Restaurant Schützenhaus auf dem Turmberg in Karlsruhe

This was our first time here for dinner. Because of the time, we sat inside. We received a friendly welcome and equally friendly service. We had cheese spaetzle with a wonderful, fresh lamb's lettuce and a cordon bleu with fries. Both dishes were more than generous in quantity and incredibly delicious! While we waited for our food, we could hear the meat being pounded in the kitchen; it was freshly prepared with plenty of ham and cheese filling. I have to say, I didn't read any reviews beforehand. WE were very satisfied and will definitely come back!

A schnitzel smaller than the palm of your hand for 22 euros - and even worse was the children's meal for 13.50 euros: frozen fries and a schnitzel that tasted worse than the 1 euro schnitzel from IKEA. It was really tasteless. We also had to wait an hour. I recommend not going!

We were there on Sunday, the first and last time. We had reserved a table, at some point the requirement came, we ordered food, the food only came after three quarters of an hour, only lukewarm, wrong schnitzel, and all the side dishes, fries and sauces were so salty, food portions were very small for the price they charge, you expect more quality, for the money we paid, we would have had more of it at McDonalds. Too bad for the store. We're not coming anymore.

We wanted to have a drink there in the afternoon on Saturday in the beautiful spring weather and maybe go for a bite to eat. There were still 5 free tables outside. The restaurant was busy, but not completely overcrowded. As soon as we sat down, we were turned away with the brusque explanation of “recording stop”! Hide all issues Everything would have to be filled up first (what?). We were totally taken aback and didn't even know what was meant at first. In any case, we were refused the free table. We have never experienced anything like this in many years of restaurant experience. The catering industry complains about dwindling sales all year round, and then you're not even adequately prepared for visitors on the first nice spring weekend? I just don't have the understanding for that. The problems are In such cases it is probably more homemade. It's a shame, because the location is beautiful and great in the forest (next to a nice playground and near the climbing park). But friendliness and customer orientation are actually a given. It's sad that both seem to be missing here...

Yesterday we went to the Schützenhaus for coffee and cake, such friendly, nice and great service, we were thrilled, the food was delicious... we'll definitely be back :-)

Great all around every time! Delicious food, nice service, nice to sit.

It was January 1st, 2025 and we had reserved a table and were greeted and seated very friendly. The young waitress stepped in for sick colleagues and was incredibly open, funny, competent and attentive and passed on our wishes wonderfully to the kitchen and we ate and drank very tasty and pleasantly as a group of five. We can only recommend the restaurant and the food and find the price-performance ratio to be reasonable. Thank you for that and all the best for 2025!

We were there for lunch with 10+ people. Very tasty traditional dishes with modern twists. Nice and fast service. Absolutely recommended.

Incident 01/01/2025 We received a very harsh rejection on the grounds that there was no staff because everyone had called in sick. So if that's how customers are treated here, then I'm not surprised that some of the staff have called in sick. We understand the circumstances, but we still need to work hard on communication.

Waren heute das 2te mal sehr zufrieden bei unserem Besuch im Schützenhaus. Super leckere kompackte Karte. Üppige Portionen und gute Qualität rechtfertigen hier definitiv das gehobene Preisniveau. Service ist super nett und aufmerksam. Wir kommen gerne wieder !

Very nice and cozy atmosphere, the service was super friendly and accommodating. The food was also excellent. The mixed salad with house dressing and the tarte flambée were both very tasty. The prices are a little higher but in my opinion that's definitely justified because you get really great food for it. In addition, it is an upscale restaurant with a special location. A clear recommendation from me and I would like to come back soon.

For at least 20 years I have enjoyed coming to this fine restaurant with always courteous service and first-class food. Since I generally don't eat a lot, I rely on small portions, such as a portion of spaetzle or fries with salad, which was never a problem. (The rest of the family still orders enough expensive food!)) Today it was said 'That doesn't exist anymore! ! So I was allowed to order a side salad, but not fries or spaetzle!! In 63 years I have never been denied a portion of fries in a restaurant!!! I find that extremely rude!!! It's a shame that you have now lost a family who was a regular customer for many years.

