A chance encounter during a visit to Hamburg. We got a table without a reservation on a Saturday evening. Very friendly and accommodating staff. The table in the middle course was very special and absolutely fantastic. The view into the kitchen was fantastic, and you could see how well the entire kitchen and service team worked together. Chapeau! The food was just as delicious. Homemade beetroot ravioli and a dessert prepared with lots of love. Absolutely delicious. We'll be back...

Very expensive in price-performance ratio

Warning: Absolutely unacceptable – never again Rexrodt Hamburg! We ate at the Rexrodt restaurant for around €200 – and ended up getting sick. One of the biggest restaurant mistakes I've ever experienced. For our appetizer, we ordered, among other things, a fresh artichoke to share. When we got to the heart and removed the hairs, something that looked like rotten mold emerged – bluish-green, velvety, and absolutely inedible. We immediately informed the server. Her reaction: "I'll have the kitchen check it out." What happened next was simply unbelievable: She brought us back the same artichoke and explained that this was normal for young artichokes. As someone who often and happily eats fresh artichokes, I can only say: This was definitely not normal. It looked like cream cheese had been left open in the refrigerator for weeks. We were unsettled and said to ourselves, "Okay, maybe we're exaggerating." A fatal mistake. Because: A few hours later, we both vomited. Mold. Absolutely. And yes – we took a photo before eating it. The evidence speaks for itself. But that's not all: A few days later, we wanted to objectively describe the incident on site. The reaction? A wave of the hand, a smile, denial. No apology. No insight. No responsibility. In addition: * Dry bread and a completely insignificant, bad dip to start with. * A 2.5-hour wait for the main course. * Service was abysmal, overwhelmed, and disinterested. Conclusion: If you want to do something good for yourself – avoid Rexrodt. Serving mold, ignoring complaints, sending guests home sick, and then making excuses – that's not just unprofessional, it's dangerous. When we got to the heart and removed the hairy part, we noticed something that looked exactly like mold – bluish-green, velvety, clearly rotten. We immediately informed the waitress. She said, "I'll check with the kitchen." What happened next was unbelievable: she brought the same artichoke heart back and told us "that’s normal for a young artichoke."
I’ve eaten countless fresh artichokes in my life – I’ve never seen anything like this. It looked exactly like cream cheese that’s been left open in the fridge for weeks. Same texture, same color. Disgusting. We didn’t want to make a scene and thought, “Okay, maybe we’re overreacting.” That was a big mistake.
Because a few hours later, we both had to throw up. It was mold. Without any doubt. And yes – we took a picture before eating it. The evidence is clear. But here’s the worst part: A few days later, we went back to the restaurant to calmly share what happened. Their reaction? Laughter. Denial. No apology. No responsibility. Just brushed us off. To make things even worse: * The bread was dry, the dip completely tasteless. * We waited 2.5 hours for our main courses. * Service was slow, uninterested, and unprofessional. Final verdict: If you care about your health – stay far away from Rexrodt.
Serving mold, ignoring complaints, making guests sick, then gaslighting them afterward – this isn’t just unacceptable, it’s dangerous. A serious warning!

My husband and I love this restaurant. The kitchen is fantastic. New creations are constantly being conjured up. The ambience with the tiles and the high ceilings is beautiful.

Richtig gutes Essen, sehr schön drapiert, nicht zu hochpreisig in den Räumen einer alten Schlachterei. Tolles Ambiente. Lohnt sich unbedingt.

Big disappointment!!! We had been looking forward to Hamburg's best (and most expensive) wienerschnitzel. Great was the disappointment. The small schnitzel was deep-fried, the potatoes were from a can and not pan-fried at all. Accompanying cucumber salad was osse prefabrikata. It was all way too salty! Was hoping a chocolate dessert would make up for it, but it wasn't good and the ice cream actually tasted very bad… We think it is difficult to complain on the spot, as it will spoil the good atmosphere. Fortunately, the Spanish red wine was good.🥂 The restaurant is very nice. The very young girls provide great service. Too bad the quality of the food doesn't match the price at all!

Best in town: if you feel like and have an appetite for a real “Wiener Schnitzel”, this is the right place for you! Wonderfully tender with fluffy breading and delicious potato and cucumber salad. Plus a Veltliner! The four of us enjoyed the evening. As always, this also applies to the very friendly and attentive service and the wonderful historical ambience on the Uhlenhorst.

