Bullerei in Hamburg

Absolute highlight and MUST DO in Hamburg. Culinary-wise absolutely worth the price. Tim Mälzer also popped in ;-) I'll be back!!

We had lunch here and were pleasantly surprised. The menu was varied. There were Japanese, American and Italian dishes. We have Udon Carbonara, Caesar Salad and Tonkatsu Sando. The carbonara was good, very creamy, but the twist was missing. If you only ate the dish alone, it would be too one-sided in the long run. The salad was fresh. My personal highlight was the Tonkatsu Sando. This is a sandwich with super tender pork, the meat is cooked so well. Crispy breading, cooked to perfection, and a subtle citrus note in the sauce. It was so incredibly delicious that my mouth is watering as I write this review. There are also fries, unfortunately not all of them were crispy. And what was also super cool, we saw Tim Mälzer 😍 I would come back here for the sandwich (5/5) and would also like to try other dishes.

My sushi bowl with salmon, eel, caviar, avocado... simply top class! And the beef tartare beforehand was the best I've ever eaten. We'll be back!"

The menu selection was quite limited. We had to wait two hours for our food. One between salad and main course, one between main course and dessert. By the way, dessert was a scoop of ice cream. It could be quicker, but who knows, maybe you'll pay for the time you get to sit there.

Delicious, delicious! The food in the Bullerei tastes really good! Everyone will find the right food for themselves there. From local cuisine to great street food. A visit is simply part of a Hamburg holiday. We got a great place and without a reservation. What luck. The employees are super friendly and totally accommodating. I was even given a small ice cream to go.

We really liked it in the Bullerei. We particularly liked the service staff; everything was explained very well and understandably and they were happy to help if we had any questions. We had the 3 and 4 course menu, everything was very well coordinated and beautifully prepared. Unfortunately we sat a bit apart and therefore had a not so nice atmosphere. The table was made of plastic and had a cutting board look, in my opinion not suitable for such a restaurant. But all in all it was worth a visit. That's why we give it 4 stars.

Wir hatten eine Reservierungssnummer und standen am Counter. Dort erklärte man uns, dass es eine weitere Bestätigung geben müsste. Diese hatten wir nicht. Im Vorfeld hatten wir mehrfach versucht im Restaurant eine Bestätigung zu holen, Vergeblich! Die Bullerei telefonisch nicht erreichbar. Es gibt einen Hinweis eine Mail zu schreiben.Daraufhin erhielten wir keine Antwort.Schlimm war, dass wir extra aus Berlin angereist waren und fast um den Tisch flehten. Kein Erbarmen, kein Interesse an einer Lösung. Die Empfehlung war ein anderes Restaurant aufzusuchen.Ganz schlechter Stil.

Man sollte ja immer mit dem positiven beginnen, das Olivenöl war sehr gut. Das Brot welches gereicht wurde war komplett verbrannt schwarz nachdem ich dies dem sehr freundlichen Ober mitteilte meinte dieser die Brote seien alle so. Wir bestellen ein Flanken Steak also ein Stück Bauchfleisch vom Rind um 44 Euro mit ordinären Tiefkühl Pommes um 7 Euro für 200 Gramm die Kräuter- Butter war eine aufgeschlagene Margarine mit Geschmack und der Beilagen Salat ein Fingerhut, aber jetzt zur Krönung ich bestelle es Mediumrare bekommen habe ich es Rare es kommt noch besser meine Frau bestellte ein Filet Steak mit der Bitte es Medium well zu braten und es kam auch Rare. Lieber Herr Mälzer wenn ich für ein Filet 66 Euro bezahle dann sollte ihr Rottiseur die verschiedenen garstufen perfekt beherrschen. Zusammen gefasst ist es leider ein sehr enttäuschendes Erlebnis

Das Essen war hervorragend. Und der Service war mindestens genauso so gut. Angenehm unaufdringliche Musik im Hintergrund. Ein rundum gelungener Abend.

