Food was quite disappointing. The calamari were clearly frozen before being cooked, the chorizo was extremely hard, and the sweet potatoes didn’t taste fresh at all. Everything felt overpriced for the small portions served. Service wasn’t much better — we asked to be moved from a table right next to the entrance (where people were constantly walking by), but our request was completely ignored. Drinks arrived fairly quickly, but after we finished, no one came to check if we wanted another round. The waiter didn’t even hand the drink properly, just placed it down on the table without a word. The atmosphere was noisy, cold, and not inviting in the slightest. Overall, a really disappointing experience that felt far from the glowing reviews online. Honestly, it makes you wonder if all the 5-star ratings are bought — because this place was nowhere near what its rating suggests

We ordered various tapas for a light lunch. Lovely atmosphere in the Portuguese Quarter. We, a group of five, enjoyed our meal and the food was delicious.

Right at the beginning, we were asked if we had a reservation. After saying no, at a restaurant that still had plenty of room for our group, we received a rather unfriendly welcome. We ordered different dishes, but unfortunately, the paella was not good. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to any visitors from abroad, and even as a local, I won't be going back.

The seafood paella was unfortunately full of sand. Maybe one or two fewer tables, and don't skimp on the quality. It's very cramped, and when the staff are practically hanging in your face with their pants half-unzipped and their underwear showing, you wonder if they even know what a belt is. Definitely chaotic.

It was our first time here, and we had tapas as a starter and lamb and skewers as our main course. The food was absolutely fantastic. We'll be back, but only with a reservation.

Child-friendly, delicious, would love to come again

We chose this restaurant based on its excellent reviews. We received a friendly welcome, and the waiters were attentive. The restaurant is a bit dated, but it still retains a Mediterranean charm. After ordering, we quickly received our food: tapas and meat main courses. Everything was attractively presented and delicious. However, if you're looking for outstanding food, this is the wrong place: it was good, home-style cooking, but nothing more.

Apparently, this restaurant files a libel complaint if you write a negative review. Google removes these reviews in such cases, making it seem like the restaurant is above average, but that wasn't the case the night I went. The waiters were grumpy and seemed anything but interested in guests. We were rather bluntly reminded that crumbs on the menu weren't appreciated and that we had to eat our sandwiches above our plates. They also sighed and suggested we order everything at once, otherwise we'd have to wait quite a while. In the end, everything was on the table within fifteen minutes, which makes you think they were eager to see us leave as quickly as possible. The food was okay, but definitely not recommended. All the tapas, for example, were a bit disappointing. I don't easily leave something alone, but if your mouth tightens because it's so incredibly salty, you'll quickly get tired after a few bites.

A cozy restaurant with attentive, fun-loving staff. The food was okay, but not great. We started with chestnuts and bacon. The chestnuts were convenience food, and the bacon was flabby. The pork fillet in pepper sauce was very good; the grilled sardines would have tasted and smelled better if they had been fresher for a day or two. The side dishes to accompany the sardines were delicious. The chocolate mousse was incredibly sweet and not very chocolatey, and the caramel pudding was good. The house white and red wines were very tasty. All in all, okay, but I won't go back again.

We were there with six people, and unfortunately, the service was a bit less friendly than on our previous visits. Another negative was that some dishes listed fries on the menu, but were served with wedges. When asked about it, the waiter simply replied, "Those are fries for us." Mayo had been completely forgotten, but it wasn't charged either. The remaining dishes were a bit dry due to the meat and could have used a bit more seasoning.

After a long day in Hamburg, we arrived at Praca de Coimbra, hungry and happy to have gotten a table. We were able to place our order quickly, and the drinks arrived remarkably quickly. The tapas with goat cheese and bacon we ordered as an appetizer were delicious. Up to this point, it was really good. However, the fact that they then served wedges as the house fries without any prior warning and then offered no alternative is truly disappointing. If I had been informed of this when ordering or on the menu, I could have chosen a different dish. I don't order fish either, and then I get served pork as the house sea bream. The fact that the staff didn't address our criticism at all and even insisted on suggesting an alternative instead, makes this a real disappointment in my opinion for a restaurant that advertises first-class service on its website. On top of that, the mayonnaise we ordered with the fries was missing. As for the rest of the dish, my ordered pork skewer was quite dry, but the grilled flavor was really delicious. However, the sauce was completely used up by the meat and shrimp, and there was nothing left for the plain rice. The staff also didn't ask at the table if everything was okay or if we wanted something to drink, for example. Which, for me, is simply a basic requirement for good, not even first-class, service. We then had to stop the waiters as they walked by so we could order more drinks. It's a shame; it was really good in principle, but I can't give the restaurant a higher rating.