Addendum 10/25/24 based on the reaction from the Schützenhaus. These:We have never We cook fresh and regional. Now that has its price. If we find this to be too expensive, we should take a look at the current situation, which probably affects everyone. Such statements lose some empathy. We are not a snack bar but a restaurant. Quality is important to us. We are experienced in gastronomy ourselves. The current situation...a Gordon Bleu doesn't have to cost €30.50, even from regional products. You can also overdo it. Other restaurants that offer regional goods and food do not have these exorbitant prices. If you want, I would be happy to list a few restaurants here that are regional and have a GOOD price-performance ratio. Show me a restaurant with such exorbitant prices. And if you complain on site that Gordon Bleu was very dry and there is no reaction from either the service or the kitchen...I don't think you need to say anything about that. Addendum from visit 9/14/24 NOGO are now the extremely exorbitant prices. The food is good, but not worth that much money. There were 12 of us, everyone was shocked. A few months ago you paid 23 euros for a Gordon Bleu, today it costs 30 euros. SMALL side salad 7 euros. Flammkuchen!!! OVER 20 euros. We said the food was good, but prices like those in an upscale restaurant are a NOGO. Restaurant Schützenhhaus The Schützenhhaus is on the Turmberg in Karlsruhe. One is a real shooting club where there is also a club with a shooting range attached. The restaurant is nice, but noisy in a hall. Everything is very well maintained in this restaurant. The food is good. However, my Gordon Bleu was very dry. When the waitress asked if everything was okay, I mentioned it. Reaction nil. Just turned around and ran away. It was the waitress who cleared away. The portions are generous. The service...Today a young lady welcomed us very friendly. Very polite and accommodating. This young lady was very nice when we made the reservation on the phone. The restaurant also has a very large, typically designed beer garden with lots of greenery and large trees. Parking spaces are in front of the house. I would love to come back. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case; when it comes to prices, I prefer places where the price-performance ratio is justified.

The Schützenhaus on the Turmberg has long been a very nice place to go after walks. It was always cozy and had a family atmosphere. But unfortunately that's a thing of the past... Today I looked at the menu and the prices have now risen horribly. A clear soup with three small dumplings for €9.50 is simply too expensive. The waitress was wearing sweatpants, which didn't seem very professional to me. In addition, a dog in the restaurant next to my table was fed strong-smelling dog food, which I found to be very unhygienic. When I asked to remove the bowl, all I received was a dirty look and not even an apology. In my opinion, the Schützenhaus is no longer what it once was and I will no longer go there. I can't recommend it to anyone.

Dining restaurant on the Turmberg, Karlsruhe-Durlach. Large portions. Had Wiener Schnitzel. It was very tasty, but not manageable (2 large veal schnitzels). It's a shame that you have to order the side salad separately. But it was also very tasty.

A big compliment, the chef knows something about his craft. The mother is always friendly and accommodating. I appreciate the good quality of the products, which the chef skillfully processes and decorates. Ate the best Caesar salad with the FINEST CHICKEN BREAST FILLET, 🍟, outstanding schnitzel in butter and fried in the pan, like at home. Was served a dreamy fish in banana leaves and much more. - You are happy to pay a little more for this quality and taste experiences. The chef is an artist and the restaurant is a great asset to Karlsruhe. THANKS !

Very good food, but not that cheap. Just try it.

I don't understand the whining. Been there at least 5 times this year and have always received friendly and prompt service. A young team with a service that is unfortunately rarely found anymore. The price may seem high on the menu, but the portions were always generous and you can also order sauce. We took some of our leftovers with us. The quality is very good and the craftsmanship is top notch. The roast pork is definitely not better in Bavaria ;-) There is also a nice and quiet beer garden. Quality has its price and restaurateurs are also struggling with increased prices. If you order a 1/2 kg meat plate from a Greek restaurant for €18.90, you should think about what's on the plate. We'd love to come back.