Am letzten Freitag habe ich mit Gästen die Bullerei besucht. Freundlicher Empfang, schöner Tisch. Meine Gäste haben das Überraschungs-Menue bestellt meine Frau und ich etwas von der Karte. Das Essen war OK, aber kein Highlight. Wir hatten einen sehr netten Abend und haben dazu 2 Flaschen Châteauneuf du PaPe a 119€ genossen. Der Sommelier war kompetent, die Kellnerin die uns betreute war flink und aufmerksam. Zum Schluss muss ja gezahlt werden, die Kellnerin fragte, Bar oder Karte, ich entschied mich für Bar und gab Ihr einen 500€ Schein, denn der Rechnungsbetrag war 460€ und weil sie sehr gut war, gab ich den Rest als Trinkgeld. Doch dann kam es ganz dick….. Sie kam zurück und sagte“ sie könnten den 500€-Schein nicht annehmen !! Das überraschte mich und was sollten meine Gäste denken ? Das ich ein Falschgeld Dealer bin !! Ich war sehr verärgert !! Das in solch einer Situation nicht mal der Restaurantleiter erschien !! Nur zur Info, ab Ende 2018 werden keine 500€ Scheine bei Banken mehr ausgegeben, sind aber nach wie vor ein gültiges Zahlungsmittel. Der Herr Mälzer der auf seinen Fernsehshow immer ‘nen starken Spruch drauf hat, sollte seinem Restaurant einen Geldschein-Prüfgeräte, gibt es für 60€, spendieren, denn zur Info 37% aller Geldfälschungen sind 50€ Scheine, 35% sind 20€ Scheine. Nach diesem Erlebnis werde ich die Bullerei nicht mehr betreten.

That was our second visit. We always made long-term reservations in advance. Our first visit was really great, also got 5 ⭐️. The second visit was overall bad. Again, we didn’t sit in the “main” area, but this time in the lowered “ugly” area. I don't know what you have to do to sit in the nice area. When I asked, I was told “it’s a matter of luck, you can’t make a reservation”. This time the service staff was just like that. We are over 50 and can no longer hear as well as we used to, partly due to the loud noise level overall. So when we ask various times what we're being told, we could speak a little louder... unfortunately that didn't work the whole evening. On our last visit, when we sat in the anteroom directly in the entrance area, it was much better, also thanks to the staff (no whisperers) For food - surprise menu. Yes, we were surprised at how bad the menu was compared to the first visit. In summary - bad evening, bad ambience, sometimes bad, inattentive staff, food absolutely not a highlight, price/performance ratio 1 ⭐️.

Can I recommend this place? Bullerei 2025 I was there. OK . What can you say... I can say that I was there. The ambience is a matter of taste - there is a lot to see. The service was good and the waiter was very attentive. Food pfff we had lunch and I could have. .. the appetizer platter was meant to be shared and enjoyed well. However, anyone who likes to cook themselves may have been disappointed. Pickled mushrooms 🍄 (no, not those) with black cumin and sesame, onion with ras al hanut, pickled peppers, 2 slices of toasted cold bread are somehow not the taste buds. Ok, it wasn't bad, but nothing great. Afterwards there were 3 skewers with fries. 1 beef skewer, 1 chicken skewer and 1 tata small green bitter (we all need bitter substances ok) pepper skewer. Unfortunately, 1 beef skewer was too dark. The fries were great. And the ketchup is awesome 🔨. All in all, I would have expected more. Unfortunately, the name alone doesn't do it...summary. We've eaten better. We probably expected too much. We were there at lunchtime and therefore only rate our experience. Tim 2025 we were there

During a spontaneous stay in Hamburg we wanted to have lunch here. We were there around 12 p.m. and within a very short time the restaurant was very full. The service was very attentive and friendly. I chose the ramen and was very happy with the taste. I just think it could be a little better visually. Overall, I would definitely come again.

