Nice outdoor seating. Very friendly and attentive service. I had a salad plate with falafel balls. It was one of the best tasting salads I've had in a while!

The roast beef in red wine sauce and the salad were excellent, even though we arrived only 15 minutes before the kitchen closed. Professional chefs clearly work here, and the elegant waiter with a distinct accent was extremely friendly and attentive. The prices are fair...

Very poor staff. We didn't receive any cutlery. When we asked for it, it took a good fifteen minutes before we got it. Meanwhile, our food was getting cold. We also ordered a small salad that never arrived. We asked for it several times. Not all the food was equally delicious. When we wanted salt and pepper, they didn't offer it either. Finally, we had to search for it ourselves in the restaurant and finally found it. Even when we wanted to pay, there was no staff around to take the bill. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.

We thought we'd go to a restaurant instead of the snack bar next door today, and we were disappointed. The food could have used more seasoning; everything tasted very "standard." The waitress actually asked my wife after she placed her order if it wasn't "too much" 😠 (a chicken curry and a salad bowl). Furthermore, while we were eating, someone took away a chair at our table for someone else without asking, without a word. We won't be coming here again; they treat us condescendingly. Apparently, we weren't sophisticated enough for this place. We hadn't even finished our drinks before the table was quickly cleared away. We felt unwelcome.

Never had such a bad meal The chef should be locked up for this! Even the fries weren't edible. Cold and soggy, let alone the roast beef. The leather would probably have been more tender.

We loved everything, from the restaurant to the service. The food is excellent. We'd love to come back.

Warning about this restaurant: Attention, women: Do not enter this restaurant alone under any circumstances!!! You may be groped by the waiters!!!! I have never experienced such poor service. First, dirty glasses were brought for water. After we complained, we had to ask for new glasses three times. After a long wait with no waiter in sight, we asked for the bill. When we asked for the bill again, he shook his head and told us it wasn't possible, instead of informing the responsible colleague. The last straw, however, was that one of the waiters intentionally grabbed my chest.

We were there for the first time today and were pleasantly surprised. The staff was friendly, courteous, and brought our orders quickly. The food was good and the value for money was absolutely reasonable. The ambiance in the garden is very nice.

We arrived at 4:30 p.m. and were still able to order food. The fried escalope was generous but very salty. And the prices were very steep too. The server spoke English, so it was easier to communicate. The coffee was unsweetened, too bad.

We were there yesterday. We had two non-alcoholic wheat beers from a brewery in Grafenhausen and two fries. The price/performance ratio was okay. The waiter, A. Pini, was very friendly and on the ball.

The restaurant is nicely decorated, but unfortunately, the service leaves a lot to be desired. We only had a drink, and the waiter said three times he'd be right back (it wasn't busy). I think it was more because he just wasn't in the mood. Eventually, we finally had something to drink and ordered the bill (€14.90), which arrived a bit faster. We tried to pay by card, but were told that this was only possible with a minimum of €20.

The meatballs were tasteless, and there was hardly any meat—just gristle. The food resembled something from the lowest drawer of ready meals, despite being of convenience restaurant standard. The service was disorganized: a long wait for the waiter, lack of attention from the staff and incorrect answers to simple questions. The situation with the seating was especially inconvenient - it was hot outside, the sun was shining directly on the table. We politely asked to lower the awning (which is controlled by one button), but were told that the staff "did not have time" to do this. This approach to the comfort of guests is unacceptable. Despite the fact that the dishes were really tasty, one of the orders was simply forgotten. Considering the time already spent, we did not wait for it again. I repeat: the cuisine is decent, but the general feeling of a lack of professionalism on the part of the service staff, unfortunately, crossed out the positive aspects. Considering the price level, expectations for the quality of service were much higher. At the moment, I cannot recommend this establishment for visiting.

The food was good and arrived quickly. The non-alcoholic summer cocktail was fantastic. The salad dressing was delicious. The waitress (an older gentleman) was super friendly! One star deducted because there are no coasters.

I wanted to make a reservation at the restaurant on the island because it's my wedding anniversary! It only works if there are at least 15 people? But if two people want to eat, will they be turned away too, since there are still 13 missing?

05/25/16 The only table-service restaurant on Mainau with a disappointing selection, no fish! On Lake Constance! No placemats, Viking feeling? You just hope the rag was clean. The staff was very friendly. Unfortunately, the food quality can't keep up with the garden. It's a shame! The selection in the souvenir shops is also the same. The castle shop is the same old, same old thing as 10 years ago—copy the English, why isn't there a Mainau line? High-quality souvenirs, the best are the hats, keyword: good museum shops. Next time we want to eat fish and buy nice souvenirs. Thanks!

