For us it was the second visit after 5 years, and we were really looking forward to it, as we were very enthusiastic about the first visit. If you look back and compare it with the photos from back then, we are a little disappointed. The reviews and pictures of the other surprise menus don't really match what we experienced either. As the years go by, expectations should increase, even compared to Kitchen Impossible. Unfortunately, we also sat in the next room, it is reminiscent of a butcher's shop and is uncomfortable, especially when you compare it to the seats in the main area. We chose the 4-course surprise menu with wine accompaniment. Regardless of whether it was the way it was served or the taste, the courses didn't really appeal to us; unfortunately they weren't really consistent. Starter was ok, lukewarm vegetables with beef. As an intermediate course there was potato salad and red cabbage with fried chicken, it was good but it didn't really fit into the menu, especially with the beer from Bavaria!? The main course was sousvide duck, again with red cabbage, potato dumplings and sauce. What was a shame, the skin wasn't really edible, a lot of oily skin that wasn't fried. The dumpling was soft and fluffy in consistency, very good, you thought something about it, just like with the cabbage. For dessert there was a kind of Black Forest cherry (deconstructed), it was ok except for an espresso martini, not quite in keeping with the dish. All in all, the two wines there were, white and red, were very good. Overall strengths and weaknesses, one has to say. Maybe order à la carte next time. Unfortunately, all expectations were not met here. Ps. With this kitchen size and manpower, more is certainly possible.

As a regular viewer of Kitchen Immpossible, it was clear that we had to visit the Bullerei on a trip to Hamburg. Now it was time. We were there for lunch (deli) and felt very comfortable. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was colorful and playful, and the service was first class. We'll go there again on our next trip to Hamburg: then a very large portion of tartare. 😜

Dear Tim, great restaurant! Actually it should be 5/5 stars. But why did it become 3/5? We had a wonderful evening together today. The dishes were beautifully prepared and created. The wine recommendations for the 4-course menu were perfectly coordinated and delivered very well by your staff this evening. Duck good, all good. Unfortunately, there was a problem here with the service and food. Rarely have I had such good duck! On point. The dumpling was very nice 4.99/5, I'm a stuffing chunkie. BUT your cook was probably in love, because the red cabbage was so salty that I had to return it 0.95/1. Unfortunately there was no reaction to my comment, a real A-licking moment. And that's why it took me even more out of the moment! Dessert was great again! Unfortunately, the main course was just the icing on the cake at the salty moment. My companion's wild consomme was excellent, but after the fourth spoonful it was over. My intermediate course was also wrong with the foam. Everything was actually great, but the salt and the poor handling of the statement still outweighed it. Whoever edits the comments is hiding the salt. It's so annoying and sad to write the comment like that because it was really great, but the evening was so spoiled. Your R. (I'll be back)

If you're looking for an evening with delicious food and fantastic service, you've come to the right place. Actually, we always go to the Bullerei when we end up in Hamburg. The quality of the food has steadily improved over the last few years - it's best to take the Bäm surprise menu and also enjoy one or two fairly priced glasses of wine.

Great service, pleasant atmosphere, food was good. The crispy pork belly with celery puree and pressed mushroom dumplings was delicious, but the crust was much too "hard", impossible to cut... Whether the dish would have come further in the kitchen battle 🤔 The gnocchi of my companion were A1, Tiramisu was middle class unfortunately without alcohol or flavor. Let's see how the food turns out on the next visit 🤔

The food was really good, everything else was rather disappointing. As a hamburger, this is more for tourists. Table reserved for 8 p.m., waiting time in the 2nd row at the bar - parked like a street dog - and only when we asked did we get a small waiting beer. The waiter was very friendly and totally overwhelmed. Waiting for olive oil to go with the bread, waiting for the Somellier, waiting for the water, waiting, waiting, waiting. The Somellier knew as much about his small wine list as a plumber knows about space travel. The three of us had a voucher worth over €500 - you can really expect more for that. Disappointing.