Disappointing considering the high prices. The food was good, but not particularly creative, nor was it beautifully presented. Our birthday child didn't even get a flower or anything like that. Wine was 0.1 instead of 0.2 liters and therefore far too expensive.

Highly recommended! Both the surprise menu and the dishes on the menu. The sourdough bread on the house at the beginning is awesome!

Every gear is well thought out and perfectly coordinated. The service is attentive, professional and creates a pleasant atmosphere. Added to this is the stylish ambience – modern, but designed with a lot of charm and attention to detail. The surprise menu is particularly recommended: an exciting journey through the kitchen that delights with sophisticated flavor combinations. Yes, it has its price, but the quality, enjoyment and the special flair absolutely justify it.

We were at the Bullerei at lunchtime. We really liked the atmosphere, the service was attentive and friendly. Unfortunately the food was quite disappointing. Descriptions sound great, but what ends up on the plate is average at best and quite expensive. We won't be coming back.

Food was great, but also very expensive. Unfortunately the boss wasn't there. That would probably have distracted us from the poor service. I also expect professional service in a restaurant in this price range. Apparently our waitress was a newly trained temporary worker, very inattentive and intrusive in her tone. I'm too old for this forced you. Unfortunately, that dampened the mood.

My partner and I went to the Bullerei for the first time on Monday. Just walking in has a great atmosphere. The service is very attentive and courteous. A lot of time is taken when picking up the food and drinks, there is no rush in this restaurant and the service seems to really enjoy their work. Just great! My friend had the shoulder with the puree and I had the mushroom risotto. To this day he raves about the food and how good it was. The risotto was also very tasty. For dessert there was spaghetti ice cream. I love ice cream and this absolutely convinced me, it was homemade and tasted excellent. All in one a successful evening. Many thanks to the team!

We were guests at the Bullerei today and give it a 10+. The atmosphere is super cozy, the service team is super friendly and the food can't be beat. Only Tim Mälzer was missing on site, which was a shame. Of course we'll be back.

Visiting Hamburg and of course a visit to Tim Mälzer in the Bullerei couldn't be missed. And then I was rewarded with pure umami. The Tantanmen Ramen dish was amazing! If you enjoy strong and full-bodied flavors, you have to try them. First of all, a Japanese-style beef tartare, which is also highly recommended. Pleasant service and an interesting ambience in the restaurant ultimately round everything off. Many thanks to the Bullerei and see you next time!

Definitely worth a visit. Had lunch at the deli. Good card. Prices are okay. Very friendly service. The food was good to very good. Portions not huge but sufficient.

Bullerei, very nice restaurant in the Schanzenviertel, were there on the occasion of a trip to Hamburg. Locally exceptionally furnished with very good service!! We were very satisfied there, and Tim Mälzer has good taste, the food was very good!!

We were at the deli for lunch. Here you are immediately greeted and instructed by very friendly staff. The service was always there without being intrusive. The food was extremely tasty. (We had the Undon Carbonara) These noodles don't warm me up - I just don't like the consistency - but the carbonara was extremely good. The ice cream sundae afterwards was just as great! The ambience is - I would say - extraordinary. I'm over 40 and it was somehow too much... of everything for me. I didn't know where to look. The wall is full of colorful pictures, there are figures in unrelated designs everywhere. For me personally it was too overwhelming. But it suits the young people in service and also makes the visit a visual experience. We will definitely come back on our next visit to Hamburg. PS: Finding a parking space is rather difficult. I would like to see better signage on the site.

