We've eaten very well at Greek restaurants many times. The food here was not just very good, it was excellent!

We spent our last evening here at the Greek restaurant by the lake today, and it was the perfect end to our vacation! The staff was super friendly and accommodating, the food incredibly delicious and prepared with love. We felt completely at home and can only recommend everyone to eat here in this beautiful setting! The next time we're in the area, we'll definitely stop by again—it was more than worth it! ✨ Many thanks to the entire team at the Greek restaurant by the lake for this wonderful evening and the amazing food! Keep up the good work—you're amazing!

Very attractive restaurant with a cozy courtyard. The restaurant inside is nicely decorated. The influences of old buildings are well showcased. The food we ordered came quickly and tasted very good.

We had reserved a table - which turned out to be absolutely right, because the restaurant was already full when we arrived, and a larger group even arrived shortly after us. Our place was in a room next to the actual guest room, which was also cozy and tastefully furnished. The service was attentive and friendly. It was noticeable that because of the larger group and probably also temporary workers, everything didn't go quite smoothly that evening - for example, we were... B. addressed several times by different people, but overall it wasn't a problem. On the contrary: they clearly tried to ensure that we didn't lack anything. We decided not to have a starter because we were told that it would be served together with the main course because of the large group - which wouldn't have made any sense for us. The main course came for all four at the same time, which we found very pleasant. I had souvlaki – beautifully prepared with high quality, tender meat. The side salad was also fresh and tasty. At the end there was fried ice cream and a classic Greek mocha - a nice end to an all-round successful evening. Conclusion: Very good food, friendly service and a pleasant atmosphere. We felt very comfortable and can definitely recommend “The Greek by the Lake”.

Sooo, we had the pleasure - and yes, by that I mean pleasure (those who know more than one post from me know I'm very strict) to be able to eat here. First of all: I'm not a fan of meat myself and I'm not really a fan of Greek either, so my attitude in advance is "Come on, I'll do my partner a favor". Thank you for allowing me to now correct my judgment. The prices are high, but the portions are correspondingly large! So they shouldn't scare you away. The taste was A1, the best saziki I've eaten so far, and the waiting time was more than fair. Yes, I can understand that some comments here are negative because they then had to wait - but I'm deducting stars for that... I don't see that myself. The team is super warm and attentive. If we are in Malchow again, we will visit here again. Small constructive suggestions: - Pictures on the menu help you get an overview of the portion size (we fought hard in the end - but won against the gyros!) - Vegetarian dishes also as main menu - And at the Alster. First beer then soda. And as you can see - despite reviews. 5 stars from us! See you soon :)!

A very nice atmosphere...despite not having booked in advance, we received a friendly welcome. The selection is great and not too much. We didn't have to wait for drinks or food. The best metaxas sauce tender meat very highly recommended. Thank you, we'll be back.❤

Never again! Very unfriendly boss, very long and incomprehensible waiting times to get a table, when you ask you are approached almost aggressively and provocatively! Insecure staff are shouted at by the boss in front of guests! The food took a long time, but it was good! The farewell was very cool! Many guests were left standing, even though many tables were empty and not reserved!

Gastronomic disaster! I have a lot of experience in gastronomy, including star gastronomy. We arrived and were asked to wait because there was no room! The boss didn't give any indication of how long it might take! He did this with many guests! There were at least 3 tables free! When he came after 30 minutes, he attacked my wife massively and provocatively. You can tell by looking at her whether she was dissatisfied! I then said that we had also eaten during this time. The mood of the rest of the service staff was also noticeably bad and negative! Then the boss also shouted with the staff in front of guests, which is absolutely "no go"! We will never enter this restaurant again!

We stopped by there spontaneously and were totally surprised. This Greek definitely stands out from the "standard Greeks". Here you will find fresh and very tasty food, very attentive service and a great ambience. We'd love to come back!