Bullying has developed positively for me. A good 10 years ago, people felt like they wanted to be a better restaurant and stand out. This was reflected in the price but less in the service or quality. Today you can see the experience of the last few years and a positive development towards a very good restaurant with reasonable prices and great service. I had the 4 course surprise menu and it was really good. For me it didn't all fit together but there's no arguing about taste. Each course was special in itself and the taste was really good. For €69 you can eat very well here. We were placed in a corner of the smaller room, separated by a curtain, near the kitchen. A great place for a group of 5 people. I found the acoustics a bit annoying as everything was very loud. I assume that it is even louder in the seats in the middle of the room. We sometimes had difficulty understanding each other at our seats. All in all, a very good restaurant with positive development and a little potential for improvement.

The two of us were guests for dinner. First of all: the atmosphere is very relaxed - I think that's intentional. Even if the food is of a high standard, it appears so visually. The staff is therefore a bit more relaxed - friendly. The “wine dude” recommended us a delicious Riesling - and definitely not the most expensive! The waiter introduced us to what he liked and didn't like on the menu. That's what we ordered too! My surprise menu was consistently delicious. The portions were a little smaller than expected, but you were full. All in all, I still missed the little wow factor. I can still recommend Bullerei with a clear conscience!

As the name suggests, it's better for fans of beef and meat (like us) to come here. After the homemade bread, the two of us had the mixed starter platter (tartar, mushrooms, ham, burrata, anchovies) as well as fish and meat as the main actors. The shop is certainly not looking for the first star, the dishes were all rather rustic, simple, but still first-class. Plus attentive service, a nice atmosphere and we didn't have to declare bankruptcy afterwards. Thanks and see you next time!

We were already in the Bullerei in May. Bought the surprise menu again and wasn't disappointed again. With every visit you can clearly see that all the waiters are well trained and always have an eye for the customer, which is why we always feel right at home. I was just able to stop myself from saying that we were sitting in a pink side room. Unfortunately that wasn't our thing and I almost took away from the ambience. No pictures of the food, sorry I ate it too quickly.

Tim Mälzer's bullery is located on Lagerstrasse in Hamburg. We had reserved, which I strongly recommend. The restaurant had a cool interior and a very unique style and was clean! From reception to service to food, it was really good and really good. There are toilets behind the curtain😆 As a starter there is an extremely delicious, fresh, warm sourdough bread! I had a spicy beef tartare which was spicy to the point! Followed by a fillet cut with market vegetables and chop chop salad, which comes with the meat dishes. Was extremely tasty! 100% recommendation. Price/performance top! Thank you very much for the great evening!

This is our fourth time here. The Bullerei has reduced massively. This applies to the imagination of the kitchen (creme brulee and simply sour apple compote with ice cream ball, crispy breaded Japanese schnitzel with salad and dressing (what a mud)) to the noisy bum/bum music that is just annoying. The service was very good, attentive and quick. Unfortunately, that doesn't cover the disadvantages. No further recommendation.

It was our first time at the deli. The reception was great. Everyone very nice. Had a table for 2 with a dog. We hadn't quite sat down yet when the cellar immediately brought water for our dog. The whole evening was one (expensive) disappointment; I almost had to laugh afterwards. The food really wasn't good, everything was absurdly expensive considering the quality, and the selection was poor. We were put in the "vestibule" (without prior notice) because the music from the 90s (Wigfield) was too loud. Art (furnishings) is of course always a matter of taste, but I certainly felt like I was in a children's room (colorful "pop art" on the wall and large children's plastic figures everywhere). The restaurant's seating is obviously too tight to maximize profits, making it loud and uncomfortable. When I read the countless good reviews, everyone must have been to a different restaurant. After many years I came to the bull shop again. At first I was surprised that the room was much smaller than I remembered and also looked different. Only later did it become apparent that we had obviously been taken to the former "deli" - without any notice - as the main room was probably full - but you could have told the paying guest beforehand. You don't just come to eat. The room into which we were taken contained a lot of very colorful pictures on the wall and there were a lot of "funny" plastic figures standing around - as we all know, art and taste cannot be argued about. “Curtains” were used as room dividers, which reminded me of various shared apartments from my student days. To me, everything seemed randomly put together. Very loud music from the 90s was playing. The room had very tight seating, my neighbor sat with his back to my left side and was almost touching my arm. I didn't find it comfortable. I wanted a beer - when I asked, they said they only had a light beer or wheat beer from Bayreuth on offer, no Pilsner - which surprised me in Hamburg. The light beer was then served to me in a cut-off wine glass (or was it a pilsner glass without a style?), at least without a coaster, so that the table got wet. I like things to be casual in a restaurant, but the staff should already have the basics of professionalism. The selection on the menu really disappointed me. I then chose the “classic spicy tartare”. The tartare looked unappetizing to my taste and tasted of nothing. There was also a "rösti" that looked like a fish stick and tasted like frozen food from a discount store (my personal taste). The “beetroot ketchup” also tasted colorless. As a main course there was mainly steak to choose from, as a side dish you could choose from fries, mashed potatoes, market vegetables, pimentos (i.e. peppers) or "power crumbs". The file steak didn't taste like anything, it had no roasted aromas whatsoever and wasn't seasoned in a way that was palatable. The fries we ordered were fried for an extremely long time and therefore tasted like “Chio Chips Hungarian style”. I then paid 55 euros for steak and fries. Under the heading "Sauces" fresh horseradish was recommended to me as "Tim's favorite". There was no sauce, but pure horseradish, but at least it was grated and already dry. There was also a mini salt with too much creamy dressing (mayo?). The whole evening cost 160 euros for two people.