Went to the deli for lunch on Saturday January 26th, 2025. A long-held dream, as I listen passionately to Fiete Gastro & enjoy following Kitchen when time permits. I had a completely different picture of the bully in my head. I was briefly overwhelmed by all the highlights, but very impressed. Service staff were absolutely top notch, unfortunately I didn't ask for their names, but both were wonderfully calm, professional, funny... everything you'd expect and far beyond. For food: great menu! A composition from home and all over the world, I would have loved to try everything. Very impressive! Our starters were particularly memorable. The spicy & velvety tartare with this world-class sourdough bread 😋🤪 The homemade kimchi, the pickled mushrooms & the marinated pumpkin... The main courses, I had the ramen and got to try the karaage 😋😋😋 What I would also like to mention is the great room climate. It was packed and yet you could still have a conversation at the table without hearing the neighboring tables. The music accompanies the whole thing without disturbing you. Crazy, how does it work with the concrete walls and ceilings? Price-performance is more than okay, I would even say too cheap for what is offered. Our conclusion: definitely worth one or more visits, next time we'll definitely come in the evening to try out the main restaurant, unfortunately we weren't able to do that this time. Had to test the bianc, which was highly praised by Tim in the Potcast.

We always drive up from Aschaffenburg to eat because it's just great. We had planned it again for my wife's birthday and were now able to see H. Mälzer himself for the first time in his house and after a short while I was able to pressure him to take a picture with my Ollen. But the best thing was, when I ran towards him, he first complained... don't talk to me... exactly my sense of humor. I hope he stays as he is, the second-rate takeaway chef.

The ambience: cheerful, funny, cozy The service: very communicative, very friendly (everyone!!), perfect! The dishes: no matter whether “like with nuts” (beef goulash) or Asian… super tasty and to the point. The mustard onsen egg is a delight (my personal highlight). So different and yet so familiar - delicious! We were there in the evening with a reservation and at the deli the next day - everything was perfect. Will come back (not a threat 😉). Thank you for the great hours and the fantastic taste experience!

It was my first time with Tim. It looks good inside. Modern and everything fits. Calm, not hectic. The service was really good. Great explanations, you can laugh along too. Really, really good. We felt comfortable and it just tasted really good. Thank you very much for the experiences.

Spent a very nice evening in the Bullerei. The 4 course surprise menu was our choice and it was really delicious. The dessert was a bit too powerful and the waiter's remark “I wouldn't eat it either” was one of the points of devaluation. Toilet was ok but not really TOP clean. The atmosphere is really special and even on Monday it is full of guests.

We've been there three times now, unfortunately the quality is getting worse for this price. Short ribs were so fatty that you couldn't eat them. As an apology there were 4 schnapps. A joke with 4 people and a bill of €390

I invited a good friend there for his birthday and I was really blown away - food, service, ambience: everything was top notch! He even got a little cake with a candle as a surprise... a little something with a big impact, just really sweet! Initially I was torn as to whether "Die Bullerei" might be resting on its name because of Tim Mälzer, but no, not at all! The food is a little more expensive, but it's definitely worth it if you want to treat yourself to something nice and appreciate good, fine food. The service was always very attentive without being intrusive, relaxed and friendly. I'm still amazed and it won't be the last time I'll be there! Many thanks to the blonde waiter who gave us such a great birthday evening!

Great! Had the surprise menu. So delicious. The meat couldn't have been more perfect. Lots of small components that harmonized really well together! Great service. The menu was explained to me at eye level. It's the little things that are important here. Still quite a relaxed atmosphere. Funny design. Have already been to the Bullerei 5 times (coming from away) and will always come back.

Unfortunately, instead of bullshit, there was mess. It can happen that something is wrong with a dish. The waitress' presumptuous reaction was just embarrassing. The short rib was at least 50% pure fat in one piece. After the first bite, the winemaker asked that something was wrong and said it was a natural product and normal. Actually they should have let it go back, but we had already waited almost an hour and there was no guarantee that the touch-up would be an improvement... In the end it was at least 50% pure inedible fat. The other dish was very good only the short rib was the biggest culinary disappointment we had experienced in a long time and as we expect a short rib, our feedback to the waitress was that we also expect 50% of the dish from the bill should be deleted. "So that's what you expect" yes.. "I don't need to be lectured to by you" said the waitress, who was perhaps twenty years old, very flippantly to us. When asked about her unfriendly manner, her behavior became even more malicious and impudent! Being served like this is probably the result of the general lack of staff...