5* for interior and atmosphere First, we ordered a steak medium rare - with meat being the most expensive thing on the menu, you'd expect it to be cooked to perfection. Instead, the steak was tough, with a gray edge on the outside and too raw on the inside. It seemed like it was fried far too quickly and hot, which explained the toughness. At such a high price, we would have expected much more care and craftsmanship. Even dessert couldn't save the situation. My dish should contain a classic crème patisserie. Instead of the expected creamy consistency, which is created by cooking the starch correctly, we received a mass that was far too soft and airy and tasted neither of vanilla nor of eggs. It seemed like a simple, inexpertly mixed mass that didn't remotely resemble a crème patisserie. Unfortunately, the service also contributed to our disappointing experience. We received no competent answers to questions about the wine. Instead of receiving recommendations for suitable wines, we were simply read the names from the menu without any further information. When the inedible steak partially went back, there wasn't even an inquiry as to why or if something was wrong. We expect things like this to be standard in a restaurant. The request to remove fresh herbs from the dish was noted but simply ignored. We had to ask ourselves each time instead of the service taking this into account on their own. To make matters worse, the waitress also seemed to be convinced that everything could be made up for by constantly smiling and using an exaggeratedly high-pitched voice. This way of making the situation “cute” only made things more awkward. If you can't provide expert answers, smiling all the time won't help. Last but not least, we noticed that other guests were also complaining, but instead of taking the criticism seriously, they were told that the service was overloaded because of a closed party in the next room. That may be true, but it shouldn't be at the expense of the other guests.

Thanks to the kitchen/service team: another convincing gastronomic experience. You won't be disappointed at Rexrodt!

Truly excellent food and very friendly service. A very high standard, even surpassing that of well-known luxury hotels. The only minor flaw: When it's busy, it's quite loud (probably due to the wall tiles, which, while very decorative, reflect sound rather than absorb it) – but that's just complaining at a high level ;-)

The food at Rexrodt in Hamburg was outstanding! The Wiener Schnitzel is definitely one of the best in Hamburg – perfectly prepared and delicious. The rack of lamb was also a delight, and the dessert rounded off the experience wonderfully. The restaurant is located in a former butcher's shop and impresses with its special ambiance: Art Nouveau tiles, cherubs, and a beautiful glass ceiling create a unique atmosphere. A thoroughly enjoyable evening; we'd love to come back!

The food was delicious. The service and ambiance were particularly excellent! The dishes were unusual, something different.

The very good food was marred by the poor service. We had to wait a very long time for our food as the orders and tables were mixed up. The nice ambience doesn't really help either. Overall, unfortunately a bit disappointing.

Great experience. The food was varied and interesting, definitely not run-of-the-mill. My wife's allergies were not only taken into account, but they also went the extra mile and adapted everything. Portion size appropriate. Not cheap but the price fits the experience. Service extremely attentive without being intrusive. You could tell that the colleague really wanted to give her guests a great evening.

The schnitzel was very salty and so was the potato salad, you felt like you were eating salt.

It was so nice!! Super good food, delicious artichoke, perfect schnitzel and a cozy atmosphere. The waiters were very friendly, made great wine recommendations and generally it was a lot of fun!! Plus there are great pictures hanging everywhere! It couldn't be better - we can only recommend it!

At the beginning the service was nice and very attentive, but after 9:30 p.m. the shop was empty and the impatience of the staff was clearly noticeable. Menu short and concise, which promised a lot but delivered disappointment in three courses - as a starter a roasted artichoke with 2 dips - a funny looking gag, an exciting starter with mediocre taste. The main course - a steak fries for €45, with 8 thick fries like fish & chips and a completely inappropriate guacamole. For €10 less, my partner was able to enjoy a fairly normal schnitzel at “Parisian Ambiente”. The three desserts sounded so boring that I didn't take any. The creation my partner ordered was overpriced, undersized and unspectacular. In the end, salvation came from the increasing impatience and the annoyed staff puffing in front of the bar and the bill of €120 per person (€600 in total). With the money we could have eaten out twice at our favorite Italian restaurant, where both the food and the service would have been significantly better. Compact menu - yes, if you have a few great dishes. Not a big hit if you have a few dishes that aren't great. Annoyed staff and empty restaurants from 9:30 p.m. - now the order of the day in Hamburg.

