This Indian restaurant has always been a real highlight for us. The taste is top-notch and the quality is excellent. Unfortunately, this has declined considerably. The dishes seem less carefully prepared, and the taste is no longer convincing. The service is still very good. This may be due to the very high occupancy, as it has now become impossible to reserve a table on several occasions. It's a real shame, because the quality used to be much better.

The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Even babies are welcome here 🤗 No one will go hungry.

The restaurant was quite full when we arrived on Thursday evening. We were given a table without a reservation. The service was warm and friendly... the food was plentiful (too much) and delicious... some background music would have been a nice touch. But the food was delicious!

Yes, absolutely. It's the only restaurant in Bernkastel where vegans can also get something to eat. Very friendly and competent staff.

The look of the restaurant and a few of the reviews here convinced us to eat here. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. We go to a lot of Indian restaurants, but we've never had such a non-Indian meal. It looked like Indian food, but it simply tasted of nothing. No spice, no substance, just bland. We've never had Indian food that required adding salt and pepper afterward. Maybe we've eaten in too many Indian restaurants around the world. The service was very friendly and nice. The restaurant was busy, but it's not for us. It's a shame, really.

The food was very tasty. The atmosphere was a bit old-fashioned. The service seemed a bit overwhelmed but tried hard. Portions were unusually small (due to the new owner?), but enough rice and bread were supplied. Definitely recommended

The food at the Taj Mahal has been known to us since the 1990s and is of consistently very good quality! The service is excellent and very nice! The food, whether with meat or vegetarian, is simply great! We always like to come back!

As a curry lover from the UK was looking forwards to experiencing what a German version would be like. Recent (5 years old) reviews were promising. The decor is very dated, but maybe authentic? The food was very poor. I didn't think it was possible to have a bad curry, but I was wrong. We ordered veg pakoras and bhaji to start. The pakoras still has a layer of uncooked flour under the deep fried outer. The bhaji were like onion rings from a fast food outlet. Main courses were a little better, but somehow off in taste. Maybe a regional difference? This restaurant is award winning apparently, as the only show in town most likely.

But if you’ve actually traveled and possess functioning taste buds, avoid this spot like a bad Tinder date. The naan? Thicker than the average American at an all-you-can-eat buffet. The butter chicken? Just *ok*—and that’s being generous. As someone who’s sampled Indian cuisine in over 20 countries, I can confidently say this was the most disappointing attempt at Indian food I’ve ever encountered. Save your euros and your dignity.

The chicken from the Tandori was so tender and casual. The waiter very attentive. A greeting from the kitchen was served as a starter. Gladly again....😁 I'm here every now and then Today the chicken curry mango. In addition, an ingenious rice and a home-baked fluffy bread As a starter, a crispy fried chip served with 3 dips (yoghurt - herbs, apricot? and of course an original Indian dip). Chapeau...

We had on December 31st. 2024 a table was served at 5:30 p.m. It was uncomfortably cool in the front part of the restaurant because the door kept being opened and the radiators at the front were only lukewarm. The garlic nanobread had a strong garlic flavor that was too dominant and my husband's dish was served medium warm. We've eaten here before and everything was great. It seemed as if the kitchen was overwhelmed by the large number of orders.

Addendum from December 31, 2024: It seemed as if the kitchen was a bit overwhelmed on New Year's Eve. Everything just tasted ok and not like wow. Oh well. Wow. I love this restaurant. Starting with the very friendly service and I think the boss, it continues with the loving and appropriate interior design. Then a nice greeting came straight from the kitchen. Lentil chips with three types of dip. Delicious. The main courses were also convincing. You are asked about the level of spiciness and it was exactly what you wanted. Highly recommended.

A bit old, sometimes uncomfortable atmosphere when you have to sit at a table in the middle of the aisle. Service was good, the food wasn't particularly great. Prices were very cheap (on average 15€).

