Dat Fischhus in Malchow

The name "Würzfleisch aus FISCH" (Seasoned Meat Made from Fish) is guaranteed to stick in the memory (due to its originality)!! The chef is right: it is indeed meat :-) It tasted similarly to the eel. The eel was served with fried potatoes, which weren't very tasty – some were quite burnt. The fish soup looked appetizing and beautifully colorful – but could have used a bit more seasoning. Very friendly service.

It was a very, very good dinner, with incredibly friendly service. The atmosphere is exactly what you'd imagine in a "fisherman's house." We'd love to come back again!

Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. The fish tasted like old frying fat, and some of the fried potatoes were so dark and hard that they felt like they'd been reheated three times.

Good, friendly service, but the food was just about okay and too expensive. Little flavor, not even the fried potatoes were crispy. And then we had the large fish plate for €27.90… in summary: not recommended!

We were there today for lunch and had a table inside. We had the fried zander on tomato and basil mash and a vegetarian vegetable plate with zucchini and burrata. A good portion size, well-cooked, appealing to look at, and very tasty. We also had a freshly tapped Lübzer beer. Nice space and great staff. We strolled on, completely satisfied.

A place where fish cravings are met. A small menu, good quality, and the location also invites you to linger. We haven't encountered the often-reported unfriendliness of the staff during our visits over the past two years, and we don't confirm this. Even at peak times, we were always served in a friendly manner and received very good quality food on a clean table. We happily recommend this fish restaurant and will definitely eat there next time we're on holiday in the area. And, my goodness, everyone has a bad day sometimes...and no one is perfect.

I can only comment on the fish sandwiches. They're okay and edible. They're already pre-made at the counter. Why? It's not difficult to top them freshly according to the order. Other fish sandwich vendors do it too. Char was quite good. Fried fish, well... seemed like frozen fried fish to me. Here, too, we were proven wrong. Even breaded fish tastes better and is available in Malchow. Prices are a bit overpriced. The fish sandwiches are edible, but there are better ones.

A beautiful restaurant with an outdoor terrace on the waterfront. Very clean and well-maintained. The waitress was very friendly. The food was fresh and extremely delicious. The Müritz eel was a dream and highly recommended, as was the cucumber soup. If you're ever in the area, you should definitely visit Dat Fischhus. Today is my second time here. My last visit was three years ago. The food, ambiance, and service are still excellent!

Not recommended!!! because they're selling old fish. Halibut. I bought two pieces of halibut today as a tourist. They didn't look juicy anymore, but I thought it would be okay in the afternoon. Wrong thought! The fish was skinned at the hotel and some of it had black spots on it! Thanks for nothing! Stay away from this place.

Last year, outside the restaurant, I enjoyed the house specialty: fried eel with fried potatoes and cucumber salad. Now I'm back in Malchow with my wife, looking forward to enjoying this very dish again at the restaurant "Dat Fischhus." Due to unfavorable weather conditions, this time inside. On a Thursday in July 2025, around 11:30 a.m. Oh, oh, was my first impression upon entering the restaurant. Why oh? As I said, I was only familiar with the outdoor area from the past. Immediately after entering, you fall over a coat rack. Continuing to the right, a narrow corridor opens up. A counter is built in front of it, and in front of it, there are three tables with two chairs each. A narrow aisle between the counter and the tables. Width, perhaps 70 centimeters. Then the dining room opens up, in which six tables, each seating four people, could be seen. Between the counter area and the dining room, on the wall opposite the windows, is a kind of spiral staircase, which will receive special attention later. Against the backdrop of the gaping emptiness in the restaurant, my question to the only server present about whether I could use one of the four-person tables in the dining room was rudely cut off. There were only two of us, and we were ordered to one of the two-person tables in front of the counter. You're polite, comply, take a seat, and place your order. About the food: My wife's dish was almost inedible. Her comment: "If I eat all of this now, I'll be sick this afternoon." My fried eel was undercooked, probably the worst-prepared fried eel ever. Still too good to throw away... It was simply abysmal. While we were eating our food, or at least trying to, what felt like 30 people from outside, along the narrow aisle, walked past our table in both directions, within arm's reach, simply to use the restroom. While paying the bill for almost €100, another waitress who had arrived accepted our criticism of the food without comment. The objection that the seats offered in front of the counter were an imposition and should simply be abolished was completely incomprehensible. "An imposition? Why?" That's not how you treat guests! It simply won't work. This can be avoided in the future. Two people sat down before us, and three more people sat down after us. Otherwise, everything was empty. That's the report of a successful, retired restaurateur and angler who knows exactly how to fry green eel to turn it into a delicacy. Will I ever come back to Malchow? Highly unlikely!