Very nice restaurant with excellent cuisine

I was able to get to know the restaurant today as I was a guest of the closed society. I think there were around 40 of us and there was a 4 course menu. The menu was great, the soup was unforgettable, the service was attentive and friendly. Great evening!!!

The service was great, the ambience - it's very pretty Anett was very loud due to the tiled walls. The food (we had fish and pasta) wasn't worth the price. Boring and bland. For the price I eat much better elsewhere or I can get it cheaper in other restaurants.

Ich war auf Einladung wirklich guter Freunde zu einem Weihnachtsessen mit einer grösseren Gruppe hier. Und es war ein kulinarisches Erlebnis. Vorweg gab‘s ein fabelhaftes Makrelenfilet, ich fand das Holsteiner Rehragout schlicht zum Verlieben. Und die Oldenburger Ente sah auch Klasse aus. Extra Highlight: die Käseplatte zum Dessert - leider vergessen zu fotografieren. Der Service war perfekt und die Küche war unglaublich durchgetaktet: trotz grosser Gruppe war das Menu des Hauses so üppig, dass wir fast schon à la carte wählen konnten. Trotzdem wurden alle Gänge gleichzeitig serviert. Hut ab!

Great Christmas menu. I was here at the invitation of really good friends for a Christmas dinner with a larger group. And it was a culinary experience. First of all there was a fabulous mackerel fillet, I simply fell in love with the Holstein venison ragout. And the Oldenburg duck also looked great. Extra highlight: the cheese platter for dessert - unfortunately I forgot to take a photo. The service was perfect and the kitchen was incredibly well-planned: despite the large group, the menu was so extensive that we could almost choose à la carte. Nevertheless, all courses were served at the same time. Hats off!

Wiener Schnitzel ist ein Traum!

Wir haben ein Abendessen eingenommen und waren sehr zufrieden. Die Kürbissuppe mit Kokosschaum und Garnele war fein abgeschmeckt und die Kokosnote nicht zu dominant. Das Rehragout im Hauptgang war vorzüglich geschmort mit einer wunderbaren Jus. Das Püree war cremig (vielleicht einen Tick zu cremig) aber sehr schmackhaft. Wir hätten uns noch eine fruchtige Note zum Wild gewünscht, aber das soll keine Kritik sondern nur eine Anregung sein. Die Creme Brulee mit Thymian war erwartungsgemäß ebenfalls sehr gut. Mein Primitivo (als offener Wein) konnte meine Erwartungen erfüllen. Der Service ist aufmerksam, freundlich und professionell. Auch das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis erscheint uns für das Gebotene angemessen. Insofern ein empfehlenswertes Restaurant.

Kein Restaurant zum "schnell was essen gehen"! Hier kommst du her, wenn du Zeit hast, gute freundliche Menschen mitbringst und Lust auf nicht alltägliche Gerichte hast.

Very accommodating service and great food

Ich dachte, im Rextrodt Hamburg-Uhlenhorst gute Kässpätzle zu bekommen. Weit gefehlt. Es handelt sich hier nicht um "Spätzle" (Teig per Hand gehobelt oder geschabt), sondern um eine Mini-Portion Nudeln aus der Tüte, mit einem Hauch von Käse, einfache Pilzsoße, und last but not least dazu ein kleines Schälchen welker Salat, das war's für 17 (siebzehn) Euro. Also mit Kässpätzle hat das ganze nichts zu tun. Käse-Nudeln wäre die richtige Bezeichnung im Höchstfall. Bedienung☹️

Endlich haben wir -spontan- zum Mittag einen Tisch reserviert. Die liebevoll mit Hand geschriebene Menükarte ist übersichtlich und auf saisonale Gerichte fokussiert. Der freundliche Service hat unsere Bestellung aufgenommen und relativ zügig gebracht. Alles sehr frisch und mit viel Liebe und Details angerichtet. Alles wirklich geschmackvoll. Man lässt sich viel mehr Zeit beim Essen als sonst, da man die Feinheiten herausschmecken möchte. Das Lokal ist zu dieser Zeit mit vielen Stammgästen gefüllt, was immer ein gutes Zeichen ist. Gerne wieder!

Super Essen .Wir kommen auch gerne Mittags zum Essen hierher.Aber egal ob Mittags oder Abends es ist immer sehr nett und schmeckt lecker.