That's how we ended up in Tim Mälzer's bull shop. After a very short wait, a table for 4 people was available, we weren't registered (I had expected more of a wait). The ambience has something very unique that cannot be compared to any other restaurant, you have to give it to Mälzer and his team. The service was attentive, courteous and well organized. My problem is the price-performance ratio for the food. The others in my group had a better grip on the menu than I did and they got their fill. I had exactly 5 tortellini on my plate for €14.50 - definitely handmade and really tasty, but who is that enough for?! Even twice that amount would have been tight for me. Now the others were very happy and were able to share their food with me... So if the tortellini have to be that expensive, please put a note on the menu, I would definitely have chosen something else... Unfortunately, the waiter couldn't/wouldn't or wasn't allowed to respond to my complaint; I'm not coming back for a while...

Our complaint was responded to with excuses, only to end up “complaining” that we wouldn’t accept an alternative, even though this was never specifically communicated. Overall, it was very relaxed and tasty, there was no need to make excuses for our complaint. Anyone who likes it the way it is (atmosphere, ambience, fake coolness) will feel very comfortable, because everything is really good 😎

Food very disappointing but best ambience. Best service. Expectations were of course high, but were only satisfied in terms of ambience and service. As a pescatarian, the bullshit with the current menu is unfortunately not even mediocre. In order not to go into too much detail, you can't hide the total descent of spaghetti ice cream. In terms of taste, vanilla ice cream from the wholesaler and a ready-made strawberry sauce spread over it just as carelessly and excessively make the culinary finale really difficult for lovers of the Italian ice cream classic. We get this several times better at our ice cream parlor of choice for €5.90 instead of €13.00 just because it says “Melzer” on it. Leek starter extremely poor. The salmon took some getting used to. The tastiest thing is the bean side dish. 🙈 Well. Food should live up to the name. There are countless culinary locations in Hamburg that far (!!!) surpass our menu in the Bullerei.

Maybe I went there with too much expectation. But burnt bread, carelessly thrown on the table in a paper bag, stressed staff and an unclean toilet. Just a shame! The products are high quality and the meat is cooked to perfection. That was great! Also fun amenities on site! But for me, being a host is more than that!

The service (thanks to Heiko) was second to none, not just him but all the other staff too. Always friendly and accommodating. This time we had the Bäm menu. A great meal. We can recommend this without reservation. Whenever we are in Hamburg, we like it every time.

I would like to give more than 5 stars! We were at the Bullerei in Hamburg on Thursday. The decoration alone is amazing! All the employees were very nice! The food... Indescribable! We all had the 4 course surprise menu for €69. It's worth every penny! I've never eaten so well! With drinks and tips, I came to €100. The highlight was of course Tim. It will be unforgettable for me to have met him in person. An incredibly cool, nice, down-to-earth man! I can highly recommend Bullerei!

We ate at the Bullerei. Service very nice and competent. There was one course that we personally didn't like (spiked pumpkin), but everyone has to decide for themselves. Otherwise a great experience that you should treat yourself to.

