It was our first visit to Duhnen, and we were thrilled. The apartment was very nice, and we felt at home. The beach and the town center are within easy reach. The food and drinks were also good value for money. Our next vacation in Duhnen is already booked.

Whenever my husband and I spend our vacation in Cuxhaven, we go to the Poseidon restaurant at least once for dinner. The food is always very good and delicious, and the service is very friendly. We will continue this tradition. Previous review Update We also ate there in 2024. Everything was fine. A few days ago (Sept. 2025), we went there again. We had reserved a table and were greeted warmly by the owner (at least I think). Our order was taken, and our drinks and food were served at the usual time. The food was, as always, very delicious. It was a bit annoying that the older gentleman (the owner?) was constantly talking loudly and audibly to the regulars at the tables around us. At times, we had his backside too close to our table. I found it uncomfortable while eating. Nevertheless, I'm happy for the restaurant that it has regulars. We actually are, too. We only come by once a year at most, which understandably goes unnoticed. We wanted to pay and told a young waiter. No one came. We were a bit pressed for time; the landlady of our vacation apartment wanted to meet with us. The older gentleman was standing at the next table/one of his regulars. Unfortunately, we had to interrupt his conversation, but he was friendly. He then came over to us and was very curt and probably slightly annoyed. After paying, he turned around without a word and left. We left the restaurant with a bad feeling that we had done something wrong. Unfortunately, it's a long post, but it's necessary. Will we go again if they feel that vacationers aren't welcome? A trend that is on the rise. If you, dear restaurateurs, aren't happy that your restaurant is also frequented by vacationers like us, please let us know.

If you get a table then... It's unbelievable how many people want to eat there. A reservation is essential. However, if you manage to do so, you can look forward to a special evening with deliciously prepared dishes. The restaurant is very well organized, and the processes are well structured. The staff are very responsive. This seems to be the only way to handle the rush. It's amazing how they manage to deliver such quality despite the quantities. Everything was truly delicious. A visit is definitely worth it - guaranteed! We would like to thank the exceptionally friendly staff, who manage to keep track of everything despite the enormous volume. They even find time for a quick chat. Unbelievable and a truly memorable experience. Have you got some excellent Greek food and a lovely evening? Head to Poseidon!

Hello, I ate there today. I'm visiting from Bavaria. I'm disappointed with our Greek restaurants in Bavaria. It was delicious here, and I can go home happy with 😪 in my eyes. Simply fantastic.

In summary: Poseidon is always the right place, whether you prefer typical grilled dishes or less well-known Greek cuisine. In detail: we once again trusted the reviews on this platform and were not disappointed. We made a reservation by phone the day before. While the restaurant has plenty of space, it was very busy. We had already looked at the menu on the restaurant's website. Since it's quite extensive, that wasn't the worst idea. We opted for an appetizer (14) and the main courses (44 & 84), all very tasty, cooked to perfection, and very deliciously prepared. After a welcoming ouzo, we even had a farewell ouzo. We owe this to the well-behaved companion under the table, as even our little dog was welcome here.

A restaurant where everything is simply in harmony. The food, the service, and the ambiance leave nothing to be desired. Here, every guest is welcomed and served with open, genuine warmth, and at reasonable prices. For my wife and me, the "POSEIDON" restaurant is our favorite in Cuxhaven when it comes to good food in a cozy atmosphere.

Yes, very much so. Great and friendly service; upon request, the chef served us a special wine that wasn't even on the menu. Cozy and lovely ambiance. Excellent price-to-food ratio. The only downside was that the noise level was quite loud, which might be due to its size. The food arrived very quickly and was truly delicious. The prices are completely reasonable. And another Greek check. As always, eating out is a matter of taste! Yes, the salad we had was a bit lackluster. But the food was definitely very good. Very friendly and open to extras. Normal wait time (despite the place being full). Unfortunately, only 4 stars because of the salad. It's a shame.

We come to Cuxhaven 2-3 times a year, and a visit to Poseidon is always a regular occurrence for us, one we look forward to. Whether for a quick lunch or a relaxed dinner, you always receive a warm welcome and immediately feel at home thanks to the friendly staff. We've been going to Cux for vacation for 12 years... we had our first meal there on Monday and really regret not having eaten there sooner.... It was soooo delicious! Very friendly and child-friendly staff! Great! We felt very comfortable! Definitely a MUST on our next vacation!

A long-established Greek restaurant, centrally located and with several free parking spaces. We've been there many times, and today we stopped by for lunch. We had the platter with Suzuki, liver, gyros, fries, and tzatziki. We swapped the liver for another Suzuki, which was no problem. We left out the onions. At lunch, you can choose between a salad or soup to start with. The service is friendly, the food is delicious and perfectly seasoned. And you get a glass of ouzo on the house.

We stopped by after bowling without a reservation. We were immediately assigned a great seat. The staff was very friendly, and the food we ordered was absolutely delicious. I had a grilled meat, and the meat was cooked to perfection and seasoned really well. My family was also very satisfied. We'll be happy to come back next time. Thank you.

While on vacation, we were looking for a restaurant relatively late. We ended up at the Poseidon. Most restaurants in that town close around 9 p.m. Apparently not there – we received a very friendly welcome. We ordered quickly and received our food quickly, too. The food was delicious, as were the drinks. I highly recommend it. The only thing that bothered us a little was the noise. Keep up the good work.

We just had the lunch time Special, three different meals, absolute delicious, great service, wonderful atmosphere.

During a short trip to northern Germany, we decided on a whim to visit Cuxhaven, the border of the North Sea and the Elbe River, and arrived at Poseidon without a reservation. All tables were occupied, but the very friendly staff offered us a seat at a table for two that apparently wasn't normally used. The food was truly excellent, and so were the wines – it was a perfect end to our wonderful trip to northern Germany. Thank you so much! If we ever visit Cuxhaven again, we'll definitely come back!

We happened to stumble upon dinner here on Sunday evening. From the extensive menu, we chose the special gyro, the Larissa platter, and tzatziki. Everything was exceptionally delicious. You could taste every single ingredient in the baked gyro. The entire service was very friendly and attentive without being intrusive. ❤️Thanks again. The fairly large restaurant was very busy for a Sunday evening, so reservations are recommended.

A must when I'm back in Cuxhaven!

The food was ok. Unfortunately without any whistle. For example, spices other than salt would be great. Overall, I found it quite uncomfortable in the dining room because of the hectic pace. The waiters were friendly but also very hectic.

The best Greek in town. Everything is really right here. Friendly, attentive staff, special requests are always taken into account. Children are also welcome. You can't go wrong here with takeaway either! Hopefully it will continue like this for a long time!

Leider können wir nur drei Sterne geben . Das Gyros war leider fettig und die Pommes sind auch wirklich nicht gut. Die gehören kross und nicht weich und blass . Vielleicht mal die Sorte wechseln die sind wirklich nicht gut . Ansonsten ein schönes Lokal.

I went to this restaurant for the first time on the recommendation of a family friend. And I have no regrets. It started with the very friendly reception at the entrance door and the allocation of seats. Even though I came alone and without a reservation right at lunchtime, I was assigned a nice seat. I was very impressed by the politeness/friendliness throughout my stay, especially since it was packed. I ate the "chicken breast fillet", which I really enjoyed. It was noticeable here that quality was paid attention to. I'll probably have to come back one or two times 😉. The photo is from February 28, 2025.
