Konzil in Konstanz

Wir kennen das Konzil seit zwanzig Jahre und waren früher immer sehr zufrieden. Seit dem Pächterwechsel zum Caterer sind wir nun zum zweiten Male eingebrochen. Allerding superfreundliche Bedienung der ja für die Missgriffe der Küche nichts kann: Rinderbäckchen hart und versalzen, die Schweinemedallions ebenfalls hart, der Saibling war gut. Das sind wir von früher ganz anders gewöhnt, also in Zukunft nicht mehr. Schade

Overall, the Konzil in Konstanz offers a pleasant dining experience in a historic and lively setting. It is a place appreciated for both its food and its atmosphere and will certainly appeal to many guests.

Am Freitag 27. Dez. wollten wir zu zweit um 11:40 Uhr im Restaurant Konzil unser Mittagessen einnehmen. Gemäss Aushang vor dem Restaurant sollte das Restaurant ab 11:30 Uhr geöffnet sein. Bereits hatten 2 weitere Personen vor dem Restaurant gewartet. Das Restaurant war geöffnet aber leer. Nachdem (3-4 Minuten) endlich jemand aufgetaucht ist, wurde uns harsch mitgeteilt, dass das Restaurant erst in etwa 15 Minuten (also um 12 Uhr!) geöffnet wird. Zusätzlich wurden wir von einem Herr mit schwarzer Weste aufgefordert den Eingangsbereich zu verlassen. Konstanz hat viele anderer gute Restaurants. Zu viert haben wir dann in ein anderes Restaurant gewechselt. Für uns kommt das Restaurant "Konzil" so schnell nicht mehr in Frage.

Im Restaurant war zur späten Mittagszeit eine Schlange am Eingang. Da die Hauptmittagszeit bereits vorbei war und wir sehen konnten dass mehrere Gäste dabei waren zu bezahlen haben wir uns entschieden zu warten. Der Empfang war nicht freundlich - wir wurden ohne Begrüßung gefragt „zum Essen?“, das haben bejaht. Als wir an der Reihe war wurde uns zunächst gesagt wir sollen ein Stück durchgehen und an einem langen Mitteltisch warten, es würde dann gleich der Tisch neben uns am Fenster (dritter Tisch von rechts vom Eingang aus) sauber gemacht. Die Kellner liefen hin und her. Als der Tisch fertig war wurden wir ignoriert. Als ich dann gefragt habe ob wir uns nun setzen dürften, sagte ein anderer Kellner- Nein! Der Tisch wäre jetzt reserviert. Wir könnten uns auf der Bankseite links an einen kleinen Tisch setzen. Der Tisch war die ganze Zeit frei gewesen - da war aber kaum Platz weil alles voller Jacken und Taschen lag, die Gäste dort hatten überwiegend Kaffee und Kuchen soweit wir sehen konnten. Ich habe dann nochmal einen anderen Kellner gefragt, ob wir uns nicht doch dort ans Fenster setzen könnten, der Tisch sei uns ursprünglich ja zugewiesen worden. Der Kellner sagte dann total unfreundlich, nein es wäre noch Mittagszeit, Sie brauchen den Tisch für mehrere Personen. Währendessen wurden alle anderen Gäste aus der Schlange hinter uns - auch alle jeweils 2 Personen - an die großen Tische am Fenster gesetzt. Auch 2 Personen an den Tisch ursprünglich uns zugewiesen war. Wir haben uns dann wieder angezogen und sind gegangen, haben versucht mit den Kellnern zu sprechen, lediglich die beiden netten Gäste haben uns angeboten uns bei ihnen dazu zu setzen. Wir waren dann aber zu enttäuscht und verärgert und sind gegangen. Niemand hat das interessiert oder sich entschuldigt. In einem Restaurant wo wir üblicherweise ca 100.- Euro für ein Mittagessen ausgegeben hätten sind wir noch nie dort oder woanders so behandelt worden. Wir haben dann woanders sehr schön mit gutem Umsatz und Trollen Service gegessen. Dort gehen wir nie wieder hin. Schade, denn im April war es sehr nett.

We were here for an early dinner today and had a really good meal. The service was friendly, quick and courteous, despite the full indoor and outdoor area. The food tasted very good, large portions and good value for money. A 100% recommendation to anyone who wants to eat well in Konstanz. It is advisable to reserve.

The location, view, atmosphere are great. The food is good, the service is a little slow but it's a great place for a nice dinner. A fire lit in an open area also adds a more beautiful atmosphere.

Unser Besuch in den Konzil-Gaststätten war leider eine enttäuschende Erfahrung. Die Bedienung ließ uns, ignoriert und vernachlässigt, für eine volle Viertelstunde sitzen. Noch schlimmer war, dass wir beim Verlassen sogar verachtet wurden, ohne auch nur einen Bissen zu essen oder einen Schluck zu trinken bekommen zu haben. Es schien, als ob unsere Kleiderwahl, die nicht dem Markenstandard entsprach, die Ursache für diese unangemessene Behandlung war. Es ist unerlässlich, dass das Servicepersonal seine Aufmerksamkeit und Freundlichkeit gegenüber allen Gästen, unabhängig von ihrer Kleiderwahl, verbessert.

