Restaurant & Räucherei & BBQ Smoker "Klosterklause" Inselstadt Malchow in Malchow

I tried to reserve a table by phone, but no one answered. On Wednesday afternoon, I noticed that the signs for "Restaurant" and "Holiday Apartments" were still up on and in front of the building, but the garden gate was closed, the menu board was empty, and it seemed the restaurant had closed down. It's a shame; they could have at least updated the listing. They hadn't done that, just like they hadn't removed the "Restaurant" signs. You know how it is. What a pity.

Absolute gem. The service was very attentive without being intrusive. The young man seemed very authentic, which made us feel at ease. The food. I don't think I need to say anything more about my picture. Completely satisfied.

We had a delicious meal here. Highly recommended. We received a friendly welcome and were well looked after. Dogs are also no problem. Everything is very lovingly decorated.

After a short wait, we had a very good meal here. The halloumi patties with herb cream and salad were truly delicious. The "classic" pulled pork was also tasty, although it could have been seasoned a bit more intensely. The drinks and service were excellent!

We had the BBQ Beast plate (cheese-topped pulled pork from the smoker with coleslaw and fries. It was incredibly delicious and highly recommended. The service was super friendly and attentive.

We stopped here on our way through after a long traffic jam and decided to stop in quite late. Even though everything had already been cleared up, we were allowed to stay and received friendly and attentive service. The burgers were amazing—no patties, just really fresh meat (including the chicken). They were generously tossed and topped with delicious sauce, along with two kinds of salad. Everything was very plentiful and well-priced!

We discovered this restaurant on our way to another location. You could get something to eat here at 3:00 PM on a Wednesday. It was a real treat. The service was quick and attentive. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and has a great location. The food was good, but not overwhelming. I particularly enjoyed the homemade (I think) coleslaw salad. The price-performance ratio is OK; you can stop by without any problems. Highly recommended.

I had the BBQ grill plate with ribs, chicken, pulled pork, beef, and grilled vegetables. The quantity was more than sufficient. But with a grill plate, I expect the meat to come straight from the grill with the appropriate branding. The same goes for the grilled vegetables. These hadn't even been grilled; they were just vegetables warmed in water. Overall, the grill plate had little of what defines a grill plate. A shame.

I ordered spare ribs today, they were cold, not seasoned and the meat was simply too dry.

The food was excellent (note: side dishes cost extra) and definitely worth the money! Service was a bit nonchalant, but not unfriendly. It's strange, though, how it can happen that all the toilet stalls are filled with empty toilet paper rolls (but there are plenty of them)...

We asked if there were six free seats - even though more than half of the seats inside and outside were empty, the waitress said there were no seats available, probably just not in the mood...

Very tasty, if not exactly worth the price. The Belgian fries are highly recommended and should be ordered with a BBQ meal (unfortunately, there was no side dish for the pulled pork, which added a bit to the meal price). We sat outside (nice), and the service was very friendly.

The fact that you can eat so well in such a small place is more than impressive! A real insider tip that makes it worth visiting Malchow. Of course you have to like BBQ and pulled pork.

Directly at the entrance to the town from the direction of the motorway. Very nicely done villa with beer garden. Large selection of grilled dishes. Had PulletPork, Hamburger, Schnitzel and HalumiBurger. Everything was very, very tasty!!! The service was also very nice. There is a large free parking lot about 100m away. Top!

We had dinner today. What can 8ch say the best was the Radler. The food was edible. I had fries with cheese sauce. The cheese sauce was tasteless and not homemade. My husband had baked pulled pork and my daughter had a burger. All in all, the prices for the bad food are very high. The service was very nice. The ambience urgently needs to be overhauled. Doesn't invite you to linger. I felt the need to finish and leave. Scjade

Our food (cheese hamburger 180gr with fries) tasted wonderful. The quantity was absolutely filling. I almost couldn't get up anymore 😁 There are enough free parking spaces nearby.

The two of us spontaneously went to the Klosterklause for dinner; it was during the week and there wasn't much going on. We ordered spare ribs and pulled pork as well as side dishes. The food was wonderful, everything freshly prepared and very tasty! The service was quick, and friendly. We give a clear recommendation and would like to emphasize the excellent price-performance ratio!

Four of us had dinner there this evening and we all enjoyed it very much, and the service was also very friendly and very attentive. When we're in the area again we'll stop by again.

The two of us ate there. I had the BBQ plate “Das Meisterstück”, which offered pulled pork, spare ribs and chicken. The meat was only lukewarm and relatively dry. When I asked, the plate was taken away again and a little later I was given a new portion with warmer meat. However, it was just as dry. The waiter then apologized and brought a schnapps. All in all, I wouldn't eat there again.

I had classic pulled pork and in retrospect was a bit disappointed to pay such a relatively high price for this portion. 5 euros less for this bowl would still be too much or at least a large portion of fries would have been fair. But it tasted pretty good and the service was friendly. However, a second visit is definitely out of the question for me.

