If you eat there, please be careful, you will almost certainly get ripped off like I did; they overcharge you and don't treat you well.

I recently visited this Turkish restaurant and was absolutely delighted. The food was fresh, flavorful, and authentic – especially the grilled dishes and the mezze, which were perfectly seasoned and beautifully presented. The bread was still warm and simply delicious. The service was very friendly and attentive without being intrusive. You immediately feel welcome, almost like visiting friends. The ambiance is also cozy and inviting, encouraging you to linger. The value for money is excellent. I will definitely be back and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys Turkish cuisine or wants to try it.

Upon entering the restaurant, there was no greeting whatsoever, which immediately created an unfriendly and unprofessional impression. The service seemed not only inexperienced but also irritable, making the entire visit even more unpleasant. The food was a disappointment: the meat was tough, and the side dishes and salad were far too meager and of inferior quality. The salad disappeared in seconds, and the side dishes had hardly any flavor, simply like cheap yogurt. Furthermore, no tea was served after the meal, which is standard practice in good restaurants. There was also no farewell upon leaving, which completed the unprofessional impression. Overall, this visit was a disaster, and I have had far better experiences in many restaurants. This quality and service are exceptionally poor, and improvements are urgently needed. In addition, they are extremely stingy with everything. Ketchup and mayonnaise are only available in tiny containers, and even for these, you have to call a server to get anything to your table. Such behavior is absolutely unwelcoming and contributes to the overall negative impression. What was particularly irritating was that card payment was initially refused, even though it was suddenly possible later. There was no clear, transparent communication about this. This leaves a very poor and unprofessional impression.

I was there on biathlon day, and the restaurant was very busy. The very attentive staff quickly found us a table for two, which was also cleaned immediately. I had a delicious, generous, and hot köfte plate with an appetizer. It was a wonderful and very tasty experience, and I'd gladly go back anytime 🥰. My wife is already a regular customer 😂

After we had eaten and drunk, and asked for a cappuccino, the manager informed us that we weren't in a restaurant where you could linger for three hours, but rather that it was a place to "eat and drink quickly and then leave." Outrageous! We should have read all the negative reviews beforehand. McDonald's has more class.

Hygiene was very good and the food was super delicious. For me, the best kebab. The only drawback: Not customer-friendly! Card payments not accepted. I wanted to order and then walk the three minutes to the bank and withdraw money while the food was being prepared. My order was rejected because orders are not accepted without money. It would have been possible to accept the order but wait to prepare it, if you've had bad experiences in the past. But at least give the customer the feeling of not being turned away.

One of my favorite restaurants in Gelsenkirchen for Turkish dishes. We always make the long journey from central Gelsenkirchen to the north for a delicious meal. Thank you for the service.

I was shocked because I used to enjoy eating here. We were seated very quickly, which wasn't a problem. We each ordered a doner kebab plate. They were only serving veal at the time. We didn't have to wait long for the food, but it was only lukewarm, if anything! The salad, especially the cucumbers and sweetcorn, looked old and out of date. Even if the meat tasted good, the fun quickly disappears when you get a cold dish. The high price is not justified. Two small doner kebab plates and two soft drinks cost over €30. I'm really disappointed. For that price, you'd expect hot food!

Weren’t expecting to be served warm bread and cream cheese products before our meal. The second time we visited during our short stay in the city we didn’t nearly receive as much. The meat could have been a bit more spiced but the rest of the group were satisfied. The portions were good sized.

The best kebab around, not like most rotisserie kebabs with greasy gristle where you can't eat half because it tastes like chewing gum, but tastier and with real kebab meat instead of mechanically separated meat from a rotisserie!! Thank goodness Imam*glu is no longer at the kebab counter, since then my meat portion has been reasonable again!! My bread was filled like a child's kebab, no fun... see picture haha. I was a real cheapskate, I was almost shaking while portioning it out.

Yesterday, August 3, 2025, when I bought a doner kebab around 7 p.m., I got the worst food poisoning of my life after three hours. An employee had cleaned the counter with the same rag he uses to clean the tables.

If you like Turkish food, this is the place for you. The grilled dishes are excellent and filling. Unfortunately, the service isn't very attentive; it feels more like a snack bar than a restaurant. It's always been busy.