Wir waren vom Essen sehr enttäuscht. Die Vorspeise ein Eisbergsalat mit warmen Ziegenkäse mit einer Scheibe Speck ummantelt war lieblos auf dem Teller gehäuft. Der Salat war lampig und vermutlich schon seit einigen Stunden angerichtet. Als Hauptspeise hatten wir ein Entrecôte mit Röstzwiebeln, Gemüse und Kartoffelgratin. Das Fleisch war gut und zart, das Gemüse zwar frisch aber leider verkocht und pampig. Der Gratin fade. Auf eine Nachspeise haben wir verzichtet. Schade!

The council is in a great location on Lake Constance. In summer with a great outdoor area overlooking the lake. The food was convincing. The prices are high according to the location.

We had the “Schnitzel Champions with Spätzle”. Unfortunately the spaetzle tasted 0.0. Totally overcooked lump of frozen product! They weren't 100% homemade, so no one has to blame me because we come from Swabia, spaetzle is very important to us! (Our 2 year old daughter liked it, hence 3 stars in the rating) The schnitzel and the side salad were ok - nothing spectacular. Conclusion: 5/10. For a spontaneous visit without having to search for a long time, it was ok.

A covered terrace with heaters on the promenade. The fish we ordered was so bad, the pan was too long and the vegetables were a bit tasteless. Service was friendly and accommodating.

The four of us recently visited the place and it was definitely worth it. The ambience was really very nice. The food was very good, but the service was even better, we were very well advised and looked after by the waiter Syed. We would be happy to come back and thank you for the nice evening. You could tell that he gave everything to make everything as beautiful as possible for us, this was reflected with love and passion, and you also have to mention that he always tried to entertain us. This definitely deserves a next visit! Thanks for the great stay.

The location is great and so is the facility. I think a portion of fries for children for 9.50 euros is a little excessive, but the location on the lake and the proximity to Switzerland make high prices possible. The food was fine and the service was professional, lackluster but efficient. All in all OK.

Friendly welcome, nice staff, nice ambience with a great view of Lake Constance. But... the overpriced tea in the tattered glass remains in your memory. Overall, it was still a nice experience - next time I'll just drink a coffee drink, it'll be cheaper.

Esist unverständlich dass ein so renommiertes Haus sich mit dieser doch recht banalen Küchenleistung zufrieden gibt. Egal, ob man Fisch oder Fleisch bestellt, es ist alles nicht total schlecht aber auch nicht gut gekocht; auch die ( Gemüse-) Beilagen sind nichts Besonderes und auch noch zu wenig. Selbst die Bouillon ist dünn und flach. Hier sollte - immerhin ist dasTraditionshau s INSELHOTEL eine Visitenkarte von KN - dringend in der Küche etwas passieren: feine bürgerliche Küche wäre vonnöten!

Great restaurant in a historic building. My mussels with fries were tasty and plentiful. The price of €19.50 is ok for this portion and location.

We were there on a Saturday without a reservation. We sat outside and it wasn't that cold thanks to the heating tubes. The view is fantastic, we had 2 different schnitzels, a salad and a salmon. Everything was great and the portions were large, especially the schnitzels were amazing! There are 2 huge schnitzels on the plate with fries. Tasteful and delicious! Unfortunately, the waitresses were responsible for inside and outside, and it was very busy. So it took time until we could get the menus and place orders. The food took a while, but it was great and that made up for it. I think it's more relaxed during the week.

Nice location at the harbor. Great terrace. The bouillabaise was very tasty, generous portion, although chosen to be "small". The menu mentions Lake Constance fish, but there is apparently no shrimp here... still very good. Unfortunately the staff was a bit overwhelmed, perhaps not enough for the large crowd?! Nevertheless: I would go there again.

We thought, okay, let's test it out, it's more of a tourist hot spot. We were therefore all the more surprised, 1. how tasty and large the portions were (we had the fish platter, whitefish & Kretzer Müllerin | fried zander & char Parsley potatoes | Spinach | vegetables | white butter sauce) and 2. how attentive the staff was (the Cologne colleagues could learn a lot from that...). Plus curious sparrows - wonderful. Gladly again.

Situato proprio sul lungolago, in centro a Costanza. Locale grande, con una bella terrazza esterna. Servizio rapido, personale efficiente anche se non particolarmente empatico. Menu con piatti tipici della zona. Cibo ottimo, con porzioni abbondanti. Prezzi non molto economici, ma in linea con la media in zona.