It was our first time at the “Griechen am See” – five of us plus one child – and this evening was simply perfect. So much so that we ended up reserving a table for the next evening! The reservations and all processes in the restaurant went smoothly. I can't understand these negative reviews in any way. Why were we so excited? Quite simply: everything was outstanding! 11 out of 10. The best Greek place we've been to so far and we've been to a lot of them. Many different fresh herbs are used in the preparation and organic quality is used. This statement from the boss didn't surprise me either. The starters were already a delight: the saganaki had a strong taste, was wonderfully melted on the inside and crispy on the outside - that's exactly how it should be. Plus perfectly grilled pepperoni as a spicy start. The side salad was extremely fresh and the house dressing was simply sensational - fruity notes, a subtle mustard note and so well seasoned that we will probably dream about it for a long time. I know, it's bold, but that's just how it was. The main course was really impressive: The gyro was perfectly balanced in terms of fat content - juicy, crispy, sliced ​​neither too thick nor too thin. It doesn't get any better. The grill plate offered a great selection of aromatic seasoned meats, and the T-bone steak was grilled to perfection - with roasted aromas on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. The chicken breast was also excellently prepared - nice and juicy, not a bit dry, which is really not a given. The bifteki was definitely homemade – so fresh, juicy and full of flavor that it immediately won us over. The Metaxa sauce was a real highlight: incredibly spicy, creamy, and simply delicious - we have never eaten it so well. The Kritharaki with vegetables and feta was also great - the different vegetables created a fine combination of different flavors that harmonized really nicely with each other. Even the fries were special: cut a little thicker, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside - so simple and yet exceptionally good. And the little ones are also thought of here: our child was given his fish fingers right at the start, which we found to be very attentive - great service that thinks for itself. Speaking of service: it was absolutely outstanding – indescribably friendly, warm, attentive and yet wonderfully unobtrusive. We felt completely welcome as guests. Our conclusion: “The Greek by the Lake” is an absolute must in Malchow. Everything is just right here – from the first to the last bite, from the ambience to the hospitality. Thank you for this wonderful evening – we are really looking forward to our next visit!

I've never written a review before, but I really wanted to leave one for this restaurant because it was simply exceptional and should truly be experienced by everyone. We ate with my husband and our two children in the “Griechen am See” restaurant and were absolutely thrilled. At the beginning we asked if we could eat in an empty side room because it would simply be more comfortable with the children if they got a little louder. The staff was very friendly and offered us a place immediately. We originally planned to order a rump steak, but the waiter recommended the T-bone steak. At first we were unsure because we were disappointed at another restaurant because the steak had a lot of bones. But we trusted the waiter and it was the best decision ever! The steak was simply outstanding – tender, juicy and cooked perfectly. The steak was served with delicious garlic and rosemary potatoes on the side, which tasted simply delicious. We also had an antipasti platter which was customized to our taste as we don't like fish. It was a real explosion of flavors - from the potatoes to the salad, which was prepared with a unique sauce. For dessert I wanted to try a soufflé, but unfortunately it was sold out. Instead, the waiter recommended fried ice cream, which I was happy to try. It was the most delicious dessert I have ever eaten - puff pastry, enveloping liquid vanilla ice cream, and a delicious berry compote. The thought of this dessert still makes my mouth water! We come from Hamburg and would come back anytime just to enjoy this fantastic food. The restaurant offers an excellent dining experience that should not be missed.

Exceptionally good Greek in Malchow After a week of fish and Mecklenburg cuisine, we were in the mood for a culinary change. We decided on the Greek restaurant by the lake in the picturesque island town of Malchow. The Greek, who is in the island hotel with a beautiful inner courtyard, deserves an extra point just for the beautiful location between the old town and the lakeshore. In addition to the inner courtyard summer terrace, the restaurant has a modern, cozy guest room with tasteful, high-quality furnishings - I really liked the Italian designer wall lamps from Catellani & Smith. The Greek operating family not only offers authentic dishes from their homeland - the service is also characterized by Greece's famous hospitality. To start we had the obligatory tzatziki with toasted garlic bread. The main courses, bifteki and a meze plate were excellently prepared. The bifteki is aromatic, juicy and light - no comparison to the hard-fried dry pieces of meat that are often offered. The meze plate was sensationally good - a great selection of wonderfully spicy starter classics. They were hands down the best meze we've ever tasted outside of Greece. The Greek by the Lake is our recommendation for authentic, perfectly prepared Greek cuisine.

Didn't preorder on Saturdays at 7pm and still got a table for 4. Even though the restaurant was full. Staff not hectic at all, very friendly but not intrusive. Price performance okay. If it tastes great, I'm happy to pay a little more. Even the salad before the main course... a pleasure. A few more herbs here, a leaf of lamb's lettuce there... and the dressing... oh my god, it was delicious. The gyros were great, plentiful. The fries... indescribable, almost fluffy. Not just any snack sticks. And the ouzo we ordered was on the house. Gladly again ladies and gentlemen!

Unfortunately we couldn't make a reservation. 6 people spontaneously... were pushed between for a maximum of 60 minutes. Everything was quick and chaotic... in the end we didn't care, we were hungry. Food very tasty, but quite expensive. Then you do it on vacation.