The food is purely fast-food, with little attention to detail. The meatballs are like you'd find at IKEA, and the "spicy chickpea curry" is a tasteless frozen vegetable dish with rice that requires a little salt. Service is friendly and quick.

We received a very friendly welcome and were allowed to choose the place ourselves. It was 1130 a.m. and the weather was beautiful. The service was always very friendly and attentive to all guests. A short time later, the whole Swedish tavern outside was full. We had a great fresh mixed salad. Then roast beef in a beer sauce with spaetzle and fine vegetables. Everything was very delicately cooked and beautifully presented. We would love to come here again when we visit the island of Mainau again. Our first address is near the ship stop.

In general i did not expect a restaurant inside a large park to maintain such quality . Have tried an indian dish and a barley risoto both were having good flavours . The desert with mango and coconut flakes was reminding me a tropical delight . Fruits used were of good quality and not the hybrid ones.

+ The food is great. + Service time is quick (from order to serving). --- The biggest issue is there is huge chaos around getting a table. There is no "waiting list" and every customer is in charge of finding a table. This causes people to "cover lookup areas" and jump on a table as soon as they ask for the check. Definitely not fun. I would recommend to bring you lunch or have one after 14:30.

On Easter Saturday, 10 minutes before the end, I was served with great warmth and friendliness by waiter Franz from the Czech Republic. Thanks Franz! Another waiter hardly wanted to serve us at this time. Thank you for your open, friendly approach to our son with trisomy 21. We really enjoyed the delicious cakes. The pieces were very large. The women's toilets were extremely clean. We would love to come and eat on another visit. It has great vegetarian and vegan options on the menu.

The prices are way too expensive and the quality of the food was poor.

Unfortunately, the fries were very salty and the breading on the Wiener Schnitzel was completely flattened. Unfortunately too expensive for that... Service was very friendly and we received a coffee as compensation.

Food and service okay, very nice ambience

I have never eaten so miserably out with company. The soup was just the best. The potato salad was sour but I ate it anyway. The so-called Maultaschen (maul pockets) were indefinable, what kind of bland stuff was in the dough. The bigger part went back and in the strange crumble apple cake or what it should have been. I had sour apple coffee on the way there in Winterthur.

Sorry, the price-performance ratio isn't right! The portions could be on a children's plate, for example (pike-perch fillet). Unfortunately, the only thing that's large is the price! We paid over €90 for the meal for three people, and when we left a €4 tip, we realized that the waiter didn't think it was enough; he didn't even bother to thank us!

The quality of the food leaves much to be desired and doesn't match the standards of Mainau. It's better to bring a snack... It seems grotesque that the waiters in suits serve tasteless food (the pumpkin soup is inedible).

We were there on a Wednesday evening in November. When we walked in shortly after 8 p.m., we barely managed to get something to eat. The waiter, an older man with gray hair, demanded to know what we wanted after just a minute and practically ripped the menus out of our hands. After our meal, we wanted to have the leftovers packed up, which, according to the waiter, is only possible if you rent a box for a €5 deposit. This is very inconvenient for guests from further away. After our meal, the plates were immediately cleared away, even though not everyone at our table had finished. Overall, we felt unwelcome and like we were being watched by this waiter. The food was delicious, though.

We've never experienced anything like this before and asked for a table for 4 people. The waiter (a gentleman with a bald head) said that there was only one available for 6 people (but there were only 2 people at many tables of 4). A group of 6 came in behind us, they were immediately given priority and we were turned away even though we were first. Really gross and just a mess. If you only look at profit, then it works. what wrong. Kind regards to the waiter, but he should be aware that reviews = customer satisfaction sometimes bring in more money in the end than two more people at a table.

Enjoyed our visit to this classic restaurant. Big highlight for me was the excellent baby changing facilities! If only every restaurant had a room this large and equipped.

Bread old, dry and tough. Pumpkin soup tasteless. Service says the bread is like that “because you don’t use any chemicals for the bread”. 😅 almost amusing again

We (9 people) received a very nice welcome. The service was extremely friendly and attentive. The portion size was more than okay and the price was also okay. Everyone was full and satisfied while eating. Gladly again. Taking the leftover food with you is difficult because there are only deposit containers for it. Nothing is wrapped in cling film. We were advised that otherwise it would only work with a napkin. We found that a bit of a shame.

We sat for about 10 minutes and were not served. Waitresses and waiters walked past several times.

Service was nice but slow. Food is way too expensive for the quality. I can get a better curry at any Asian snack bar for half the price. Declared lemonade is simply Sprite. Food arrived very late. The people at the next table wanted to take leftover food with them and would have had to pay 5 euros for a Tupperware.