I have to agree with the previous reviews here. The price-performance ratio is no longer right in this restaurant. For example, a tarte flambée for €20 and more is simply too much! If you look at the restaurants in the area, they offer TOP quality, great service and a very nice location for a reasonable price. But here you have the feeling that the money is no longer worth anything. Too bad!

9 months later it's time for an update 😒 After we have often been guests there and have always experienced great food and service, this week we had the third kind of encounter. New "professionals" did not give us a table inside, despite pointing out that we were allergic to wasps. The last very nice lady in service made it possible of course. Unfortunately we - and all our friends - can no longer stop by, it's far too dangerous... ................ Also, but not only, a recommendation because of the continuous kitchen. Quite expensive (e.g. goose leg for €39.90), but the performance and service are also good. If you could shorten the 55 minute waiting time a little, visiting again would be twice as much fun.

Very friendly service, the food is good and plentiful. The absolute hit in the warm season is the beer garden. We recommend the tarte flambée in every variation and, if you like it, a freshly tapped Hoepfner Kräusen on tap - a rarity.

Were probably there at the wrong time. Just had a drink and then went somewhere else where we were welcome. It doesn't always have to be like that. Unfortunately not in our case. 🤚

Strasbourg sausage salad! Mmmm...

Waited two hours for food despite reservations. Other guests were given priority. The food is clearly too expensive for the quality. The chanterelles were bitter, the entire dish was swimming in the sauce. The service was an absolute disappointment. The hedge outside urgently needs to be trimmed. All in all, not a recommendation!

We made reservations online for 9 people. However, three places too few for the children. Certainly a mistake on our part. However, the landlady reacted extremely unfriendly and was not solution-oriented because she supposedly had two parties inside. The beer garden was completely free. The solution would have been to offer us a place outside, which would have been great with the children. Instead, she accused us of having called instead of making a reservation online. The lady was not willing to talk to anyone, she was incredibly unfriendly, indignant and negative in her attitude. One had the impression that the children were her biggest problem and that she didn't want us in the restaurant. We won't be coming back and won't recommend the restaurant to anyone. (You should also remember that our children are the paying guests of tomorrow) 😉

At Pentecost we discovered this restaurant on Turmberg during a trip to Karlsruhe. We were warmly welcomed and were able to take a seat in the shady beer garden. The dishes we ordered, a tarte flambée with a side salad and the schnitzel with fries and gravy, tasted very good and were sufficiently portioned. However, the side dishes for the schnitzel were only served a few minutes later, which would normally all have to be served at the same time. In terms of price, however, the restaurant is at the absolute upper limit, as a previous speaker here aptly described. A schnitzel with fries for just under 23 euros or the side salad for 7.50 euros are quite a deal, even if it tasted very good. That's why I have to deduct a point. Conclusion: The Schützenhaus on the Turmberg is a restaurant with high prices, which we found to be a bit too high despite the very good quality of the food.

This was our second time passing this beer garden. The first time we were sent away very rudely because everything was full. It definitely didn't look full. We just wanted to have a drink and go to a free bar table, but that was denied. We still gave the beer garden another chance and this time we wanted to eat something too. The group in front of us - like us the first time - was very rudely sent away by the boss. There were only two of us and we were “lucky” that there was still a table available. The boss was again extremely rude and constantly insulted guests across the entire beer garden in a tone that was far from friendly. The atmosphere was very unpleasant and we just wanted to get away. When we saw the utopian prices for the food, we lost our hunger. We quickly finished our drinks and left. All the guests around you were talking about the boss's behavior. Since we had the experience with the boss twice, that seems to be her style. However, this is behavior that is not inviting. We definitely won't come back.

