Restaurant Casa Madeira in Hamburg

We can only recommend this restaurant to a limited extent. Anyone who likes tourist rip-offs likes it. If you want to eat, you will be given a time slot of 45 minutes in advance. In no time at all, as soon as you order, the food arrives. Comfortable is different. Portuguese hospitality is different. True, 5 years ago the world was still in order. The food is nothing extra! Carelessly prepared. It's a shame that it turned out this way

We have been to Casa Madeira twice in the last two weeks: the first time by chance, the second time because it was very good. Fish plate and fish pan very tasty, varied and rich, the vegetables cooked to perfection. Service nice and accommodating. Happy to come back!

We wanted to eat tapas from the daily menu and were rudely seated at a table that was already occupied. They tried to talk us out of the tapas so we could order the more expensive version. In the end, considering the price, the food was not only very little, but also undecorated and without bread. It was only at my request that we received simple white bread. Unfortunately, the taste of the food was also rather average. In any case, we were very dissatisfied with the service and could therefore not recommend Casa Madeira.

Very, very unfortunate. A few years ago everything was great at Casa Madeira, but things continued to decline and the last experience there was sublime. The restaurant is only looking for a quick euro. Despite reservations, there was no option for two people to occupy a nice table for four. No, there was an assignment to a table for two either in the middle of the restaurant, right in front of the open portal to the outside (my back would have thanked the draft), or in the other room, tightly parked in a small niche. Yes, it was extremely full in the entire Portuguese Quarter and I understand that they want to allocate all the seats sensibly, but after 1.5 hours they are then asked to leave... Without words. My friend hadn't even finished her wine and I hadn't even finished my large bottle of water. We then waited for someone to come and collect. Instead, the same waiter came again and asked why we were still sitting there. LOL!!! But I didn't lack the words to communicate my displeasure in a polite manner. If they had pointed out a 90-minute slot to us when we made the reservation, it would have been up to us to decide whether we wanted to take it or not. But to be presented with a fait accompli and to be complemented out in this way is beneath everything 🐽 There was still a tip because the young ladies were really very friendly. Conclusion: Casa Madeira, I won't come to you anymore. I'd rather go to Franco 😉

Everything was very very tasty.

The service was nice and prompt. Caipirinhas were super yummy. The food was a bit oily and could have been a bit more hot when arriving at the table. We had the grilled fish plate and the Surf‘n Turf. Portions are big and we found the potatoes really tasty.

Very good cuisine. The prices here are absolutely proportional, That's not much for the delicious dishes. The staff is so nice and even the most stressful doesn't bother anyone here and everyone is always in a good mood. You have to try the paella and of course the countless fish dishes. You can also come here without a reservation, the little bit of waiting is a minor matter. Since the frequency is good, something becomes available every now and then, even on weekends. The menu is varied and meat dishes (spare ribs, rump steak, chicken) can be found alongside the many fish dishes. Great selection. We'll be back. Thank you and Obrigado!

Ordenado en el menú de Tapas, no es una selección particularmente grande para elegir. Apegados a lo básico, de patatas bravas, boquerones, y el plato de tapas de la casa. Las bravas estaban secas , con una salsa insípida, la selección de carnes en el plato de tapas no eran particularmente frescas. We recently had the pleasure of dining at Casa Madeira in the heart of the Portugiesenviertel in Hamburg - and we loved it! As soon as you enter the restaurant you feel like you are in Portugal: the warm colors, the lovely wall paintings and the Mediterranean ambience immediately put you in a holiday mood. The atmosphere is warm and the entire team's friendliness ensures a thoroughly successful evening. From a culinary point of view, Casa Madeira impressed us across the board. The fish dishes in particular are highly recommended – fresh, aromatic and perfectly prepared. There are also wonderfully coordinated side dishes that underline the quality of the main dishes. When it comes to wine selection, you'll definitely find what you're looking for, regardless of whether you love Spanish or Portuguese wine. Personally, I found it a little too cramped as the tables are very close to each other. The restaurant actually consists of two separate units and the staff always has to run back and forth, so a star deduction for the ambience. In terms of price, Casa Madeira is absolutely reasonable, especially considering the high-quality ingredients and the excellent preparation. For us, despite the ambience, it was a completely perfect evening - a little piece of Portugal in the middle of Hamburg. We will definitely be back and can recommend Casa Madeira to anyone who wants to enjoy authentic Portuguese cuisine!

we didn't eat there as they seemd not interested and were quite rude when we said tapas only. so we went across the road and spent loads of money on wine and Tapas and were out in less than an hour Their loss . especially when they were nearly empty.

The food was dripping with fat, the salmon was frozen and the turkey was bloody on the inside. The only food that was ok was the steak. Tables etc. are much too close together - it feels like you're in a chicken coop.

The restaurant is very simply furnished, you sit very close together. It is divided into two by the entrance area, which means that the waiters have to keep leaving one part of the restaurant and going into the other part directly opposite. So the front door keeps opening and closing. The food was super tasty, except for the spaghetti with shrimp, which was a bit blandly seasoned. However, the fish soup, tapa plate and steak were super tasty. The waiters very friendly. Unfortunately there was a strong smell of chlorine in the restaurant, which was very unpleasant at first.

The restaurant is divided into two rooms, one kitchen and one counter. The door opens all the time and the cold air from outside comes in. Therefore there is no coziness. The tables will be assigned, advantage. But you can't say you want a table, otherwise you'll get it right at the door. As soon as you're done, you have to vacate the place. Otherwise the table or chair will be kicked at every opportunity. The conditions calculate his tip himself. It's unprofessional and arrogant.