Price performance is okay €-€€. Service was good. Food was tasty. Would love to go there again.

Because of the good reviews, we drove to the “smokehouse” with some anticipation. Even without a reservation, we spontaneously got a table for two people, but afterwards we would have preferred to have been turned away. The service consisted of two people and 6 of 12 tables outside were occupied, an additional one inside... What can I say, I have never experienced service so hectic. Just try to breathe every now and then, no guest will be angry if it takes a minute longer! The order was taken quickly and the food came to us almost even faster. And here it would be appropriate if the kitchen took a full 15 minutes more time and tried their dishes every now and then. You can't get the pulled pork from the smoker, it's clear that it takes too long and you have to be prepared in the restaurant - but put some meat in a casserole dish, pour what is supposed to be malt beer sauce over it and then add a pack of grated cheese (definitely not pure Cheddar, at most cheddar mix) over it and heat it in the microwave... That's insulting to any actual smoker and doesn't match the price-performance ratio! The scalloped pile of meat described was served in a porcelain chip bowl (as in the pictures of other guests) and served with two different salads. I also didn't know that two salads were served as a side dish, so be it. The lettuce was OK, the dressing was good and not all the pieces in the salad were huge and connected. You could just about recognize the coleslaw described visually, but the taste had no character and it was more watery/stale than actual coleslaw. Absolutely not worth the price of almost €20 per plate and a rip-off at such a poor standard! Conclusion: The restaurant probably survives because tourists like us fall for it. Or the actual cook was sick, or or or... In any case, under ongoing circumstances like this, I can't imagine locals eating here. Feel free to try your luck if you have read my review before and feel the same way... I said it! 😉 I definitely can't recommend it.

Mmm, where do I start... The food was edible, but unfortunately neither corresponds to the name of the restaurant nor the menu. Because in my opinion, pulled pork and beef have never seen a smoker up close. I smoke and smoke myself and have eaten the original in the USA,... This is very, very far away from both. And with prices of around 20 euros per portion without any side dish, I expect to get what is on the menu. SHAME!

We sat in the beer garden, which was absolutely okay, the service was friendly. Unfortunately the price/performance ratio doesn't suit me. The Pull Pork Platter Classic, for €18.90, probably also comes with a portion of fries.

I was in this restaurant yesterday for dinner, very good reviews and I ordered the ribs as they were considered the best..... Honestly, I'll tell you what I think.... I didn't like it very much Loved it.... Ribs were obviously cooked a long time ago and I was just warmed up... as some of the ribs were cold inside, it's a shame I don't want to come here anymore!

It's not that good, very short waiting time, so only warmed up, spare ribs were already ready, burgers were cold, not a good price/performance ratio

We were there on July 24th, 2024 and had booked a table beforehand. Is also advisable. Well, the staff were rowing a lot, but that's normal these days. Nevertheless, they were very friendly and nice. You didn't notice the stress on them, but you could see them whirling around a lot. These were professionals who knew their job and were always friendly. Now about the food. I highly recommend it. A very good cook is in the kitchen. My child had a good schnitzel that was nice and flat for us. We think it's great that way. There was also a cucumber salad that tasted like home. Yummy. My wife and I had a burger. She had a pullet burger and I had the one with more meat... There were fresh things on it and delicious toppings. My wife, who doesn't usually like BBQ sauce, found it really tasty. My burger was amazing and everything was super filling. Well, you had to order the fries separately, but everyone has to decide for themselves since the burgers themselves are very filling. Sure, some complain about the price, but a good burger and also handmade has its price, which is completely justified here. If you want to pay less, you have to eat the ready-made stuff from fast food chains. Finally, all I can say is great service and a really good cook. It's a good team. Keep it up.

The restaurant is simply great. The food is extremely tasty and is served quickly, so there are no long waiting times. Particularly noteworthy is the child-friendliness of the house: children are very welcome here and there are special offers for younger guests. A great place for a relaxed and enjoyable meal with the whole family.

Ein gemütliches Restaurant mit Biergarten und abwechslungsreicher Küche, vor allen Dingen etwas kreativere vegetarische/vegane Gerichte. Das Linsencurry und der Pulled Beef Burger waren richtig gut zubereitet bei einem angemessenen Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Allerdings gab es doch einen Wermutstropfen bei unserem Aufenthalt. Die Klosterklause betreibt auch den WWR Malchow, den wir vor einigen Jahren bereits zu schätzen wussten. In diesem Jahr gab es einen Hafenmeister vor Ort, der die ankommenden Bootfahrer sehr ruhig und kompetent in ihre Boxen komplimentierte. Unsere Liegegebühr allerdings wurde doppelt berechnet, da unser Boot 25 cm breiter als 3,50 m war. So mussten wir für eine Nacht nur Liegegebühr 33 € zahlen. Das finden wir ziemlich unverschämt und werden in Zukunft diesen Liegeplatz meiden. Unser Vercharterer wurde auch informiert.