I was so lucky that this restaurant was next to my hotel. After I saw their lunch menu, I decided to have lunch there before embarking on my ship. The food was very tasty and authentic, as entree they served papadam and sauces. The Lamb dish with spinach was huge and I tasted the Indian Pakistani spices very clearly. On the side they served naan next to delicious Basmati rice. The waiter was super friendly, as I couldn't finish the dishes he packed it neatly(no doggie bag). The next day I had a good Indian meal heated and the next morning heated naan with butter and cheese. 3 meals for a sensational price!!! The restaurant itself had great vibes and I hope they will have outdoor seating in the future

Nice experience in Bernkastel-Kues. We enjoyed delicious food here and the service was attentive, friendly and always on hand. When we're back there, we'll be happy to come again.

Wir waren vom Essen und der Freundlichkeit der Mitarbeiter sehr begeistert. Geschmacklich fanden wir die scharfen Varianten für uns perfekt. Das Lamm war ausgezeichnet und der Gruß aus der Küche war perfekt als Einstieg. Das Naan Brot haben wir selten besser gegessen. An der Einrichtung könnten man noch arbeiten.

I love this Indian restaurant. I don't know of anyone else who offers such a great price-performance ratio for lunch. Even slight extra requests can be fulfilled at no extra charge. Totally friendly and accommodating. Plus it tastes fantastic. Even after five years nothing has changed for the better. The actual owner has handed over to a successor for reasons of age. CONGRATULATIONS, successful. Food great as always, service totally polite and attentive. You have to visit it

Wir waren in der Woche dort, zur klassischen Abendessenszeit. Das Restaurant war gut besucht, es waren jedoch noch Tische frei. Das Ambiente ist eher orientalisch mit deutscher Gutbürgerlichkeit. Wir haben es als „altbacken“ und wenig gemütlich empfunden. Der Service war sehr gut. Die Kellner waren freundlich und zuvorkommend. Bei der Bestellung erklärte man uns die einzelnen Gerichte und fragte ab, ob man das Gericht gerne in mild mittelscharf oder indisch scharf haben möchte. Wir bestellten ein mildes Lammgericht, sowie ein vegetarisches indisch scharfes Gemüsegericht. Wir bekamen einen Gruß des Hauses mit drei verschiedenen Tipps und Linsen Brot, was alles sehr lecker war. Das Lammgericht schmeckte gut, brachte in der milden Variante jedoch keine Geschmacksexplosion hervor. Außerdem war das Fleisch sehr fest. Das indisch scharfe Gericht empfand ich als perfekt im Schärfegrad. Ansonsten hat es gut geschmeckt, ich hatte jedoch etwas mehr an indischem Geschmack erwartet. Das Gemüse war jedenfalls kein frisches Gemüse, sondern Tiefkühlware. Schade, hier hätte man etwas mehr rausholen können. Das zu den Hauptgerichten gereichte Naanbrot war sehr köstlich. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis hat gepasst. Ich vergebe nur drei Punkte, da vier Punkte „sehr gut“ bedeuten und ich dieses nicht behaupten kann. Es hat gut geschmeckt, wir haben jedoch schon besser indisch gegessen. Gezielt werden wir wohl nicht mehr hierher fahren.

Great good food, and very hospitable. This restaurant is really worth a visit. I was amazed by the flavors of the dishes. The atmosphere/decor wasn't that great, but the food makes up for it. 👌 I charge the 30-40 euros, including drinks. We spent around €65 for the entire meal.

Went here for the second time today. The staff is really friendly and the food is delicious. We made a reservation because of the weather and it was easy to get one over the phone. I had the chicken Mango curry and we also tried the cheese Naan. 5 stars. I really enjoyed my food and I will be back again.

Delicious Indian food in an old German taproom. The restaurant cannot deny its origins - but a bit of Indian flair was conjured up into the rooms with some decor and color. The selection of food is completely fine - we were served promptly and very friendly. The food (including the starter) was on point, neither over-seasoned nor too spicy. So no one needs to be afraid of not being able to eat the food because of the proverbial Indian spiciness. We were very satisfied and got up full.

Very nice service, wonderful food, also gluten-free. Every meal comes with a free, delicious starter and rice and bread are always served free of charge. I've been going there for many years and have never been disappointed.
