The value for money was very good. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly. We weren't an easy group with six small children (15 in total). They remained welcoming throughout.

We reserved a table, requested a window table with a view, and got it. The food arrived quickly and was excellent; we'd love to come back. Cheers, the schnitzel lovers ;-)

Since I was there for a comedy show, I can't comment on the restaurant. The hall itself was great, and my fear that the beams (visible in photos) might be in the way was unfounded. The few seats directly behind them simply remained empty.

We went to the Konzil restaurant for dinner. We ordered veal strips in cream sauce and a vegan organic salad. What we were served was clearly stringy, dry beef stew/goulash, and the salad consisted mostly of carrots... The quinoa was practically nonexistent, there was only half a walnut and about five pomegranate seeds on top. All this for the exorbitant price of €29.50 and €26.50 respectively. Disappointing! We told the waiter so. He seemed to know perfectly well it wasn't veal and refused to address the issue. Definitely not recommended for a meal. Drinks or snacks are okay, but anything more than that? No thanks... What a shame...

After a long break, we visited the restaurant at 4:00 PM before the Christmas market. We noticed that some renovations had taken place, particularly in the restrooms. Unfortunately, the veal ragout with spaetzle and vegetables was a disaster. The ragout was only slightly reheated, the sauce extremely thick, the vegetables undercooked and lukewarm, and the spaetzle, which I love, were partly cold and partly burnt, but not hot! Newly arrived guests had to wait quite a while at the entrance, near the sign saying "please wait, you will be shown to your table," because there was no waiter in the dining room. This meant I couldn't report my unfortunate situation with the unacceptable food! When the waiter finally came and acknowledged my problem, he offered me an espresso on our tab. In my opinion, the Konzil restaurant, or rather its kitchen, has not improved. I certainly know better restaurants in Konstanz. If there are only two employees/waiters in the restaurant in the afternoon, and one of them – who happens to be an amateur cook – has to reheat the food and serve it, it's simply impossible! They're cutting corners in the wrong place. I absolutely do not recommend the Konzil restaurant in Konstanz!

I was at a concert in the Council Hall, so unfortunately I can't comment on the food.

Great location. Unfortunately, events feel like a mass catering operation, which limits the enjoyment of the food. Plates are presented without care, and even the same dish has different components. A shame.

We reserved a table for dinner before an event in the building. We inquired about parking and were recommended the nearby underground parking garage. Unfortunately, they forgot to mention that the Christmas market was taking place that day. Naturally, everything was packed. No chance of parking. We were totally stressed and arrived late. The waiter was stressed but friendly and brought our food quickly. The restaurant was overflowing because of the market. The feeling of eating in peace was completely lost. We also thought it would be a bit nicer than the event hall, but it's just a typical street food place. Perhaps this was due to the fact that it was completely full that evening... The only schnitzel on the menu was pork. Coke was Pepsi. If you just want cheap and good food, this is the place. The event venue is nice, but with its wooden beams, it's totally unsuitable for watching a comedy show or anything similar.

Delicious bistro cuisine, also suitable for health-conscious eaters. A lovely terrace overlooking the Konstanz harbor pier and Peter Lenk's "Imperia" statue, which you can watch turning during the day. Friendly service.

A historic place with views of the Imperia monument and the lake. Very nice and quiet (I was surprised that German restaurants don't play loud music, which is great). Fast, tasty, and reasonably priced.

Lovely hosts, we were immediately offered a seat on the terrace and received very friendly service. Prices were justified given the ambiance. Wonderful view of the lake and mountains. We would gladly return, thank you very much.

There were three of us plus a child at the Konzil Restaurant, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The restaurant offers a beautiful view of Lake Constance – perfect for a relaxed lunch or dinner. The food was excellent, and the portions were generous; we all left full and satisfied. The service was friendly and prompt, even though the restaurant was busy. We definitely recommend making a reservation, otherwise, it can be difficult to get a table. The only downside: the drink prices are a bit above average. Overall, though, it was a wonderful experience that we would gladly repeat!

The location is beautiful, and so is the first interior. The back room is uncomfortable and unloved. The restrooms and changing table are unfortunately dirty, even with dirty walls, with horrible brown stains! But the reason we didn't order anything else was the really unfriendly staff! The entire table was astonished by this kind of welcome. It feels different.

Delicious home-style cooking, oversized portions—perhaps because we got the cheerfully fermented sauerkraut and a large family portion of fries, plus two extra scoops of sorbet for dessert, plus another small snack for the aperitif. 😍 This, plus the extremely efficient and humorous service, will definitely make us want to come back! 🌿💜👍🌺😋

Unfortunately, there was no cheesecake available. Instead, we were treated to delicious cheesecake with our two cappuccinos. Unfortunately, our visit took much longer than originally planned. It took about 15 minutes to place our order, and another 15 minutes after we were notified that we could pay. The coffee and cake were delicious, but they couldn't make up for the poor service. It's a shame.

