Restaurant Scheune in Glücksburg (Ostsee)

"Manners like a stable boy" unfortunately describes this "barn" more accurately than I'd like. Apparently, the golden rule there is: if you haven't made a reservation, you're pushed aside like a bale of hay. Several employees seemed to have serious difficulty uttering a simple sentence: "Sorry, we're full." Instead, we were repeatedly pushed to the back of the queue like misplaced hay bales as soon as it became clear we'd shown up without a reservation. We've rarely been treated so rudely. We'd rather not make a reservation anywhere, except perhaps at the vet, where at least you feel welcome. Pride comes before a fall, as they say... and this barn is leaning precariously. To be honest: The food has been decent for the past few months. Humor is no substitute for hospitality...

If you're in Glücksburg, go to the Scheune. This family-run restaurant in the heart of town is so cozy, the food is delicious, and the service is always excellent and friendly. We're regulars here.

Very tasty food, also to take away.

We were fortunate enough to have made a reservation, which is highly recommended. There were six of us, and we ordered five different dishes. Everything arrived simultaneously and within a reasonable timeframe, and it was all excellent. Although the restaurant was quite busy, the service was attentive. We only had to wait a little while for our drinks, but this was perfectly acceptable.

Everyone was very nice, the service was excellent. The food was great. Our four-legged friends were also taken care of. We had nice conversations. I always enjoy coming here. I wish all the staff and the owner all the best. You're great. 😁👍🫶

We managed to get a table during our vacation without a reservation... despite the large number of guests, the staff was very friendly and professional... and we didn't have to wait very long for our food... It was incredibly delicious, and we loved the atmosphere! We felt very comfortable!! TOP!

We reserved a table for four people and received a very friendly welcome with excellent service. The food was delicious, including a special menu for seniors. Unfortunately, I had to pay €2.60 for a glass of tap water, but I also ordered a glass of wine. Therefore, I'm still giving it 5 stars because we felt very comfortable and warmly welcomed. We would gladly come back.

The ambiance is interesting, the service is friendly, the food is very good, and there's always a special menu. The lemonades are excellent; I love the lime and ginger one.

You quickly realize that appearances can be deceiving. As unassuming as it is from the outside (with a tourist information desk on the ground floor), the interior is just as beautifully designed. After climbing the narrow stairs to the first floor, you immediately see the restaurant, decorated with style, love, and expertise. The waiter was also very friendly, and you could immediately tell he enjoyed his job, despite the restaurant being packed. We arrived as walk-ins and managed to snag a table. Some who arrived after us weren't so lucky (so it's better to make a reservation if you're specifically going there). The food arrived very quickly and tasted great. We'll eat there again on our next visit to Glücksburg.

On September 27, 2025, we were able to enjoy a private vegetarian-vegan lunch with our wedding guests in the barn. The ambiance, the food, and the excellent service provided a carefree end to the exciting morning, and everyone was completely satisfied and well-taken care of! We would love to come back and highly recommend the venue!

Great restaurant! Great staff and delicious food

We ate at the Scheune three times between September 14th and 20th, 2025. Making reservations online is super easy and necessary, as if you don't make one, you might be asked to leave. The staff is super friendly, competent, and prompt. Our reservations were confirmed promptly. The atmosphere of the Scheune is fantastic. The food is super delicious, and the price-performance ratio is excellent. - The beef liver is excellent - The plaice is highly recommended - The Viennese pork schnitzel is excellent - The salad with breaded cheese is very tasty - No pictures of the steak variations, and the chicken breast fillet (shame) was very tasty and plentiful - The bruschetta appetizer is super delicious Highly recommended, but you should make a reservation. We went here for dinner yesterday. I have to say, I've rarely eaten such a delicious steak, cooked to perfection. It was absolutely amazing!!! The sauces are all homemade and freshly made. The staff is very friendly and reliable. The restaurant itself is really cool, in my opinion. Thank you so much for making this evening perfect for us!! Unfortunately, I can only give it 5 stars 😢 You definitely deserved more!!