Our first visit to the Bullerei ... curious to see whether the prominent name keeps what it promises... it has! A very pleasant atmosphere in the restaurant with a special interior, consistently attentive and friendly service and the three-course menu was also top (beef fillet version) or very good ("normal" version). We'd love to come back!

Bullerei in the Sternschanze is a bit of fine dining. The dishes on the menu range from cheap to expensive. Service is friendly and attentive. In summer you can sit outside nicely. The lunch options are very reasonably priced. Pleasant atmosphere in the restaurant.

It was our first time here and we had reserved a table! I think you should definitely do that if you want to eat there in the evening! The Bullerei was very well attended on Friday evening. For food we chose the Bäm menu. The service explained the dish in detail every time. TOP 👌 We found it cool that the Bullerei has a relaxed and informal atmosphere. The decoration is unconventional and fits perfectly into the Bullerei. The guys and girls from the service also do a world-class job and explain and advise as needed. We'd love to come by again. Thanks to the whole team. 👌

If you are looking for good food at a good price, you should definitely have lunch here. We ate the beef roulade and it was delicious. 🤤 Tender meat, delicious boiled potatoes on a super tasty red cabbage. I would have liked to have taken a few more portions with me. We also ordered the delicious ice cream for dessert so that we could also try the new Coke Float variety. This will definitely be purchased as soon as we can find it. What's more, we were even lucky enough to see Tim. Woohoo, how cool. 5 stars are actually not enough here, because in relation to the price category, the 5 stars are really exceeded here. We'll definitely be back for dinner again soon.

Full marks! The restaurant, the food and the team completely met my taste. The location is in the trendy Sternschanze district and it fits in perfectly - modern, playful and cheeky. I was there for the deli, so lunchtime without a reservation. We had to wait a bit until a table became available. However, you may need to bring a little more time with you. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the service, everyone is friendly and you don't have to wait long to be served. The food was great! I loved the grilled mackerel (Sabayaki Don) and the smashed burger was great.

Have been there off and on over the past few years. This time for my mother-in-law's 90th birthday. We think the atmosphere is really nice. The friendliness of the service is outstanding. The staff is incredibly nice, hard-working and attentive without being the least bit intrusive. Simply good hosts. Unfortunately, despite the exorbitant prices, the food has now deteriorated significantly. There were four of us and we all had the “Bäm” menu. That promises to be a blast. The starter (duck breast with lamb's lettuce, pumpkin puree and pumpkin seed jelly) was rather stale - the lamb's lettuce was tired and wilted, the duck breast was thin like supermarket cold cuts and the creams were weak. The main course, venison leg with potato wedges and red cabbage, was, in my opinion, a convenience product. The meat from the convection oven is tough and dry - the red cabbage is watery, the potato wedge is rubbery. Nothing “bam”. The dessert, plum roll (dust-dry) with a plum jam that every housewife can do more powerfully, the contemporary “tonka bean ice cream” is more boring than vanilla ice cream from the supermarket. Overall a real disappointment. For the prices you really expect BÄM from a food perspective - and unfortunately that wasn't it at all.

Disappointing and absolutely overhyped - we would have been better off in the brewery behind it. IN ADVANCE: The food was VERY GOOD! - and we were at lunchtime. I can't say whether it's like that in the evening. I'm just rating my experience here. The staff is generally nice, but only when you enter the room. You can stand for 15 minutes without anyone even thinking it's necessary, say "hello" or "we need a moment" EVEN THOUGH you are clearly seen. Once you sit down, everyone is nice. The whole package including the loaction gives the impression that the annoying "fans" are dealt with quickly so that they are served. B-Riege staff - the professionals don't come until the evening. As a guest, it annoys me to see that 30 people are standing outside and waiting, but in the guest room an empty table for 6 has not been cleared for 15 minutes, as well as several individual tables. The staff do not use trays, carry each glass individually and do not pick up empty dishes as they pass by. Let alone being asked if you want something more to drink. We had to talk to the waiters ourselves - which isn't that easy since they are masters at stopping by. Again: The food was good and the price was ok, BUT as a Tim Mälzer restaurant - whether lunch or dinner - the staff should be professional and you shouldn't make the guests feel like annoying "fans".