Wir waren mehr als zufrieden. Toller Empfang, super Service, mega leckerers Steak mit perfekter Garstufe. Das Steak haben wir gleich 2 mal bestellt. :-) Ein großes Lob an die Angestellten, die immer ein Witz auf den Lippen hatten. Wer hier nicht zufrieden ist, ist selber schuld. We were at the deli. Service was attentive, but a bit unstructured in the allocation of the vacant tables. It was actually a bit cold and therefore unfortunately not that comfortable.

The food was delicious and something different. Portion of the Udon Cabonara was too small for my taste. Staff is friendly and the atmosphere is very pleasant.

Entrance area: poorly organized and really not nicely decorated. Otherwise, when we sat down: Service was really great! Unfortunately, the entrecote only came lukewarm and had an average taste, which is not appropriate for 49 euros. The side dishes (piementos and mash) were tasty, but nothing special. Overall, poor value for money and we're really happy to spend more money on good food! Not again and we don't recommend it either.

It was our first time in the Bullerei and we were surprised by the friendliness of all the employees. Always a kind word and always the feeling of being welcome. The food was really tasty and didn't come after a long wait. A small special feature is the delicious bread in advance. It's definitely not the last time we've been there and we're curious to see whether the small but nice menu has changed.

Hello, we were there for the first time today. We decided on the 3 course menu. From start to finish everything was tip top. The food was very tasty and the evening was a success. I would particularly like to highlight Emma, ​​so friendly, personable and warm. That was great service!!!!!

Yesterday I was in the bullpen for the first, but certainly not the last, time in my life. I can say without exaggeration: This was one of my best restaurant experiences in the last ten years. It starts with incredibly friendly service. From check-in to dessert, we were looked after by the same waitress. And at its best: with friendliness, warmth, humor and a lot of expertise. At the recommendation of the waitress, we ordered the surprise menu. You can fine-tune this (e.g. by "fixing" the main course beforehand or expressing likes and dislikes. Unlike in many other restaurants, the surprise menu in the Bullerei does NOT mean that you throw everything out to the guests that has to go anyway. No , on the contrary: Anyone who orders the surprise menu here will get the BEST things. We tasted by far the freshest, tastiest and most wholesome tartare I have ever eaten, a meat praline that tasted like a high-end version of Dutch bitterballen, a king prawn of gigantic product quality, served with ras el hanout and kaffir lime and delicious It was accompanied by book widths, but also the creamiest and mildest burrata I have ever eaten. The main course was an entrecote of sensational quality and perfectly cooked. The meat was of such high quality that all it really needed was salt to season it - the Berneaise served with it was delicious, but basically unnecessary. The mashed potatoes were also incredibly good. The meal was accompanied by excellent wines, here you can also get large plants by the glass, you just ask for the “big bottle” and are then presented with a selection. The cocktails were also top notch, we had Whiskey Old Fashioned and very good Negronis, which were apparently made with premium gins and vermouth (I'm guessing Carpano Antica Formula). In short: a stimulating, happy, delicious evening that will resonate with us for a long time. Thanks to the entire team: It's amazing that such a level of quality can be scaled up so that it works even in a fully occupied restaurant. Unique!

We will not visit the Bullerei again. We've been happy every time we've had lunch. In the restaurant, however, we were not satisfied with the menu for the second time. The first time, despite triple requests and assurances, the wine accompaniment was forgotten, but still charged. On the second visit, over an hour passed between the first and second courses. Between the 2nd and 3rd (main course) another hour passed. Although they apologized to us and gave us eggnog on the house, the waiting time is still absolutely unacceptable. For the third course I chose the beef fillet, which was so tough that it was hard to enjoy. I ate about 1/4 of the fillet, the rest went back. The waitress cleared things up without comment and didn't ask if everything was OK. We then spoke to another waiter, who took the criticism and wanted to pass it on. There were two drinks on the house. At around 10:40 p.m. we had the fourth course, dessert. We like to spend money on high-quality food and an exclusive location, but here neither one nor the other is right. We will not visit the Bullerei again.