Fish soup was good. Sauces were good. Meat was mediocre. Pastel de nata was very good. The ambiance itself was pleasantly Portuguese, but a large screen constantly showed advertisements for a resort in Polynesia. Annoying.

Very tasty tapas in a great atmosphere, served by friendly, funny staff.

This place is overrated. We had shrimp and squid as a starter and lamb leg (bog) as a main course. The squid tasted a bit "old", while the shrimp would have been better with a little more garlic and Spanish pepper. The lamb was boringly prepared, with potatoes and rice as a side dish. And the wine, the house red, was far too warm.

We had reserved a table online six weeks ago and had it confirmed. When we arrived promptly at five o'clock, we were rather annoyed to discover that the online reservation hadn't been entered into the reservation book. Instead of apologizing or being creative, we were simply left standing in the entrance area with the words that it might take a while. The group of four without a reservation, who had already been waiting for a while, was then seated. When we asked if we could have something to drink, the menu was shoved into our hands and the waiter disappeared until further notice. We were standing massively in the way and were constantly being asked to move aside by guests and waiters, understandably. At some point, a table was finally ready for us, but our order was taken in an unfriendly and stressed manner; we felt like we were simply being a nuisance. The food was rather (below) average, but the most annoying thing was that someone in the kitchen apparently couldn't tell parsley from cilantro. The mussels were served in a soapy broth and weren't particularly high quality themselves—I've had better ones from the supermarket. All in all, the evening was a disappointment, and when I deliberately didn't leave a tip, the waiter repeatedly had trouble entering the amount into the card reader and became rude.

Unfortunately, this time it wasn't as good as usual. The service was forgetful, and some of the fish was way too salty. What a shame.

We went for dinner on October 3rd and luckily had a reservation. It was packed, even outside. 😳 We received a very friendly welcome and were shown to our table. We were given the menu right away, and after about 5 minutes, someone came and asked for drinks. We had already chosen our food and ordered right away. The drinks took less than 3 minutes. 😳 Along with the drinks came a small greeting from the kitchen, which helped while we waited until our food arrived. After about 10 minutes, our tapas arrived. Very, very tasty and plentiful. 😍👍🏼 We were constantly asked if everything was okay and if we wanted anything else to drink. We had plenty of time to finish our meals in peace. Since there were always plenty of staff on hand, the tables were cleared away very attentively and promptly. After that, it took about another 10 minutes for the main course to arrive.😳 Perfectly prepared, very tasty, and the portions were generous. 😍👍🏼 I absolutely don't know how they managed to pull it all off so perfectly. You could see from the neighboring tables that it worked like that everywhere. Our utmost respect and thanks to the entire team.😍🥰 We felt very comfortable, despite the restaurant being packed. We will definitely eat with you again on our next visit to Hamburg.

It was a wonderful atmosphere with the best waiters who attended to and fulfilled every wish. The Portuguese food was very authentic and freshly prepared. The small tapas were the perfect size and filling. Definitely worth a visit!

We were there today. It was very busy! So everything took a while, which is okay. The service was nice, and the food was quite good. The fish and meat were very good. Be careful, don't order bread with aioli, because that's on the house. But if you specifically order it, you have to pay for it ;) All in all, it's quite okay.

It was extremely crowded and accordingly very loud. Our seat was more like an emergency table, right between the bar and the restroom, so it was obviously very busy, and we were right in the middle of it. The food still arrived after about 20 minutes...I had the fish soup and the goat cheese with honey and walnuts. Unfortunately, both were extremely salty...my lips really burned after a while. I drank my bottle of iced tea right away. The service was very nice, though 😊

We were here on a weekday, quite late in the evening. The food was incredibly delicious and arrived quickly. We had a variety of tapas. We highly recommend the bacon-wrapped dates, shrimp, and bacon-wrapped feta cheese. The prices were perfectly reasonable for downtown Hamburg. We sat outside; it's always great outside in the summer. We were very satisfied!

Although I have to say I was initially a bit skeptical about eating tapas in Hamburg, I was pleasantly surprised! All the tapas were delicious, and the garlic prawns were especially impressive. All the other main courses were also very good, and the portions were huge! I also really liked the fact that they gave you a fresh baguette with an aioli dip on the house. Overall, I highly recommend it and definitely worth a visit! :)

Today, we were inspired by the lunchtime menu and ordered rabbit in a clay pot and tapas. We enjoyed everything. Regarding the feta with honey, I would have preferred something more sophisticated, like warming the cheese and then adding honey with rosemary and walnuts. Instead, the cheese was cold and covered in honey.