I used to love going to this restaurant, but unfortunately, I can't recommend it anymore. There was a sign at the entrance: "Please wait, we'll be happy to seat you." That's exactly what happened – an employee showed us to our table. After a while, a young waiter came over, who initially ignored us and preferred to serve guests who wanted to pay. When he finally came over and I confronted him, he brazenly claimed we had simply sat down ourselves. But it was clearly a colleague of his who had assigned us the seat. The icing on the cake, however, was that he then went to another employee and talked about us – which was obvious, as both were looking over at us at that moment. Disrespectful and unprofessional behavior that I don't have to tolerate. I expect service and appreciation from a restaurant, not rudeness and incompetent staff. I will remember this behavior – and also pass it on to my business circles.

Good food, nice view and the worst playlist ever (pity on us)!

The place would be nice, but the restaurant owner, Detlef, is absolutely arrogant and unfriendly. This is the second time we've been disappointed; the food is simply nothing more than 3 Classics, to the point where many people don't want to eat there anymore.

The food is very good. The portions are perfectly adequate. The value for money is unbeatable. Whenever we're in Konstanz, fish at the Konzilrestaurant is a must. Absolutely recommended!

We wanted a quick bite to eat at Konzil at 11:30 on a Friday. We were practically the only ones there. We had to wait two hours for our food. We were repeatedly put off. Then we were told our receipt had been issued at a different location! A different location? Narnja? Some of the newcomers around us got their food very quickly. We were like prisoners waiting for our food. Besides the rosé prosecco, the ambiance was the only positive thing! I won't be coming here again and can't recommend it!

The stay and service were good. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. The view of Lake Constance was beautiful, with a peaceful atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and left nothing to be desired. The only negative was the restrooms, which weren't clean or tidy that day.

We stopped here for coffee and cake on Sunday, August 17th. The place made a good impression; a sign asked us to wait in the entrance area and we would be assigned a seat. We didn't have to wait long; a friendly waiter came and even asked if we could change our seats. He was otherwise very friendly, good, and quick. Unfortunately, I can't say anything positive about the cake. What's possible in almost any village pastry shop wasn't possible here. We couldn't go inside to choose the cake. The strawberry cake my wife received was obviously a thawed convenience product, the kind I can find at any discount store. I don't like buying a product in an expensive restaurant that I would never buy at home. Therefore, unfortunately, I can't recommend it. I would like to point out that other things can be really good, and I would like to limit my non-recommendation to the cake section only.

The food was very delicious. I recommend the homemade lemonade! The server was very attentive and kind. The only negative experience was the price of water, and they are not allowed to serve tap water.

Five star restaurant with domestic German cuisine. Very kind and well educated personnel. Large choice of the main dishes, poultry and fish. Of course excellent choice og German beers, alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Warmly recommended....

The restaurant is located by the harbor. We had to wait a bit longer for the food. Unfortunately, there are always people who give it a 1. Usually, they act out of frustration or anger. They don't see the whole picture, only the flaws. But I've written over 1,000 reviews. The worst rating was a 3.

My 11-year-old son was denied access to the restroom at the Lake Night Festival on August 9, 2025 (by a dyed-blonde receptionist with shoulder-length hair, about 50-60 years old, outside). When I urgently requested that my child urgently use the restroom, she threw it in our faces: "Public restroom in the underpass." Would anyone want to subject a child to that in a filthy public restroom several hundred meters away? We had to fight our way through the crowd to the Steg 4 restaurant, where we received a very friendly welcome and my little son was immediately allowed to use the restroom! We often visit Constance and travel over 100km to get there; we will never go to the Council building again! Very rude!

First of all, I'm from the restaurant industry myself and know how much eating out costs in such restaurants. Still, it was a disaster. The shandy we ordered never arrived. Despite repeated orders and reminders. It was still on the bill. We ordered two dishes, a children's spaetzle, and two drinks. It should be noted that we had a children's portion and an appetizer, plus a small Fanta and a bottle of water. The final price was €71.80. I wonder how that's justified. The salad was inedible (I've rarely had such a bad dressing). Not even one person came to ask if everything was OK. We were ignored. We won't be making a second visit.

A lovely and cozy restaurant. The staff is very friendly and the food is excellent. We always enjoy coming back to enjoy their signature breaded schnitzel "Konzil" – simply delicious! A small but honest comment concerns the coffee. As espresso lovers, we've tried the espresso here several times – unfortunately, it was undrinkable every time. We can't comment on other versions like Caffè Lungo or Americano, but the espresso is unfortunately undrinkable. Italian friends or lovers of a good espresso should be careful. A tip: A small electric machine with pods or capsules just for espresso might solve the problem.

We won't be coming back! It's become very impersonal and arrogant. The service staff aren't to blame! We tried three times on completely different days and times. We turned right each time. It's just gotten to the point where we don't feel comfortable at all! What a pity... That was once: We've been here countless times and were pleasantly surprised and served by the staff each time. An extremely cheerful team that supports each other, making it a very pleasant experience for guests. This is the reason why we love coming back again and again. They also offer excellent menus, which, when the weather is nice, can be enjoyed on the large garden terrace overlooking Lake Constance. Oct. 2021 (1st time back since COVID-19): Well, there are new owners at the Konzil now. The place has lost a bit of its appeal for us. As non-smokers, we no longer have the option of sitting inside if we're bothered by the smoke from our table neighbors. There's no non-smoking area outside. We're not allowed to choose our own tables; they're assigned to us after waiting in a long line. I find the queueing quite annoying, as the table allocation process is quite slow.