The food is great. The price is good for the quality offered. The staff is just great. You can tell that people enjoy their job and that the guest is important to them.

This evening we enjoyed a thoroughly enjoyable evening in the Bullerrei. A perfect, non-contrived service gave us great advice and responded to our wishes. We enjoyed every bite. The highlight for me was the mustard as a starter! We'd love to come back!

We were thrilled with the bullery. You feel totally comfortable, you can either be there in an evening dress or just wear comfortable jeans, no stress at all. The service is super attentive and the food is extremely good! We'll be back!

We have already eaten here twice in the evening, during shorter and longer stays in HH. Highly recommended! 1. Ambience is rather rustic, if you can put it that way?! Depending on which area you sit in (but you have no influence on it when you make a reservation), it has a bit more of a “steakhouse” charm, in a nice sense! 😁 It's a large hall with lots of tables etc. Nevertheless, the atmosphere is appropriate, you can have a conversation, it's not too loud, the decoration is appropriate. It's just not the small, cozy restaurant (unless the bistro is open and you sit there. It's much quieter and smaller there). But it all works out if you know what you're getting into (in the best sense of the word)! The mood itself is appropriately rather relaxed, which appeals to me 2. Brings: Service/staff is really great. The waiting times are reasonable, the atmosphere/the interaction is relaxed. Nevertheless, the staff knows what they are doing, is competent in advising on drinks and the menu and also responds to special requests without any complications. A service that you are happy to pay for and rewarded with a large tip. 3. The food was always impeccable. Good quality of products, deliciously cooked, absolutely nothing to complain about. But we also like the down-to-earth style, with the highest quality. And that's exactly what you'll find here. We would love to come back next time we visit HH!

It felt like there wasn't enough staff, there was a long wait for drinks and food or the main course. Drinks didn't come yet, hmmm, it wasn't nice and the food wasn't worth the price and taste, so we hoped for more

Always a great experience. It doesn't matter whether you go to the deli for lunch or to the restaurant in the evening.

For us it was the second visit after 5 years, and we were really looking forward to it, as we were very enthusiastic about the first visit. If you look back and compare it with the photos from back then, we are a little disappointed. The reviews and pictures of the other surprise menus don't really match what we experienced either. As the years go by, expectations should increase, even compared to Kitchen Impossible. Unfortunately, we also sat in the next room, it is reminiscent of a butcher's shop and is uncomfortable, especially when you compare it to the seats in the main area. We chose the 4-course surprise menu with wine accompaniment. Regardless of whether it was the way it was served or the taste, the courses didn't really appeal to us; unfortunately they weren't really consistent. Starter was ok, lukewarm vegetables with beef. As an intermediate course there was potato salad and red cabbage with fried chicken, it was good but it didn't really fit into the menu, especially with the beer from Bavaria!? The main course was sousvide duck, again with red cabbage, potato dumplings and sauce. What was a shame, the skin wasn't really edible, a lot of oily skin that wasn't fried. The dumpling was soft and fluffy in consistency, very good, you thought something about it, just like with the cabbage. For dessert there was a kind of Black Forest cherry (deconstructed), it was ok except for an espresso martini, not quite in keeping with the dish. All in all, the two wines there were, white and red, were very good. Overall strengths and weaknesses, one has to say. Maybe order à la carte next time. Unfortunately, all expectations were not met here. Ps. With this kitchen size and manpower, more is certainly possible.

Great restaurant, everything was perfect from A to Z. Staff, food, drinks, ambience 5* We had: On the table for 2 Caviar (highly recommended) Entrecote double Dessert was no longer good. We look forward to hopefully coming back soon
