The downside is the incorrect billing. First, the wrong drink was brought to the table, which unfortunately ended up on the final bill. The same thing happened at the next table with people we didn't know.

A waiter demanded 20 euros that were not on the receipt, saying that otherwise he would not be able to feed his family.

I've been to Bürgerstuben several times before. This time, I went twice within three days. The first meal, a burger, was okay. It tasted good. The second meal, the pan-fried dish, was the worst thing I've had in a restaurant in years. There was way too much pepper on everything, it was all dripping with oil, and it was very greasy. The pieces of meat were more fat than meat. I only ate a small portion and unfortunately had to send the rest back. The waitress didn't understand me. A further German course would probably be helpful. However, all the staff were friendly. Despite there being few customers, it took over 30 minutes for the food to arrive. After this experience, we probably won't be eating here again for a while. What a shame.

The food was excellent, but the service was terrible. When we arrived, we were initially directed to the back room. Unfortunately, it was very noisy there because several groups were already seated. So we moved to the front, almost directly in front of the kitchen. It was much more comfortable there. Unfortunately, it wasn't possible to order a bottle of wine that was available by the glass (apparently, that wasn't how it was offered). We didn't really understand this, but fine, we just ordered a 0.5-liter carafe. For our main course, we ordered soup and goose leg. Unfortunately, the main course arrived while we were still eating our soup. We said we'd like to finish our soup first, but they didn't take kindly to that. The service and kitchen staff then very obviously started talking about us behind our backs. The food was left sitting at the pass under the heat lamp. Since we could see everything, we ate quickly so we could still enjoy the delicious taste of the main course, as the heat would certainly have affected its quality. What was really disappointing was that all the staff members were very obviously gossiping not only about us but also about other guests. The food was great, but the service will be remembered and won't encourage me to visit again.

Excellent goose, traditional braised dishes are a staple, and they also serve outstanding Wiener Schnitzel. Don't be put off by the train station!

We had dinner with a pre-booked group of 40 people during a weekend in Konstanz. I organized it and received honest feedback from my group: fresh, good food, friendly staff, and good value for money. Don't be put off by the uninviting location by the street and train station. The quality is good.

For our reservation of 10 people, we were given a well-placed table in the room. The waiters were always attentive and approachable without being intrusive. The bill could be split without any problems. The food was very good, and everyone was satisfied. The restaurant can definitely be recommended.

I've been here twice now (July 15 & September 9, 2025), and it probably won't be the last. Whereas everyone is just annoyed by kebab stands and pizza, here you'll find excellent, home-style German cooking. My favorite is the pork knuckle, simply perfect. The meat literally falls off the bone, and the beer is simply amazing. The service is prompt and very friendly. By the way, I traveled here especially by public transport from Switzerland, a journey of over three hours.

Good burgers but nothing special, the burger bun was very good but the steaks were average... The waitress clearly forced us to tip at the end of the meal (which is common in Germany) even though she didn't get a smile from us during the meal. Well... there are plenty of other nicer restaurants in Constance

I was there for lunch. There were only 8 guests in the restaurant and on the terrace. After dinner, I was reading the newspaper and suddenly the waiter stood next to me with the bill, which I supposedly had asked his colleague for. I don't remember doing that. That's also a way to be told to pay in an empty restaurant. It's a shame. I enjoyed going there, but now I'm reconsidering. There's more to Konstanz. I'm not a tourist.

As the name suggests, it's a traditional restaurant, and that expectation was met. Good, home-style food at reasonable prices. The food was delicious and the service friendly. The ambiance is, of course, a matter of taste; the outside was fine.

Unfortunately, I can't recommend this restaurant. I went there today. I ordered a fitness salad with chicken, and the chicken was fried in the same place where the hamburger meat was. The whole salad tasted like bad meat. How can you ruin a simple meal?... I won't be going back.

I went there with my wife. The food was delicious, the meat was very juicy, and the spaetzle was also very good. The waiter, Renato 2, served us and was very friendly and accommodating. You're welcome to tip there, too. 👍🏾

We were kindly guided through the construction site and found a lovely, shady terrace. The beer was very drinkable and fresh, and all of the food we ordered was delicious.

It fulfills all expectations of a Bürgerstube restaurant. Beautiful interior, appropriate menu offerings, good value for money, service a bit overzealous. It's a shame that it's in a slightly less attractive location. From the outside and across the street, it's certainly underestimated by many... but that's all the more reason to give it 5 stars.