Gave the complete wrong food without explaining to customer. Ended up trying to justify saying the dish given was worth more than the one ordered, so no refund. Dish had different meat than ordered and cooked in alcohol, customer can not drink alcohol and they were aware of this.

We got a table for 8 people at short notice, service was really TOP despite the hut being full! Didn't wait long for anything. 7x fish dishes were very good, the lamb fillet was unfortunately tough at times, but that was forgiven as everything else was really great. Clear recommendation for a nice, cozy evening.

This was our third time in the Portuguese Quarter and we were disappointed with the food in this restaurant. The quality of the fish was very good, but the food came to the table lukewarm and we waited a relatively long time for the food. The fish were hardly seasoned, neither were the potatoes or vegetables. The price-performance ratio is poor. In other restaurants the lunch menu is €2-3 cheaper and comes with a mixed salad.

When the greeting from the kitchen came immediately after the unfriendly assigned seat, I should have noticed that it was a tourist rip-off. The beer was different and a larger one than ordered. The tapas of the house were a miniature snack plate with the cheapest ingredients. The goat cheese wrapped in bacon The taste and the tapas portion were minimalistic. The service was unfriendly and grumpy early in the evening. Not recommended in any way.

Went to the Portuguese Quarter on a recommendation and was briefly overwhelmed by the number of small restaurants. Just grabbed a free table at Casa Madeira and hoped for the best. If you want to sit outside, sit on the sidewalk. You have to like passers-by who walk 30 cm past the table and (a few) cars that drive past 3 meters away or just sit inside. Friendly and attentive service. As a family (2 adults - 2 children) we had the fish and meat platter for 2 people and it was outstanding. Meat is standard, but the fish is WORLD CLASS!!! Crispy on the outside and glassy on the inside. It couldn't be better to the point. Thank you for the great end to our Hamburg tour.

Kamen aus der Schweiz in die Ferien nach Hamburg. Ursprünglich kommen wir aber aus Portugal und sowohl Stimmung wie Essen erinnern an die Heimat hier. Als wir am Restaurant vorbeigelaufen sind, bin ich auf mein Belenenses Trikot angesprochen worden. Die offene Art hat wirklich der von Portugal erinnert. Wir entschieden da zu essen und wurden wirklich sehr gut serviert (qualität und quantität). Insgesamst eine super Erfahrung sowohl der Service wie das Essen waren perfekt.

Unfortunately we had a bad day. We ordered a grill plate for two people (€48), which was supposed to have salmon, shrimp, squid, sardines and fish of the day. Sardines were missing, there was no cutlery for eating, salmon and shrimp were still raw and at the end only a "sorry". Maybe next time we'll try someone else's place in the great Portuguese Quarter.

Had the chicken clay pot which tasted good . However both my colleague and I got terrible food poisoning afterwards. Some of the worst stomach pains I have experienced since being in Delhi. To top it off, the waiter who claimed he has been working 11 years incorrectly charged us 14 euros more. Luckily my payment didn’t go through and I called him for it. Food poisoning and scam service - yeah everyone should pass on this one.

Very bad. Everything was just for money. Tapa plate for two people with 4 prawns (if you can call them that, as they were incredibly small). You're not allowed to drink anything and you can't get your own table outside if you're just the two of you. Food was absolutely not satisfactory. It's more likely that tourists are being ripped off. It's a shame, we were actually happy and then very annoyed afterwards. It's better to move on and go somewhere else, you get more for your money.

We were here for lunch during the week. Short waiting time, food fresh and delicious. The price at lunchtime and the size of the portion were really great. We'll definitely come back.

The last time was about 20 years ago. here. Waitress obviously in a bad mood. Didn't even know what mini squids were. First there was bread with a greasy ready-made aioli cream. Had Steinbeisser fillet. Slightly rubbery consistency and very lightly seasoned. After dinner she asked how it was? I said, Well, that's fine. What does that mean? Instead of waiting for an answer, she said, But you finished eating and walked away. I didn't say it was bad, but that kind of service behavior isn't acceptable. That's why there were no tips, because you have to earn it!

We have been to Hamburg so many times and always in the Portuguese Quarter. Always satisfied so far. The Casa Madeira was very disappointing for the four of us. An above-average, unmotivated waiter who didn't want to help with the WiFi question or our questions about the food. We ordered, among other things, the fish/meat platter for 2 people. There was one part of everything on each. This means, for example, a shrimp (how should you divide it?) The same question arose with the piece of lamb on the bone. Waiter just shrugged his shoulders. The fish was fried bone dry, tasteless and bland! In the end we paid €120. Too bad!

The inviting ambience was completely undermined by the quality of the food on offer. Boquerones were fried too cold so they weren't crispy but dripping with fat. The fish platter was borderline bad: salmon tasted musty and not fresh, the other fish had the aftertaste of chlorine. The entrecôte was served without asking how we would like it. So it would be served completely through. All dishes were oversalted and thus a cheap flavor carrier. All in all, the criticism was noted but there were neither questions nor interest in what was wrong. The prices are juicy for the quality offered. Many tourists will certainly not notice it, but connoisseurs of fish and good meat are better off elsewhere.

Were there for lunch. Grilled squid and wolffish fillet with a great shrimp sauce. The restaurant also served alioli with white bread as a starter. Very tasty food, well rounded off both dishes. Attentive service and fair prices. From my point of view, a clear recommendation.

Stopped here spontaneously and got a place for two people. Very nice service and the food was also delicious. The pork fillet was super tender, the only thing missing from the main courses was some vegetables on the plate, for example a side salad.
