because I'm so full (everything is so delicious) - You've been on vacation in Döse every year for 7 years and the Yamass was never on your radar, for whatever reason... You have to move here to discover such a great restaurant for yourself... what do we have missed all these years 😉

So we are so overwhelmed We went on a short vacation and when we arrived we were completely frustrated with our hotel room and in the evening we decided to go out for dinner two houses away and what can we say, super delicious, super friendly, especially for people with disabilities, our daughter was given such a warm welcome. And because it was so good, we had dinner here again the next day. A big thank you to the hospitable and tasty hospitality, we will come back to you in October 🤗

If I could, I would give zero stars for the food. It was bland, cold or lukewarm and carelessly provided. We won't be coming back, it was different last year. It's a shame, but there are plenty of others

First class in all of Cuxhaven. We've always been to the competition in Duhnen, but this one is worlds better, especially the buffet leaves nothing to be desired, there's even dessert and at a good price. Next time we're here we'll definitely come back!

The staff alone is worth a visit. This is where you really make friends. Funny, attentive, helpful. The food is also very tasty, the selection is large and everyone gets enough here. We'll definitely be back.

We took the buffet for 18.90 euros. It was very tasty, there was a lot to choose from. It was always freshly refilled. The staff was very friendly. I wouldn't recommend coming by car, as Original OUZO is always available for free. After the second one we politely declined 😅

What a great evening! My husband and I were late. It was already 8 p.m. and the buffet will be cleared away after 8:30 p.m. (We were very kindly informed of this at the beginning and also that it would not be refilled so as not to waste food. We think it's great!). It still had everything and the food was delicious. We also had a very nice and funny exchange with the owner family. If we are in the area again, we would be happy to stop by. Keep it up!

We drove an extra ~100km yesterday. I have to say every single kilometer was worth it. Very very tasty food. The staff is friendly and in a good mood. The tzatziki is really good. A heaven on earth. Best Greek food and that as a buffet. What more could you want? I would like to drive the route again. Small update after 2 years: The visit is still very worthwhile. The staff is super nice and friendly. The food continues to be a pleasure. Very varied. Another update in August 2024: Unfortunately, I can't understand the reviews that only gave one star. The food is super delicious. The quality hasn't deteriorated one bit after so many years. And I always find the old woman spoken of to be very nice. Just like you call into the forest...you know the saying. Today I discovered tomato soup. Wow really good. But it's a bit sharper. Perfect for me. P.s. I would even give 6 stars for the friendliness

Have never eaten so deliciously at a Greek restaurant. Great buffet with everything you can imagine. From salad to countless main courses to dessert with ice cream balls and cakes in super quality. Very friendly service in a nice atmosphere. Were there with 5 people and everyone was thrilled. Thank you very much for the lovely evening. We'll come back again.

First class restaurant! Everything is just right here - huge selection of different meat dishes, great service, cozy atmosphere and a really nice boss who really goes out of her way to look after each and every one of her guests! Definitely recommended! It's just a shame that some guests provoke stress, complain about an allegedly terrible boss, who simply politely asks for consideration and not to take dogs into the restaurant for hygiene reasons. I always enjoy coming here!!!!

100€ for the bin. It has nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with a Greek. Meat farts dry and there is an older blonde woman walking around, literally watching the guests and making a bad face. It's better to go somewhere else, your money will be better spent there...

Rarely have I experienced such an unfriendly boss. And the food is a 2 out of 10. As a German, I make the gyros at home myself. The service was nice and tried to make you feel comfortable. The boss was watching you the whole time. The food that remained was only half packed. But in the end it ended up in the bin anyway. Never again!!!

A very nice atmosphere for a Greek restaurant, with typical mirrors on the walls. The food was generous, fresh and typically tasty. A large buffet at a reasonable price around €18, the menu is also recommended. All in all, perfect.

Because we (family with 2 children) all loved it so much, we went there for two evenings during our Cuxhaven vacation. We took the buffet both times. The food is good. Some things are reserved for the a la carte but on the whole pretty much everything is typically Greek. The waitresses are very on the ball and constantly refill the buffet with fresh food. The staff was not only quick, but also very friendly. If we go to Cuxhaven again we will definitely eat at Yamass again!

We went there twice during our week in Cuxhaven. The all you can eat buffet is very popular and draws in lots of families. The variety is very good and tasty (especially the dessert) The staff are nice enough but also seemed very stressed. We ordered coffee twice the last evening we were there but never got any - still, I would go there again.

We are from Bavaria, were invited to a wedding in Cux, which we immediately did Used for a 3 day short trip. On the last day of your stay we went to Yamass, a Greek restaurant every evening also offers a buffet - and exactly We tried that too... We really enjoyed each other there feasted extensively, Everything was really delicious😋 and with under 20€ per person, is the buffet without drinks was also quite cheap. When we go again Come on, then we'll do it definitely another one Take a detour there😍 If you like Greek buffet, definitely for him HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

😀n’evening. Wow. I'm totally impressed... it was my first time at the Greek buffet and I was more than satisfied. Huge selection of everything! Nice staff, great atmosphere. To top it off, there was a nice boss(?) who still had a place left despite the house being full.

This was our third time at Yamass and, as always, we were thrilled and people recognized us, even though a lot of guests go there every day. The food is delicious, but unfortunately this time the liver was a bit dry.

We ordered something to eat there based on a recommendation and were simply disappointed. The fries only had a quick look in the deep fryer, then there was no salt on them and they just tasted sticky. The noodles also tasted like nothing and the sauce was sometimes extremely spicy. It was just under €50 for the bin. Unfortunately I can't say what the food from the buffet is like. Conclusion: Not recommended...

We were passing through Cuxhaven and just wanted to eat Greek. Then we found out that Buffett existed and were very excited. Friendly staff, very good food.

Maximum 3 stars, the food is nothing special. The liver was really inedible (a second person also tried it), it was hard and the liver crumbled when chewed. I mentioned this to the waitress, who simply said I was the first to say it. Champions in cream sauce or similar: very watery, country sauce and champions looked like they came from a can, chicken nuggets like frozen goods. Fries were always fresh and hot. It seemed to me as if the cook and the boss didn't try the food themselves. All in all, the spice and love for cooking is missing here. I won't come a second time.

The Yamass is in itself a beautiful and nice Greek restaurant! Here you can order dishes from the menu or from the buffet. This costs 18.90 euros for adults and 12.90 euros for children up to 12 years. The buffet is delicious, extensive and there is something for everyone. The service was also quick and good. Empty plates were quickly cleared away, and it was also quickly seen that we wanted to order something to drink or something. The only reason I'm deducting a star is the wine! The glass of red wine I was served was warm. Yes, red wine should be at room temperature, but that means 16 to 18 degrees and not the 23 degrees that it was in the restaurant. When I asked the waitress about it, she didn't understand my problem. I would be the first to complain about wine being too warm. What I don't believe! I was then only offered to bring a glass of white wine, which would be chilled. Therefore, if you like to drink a glass of red wine with your meal, you should leave it here. Otherwise the Yamass is worth a visit!

Wir sind wegen dem Buffet hingegangen. Bedienung war super freundlich besonders die türkische Bedienung und zuvorkommend und auch schnell beim teller abräumen. Essen war gut und reichlich Auswahl. Und lecker Ouzo gibt es auch.