The fries for the children were the last to arrive at the table. An absolute “no go” for me. For leftover food that you want to take with you, they only have reusable dishes with a deposit. You said it was a Germany-wide deposit system. I still didn't find it very customer-oriented. All in all, we were satisfied with the food, but customer-oriented service to guests is different.

Hand in hand with professional staff

At first it looked like we wouldn't get a seat as it was very crowded outside. But if you walk all the way inside, you will still find free tables and it was very cozy there. The food came very quickly for this crowd (15-20 minutes) and tasted very good. We were satisfied!

Pleasant tourist restaurant. In heavily touristy places the restaurants are usually of low quality, but not this one. It is large, but has sufficient and, above all, good and friendly staff. The food selection is wide-ranging and we enjoyed it. Prices are appropriate for the location. It's a good place to go if you're on the island of Mainau.

A very nice stay for coffee. The cake (raspberry magic and Black Forest cherry) was very tasty and recommended. The rose cocktail is an absolute hit in the warmth. But what is particularly worth mentioning is that the staff worked absolutely perfectly. A big praise. The restaurant was packed. During the time we were there there was a constant change at the tables. And yet everything went smoothly and worked and the staff smiled. Rare these days... Please keep it up. We really liked it.👍👍👍

Very tasty food that was ready very quickly despite the expected large crowds. Very friendly and courteous staff who distract and keep the little guests busy with various little things. This means that parents and all other guests have a pleasant and relaxed stay. High praise, I have rarely experienced something like this. Thank you. We would like to come again.

Unfortunately I can't say anything about the food or the ambience. At 5:50 p.m. I sat down at a free table to have something to drink. After 2 minutes, the conditions were very unfriendly and I said, “We’re calling it a day!” Official opening hours are until 6:30 p.m. and there was still one table that was occupied. You could also have asked if I just wanted something to drink. It takes less than 40 minutes for a glass of water, cola or coffee when you visit a flower island. Very bad service I won't see this restaurant a second time!

Food was ok, my roast beef was a bit dry. The main course came quite shortly after the salad, so you didn't have time to finish it in peace. You also had to look for the sauce with a magnifying glass. And the fact that the June monthly menu, large on the menu, is not available in June is quite weak. More would be possible.

Never again Schwedenschenke on the island. After sitting at a table outside for 10 minutes and looking at the menu, a waitress (older man) yelled at us in a brisk tone that there was no waitress here. At the same moment he slams a piece of paper on the table. Reserved. He turns around and does the same to many other tables outside. No explanation, nothing. Even when asked again at a later moment, he simply moves on, shaking his head and waving his hand. I've never seen anything so outrageous in a restaurant. This person simply doesn't belong in the service.

Service was very bad or annoying...after we and many other guests sat at the table for a long time without being served, a waiter put a reservation sign on the table and said in a very unfriendly tone "there is no service here" and chased everyone away Guests from their seats. I've been going to this place for decades, but after this incident I'll never come back... apparently the restaurant is doing too well...

I only give the star because we found the Schwedenschenke. After we had found a place, an employee came 5 minutes later and put a reserved card on each table with the unfriendly words "No service". It wasn't the only table that felt this way. It was just regular lunchtime. If the rush of guests cannot be managed, perhaps the outdoor area should be equipped with fewer tables.

Waiting time is probably programmed here. Wiener Schnitzel, Seibling and perch very good. Service very friendly and quick.

The ambience is a little run down and is reminiscent of leftovers from the 70s. Food is very overpriced but tastes good. The staff very friendly. Toilets are reminiscent of an old swimming pool.

The food was great, the service was great even though it was busy, but something still needs to be done about tips. We rounded up the amount from 164 euros to 170 euros. That's not the problem, but when the waiter automatically adds another 5%, I really think it is Impudence, I think tipping is an acknowledgment of whether the service was good and shouldn't be taken for granted, hence only 3 stars

Service was simply subpar. No hello, no thank you, no goodbye.

We were shocked by the price-performance ratio. We had the Wiener Schnitzel with fries three times and the char with vegetables and potatoes once for €28.90 each. The schnitzel was more like a shoe sole and the portions weren't nearly worthy of the price. I was still hungry after my fish. The fish dish was ok, but really not amazing. So really very disappointing. We ordered two small salads, which were also hardly seasoned. The drinks were probably diluted with water because they not only looked that way but also tasted that way. I'm happy to pay a little more when I go out to eat, but then it has to be worth the money. Am very disappointed. The service was very nice, but unfortunately that was it. We won't eat there again when we visit the island again.