We ate at this restaurant 5 times yesterday. Sometimes as a couple and sometimes as a family (+2 kids). The hospitality is always outstanding and very noteworthy. There is something for everyone on the menu. For me personally, the gyros on offer are one of the best I've ever eaten (structure/herbs/flavor). We enjoy being guests there and for us it is one of the best restaurants we have here in the region.

Pre-reservation was not possible. Since we were there around 6 p.m., we still got seats. The food and service were very good

The food was good and freshly prepared, and the service was friendly and attentive despite the full house. We couldn't understand why we couldn't reserve a table. Had to go there on a “good luck” basis. It would have been stupid if we had driven so many kilometers for nothing.

To cut a long story short, unpleasant charred plastic smell in the restaurant (OK, maybe that's what happened in the kitchen). Service was friendly (but forgot parts of the order). Food: well, everything is a matter of taste, but gyros have a very high fat content in the skewer, metaxa sauce was at least 50% cream, and there were plastic parts in the calamari that were sold as bones, our little one's nuggets came out of the fry almost burnt. Yes, when there is stress in a location, things can go wrong.... But it was the middle of the week and the restaurant wasn't full... So no, not again

Hello, we ate here with four people and tested various dishes on the menu. We are very positively surprised by the quality of the food. It was nice that the dishes were balanced, i.e. not too meat-heavy. From our point of view, it is a very good recommendation to stay here. Thanks to the whole team and keep it up

No telephone availability during opening hours - and that in October and therefore outside the summer season. The automatic announcement is also embarrassing: bad acoustics, incomprehensible content, talks about the summer season in October.

I travel around the world a lot, but I haven't discovered such a delicious Greek restaurant yet! Fine, top-class gyros and other Greek dishes prepared with esprit are unparalleled. Add to that Greek hospitality with unobtrusive, friendly service, what more could you want? Maybe you have to wait for a table or no one answers the phone to reserve a table? I guess they just don't have time for it. I can't understand the strange bad reviews, but maybe they are fake reviews from envious market competitors or also called competitors with no chance...

We were there as a group. A very tastefully decorated restaurant with friendly service. Due to bad experiences (e.g. with guests not showing up), there is no telephone reservation option in the summer season. Mam actually has to show up twice. Once to reserve and once as a guest and then only with at least eight people if you want to reserve. Understandable, but unsatisfactory. To enjoy this beautiful restaurant, you have to dig a little deeper into your pockets. For normal earners, this works once or twice depending on the length of the vacation. On the other hand, quality has its price. However, for cost reasons, after a lovely evening, we opted for Italian and German restaurants.

Ich komme aus der Region Hamburg. Dort habe ich noch keinen Griechen gefunden der >20,- Euro für ein Bifteki nimmt. Der Salat war ok, bestand aber vorwiegend aus Eisberg-Blättern. Keine Olive, keine Pepperoni, kein Krautsalat. Bifteki ok aber nichts wirklich besonderes. Alles ok aber zu teuer für die Leistung.

We stayed in the attached Hotel Inselhof and ate in the restaurant in the evening. Quality and quantity were great. Service very friendly. Prices are absolutely ok for what is on offer. The inner courtyard is very lovingly designed with access to the lake. Everything is very nicely designed. Gladly again.

Very nice atmosphere...great courtyard...very warmly laid out. Unfortunately my grilled feta was cold, but it was tasty. The two waiters...a younger and an older one seemed very tense and sometimes unfriendly. Ouzo was available warm and only upon request.

I actually don't like writing 5 star reviews because the room for improvement has to be minimal. But in my opinion there was a lot going on in this restaurant. The location is very central, there are 6 free parking spaces available, the restaurant itself is very large so you don't need a reservation and there are enough service staff for quick service. Why 5 stars? The food is simply phenomenally good. Without exception. I assumed a standard run-of-the-mill Greek with the obligatory free ouzo to start. But here a lot of attention was paid to the quality of the food. We were thrilled. We had gyros and bifteki. It was fantastic. The price is a little above the norm, but you also get a very large portion of the dish. I would come back here at any time. Thank you for this experience!

Da wir sehr gern in griechische Restaurants gehen, haben wir das auch hier gemacht. Unsere Erwartungen und die guten Rezensionen wurden nicht erfüllt. Kein leckerer Salat (bestand fast nur aus billigem Eisbergsalat, kein knuspriges Gyros (grobe Brocken und nochmals in Öl gewälzt), Bier zu warm. Diese „Leistungen“ haben dann auch noch einen unangemessen hohen Preis. Hier ist der Tourist willkommen zum abkassieren.