Everything was perfect, the food, the service and the beautiful view

We were there for lunch, two adults and two children. We paid a total of 110 euros. I ordered salmon, a dish that's hard to fail at. Unfortunately, it was the worst salmon I've ever eaten, completely tasteless and of very poor quality. Green-black flies were constantly flying around the restaurant. It was truly unpleasant eating while constantly trying to chase the insects off the table. I even had to use the menu holder with the wooden base because there were so many flies. The wooden base accidentally fell off the table, but only onto the floor; no one was hurt. Nevertheless, the waiter with dark hair and a black beard suddenly reacted strangely, even though there was absolutely no reason for it. He seemed annoyed and acted strangely, without us saying or asking for anything. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. It was far too expensive for a simple lunch. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant.

A mega recommendation! The food isn't cheap, but it's delicious. And everything is freshly prepared. Even the fries are homemade. Respect. The view is amazing, I highly recommend it.

Beautiful surroundings in a historic location. Excellent cuisine and you can zoom in on everything. Fries and asparagus, just perfect taste. On the terrace, a view of the lake to the harbor. You feel like you're right by the sea.

We arrived at 9:05 p.m. and they refused to serve us even though the service ended at 9:30 p.m. because it was raining. They rudely kicked us out. Not at all recommended.

I was back at the Konzil after a long time! Great service, terrible food! The food came in a 'cat's-eye' plate, not beautifully presented, and the taste was borderline subpar! A disappointment for my guest and me. The only thing that was decent was the wine! Such a shame, considering the restaurant is in such a beautiful location! Greetings from two disappointed Swiss women!

The food is good (we had pike-perch, stuffed peppers, and a children's schnitzel with potato fries). The ambiance and view, with its waterfront/harbor location, are truly spectacular. The "Butterflies in the Stomach" rosé is also delicious.

It's a disgrace to charge €4.50 for a small piece of chocolate sponge cake, then falsely label it as a Sachertorte. When I asked, they even denied me that it was a Sacher Torte, which is simply a lie. No concessions, nothing at all. The only positive thing I experienced here was the view.

I recently went there for lunch with my girlfriend for the second time. The first time, everything was really good. This time, I found the portions ridiculously small and not worth the price. The taste also left something to be desired. The worst thing I found was the wild broccoli, which had some charred spots, but otherwise, it was rock hard. It wasn't even pre-cooked, and there was only salt and pepper in a couple of places. Oh, and lots of lemon juice. We're not going there anymore. Oh, and the salad my girlfriend got consisted of three slices of iceberg lettuce, about 5mm thick, two pieces of radicchio, and two goat cheeses fried in bacon, for almost ....... euros. Really amazing.

This place has the best outdoor patio of runts having coffee or dinner and a view of the lake. It’s a good thing they are decent because the view is super. Enjoy! The photos are of the boats that take you from Friedrichshafen. Der Katamaran cheap food, a Red or Blue or Green one.

Very friendly and competent service at Konstanz's hotspot with a view of the harbor and the lake. Even with the terrace packed, we were served promptly. The food was absolutely delicious.

A visit to remember! The food was outstanding – lovingly prepared, flavorful, and served with a lovely dose of creativity. What impressed me most, however, was the service: The waiters were extremely friendly, attentive, and yet pleasantly unobtrusive. Despite the full house, there was no rush – quite the opposite. You felt seen and welcome. Every request was greeted with a smile and promptly fulfilled. A place where you feel completely at home – not just because of the good food, but above all thanks to a team that does its job with true passion.

So, if you just want coffee and a slice of cake, you'll be whisked away to the roof terrace. It's self-service, the waitresses don't know what decaf coffee is, and the apple pie is frozen. And that's €4.50 for a small slice. Well, the location is very nice, right on the harbor. On hot summer days, the fresh breeze is very nice.

This courteous man in a dark green T-shirt not only plugged in my phone to charge, but even brought me a refreshing drink. That shows a high level of professionalism and a kind heart. Just thank you 🫶 I'll definitely come back to this place next time. 😊

Yes, nice location. Friendly service. Harbor and lake views.

The location and the view are truly beautiful. Unfortunately, the food selection was disappointing. While there are classic dishes like schnitzel, they're exclusively made with pork. There are no turkey schnitzel or other alternatives for guests who don't eat pork – which is a real shame and out of date these days. The service was friendly, but overall, I would have liked a bit more variety on the menu.

The young man at the reception was very friendly and accommodated our requests. Our actual server, however, wasn't so pleasant, possibly due to the stress. My meal was good; the schnitzel was also good, but the spaetzle wasn't so good. My girlfriend had a salad for €18.50, but it was very small and the salad wasn't cut properly. It's okay if you have money and are hungry, but it's not necessary.

By far the rudest waiter I've ever encountered! A lack of manners and helpfulness - once and never again!