The ambience and service were wonderful 😊 Super tasty food, huge portions. Kind regards to the ex-Berliner from today's Berlin & Brandenburg visitors. We'd love to come back and bring dead grandma with us. xD

Hier hatte ich meinen runden Geburtstag mit einer größeren Gesellschaft gefeiert. Von der Planung über die Durchführung / den vorbildlichen Service / die Räumlichkeiten / die Qualität des Essens / kann ich nur in höchsten Tönen loben..war alles sehr professionell. Preis / Leistung passt. Aufgrund meiner Erfahrungen bestens weiter zu empfehlen.

STAY AWAY!! They only told us after we had order our drinks that they didn’t have any asparagus. More than half of their menu was asparagus.. I ordered a beef carpaccio that originally was with asparagus and I said well if you don’t have any I will have it without. It was an average beef carpaccio with 2 slices of cucumber and 4 slices of tomatoes on top.. when we wanted to pay they charged me the whole price for the dish and after I talked to them about it they said well the chef put extra grana padano and pine nuts on the plate so we can’t take anything off the price. After I told them that there were none of the above on my plate they made a discount of 2 euros in total for my dish that originally costed 22!! A disgrace! Also my friends food was horrible and drowning in cream.. You can go watch the sunset and pack your own dinner from home that will taste better and cost less. What a joke

Food good, service good. The only criticism: Everything takes a while

We were there for lunch yesterday and almost everything was perfect. Very friendly service - the atmosphere is very appealing for a forest restaurant and the food is tasty. In terms of price, however, it is at the absolute upper limit - a breaded pork or turkey schnitzel with croquettes and a small side dish costs around 30 EUR - I mean hefty.

After a wonderful hike, we let ourselves be pampered here: everyone was very friendly, the cakes were absolutely delicious and the beer garden was in a wonderful location - what more could you want!? See you soon! 😍

Very slow and unfriendly service, who make complaining and rude comments to customers, especially the boss who humiliates and scolds her team in front of everyone, very stressed and inefficient staff (30 minutes to wait for a drink, more than an hour for a very simple meal). Very basic kitchen (more fryer than real cooking). Nice terrace location in the middle of the forest, that’s the advantage of the place. 2 nice young waitresses who tried to catch up with their colleagues, but overall the service really ruined the experience.

Lots of hikers, tons of children and parents on the playground who are very hungry - but no outside sales, no smaller, simple meals “to go”... It's a shame, a big opportunity missed, I think. Unfortunately that was different, I would think about it with a view to the summer and will be curious to see how long the store will be around given the range and prices...

Unfortunately, the exact menus we went for were not available. Wild was completely out. We then ordered other food, roast pork, cordon bleu, so nothing special. The food is good, but the price is completely off the charts. Almost 30 euros for a Cordon Bleu, no matter the size, is grossly exaggerated. The other prices were also completely exaggerated. Very unfortunate

Wir waren gerade erst im Lokal und waren über die Preise geschockt. Früher waren wir schon öfter dort, da uns das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis gefallen hat. Aber jetzt nicht mehr. Beispiele: Wer braucht ein Rumpsteak von 300g zu 44,90 EUR. Auch ein Wildkräutersalat für 28,90 EUR war mir definitiv zu teuer. Das Cordon Blue vom Schwein war sehr groß, was man als Frau überhaupt nicht braucht, aber auch 29,90 EUR gekostet hat. Die Pommes waren nicht knusprig, sondern sehr blass. Es war alles auch etwas lieblos angerichtet. Es gibt wesentlich bessere Restaurants zu etwas günstigeren Preisen. Der junge Kellner war sehr freundlich.

With the best will in the world: fries with ketchup and mayo for €10 are an announcement. You expect a little more than a small portion of metro fries in a bag.

Achtung aufgepasst. Die Portionen mit Schnitzel oder Cordon Blue sind riesig.