Wir sind vor einem Regenguss in das Restaurant geflüchtet und wollen lediglich einen Tee zum aufwärmen trinken. Das wurde uns gerne gewährt, was keine Selbstverständlichkeit ist. Vielen Dank an den Service für einen sehr angenehmen Abend, der dann doch noch länger gedauert hatte.

Zeer slechte ervaring; eten was middelmatig van kwaliteit en vreselijk duur voor wat het is. Blijkbaar waren we te lang bezig aan het hoofdgerecht en werd mijn bord door de serveerster gewoon weggetrokken voor ik klaar was. Diezelfde serveerster heeft bovendien onterecht teveel fooi genomen. Bovenop de fooi die we gaven werd de fooi nog eens verdubbeld, zonder dat we hier vanaf wisten. Ze dacht waarschijnlijk dat we toeristen waren die toch nooit meer terug kwamen, dus dan maar wat meer fooi toe-eigenen. Het leed was al geschied toen de betaling per kaart al was gedaan. Veel geld kwijt en dan ook nog eens matig eten. Een keer en nooit meer.

Ich kenne das Rexrodt seit Jahren und habe dort einige sehr schöne Abende verbracht. Die Küche war zwar übersichtlich aber zu jeder Zeit erstklassig und es wurde immer sehr freundlich serviert. Das Ambiente ist nach wie vor sehr gemütlich. Pariser Style. Aber es hat anscheinend vor einiger Zeit ein Wechsel in der Küche stattgefunden. Die gereichten Speisen entsprachen leider nicht mehr meinen Erwartungen. Es tut mir deshalb leid, ich werde Abstand von einem erneuten Besuch nehmen müssen.

Großartiges Essen in angenehmer (familiärer) Atmosphäre. Wir waren das erste Mal im Rexrodt und das Restaurant hat uns überzeug. Wer einen Tisch für einen besonderen Abend sucht, sollte hier vorbeischauen. Uns hat es sehr gefallen. Der Service ist sehr aufmerksam und das Essen hat uns geschmeckt. Die Portionen könnten mMn etwas größer sein – das liegt jedoch im Auge des Betrachters. Weiterhin viel Erfolg!

Ich war lange nicht dort gewesen. Es war im sehr positiven Sinne, wie immer: sehr lecker, reichlich, sehr schön, nie aufdringlich. Klasse. Danke für den schönen Abend.

Schade Schade - Hier hat sich leider die Küche total verschlechtert. 2 Punkte für den Service Wir hatten Geflämmter Thunfisch. Leider waren die kleinen Schnipsel Thunfisch alt, durchgebraten und kalt - nur endtauschend ! Das blasse Wiener Schnitzel war auch nicht der der Kracher. Mann hatte fast das Gefühl, das es in der Fritteuse gebraten wurde. Kartoffelsalat naja - hier kann der Koch auch noch etwas lernen.

Super nettes Personal, tolle Location Vorspeise und Nachspeise schmeckte perfekt. Hätte man gleich nochmal bestellen können. Schokovariation ein Traum. Hauptgang Fleich genial , die Beilagen gewöhnungsbedürftig. Aber man kann nicht alles mögen . Salate super und alles perfekt angerichtet. Getränke tolle Auswahl.

Das Rexrodt ist immer wieder einen Besuch wert. Die Speisen sind hochwertig und toll abgeschmeckt, der Service ist zuvorkommend und das Ambiente stimmt.

Wunderschönes Restaurant mit kleiner Karte. Dafür exzellente Gerichte auf hohem Niveau. Und der Service ist superfreundlich.

Immer wieder lecker und die Portionen sind perfekt so abgestimmt, dass man sich durch drei Gänge naschen kann.

Wir haben kürzlich im Rexrodt unsere Hochzeit gefeiert und waren restlos begeistert! Das Restaurant hat eine wunderschöne Jugendstil-Atmosphäre und ist gut mit Bus und Bahn zu erreichen. Die Planung unserer Feier im Vorfeld war dank Frau Nielsen vollkommen stressfrei. Unser herbstliches Menü war wie erwartet sehr lecker (insbesondere die Suppe und der Nachtisch haben allen Gästen sehr gut geschmeckt!) und all unsere Extrawünsche wurden umgesetzt (veganes/vegetarisches Menü für einige Gäste, Unverträglichkeiten). Auch der Service ließ nichts zu wünschen übrig. Besser hätte unsere Feier nicht verlaufen können. Wir haben uns rundum wohl gefühlt und kommen gerne wieder!