We had three dinners. Unfortunately, the Scheunenburger wasn't impressive: The dish seemed somewhat carelessly presented, the meat under the bun was heavily coated in barbecue sauce, making it mushy. The liver was also overcooked, making it tough, and the fried potatoes were a bit too dark. We'd like to highlight the zander, which was okay.

Excellent food in a wonderful, rustic-modern ambiance. The service is prompt and very courteous. The chef is a textbook host. We'll be back again and again!

A very quaint, rustic restaurant where the food is delicious. My liver was cooked to perfection, and my wife was equally enthusiastic about her cod in mustard sauce. The service staff was always friendly and attentive. We were completely satisfied.

My wife and I had dinner at the barn on August 29, 2025. We received a very friendly welcome and were given a wonderful table. The waiters were very polite and accommodating. We each ordered poultry dishes and, of course, ate them. The meat was exceptionally good. I conclude from the quality that the animals were kept very well. The owner of the restaurant confirmed to us that our meat came from the region and that high animal welfare is taken into account there.

We were on vacation in Glücksburg and discovered the barn by chance. For lunch, we had two meals of pollock fillet with fried potatoes. The food arrived quickly, the pollock fillet was homemade, and it came with the best fried potatoes we've had in years! Highly recommended!

During our two weeks of vacation near Glücksburg, we visited the "Scheune" three times, and each time it was a special treat. The unusual and varied menu, the excellent food, the exceptionally charming staff, and the bright, friendly ambiance with its fantastic play area for children left a lasting impression, so we highly recommend this restaurant!

The food and service were excellent. Very attentive and courteous. I have a wheat intolerance, and it was extremely easy to get my desired starter and main course (fish) wheat-free. I've never experienced anything like that in a restaurant before. Absolutely fantastic – keep it up.

It's amazing that there are so many rave reviews – we must have been unlucky on a Sunday evening, and the kitchen was already in closing time mode… Three meals were just about okay, but also very generously salted. The fourth meal was practically inedible. The spinach was completely oversalted, the rosemary potatoes were floury and overcooked, and the fish had no seasoning at all. The plate was returned more than half full with a complaint. The waiter's only comment was: "I'll pass it on." Otherwise, there was no reaction from the staff – neither an apology nor any other kind of consideration. For a good restaurant with commensurate prices, in my opinion, this is absolutely unacceptable. We used to really like the restaurant. After this evening, we won't be going there again.

We went out to dinner yesterday with our two children (6 and 4). It was a wonderful evening. The food was delicious (fish and apple pie for dessert), the waiter (a third-year apprentice) was very friendly and competent, the restaurant has a beautiful look, and despite the good quality and the rather older clientele, everything was very child-friendly (children's menu and children's play area).

We ate here on our last evening. And I have to say, we couldn't have ended our vacation in Glücksburg any better! The staff was super friendly and the food was amazing.

A classic, home-style restaurant with a touch of Mediterranean cuisine. The very spacious restaurant has been beautifully renovated, although the outdoor area suffers somewhat from the "view" of the parking lot. The restaurant is on the first floor, so don't be put off by the partially empty ground floor. A special thank you goes to the attentive service.

We had a delicious meal there today. On Mondays, they have a special rump steak for just under €20. Two smaller steaks were more than enough. The staff is efficient and very friendly. The atmosphere is also chic.

A Glücksburg restaurant on the upper floor of a former barn. A very pleasant ambiance and friendly service. The food was of excellent quality (we had the antipasta plate and, for the main course, the Sicilian-style rump steak, beef liver, baked potato with herb curd, and spinach spaghetti). The quality and taste of the dishes were excellent; the meat was tender and well-cooked. We had made a reservation in advance, and I would recommend doing so, especially in the evening.