Sehr gutes solides Essen und sehr freundliches Personal. Das Ambiente könnte etwas schöner sein. Qualität des Essen gut, aber für 2 Knödel mit Pilzen 22,-€ zu nehmen ist schon ambitioniert. Essen 4,0 Sterne / Personal 4,5 Sterne / Ambiente 3,0 Sterne / Preis 2,5 Sterne. Da Essen für mich mehr zählt als Ambiente habe ich auf 4 Sterne aufgerundet.

Schönes Ambiente, leckeres Essen. Darf dann auch gerne was kosten.

Große Auswahl an Salaten mit Fleisch, Fisch, Gemüse ergänzt und drei Dressings zur Auswahl. Suppen, Wildgerichte, Steaks, Flammkuchen in neuen Variationen. Große Portionen, Übriges kann man mitnehmen. Gute Qualität, Preise angemessen. Geschulte, freundliche Servicemitarbeiter, die auf Wünsche freundlich eingehen. Wir danken für die Gastfreundschaft und die angenehme Atmosphäre bei unserem Treffen nach einer Trauerfeier.

Tolles Restaurant mit wunderschönem Biergarten. Wir waren bereits unzählige Male dort essen und wurden noch nie enttäuscht. Ob Flammkuchen, Wildgerichte, Fisch oder auch vegetarische Gerichte - es ist alles außerordentlich lecker. Der Service ist super freundlich, zügig und aufmerksam.

Das Essen war wirklich sehr lecker und die Portionen großzügig. Ambiente... nich so dolle, aber da lege ich auch keinen so großen Wert drauf. Musik vielleicht bisschen zu laut, aber das habe ich dem Personal auch gegönnt. Für mich persönlich war der Service bisschen zu freundlich. Das wirkt irgendwie aufgesetzt, aber der Laden ist was das Essen angeht, und darum geht es ja, super. Die Spätzle war schmackhaft und kräftig, der dazugehörige Salat groß und abwechslungsreich. Die Bratensoße hatte einen guten Geschmack, Schnitzel war knusprig und saftig. Für mich immer wieder gern.

Wir waren mit einem Betriebsausflug hier mit ca.35 angemeldeten Personen.Mir ist klar,dass das eine sportliche Aufgabe ist,alle Essen bzw.Getränke gleichmässig getaktet an den Kunden zu bringen und das es zu Fehlern kommen kann.Die Frage ist dann halt,wie man mit den gemachten Fehlern umgeht. Bei uns hatte zb. eine Kollegen ein süsses Schorle bestellt,leider kam ein saures an.Nach der Reklamation kam dann ein süsses Schorle,allerdings in einem Glas,das mit Lippenstift verschmiert war.Nach erneuter Reklamation wurde dann allerdings darauf hingewiesen,dass der Lippenstift ja wohl von der Kundin selbst stammen würde.Erst nach dem Hinweis,dass das Glas ja noch immer voll sei,wurde unter Murren das Glas ein drittes mal getauscht. An meinem Tisch wurden 3 mal Schnitzel und einmal saure Leber bestellt,was auch genau so an den Tisch gebracht wurde.Allerdings wurde dazu einmal eine Sauciere mit Bratensosse und einmal eine Sauciere mit zusätzlicher sauerer Sosse an den Tisch gebracht.Es erfolgte allerdings weder ein Hinweis auf die Unterschiede durch den Service,noch war es optisch zu erkennen.Alle Personen,die Schnitzel bestellt hatten,nahmen an,dass alles Bratensosse sei,da die Sosse auch direkt vor ihnen plaziert wurde.Erst nachdem die Schnitzel mit Sosse probiert worden war,wurde bei 2 Personen der saure Geschmack offenbar.Sie versuchten zwar die Sosse abzukratzen und es mit Bratensosse zu übertünchen.aber es war zwecklos. Den Abschluss brachten die Bedienungen nach dem Bezahlen,als es hiess,es sei noch ein Essen offen,dass nicht bezahlt worden war.Wir beteuerten zwar,dass wir alles bezahlt hätten,aber es wurde darauf bestanden,dass wir das zu bezahlen hätten.Die Geschäftsleitung nahm sich dann der Sache an und bezahlte das Essen. Die Kollegen waren sich danach ziemlich einig,hier nicht mehr einzukehren.