Well attended, not least because of the perfect location at the harbor. Easily accessible by wheelchair. The waiters were friendly and competent. Only the food on offer didn't match the menu. More than half of the cakes listed on the menu were not available. The prices are already moving towards Swiss prices, but who is surprised?

Worst service I have experienced in Germany! The cuisine is good, the only thing to note about the apple strudel is that the vanilla sauce is served cold! The ambience is very nice because you can look directly at the lake. Prices are also very expensive compared to other restaurants in the city, but you have a view of the lake.

The schnitzel was cooked in the same oil as the fish, meaning my schnitzel tasted like fish, it made me want to throw up. Service was rude, took all our glasses an hour before closing time and felt like throwing us out, that was very inappropriate.

We ordered the fish plate for 2 person. It was absolutely delicious and so fresh! We struggled to finish because the portion is quite big. The staff are very friendly and attentive.

I made an online reservation two days in advance for my birthday. It said that I should receive a confirmation. Two days later I call and the man on the phone answers with an annoyed and unfriendly attitude, no one has been at the computer since 11 a.m. (2 days after my reservation) and the restaurant is now fully booked, I would have been unlucky.

4.1 was a bit daunting at first. But the food was very, very tasty. The homemade lemonade was also very good. Everything is great with the view.

La situation et la vue depuis la terrasse sont les atouts de cet établissement. Pour le reste, la nourriture est correcte, énorme plat de poissons du lac accompagné de lecture correctement cuits et de pommes de terre au four. Par contre il aurait mieux fallu privilégier la cuisson du poisson à la quantité (une douzaine de filets pour 2). La note est salée et malheureusement pas en accord avec la prestation.

Such an expensive restaurant and such poor quality. Very unfortunate. We were looking forward to a very tasty lunch, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. In the salad punch, both the eggs and the red cabbage salad were bad. A pungent, foul taste. There was hardly any dressing on the lettuce and the dry chicken breast was also added. Also play the same thing with the dressing for the side salad. It's actually a shame, salad isn't difficult to prepare. The ribs and potatoes were ok. Unfortunately, the elderberry spritzer also tasted very artificial.

Pleasant restaurant near a pretty and friendly railway line. The servers are pleasant. Pretty good meal. I had salmon with fries. Too bad the salmon is served with a strange sauce. The café crème is good, it's not the best, but it has a pleasant taste all the same.

The menu on the notice board appealed to us and we spontaneously decided to go to the council without making a reservation. The service employee was very attentive, quick and seemed absolutely competent and respectful when dealing with other guests. He literally tried to anticipate the guests' wishes and thus anticipate their expression. It's rare to see such a high level of customer service. The beef broth with flädle was perfectly seasoned. Not too much and not too little salt. The pancakes appear to be homemade, but I'm not sure if they're homemade. I have rarely eaten such excellent cheese spaetzle. The right balance between solid and liquid. Personally, I thought it was great that there were a decent amount of fried onions and not, as usual, literally counted out. Everything was excellent and the evening turned out to be a positive experience, because unfortunately it didn't look like it at the beginning. Even if it was at the beginning, negative things are mentioned at the end. The guest receptionist asked us where we would like to sit and we said, preferably somewhere away from the other guests. We were offered a place that had occupied tables surrounded by other guests. We asked again for a table with fewer neighbors and pointed to the other end of the still sparsely occupied terrace. We were then led to the middle of the terrace, where there were again many guests, and the menus were placed on a table. So I chose a place myself that wasn't reserved. No drama, but unnecessary for us.

Table reserved for seven people. Arrived 15 minutes early, although the reserved table was free, we were reluctant to be shown to it. The waiter was extremely unfriendly and had fun during the evening at the expense of the guests. Food okay Wrong food delivered, wrong wine delivered. Food spilled on the table while being served. no excuse at all. Only unwilling individual billing. Conclusion: it's a shame, we won't "disrupt" operations here anymore

I went back at the beginning of August 24 after a long break to see what the food was like now. I had previously only given it one star. Now two - the 2nd but only because of the drink! I order salad with chicken. I chewed the latter endlessly - it was so dry. The salad dressing had very little flavor. Overall, needs improvement! However, you can certainly go for a drink, coffee, cake or ice cream. The view is always worth a visit! So: people, make a little effort 😜 There's still room for improvement ⬆️☝️ And you should hire staff who speak German... ......... I wrote this a long time ago: After a long time I was looking forward to a good meal. However, it was MISERABLE! Meat tough, napkin dumplings... they used to be great... not fluffy, vegetables with no taste... not even salted or peppered... plus a spritzer that left a lot to be desired - served in a dirty, smelly glass!! ! No, I will never go there again!!! An absolute CHRIST!!!

Absolutely disgusting. I had the schnitzel with mushrooms and fried potatoes. The mushrooms were slimy and the fried potatoes were pure mush. The schnitzel wasn't great either, but it was halfway okay. The best part was by far the beer. I definitely won't be coming back here anytime soon.