We stumbled upon this place by chance, and we were in the mood for some tapas. We weren't disappointed; the fire prawns are a spectacle in themselves and very tasty.

The tapas were mediocre: the pimentos were undercooked, as was the squid, the minced meat balls in tomato sauce weren't very spicy, the artichokes (from a jar) in Gorgonzola were (a little) lacking in flavor, the paella was okay, only the cod croquettes were very good... the rosé wine was good, the service was friendly, but still a shame... for €65 for two, I wouldn't recommend it.

The Praça de Coimbra restaurant is located in the Portuguese Quarter, near the Landungsbrücken (landing bridges) in beautiful Hamburg. The ambiance inside is very appealing, and the service (the owner) was super friendly and accommodating. They offered different types of gin that I hadn't heard of before. There was a nice selection of tapas, all lovingly prepared. We'd love to come back :)

Tastes differ, and I personally didn't like it. The welcome dip wasn't chilled due to the weather. The appetizers were forgotten. The fish was only lukewarm. The rest of the group enjoyed it. And we had to wait forever for the bill.

The food wasn't particularly special; the fish platter was okay, and the black burger was very lackluster. (With two exceptions,) the staff, in particular, were extremely annoyed and emotionless. They didn't even say "hello" when ordering, instead glaring into the distance. Drinks were slammed down at the end of the table without comment, and you were left to distribute them yourself. The table by the street was quite nice, but could also use a wipe down between each group. Increasing the cleaning intervals wouldn't hurt for the restrooms either...

A very nice late dinner. Fresh tapas of seafood, meat, and goat cheese. Relaxed atmosphere, very friendly staff, good value for money – a good choice, we will definitely be back!

The service was friendly, fast, and very attentive. Good draft beer and very, very tasty food. For starters, we had bread with spread as a small token of appreciation from the kitchen. After that, we had the tagliatelle with prawns and the sardines; the child had the hamburger. The value for money is good, as the portions aren't exactly small. Highly recommended, definitely.

The patatas bravas were delicious, as was the goat cheese. Unfortunately, the calamari didn't seem homemade, which is a shame for €8.

A Portuguese restaurant, run by Portuguese people, with good food and Portuguese beer. It was very busy the day we went, so the service was a bit slow. The Portuguese staff were very friendly.

A portugese restauraunt in the portugese quarter of Hamburg. So competition is guaranteed, but the Coimbra and its staff live up to the challenge: Service is perfect even on a busy Friday evening, food well prepared, good selection, quickly served. Location is cosy. Not knowing about the other food joints around, Coimbra is a solid choice. To make it special, choose lemon or orange ice cream for desert ;-)

We started with some tapas (paella and dates), as well as fish soup and tomato salad. Everything was delicious. The main courses, however, were unfortunately a bit overcooked, both the fish and the meat. It was also misleading that the meat was supposed to come with fries, but they were potato wedges, although tasty. Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse at the end. We ordered two Cardenal Mendoza and were excited because they arrived hanging on a special rack with a tea light… only the tea light wasn't lit! We asked for a lighter, and the waiter looked at us in surprise. One of the glasses fell out of its holder, shattered, and the contents spilled onto my husband's trousers. The question of whether everything was okay is really irrelevant. New glasses arrived on the rack, and another waiter tried to light the tea lights while they were still on the tray. He succeeded with one, but with the other, he gave up after several attempts and silently placed the rack and glass on the table. I don't understand why they don't either get a new tea light or simply leave out the cinnabar altogether if it doesn't work. And a little recognition for the dirty pants would have been a more conciliatory ending. Unfortunately, that's not the case.

Spontan sind wir an einem Samstag Abend hier gelandet. Da es bei gutem Wetter im Quartier sehr gut besucht war hatten wir Glück, 2 Plätze draußen bekommen zu haben. Die Bestellung hat ein wenig gedauert - nachvollziehbar bei der Auslastung. Aber auch im weiteren Verlauf hatten wir nicht das Gefühl besonderer Gastlichkeit. Wir hatten nur 7 verschiedene Tapas ausgesucht, die allerdings erst nach 50 Minuten gebracht wurden. Geschmacklich nichts besonderes und auch weitestgehend kalt. Auf unsere Reaktion auf die Frage "hat es geschmeckt?" beim Bezahlen kam lediglich die Anmerkung, dass wir eher etwas hätten sagen sollen. Unser Hinweis, dass ja keine der Bedienungen uns zwischendurch seine Aufmerksamkeit geschenckt hat wurde nur mit einem Achselzucken reagiert. Fazit: Für das Geld hätten wir definitiv woanders mehr davon gehabt. Wir gehen nächstes mal am "Coimbra" vorbei.