I didn't even say I was finished eating, and the employee cleared away my half-empty plate and half-empty drink. Outrageous!

We went to this restaurant with the whole family (11 people in total) – unfortunately, it was a complete disappointment. The prices were absolutely exorbitant for what was offered. The meat didn't taste fresh, and the food overall was disappointing and not at all tasty. The service also left a lot to be desired: The waitresses were unfriendly, and we didn't feel welcome. This was definitely our first and last visit – we were completely dissatisfied.

We didn't want the ketchup separately, but simply in a separate bowl next to the fries. Despite this, we were told it would cost extra. Furthermore, the meat was very tasteless—you couldn't tell what kind of meat it was. The restaurant smelled strongly of old grease, and the odor lingered on our clothes as we left. They probably used old oil. The prices are also very high—we paid €28 for a kebab, fries, and a Coke. I'll never come back here. Absolutely not recommended.

My family and I really can't recommend this place. Aside from the appetizer (kelle paça), the food was poor and tasteless. It's very loud in the place; you can hardly hold a conversation. The service... let's just say... friendliness has a name, and theirs isn't it. It was our first and last time there, but we didn't feel welcome anyway, since my wife and her children are German.

We had dinner there yesterday. We ordered chicken skewers. I don't know when this meat was from. It smelled and had an aftertaste. We have been going there for over 20 years, but the quality has deteriorated extremely. Service is top!!!

We ate there earlier, and as soon as it was cleared away, the next guests were brought to the table and then stood at the table to sit down. When I went to pay (I wanted to pay beforehand), I wasn't even finished with my drink and I wanted to eat or drink dessert and a drink there. By that time, my husband and son were already up and ready to go because the others were standing at the table and waiting. My husband held out my jacket for me to put on and the following guests were about to take their seats! Had to leave without eating dessert. The motto is definitely: eat and go quickly and not a nice meal in peace. Thank you for the “nice evening!”

Hi, I would say that I've eaten in many places but none like this (in a negative way). The meat was too hard, in good German terms, and the Iskender wasn't very tasty because a lot of things went wrong during the preparation. No hygiene rules were observed, and there were no starters such as bread because we were lied to that there weren't any, but 2 minutes later the supposed starter that "wasn't there" was on the table with others. The service wasn't particularly good either, as we had to ask for the menu. Conclusion: the 4.8 stars are completely out of the "ASS" and I would give a maximum of 1.5 stars because I was actually in a good mood (before eating). because the cola was the highlight.

Came here for a celebratory dinner, and was very happy with the results. The food was delicious, the service prompt and attentive, and the portion sizes were generous. While I am a fan of the casual Dönner places, Sultan Saray is a step up in quality. Highly recommend trying one of their excellent starters, as those are always tasty and a good way to start the meal. Will be returning for sure.

I ate at this place as did my family 2 days later. Pure disaster, we were offered expired soup and it was even served! I had a Dürüm and it came out of my stomach (broken) just as quickly as it was eaten. This store should be closed, pure catastrophe, as well as service and all the trimmings. If you are interested in vomiting the food you eat the same evening, then you have come to the right place at Sultan Saray Gelsenkirchen Buer.

My husband's food came after 20 minutes, then "my" dish came, which wasn't mine but belonged to a lady who came a while after us. All well and good, my husband's plate is empty and my food is still not there. Unfortunately, the mood goes down and such a mistake unfortunately results in negative reviews. Then 30 minutes later the staff informed me that the food still hadn't come, the man had finished eating and I had to be patient. Don't be patient if you soon have to wait 1.5 hours your appetite will go away

But the real reason why I was dissatisfied was because of a sullen, brunette waitress with the wrong style. While taking our order. "I said I want a Coke Zero." - He asked again, "Coke or Zero?" he said. Please warn your employee (other employees were definitely friendly) if he doesn't like this job, he shouldn't do it. We don't have to live these ridiculous dialogues. After all, we come there to have a good time with our money.

Everything used to be much better at Sultan Saray and tasted better too. Doner kebab was dried out. Bread wasn't fresh. The Iskender sauce was sour and not tasty either. We ordered small, but paid large, so be careful at the checkout. The only thing I liked there was the yogurt and fries. Unfortunately I have a stomach ache today. I won't eat there anymore.