Gepflegt, gemütlich, sehr sauber mit wunderschönen echten Blumen auf den Tischen. Super Auswahl an Speisen - konnte mich kaum entscheiden. Mega-leckeres Essen. Wir waren alle begeistert. Bekamen sofort angeboten, was wir nicht mehr schafften mitzunehmen. Überaus freundliches, aufmerksames Personal. Kleine Anregung: Wenn es von den Gerichten auch kleine Portionen gäbe, könnte man noch eines der wahrscheinlich ebenso leckeren Nachspeisen nehmen.

Eine wundervolle Atmosphäre für Feiern / Hochzeiten (v.a. draußen im Sommer). Für verbindliche Absprachen (inhaltlich wie preislich) ist Eigeninitiative im Vorfeld hilfreich. Das Team hat sich sehr viel Mühe gegeben - toller Service, sehr leckeres Essen, kreative Ideen und eine lockere und angenehme Art!

Hm, unklares Bild. Erst kam das Essen, danach die Getränke (obwohl wir schon länger bestellt hatten) und nach geraumer Zeit erst die Beilagensalate, Qualität Ok, Service eher "nebenbei".

Ich würde gerne das Restaurant für eine größere Gesellschaft buchen, doch leider ist in Durlach bekannt, dass kurzfristig aus wirtschaftlichen Gründen hin und wieder abgesagt wird. So geht man mit Gästen nicht um. Essen schmeckt aber teuer.

Wir waren letztes Jahr anlässlich einer Hochzeit im Schützenhaus. von Anfang an lief alles einfach prima - die Planung, die Freiheit bei der Auswahl der Speisen, die gute Beratung, die Unterstützung bei der Vorbereitung, das Mitdenken bei der Deko. Immer war jemand zur Seite, wenn guter Rat gebraucht wurde. Es gab ein großes Entgegenkommen, z.B. als die Freundin der Braut die Hochzeitstorte gebracht hat - es war kein Problem. Wir konnten den Mittag und Nachmittag genau nach unseren Vorstellungen begehen. Das Essen - auch für viele Vegetarier - war hervorragend und der Service schnell, effizient, sehr gut gelaunt und top freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Vorspeisenbutffet war nicht nur lecker, es sah auch so appetitlich und schön aus. Dann konnten wir a la carte essen, was bei 28 Personen auch nicht selbstverständlich ist. Und wie sie es auch immer in der Küche gezaubert haben, wir haben alle gemeinsam gegessen. Wir waren sehr zufrieden und werden immer wieder gerne Gast dort sein. Die Portionen sind wirklich sehr, sehr groß und die Preise ambitioniert. 20% günstiger und dafür angemessene Portionen würde wahrscheinlich noch mehr Gäste anlocken. Die Qualität des Cordon Bleu wahr sehr gut 👍

Schlechtester Service den wir je erlebt haben. Servicekräfte sehr unfreundlich, unkooperativ und völlig übergriffen. Wir waren leider sehr enttäuscht und können das Schützenhaus nicht empfehlen. Zudem steht der Preis in keinem Verhältnis. Absoluter Reinfall und nicht zu empfehlen.

Schöner großer Biergarten. Sehr aufmerksames und freundliches Personal. Gute Auswahl an Gerichten. Besuch lohnt sich. Ca. 800 m hinter der Bergbahn

Das Essen hat gut geschmeckt, die Karte ist abwechslungsreich, es ist für jeden etwas dabei. Es gibt sogar vegane Gerichte. Der Service war sehr freundlich, sogar unser Hund, den wir im Biergarten dabei hatten, wurde ganz lieb behandelt und hat neben Wasser sogar Leckerchen bekommen.