Bürgerstuben was pretty solid food and it was a pretty nice restaurant. I really enjoyed the vibe of the restaurant and the food itself was tasty though it did feel a little expensive for the portion size. However, I did enjoy my meal and it was very tasty and flavorful!

Personally, I wasn't entirely convinced by the price/performance ratio, the portions were large and you could watch something being prepared through the open kitchen. I thought it was too expensive for the quality. The service was friendly and very quick. I would be happy to give the restaurant a second chance.

Unfortunately no longer recommended. Veal schnitzel came with cold potatoes - fried onions are now only available in cans. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio is no longer correct at all, €31.80 for a veal schnitzel of this quality is a disgrace. Very big potential for improvement!

I went there for dinner. Had a delicious steak. The service was even better. Very attentive but not too intrusive. I highly recommend it.

The food was simply top-notch (onion roast beef), and the price-performance ratio was absolutely perfect. My dog was immediately provided with a bowl of fresh water (we sat outside, so I don't know if dogs are allowed inside). I highly recommend the Bürgerstuben Wirtshaus. A quick tip: the cellar beer is also excellent. 👌🏻

This was my second time there. From the outside, it looks unassuming and not as inviting as it actually is inside. Friendly service with great dishes and a cozy atmosphere. Very satisfied. Reasonable prices for the location in the heart of Konstanz.

Once and never again. The potato salad tasted like it was already three days old. My burger meat tasted sour, and my child's spaetzle was cold, and the cream sauce had a skin on top.

Joar Bürgerstube is more of a tourist spot; some dishes, especially starters, are massively overpriced. A starter salad costs over €8! The lunch menu is certainly attractive in terms of price. For other main courses, you have to think twice. Apparently, the service depends on the day. A few weeks later, the cheese spaetzle I ordered was in the lower third, and the burger was okay. The service is therefore rather average, like so many things in Konstanz.

Das Essen war ungewürzt aber ok, die Kellner super unfreundlich. Da gab es so viele Situationen in dem die Kellner einfach respektlos und arrogant gehandelt haben, richtig deutsch können sie auch nicht. Ich empfehle es wirklich nicht und verstehe auch die ganzen guten Bewertungen nicht, ich habe noch nie eine Bewertung geschrieben weil mir das sonst egal ist aber wenn man einen ich abkassiert und respektlos auf das Trinkgeld wartet dann ist es bei mir komplett vorbei.

Reviews are bogus, I can only advise against it! The Maultaschen were cold, the meat on the burger was very bad, and the fries weren't cooked through. The prices are completely overpriced. The entire staff speaks very poor German and is quite unfriendly. I can only tell every tourist not to go there -> mass transit...

I think it's a shame that the fries were initially very hard and old. Afterward, we were given other fries that were supposed to be better, but unfortunately, they tasted like frozen fries. Nobody liked the spaetzle either, which was also a sign of frozen goods. It was also sad that the fried curry tomato had more flavor than the entire order I received. The burger was a disaster: The bread resembled a cheap Rewe product and wasn't fresh, the cheese wasn't melted, and apparently, that's completely normal there. In my opinion, you shouldn't prepare certain dishes if you don't know what you're doing. The only good thing about the burger was the meat. €5 for a glass of sparkling water is also ridiculous.

Fast, unfriendly service. Was immediately asked for a drink, and they didn't even have a menu. Ordered two Baileys coffees. They got two warm waters with milk and Baileys. No sign of coffee 🤔

Had an extremely bad meal with my husband in the Bürgerstuben. The fish was extremely fatty and fried, the fat was on your lips and in your mouth, still causing extreme nausea. The duck was bone dry and not fresh. Rarely in my life have I eaten such a bad meal for €95. Local wine was good.

We had the cheese spaetzle and unfortunately it was the worst we have ever eaten, it was swimming in an indefinable sauce. We actually wanted to return the dish straight away but somehow ended up half eating it. The knuckle was ok but bland, too little sauce and you have to pay extra for more sauce. Not recommended!

Large portions, friendly staff, super tasty Allergies are taken into account very well.

Waiters friendly. Always an eye for the guests. We had shredded beef and a tavern pan, we liked it and the portion was big enough. Priced in the upper range. Tables clean.