Very, very tasty fish sandwiches and great smoked fish. Last year, the employee was a bit rude. This year, however, there was a different one who explained everything and was super accommodating. Always worth a visit :)

I highly recommend "Dat Fischhus." We got a table and memory cards quickly. The selection isn't too extensive, so you can decide quickly. The staff is also very friendly. We didn't have to wait long for our food. I had the plaice, which I really enjoyed. Unfortunately, I have to deduct one star because the restrooms on the first floor are quite cramped.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it! I was obviously there at the wrong time. After 17 minutes, without the waiter even giving me a glance, I left disappointed. The place wasn't very busy, by the way—there were several free tables. What a shame!

The two tablespoons of fried potatoes were swimming in vegetable sauce, the fish was unseasoned, and there was no horseradish. Totally disappointed! I didn't feel full.

Very good food, great smoked fish platter, nice service

A beautifully decorated restaurant right next to the swing bridge—a real highlight when the boats pass by. The view of the lake (depending on your seat) completes the feel-good factor. The service was very attentive, answered all questions, and, above all, everything was very child-friendly. For a restaurant specializing in fish, the menu was appropriately designed, and all of our chosen dishes were delicious. A must for anyone who loves fish. We'd love to come back!

From fried fish to halibut and char (from the Müritz), everything is available. Very friendly and accommodating. As always with fish sandwiches: one with a really good bakery roll would be great, and they also offer regular pre-baked rolls. Cash only, fish sandwiches from €5.

Every time we visit Malchow, "Dat Fischhus" is our first stop. We've never been disappointed. The fish is fresh. The fish smokehouse is right next door. It's always entertaining to watch the swing bridge at work.

From a large selection, we chose several VERY tasty fish sandwiches from the in-house shop. We were also able to eat them inside without any problems. Thanks to the extremely friendly service. Extremely delicious fish sandwiches at a good price. Drinks outside take a while, as out of season there's apparently only one server inside and outside. But absolutely recommended.

Delicious fish in variations. Good value for money. Fish isn't cheap. Our dog was welcome.

A very centrally located fish restaurant right next to the swing bridge. We really liked the furnishings, not excessive but appropriate. The staff was very friendly and we had our ordered drinks in a short time. After a reasonable wait, the fish platter we ordered was served to us. It tasted exceptionally good, was beautifully presented and we enjoyed our meal with great appetite. We can fully recommend this restaurant. The price was quite high, but justified for this great meal. Thank you very much for your good hospitality, we will definitely come back on our next vacation! The restaurant also offers fish sandwiches and freshly smoked fish to take away as a snack.

Company holidays without notice on the website or social media. It says “open” everywhere, so I came in vain. Unreliable, what a shame!

It's a shame, actually we are satisfied guests who come here every now and then and eat because the location and the food are very harmonious. Same today, because Google told us “open”. Unfortunately there was a sign at the entrance saying “Company holidays! We’ll be back in March.” You are welcome to publish such information on the homepage.

The anticipation of a delicious fish dish (salmon fillet with vegetables and sweet potato puree) was great, but unfortunately our expectations were suddenly disappointed when we saw the plate, even though NO children's portion was ordered. Only the taste of the food was positive. Unfortunately, the price/performance ratio was very poor because other dishes ordered at the table were only €2 more expensive, but there was twice as much on the plate.

We had lunch there today. The ambience is appealing. The service is friendly. The fish dishes tasted very good. I would like to warn you about the duck breast dish because the potatoes were too hard, the Brussels sprouts didn't taste good and, worst of all, the duck breast was tough and not cooked through. After we complained, the food didn't come back any better. Attached are some pictures. If we only rated the fish dishes, it would be 5 stars. Highly recommended for a fish eater.

Man merkte beim reinkommen das die Bedienung keine Lust hatte. Das Essen war lau warm und der auf der Haut gebratene Zander hatte noch so gut wie alle schuppen. Sind dann nachhause gefahren und haben uns Brötchen gemacht.