Unfortunately, I can't rate the food yet. We were finally able to order after 20 minutes, and the drink arrived very quickly. We've been waiting another 40 minutes for the appetizer. What about the main course? We'll see... Yes, we've been here for 75 minutes. The appetizer was a goat cheese and a garden salad, too... The drama continues... After a good 1.5 hours, the food finally arrived. After sitting for 15 minutes with our empty plates, we went to the waitress to pay. The food was run-of-the-mill. Conclusion: Visited 3 times, the first, the last, and only time 😩

The renovation was successful, and the kitchen is visible and well integrated into the restaurant. It's best to make a reservation, though, as it can get crowded. The menu selection is good; there should be something for everyone.

We ate there today for my husband's birthday. We had made a reservation in advance and asked for the table we had the day before yesterday. When we arrived, we were assigned a different table. One table was occupied, but others were still free, even in quiet corners. I communicated this, and nothing could be done. We were seated right in the middle. The table wasn't set, despite the reservation. The menu came later. When the drinks were finally taken, I pointed out again that it was a birthday dinner. No reaction from the waiter. When the food arrived later, we had to point out that the cutlery was still missing. Even if it's full, you can expect decent service with a reservation, especially since I mentioned the occasion several times. Guests without reservations were given better tables. The evening left a bitter aftertaste as the end of the vacation. The kitchen deserves high praise. But the service still needs to improve. We don't go out to eat all the time these days, and when we do, I expect a pleasant evening. Be happy about every vacationer who stays with you.

Hello everyone, We had lunch at the Scheune in Glücksburg today. We had reserved a table in advance via Google, and it worked out great. The service was really friendly and prompt. We felt at home. There was a small children's table near the kitchen and a shelf with a few books. For dinner We had a plate of homemade fish fingers with mashed potatoes and nuggets with fries and some salad for our kids. They ate both without hesitation and with great pleasure :-) We had the Scheuneburger, which I thought was a bit too sweet but nonetheless delicious and topped with a good paste. We also had the Spaghetti Bruschetta – I would order it again in a heartbeat. For dessert, we had a creme brulee and a children's ice cream sundae each. As mentioned, I would order every dish again and eat here again on my next visit to Glückstadt. With that in mind, enjoy your meal!

My wife and I eat vegan. Both vegan dishes were excellent and very tasty. The service and atmosphere are very pleasant, relaxed, and friendly. However, there is also non-vegan food. Overall, the concept is very open to vegan and vegetarian food and clearly states that these dishes can also be hearty and delicious. I highly recommend it!

Go up a flight of stairs and you'll find yourself in a large room with a high ceiling. Rustic, with beams and thatch. The food is down-to-earth and skillfully prepared. The service friendly and attentive. It's all ok!

The atmosphere is very cozy and the waiter was super friendly and attentive. The vegan schnitzel tastes very good, and the penne in Gorgonzola sauce is also very tasty. The portions are extremely generous; the noodles, for example, would have easily been enough for two. Finally, I ordered a scoop of ice cream and, as a precaution, I was informed that the flavor I ordered was not vegan. Really very good service.

Wir waren am 08.02.2025 mit der Familie in diesem Restaurant essen und hatten uns auf einen schönen Abend gefreut. Positiv hervorzuheben ist das freundliche Servicepersonal, das sich bemüht hat. Leider reicht das nicht aus, um unseren Besuch positiv zu bewerten. Wir mussten über eine Stunde auf unser Essen warten, und auch das Nachbestellen von Getränken war eine Herausforderung, da das Personal schlichtweg überfordert schien. Als das Essen dann endlich kam, war es fast durchgehend kalt, viele Speisen waren versalzen und das Rumpsteak so zäh, dass es ungenießbar war. Es ist wirklich schade, denn dieses Restaurant war früher bekannt für seine exzellente Küche – das kann man inzwischen leider nicht mehr behaupten. Hoffentlich bessert sich die Qualität wieder, aber derzeit können wir es nicht weiterempfehlen.