We were in the Bullerei in the evening and at lunchtime. Unfortunately we didn't get an appointment until 9:15 that evening. The food was very good, but when we wanted fries we were told the kitchen was already closed. Exactly the same with the dessert. That's why we went back for lunch the next day and caught up on it. As a vegetarian, I have to say I definitely had more choice for lunch. It's a shame that we didn't meet Tim. But maybe next time. The service staff was very nice and attentive. In any case, the Bullerei is worth one or more visits.

After a long time we were able to get a table again on Halloween. We had the 4-course surprise menu with fillet. The food was and is outstanding, the service was super nice and the decor was a little more bizarre on Halloween than it usually is. Since we didn't start with the first course until around 9 p.m., we had to fight with the very good fillet - so only those who are really hungry should choose the fillet out of 4 courses. Conclusion: for me a great opportunity for special moments. With Tim everything seems very authentic - no illusions or illusions 👍

First visit on October 30th, 2024 in the evening for the third time. Reserved a few days in advance via Opentable. Unfortunately we were assigned an uncomfortable seat. Directly behind the head there was a shelf/storage space where wine bottles can be opened/placed and new dishes or other utensils can be parked in the meantime. This is annoying - at least to the guest sitting right there. Mustard egg and Arctic sea tartalette very good. US short rib was only lukewarm in places but otherwise tasted very good. Filet Cut Ireland also has a temperature at the lower limit, but is very good in terms of taste and the desired degree of doneness. Side dishes and desserts tasted very good. A bottle of still water is quite expensive at 8 EUR. The overall assessment is difficult. A beginner's mistake of serving meat main courses on plates/platters that were not preheated or not hot enough itself surprised me at a restaurant run by a former (?) star chef. In the ambience rating, the suboptimal seating results in a deduction. Personally, I was also a bit bothered by the overall volume and the loud rhythm-based background music in the restaurant; my companion found the proximity to the next table next door unpleasant. The service was friendly and quick, although small things were forgotten twice or only delivered upon request. Would I go here again? As a paying guest, I think not. The absolute sophistication and perfection of the food was simply missing.

We arrived a little earlier on the evening of our reservation, but this was solved easily: the table was flexibly rearranged so that we were seated in the front area of the deli. However, the service seemed a little uncoordinated that evening. After being seated we waited about 15 minutes for the menus and the drinks weren't served for half an hour. Overall, the process was a bit slow. We opted for the surprise menu, hoping for a thoughtful dining experience. The starter consisted of salmon - solidly prepared, although without any particular aha effect. The main course included a braised leg of venison, served with raw cabbage, pear and a kind of potato galette. Taste-wise, the dish was okay, but we expected a more subtle tuning and more sophistication from a menu in this price range. When it came to dessert, which was announced by the service as the “crowning finale”, we would have expected a more creative use of the patisserie. Instead, we were served yogurt ice cream, topped with Greek yogurt accompanied by three slices of blood orange and a drizzle of flavored oil. Even though the combination was tasty, it didn't meet the expectations of a dessert from a fine kitchen like this. A house of this format could present itself in a much more sophisticated and imaginative way. Overall, the bullery seems like a routine operation - almost like clockwork that runs without any major deviations. But this evening the emotional access and personal touch that makes a visit to a restaurant special was missing. The atmosphere was professional but distant. One gets the impression that the focus here is more on the efficient process

Wonderful evening: children playing, running around, painting by numbers next to us, photo sessions in teddy bear land, loud and unpleasant. This is definitely out of place at these prices! The food was very disappointing: everything wasn't harmonious, either too little salt, too sour, too buttery, too much of one, too little of the other. Lukewarm was cold, potatoes were too hard, the meat was better for me. The service was overwhelmed, wine was not refilled, hardly any attention was paid and our complaint was not addressed. The bill came quickly and goodbye. “Bäm” took on its own meaning! We were there many times, but that was the last time. There are better restaurants in Hamburg!

Loved the food and Plating. Waiter was very accommodating and friendly. You can really feel the Lithuania Atmosphere with the decorations, setting etc in the Restaurant. A video about Lithuania is also played in a tv screen.