Unfortunately I didn't feel welcome today. Fried potatoes weren't cooked through, cucumber salad was more like raw cucumber food, unfortunately the service ladies were very tasteless, which is a shame. Our drinks were empty, no one came to ask, with 9 guests apparently no one wanted to make money. We would have liked an 'apology' after our criticism ...just one word.🤔

The fish couldn't be any fresher...we ate sooo well. Very friendly service in a very nice house... a little tip: It's better to order in advance. Places are in demand😉

Wir waren bei unserem ersten Besuch so begeistert, dass wir gleich mehrmals in unserem Urlaub da essen waren. Es gibt eine reichhaltige Auswahl an Fischgerichten, welche liebevoll angerichtet und geschmacklich top sind. Auch preislich sehr zu empfehlen. Mit einer super netten Bedienung und der dem Blick auf den Yachthafen mit seiner Drehbrücke fühlten wir uns sehr wohl.

From the street it looks completely unspectacular. It gets more comfortable in the back. But it could be much nicer for the first place on the bridge. Food top (taste like the quantity) price definitely affordable. More towards cheap and expensive.

We were passing through and decided on this restaurant. It was a very good decision. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was great and the service was very friendly. The fried plaice and the herring rolls are highly recommended. As a starter, the fried prawns were delicious. All the plates were beautifully presented and the food was simply fresh and very tasty! We would have liked to eat here, but unfortunately we were turned away. So they missed out on three meals because a child got a waffle from a neighbor and sat at our table. We found that very customer-unfriendly and intolerant.

Das Essen war lecker. Wir hatten Scholle mit Kartoffelsalat und Saibling mit Bratkartoffeln. Alles war pikant im Geschmack. Die Speisekarte hat den Schwerpunkt beim Fisch 🐟 was in diesem Restaurant so zu erwarten ist. Die Bedienung war sehr aufmerksam und auch der Wunsch nach einer Änderung (glutenfrei) war überhaupt kein Problem. Das ist ein klares Anzeichen für die frische Zubereitung. Das Ambiente ist schön direkt an der Drehbrücke aber von der Ausstattung solide. Vom Preis ist das Verhältnis mit der Leistung in Ordnung und passt. Dieses Restaurant ist ein Besuch wert und wir empfehlen es.

Keines unserer 4 Gerichte (Scholle, Rotbarsch, Saibling, Fischertopf) reichte auch nur an ein Durchschnittsniveau heran. Ungewürzt und trocken bzw. klumpig. Die Lage allein rechtfertigt diese Mit nderleistung nicht.

Am Fischbrötchenverkauf im hinteren Teil der Außenterrasse sprang uns das Angebot eines hausgemachten Kartoffelsalats mit geräuchertem Rotbarsch zu einem wirklich annehmbaren Preis ins Auge. Wir haben bestellt, bezahlt, probiert und waren begeistert. Der Fisch war frisch, saftig und das positive Gegenteil von dem, was man so vom normalen Angebot im Binnenland kennt. Die Getränke dazu wurden serviert. Eine Karte gab es nicht und die Preise waren das Gegenteil derer vom Essen. Fast 10 Euro für ein kleines Wasser und eine kleine Cola passiert uns hier nicht noch einmal, auch wenn wir den Fisch gern bei kommender Gelegenheit wieder genießen möchten

Great atmosphere right on the swing bridge on the water... the best fish we've had in a long time, if we had known that we would have eaten there days before... the taste was way up there and great service too..

Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the food. We were attracted by the beautiful ambience and the dishes on the menu also sounded very promising. Unfortunately we were then taught otherwise. The plaice was quite tasteless and the cucumber salad was also not very seasoned. The fried potatoes were the best part of the whole dish. The pasta with salmon was replaced by the peas and presented with a not very tasty sauce. At €23.90, the dish is far overpriced and not recommended. Service was ok but also not very passionate. We cannot recommend the restaurant.

What a wonderful city, and it has an amazingly delicious restaurant! The herring fillet with fried potatoes is very tasty here, I will definitely come back to try something else delicious from them🥰

Hello, it's strange that I wrote something we didn't like yesterday. But the comment is gone. There will probably be reasons for it. So again, the "fresh" smoked fish was not what it should have been. The char seemed to us as if it had been frozen before and had come back to life. The trout was smoked dead. I wrote something more “loving” yesterday. Someone probably didn't want that. Nevertheless, go and enjoy the ships passing by.