Bland Meets Boring – A Forgettable Meal My linguini with courgettes sauce left me baffled. Where’s the flavor? It’s like bland meets boring on a plate. It tasted like it was scared of the spice rack. On the bright side, the staff was polite and the ambiance pleasant, which made the letdown from the kitchen all the more disappointing. I genuinely hope the chef revisits the basics — good food starts with bold seasoning and some soul.

We ate there yesterday on the recommendation of a friend. When we made a reservation, the waitress was very friendly and I was really looking forward to delicious fish. The reception yesterday from the waiter who was there was very cold... bordering on unfriendly. Since I couldn't decide on the fish, I opted for the surprise fish platter. The plate looked appealing, but the fish was dead... stone dead. The shrimp wouldn't come out of its shell and seemed to have been sitting there for a while. Since I'm not one to return a plate, I ate it. When the waiter asked how it was, I told him politely. His reaction was... they ate it anyway and left. So only 2 stars from me... for the restaurant and for my husband's meal.

We were here as a family. There was something for everyone. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The food was absolutely delicious. The price is, of course, correspondingly higher – at €40 per person, it's definitely on the high side. Nevertheless, we had a lot of fun, ate well, and will definitely come back again.

The only downsides are the cheap olives in the appetizer and the noise level in the restaurant. Otherwise, everything was great. Top-notch service, very tasty fish. Better here than the Störtebeker fish restaurant.

Unfortunately, my visit to this restaurant was disappointing. The service left a lot to be desired: the waiter seemed annoyed, didn't greet us in a friendly manner, and didn't smile even once. Guests felt unwelcome. I strongly recommend that management train their staff in hospitality. In a restaurant, it's not just the food that counts, but also how you feel as a guest. There's clearly room to improve this. I won't be returning. The situation when paying was particularly unpleasant – I was questioned about why I tipped so little. As far as I know, tipping is voluntary in Germany and should be a sign of satisfaction, not a mandatory contribution. This expectation seemed unreasonable. The food was fine, but the unfriendly service unfortunately completely overshadowed the experience. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback to heart and works on improving its customer service.

The service was very friendly and caring. We dropped our bags till the lunch in order to check out the surroundings light weight. The food was delicious. Especially the fish soup which is too cheap for its quality. Would love to come again.

Every dish is made with love from the perfectly cooked bacalhau to the hearty grilled meats. Portions are generous, the flavours are honest, and the vibe is truly authentic. You can tell this place is run with pride. The staff? Genuinely kind and welcoming, happy to share stories or recommend a glass of vinho verde. And Don’t skip dessert.

If you didn't realize you were sitting in the middle of Hamburg, this restaurant could really be in Coimbra. The food and drinks are authentic Portuguese. Service is friendly and welcoming. Make sure to make a reservation on weekends. The rabbit may not look as spectacular in the picture, but it tasted excellent.

Quite spontaneously after work, the three of us decided to end the day in the Portuguese Quarter. We passed by the Praça de Coimbra restaurant. The overall ambiance of the outdoor dining area convinced us to go there for tapas. The welcome at our table outside was friendly, and we were asked if we wanted a larger table. The drinks and food orders were taken quite quickly, and as soon as we finished ordering, the drinks arrived. We also wanted to order bread with dip, but were very kindly informed that it would be served beforehand as an amuse-bouche. We found this extremely thoughtful. Overall, the food was very tasty, fresh, and appetizingly presented. It was a pleasant experience, and we had a relaxing time with friendly and good service. The desserts we ordered were also simply delicious. Highly recommended.

Estábamos planeando ir a Casa Madeira, pero decidimos visitar Praça de Coimbra en su lugar porque la comida que se sirve se veía muy bien. Tuvimos la suerte de sentarnos inmediatamente y procedimos a pedir sopa de pescado con conchas y camarones, alcachofas con gorgonzola, camarones quemados en ajo, calamares a la parrilla, y un plato tradicional portugués llamado Cordero en la camarilla. Para cuando estábamos a través de nuestra comida, estábamos absolutamente llenos y muy satisfechos con nuestra orden. No hay lugar para el postre: ( Fuimos atendidos por Manuel que nos registró y cómo estábamos haciendo con nuestros pedidos. Sin duda un pulgar hacia arriba y planeamos volver en cuando visitemos Hamburgo. Coimbra fue un agradable hallazgo, y no dudaremos en recomendar a nuestra familia y amigos para hacer una visita a este lugar. Estábamos sentados a lo largo del pavimento que era agradable