Went to the barn again today and my son and I ordered a nice Husum steak (medium). The starter we ordered was forgotten and both steaks were raw. After asking if I wanted to take my starter home with me, the same meat came back just as raw after 2 minutes. This was the 2nd and last time. But we were allowed to pay for the side dishes.

We ate here twice. Service and atmosphere are good, unfortunately the food is very bad. The gratinated shepherd's cheese was really inedibly salty and the fish was incredibly dry. The only juicy thing here is the prices.

We were there for the third time now and are always pleasantly surprised at how friendly and attentive everyone there is. The food for 15 people came to the table quickly and warm.

Unseren einwöchigen Herbsturlaub haben wir zu sechst im wunderschönen Glücksburg verbracht und waren positiv überrascht, dass ein so kleines Städtchen über so viele Lokalitäten verfügt. In der Scheune wurden wir freundlich empfangen und den ganzen Abend vom jungen Personal mit viel guter Laune versorgt. Mit dem Essen, u.a. hatten wir die Scholle, Matjes „Hausfrauen Art“, aber auch zwei Mal den Scheune Burger und vegetarische Speisen bestellt, waren alle sehr zufrieden. Auch die Getränkeauswahl ließ keine Wünsche offen. Wir fühlen uns rundum wohl und gut aufgehoben und kommen gerne mal wieder vorbei.

Oh well. I had promised myself more. The fried potatoes weren't cooked through. Actually a fish platter with 3 different types. It was very difficult to tell the varieties apart. When a man is very hungry, he will not be satisfied. The portions are sufficient for women. A large group of alleged politicians were waiting for their place. They were crowded together at our table, loud and getting closer and closer. A few centimeters away from the waiting guests, a conversation was no longer possible. I had the feeling they were looking at our plates. I would have liked more attention from the waitress as one of the bullies was sitting with his butt almost leaning against our table. Nobody stopped this. It should be a special evening for us. So the disappointment is really big.

Overall disappointing, despite the many positive reviews that led us to visit this restaurant. The fish was properly cooked but bland and even the white wine sauce didn't make it any better. The finished fried potatoes were a hybrid between boiled and fried potatoes with a few crumbs of bacon and possibly an onion ring. The sauce was OK. The service was very friendly, but unfortunately failed to keep arriving local politicians away from our table, who had been sitting on our table for a good quarter of an hour because they had to wait for their seats. The cozy evening for my birthday was ruined unnecessarily but thoroughly. If you like it loud, this is the place for you.

Sehr freundliches Personal, haben sich viel Mühe gegeben um uns einen Platz für 4 Personen ohne Reservierung zu geben. Ich habe mich für das Seelachsfilet entschieden, das war an dem Abend nicht wirklich eine gute Wahl, die Bratkartoffeln waren nicht durch und lauwarm, der Seelachs hingegen war sehr heiß, aber auch trocken, für mein Geschmack zulange in der Fritteuse gewesen. Das Essen der anderen war hingegen gut, hier wurden aber leider die Beilagensalate vergessen.

Cozy restaurant with a nice atmosphere. You will be welcomed and served very friendly. The food came quickly when we visited and we never had to wait long. The prices are within normal limits. We can recommend the chili bread as a starter, it is very tasty. We ate different dishes (fish, meat, pasta...) and we didn't have anything to complain about with any of them. Even our son (very picky) ;) could always find something on the menu and was satisfied. During our vacation in Glücksburg we always try to eat there at least once. But you should reserve a table in advance, especially on weekends. Parking spaces are available directly in front of the restaurant. The restaurant is on the first floor.

Very nice atmosphere, the shop is really cozy inside. Very nice service. Some of the food is higher priced, but it is very tasty and the portions are good. We had the zucchini schnitzel and the chicken breast and for dessert the speculoos cheesecake - it was a real dream! The drinks (Sarti Spritz and lager) were ok.
