Our needs were very well catered for (2 wheelchair users who need a bit more space). The food was plentiful and good.

The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, everything was spotlessly clean and designed with great attention to detail. The atmosphere is cozy and totally relaxing – you immediately feel at ease. Restaurant Patakan is a place to enjoy yourself and unwind. We will definitely be back!

Perfect for a Sunday birthday breakfast

Simply because of its "tropical setting," Patakan is one of Leipzig's most beautiful breakfast spots. No matter how cold it is outside, breakfast at Patakan means breakfast in over 20 degrees Celsius with a view of "tropical nature." The early trip to Gondwanaland is also worthwhile because the food and drinks are delicious, varied, and especially beautifully presented. The staff is (mostly) very friendly, helpful, and service-oriented. It should be obvious to everyone that there are children in a zoo who don't just sit still, but this doesn't detract from the breakfast experience. The fifth star for the food is missing because the selection of cold cuts and cheeses has become somewhat limited recently. (At least, that's our impression.) Nevertheless, breakfast in the charming Patakan ambiance (even down to the smallest detail) is highly recommended, especially since you can immediately embark on an adventurous "digestive stroll" afterward.

You feel pressured to leave a tip at the checkout when paying by card, even though there is no service (self-service).

The food selection and taste are good. With two children, we almost always find something we like. Two large mixed plates (the little one gets a smaller plate) cost about €40. Not cheap, but still acceptable, especially compared to the prices and portion sizes at Kiwara Lodge.

Despite the incredibly sudden and difficult situation, the zoo made the best of it. Respect to the staff!

For me, the zoo is the most beautiful place to have breakfast!

The breakfast and the atmosphere were simply superb. The Asian soup was a real highlight. Some of the staff were incredibly friendly, while others weren't quite so great. But I would definitely come back.

An incredible place for breakfast and lunch. With a view of the jungle, echoed by the birdsong. Important! It is almost impossible to find a seat, so make a reservation in advance. The food is extremely tasty and nutritious. Prices are average for Germany. The food is buffet-style, and the price depends on the size of the plate you use. The price is about 20lv. The variety of food is huge.

Unfortunately, the online reservation didn't work at first. So we had to drive there to make the reservation. Then it worked out really well. The service was super friendly and always there, even the lady at the cash register was great! However, the Chinese corner was really not good. The soup was wrong and unfortunately tasteless... because he had no interest in the customer, and my husband also got the wrong food. No interest in the customer. What a pity... the soup was always a highlight for me, but unfortunately, it's not anymore.

We enjoyed a truly delicious breakfast in beautiful surroundings. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We'd love to come back.

Unfortunately, I can't recommend the weekend brunch. It's quite overpriced for the food selection. Muesli and yogurt weren't refilled. There were no other sweet dishes available, except for semolina pudding, which the numerous young children especially love. The staff was attentive. The atmosphere was, of course, excellent. Having eaten there during the day, I know that the food and drinks are always quite expensive. Of course, food is always expensive at the zoo. It could still be a bit more appealing, even for people who aren't having breakfast there with groups of children. The food on offer definitely doesn't match what's shown on the breakfast reservation page.

Since the Kiwara Lodge was fully booked, we made reservations there. If you have the choice between the two restaurants, we would recommend the Kiwara Lodge. With children, be careful with their shoes. Our son, who is almost 4 years old, is already 1.08m tall. Since he was wearing shoes with flashing lights and slightly higher soles, he was around 1.11m tall and had to pay the child rate.

Unfortunately, the rolls weren't baked properly. They were far too pale.

We really enjoyed the Patakan restaurant. We were registered as a group of 17 people, and we had good seating, enjoyed a delicious meal, and were able to relax after an interesting tour before continuing to explore the zoo.

A very appealing self-service Asian restaurant. All the food is very fresh, and they also offer delicious freshly squeezed juices. There's everything from salads to many vegetable dishes, as well as cakes and desserts. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the prices are reasonable. You pay by the plate size. And everything feels like you're in the middle of the Asian jungle.

A super nice atmosphere for breakfast, especially not too crowded. We were greeted at the entrance by a very friendly server who welcomed us and seated us at a well-located table (center of the room, but also private) according to our reservation. He explained the breakfast buffet to us and was happy to help us (as were his colleagues) when we asked. The buffet selection was extensive and truly delicious. The price was a bit higher (€21.90 per person).

The restaurant was really nice, the staff very friendly. Unfortunately, the food was nothing special. It was relatively expensive and tasted nothing special. It's a shame, but that was our last visit.

Thirty minutes after breakfast began (which lasted 2 hours), the bread was already gone, and there were only white rolls left. At the price you pay, such basics shouldn't be sold out so quickly, in my opinion. Was the breakfast selection better/larger in the past, or was it because we were there on a Saturday? All in all, though, except for the aforementioned "bread issue," it was fine.

Unfortunately, the food is really not good. The kids only liked the potatoes. The rest was awful. The atmosphere is nice, though.

The restaurant at Gondwana Land offers an interesting concept: everything is self-service, including drinks. While this is convenient, it somewhat diminishes the experience for guests who prefer traditional service. The buffet was okay, but unfortunately nothing particularly outstanding. The selection seemed solid, but rather average – you'll be filling, but culinary highlights are rare. Asian Soups: A real plus: The freshly prepared Asian soups are truly outstanding. They taste great and are prepared with much more care than the rest of the menu. The value for money is good. Considering the range of dishes offered and the ambiance, the price is acceptable, especially for visitors who want to combine the Gondwana Land experience with a restaurant visit.

The ambiance is very pleasant, and so is the food selection. One minor drawback: the bar staff seemed overwhelmed, causing longer waits, which, given the tight schedule, can be depressing. It makes you uneasy. But it will certainly improve. The beer will flow more freely, the organization will be better, and maybe even one or two more people will be available.

The breakfast buffet is plentiful, with a good mix of classic breakfast dishes and Asian options. The coffee is also very good, and the freshly squeezed juices are truly fresh.

Breakfast buffet: We had reserved for 5 and were given a table for 4. When we pointed this out, we were given another table, which was so small that it barely fit 3 people, and we had to ask for another chair. Coffee in a glass... it was so hot that I couldn't drink it because I couldn't touch the glass. Cup??? 109 euros for 3 adults and 2 children is pretty steep, considering that they don't even include juice or other drinks. But the rolls are nice and pale, and the croissants are almost raw 👎 Hot dishes weren't refilled... All in all, never again.

We attended an event at the restaurant. We reserved a table in advance, which worked out well. We ate at the prepared buffet. Unfortunately, there are only two options: either a small or a large plate. We each took a plate for €19.00. The prepared food was served in bowls and dishes. Unfortunately, most of the dishes were only lukewarm and not particularly tasty. We cannot recommend the restaurant.

Five of us visited the restaurant. It was our first visit. We needed a bit of orientation, as there are different food stations. A friendly employee showed us to our table. The restaurant was well-air-conditioned and had a pleasant ambiance. The furniture seemed a bit mismatched. Chairs were of different widths. There was a power outlet recessed into the floor, which I find a bit dangerous. She also restricted the space to ensure a good position for the chair at the table. We booked the breakfast buffet. The following situation was somewhat confusing, and I would recommend better signage: We were shown to our table, but not explained how it worked. In other words, where we had to indicate whether we wanted to eat the buffet or pay for each item individually. A server at the cash register seemed a bit snippy when she asked us this question. That's a shame. You can't assume that all guests are familiar with the concept. A brief explanation from the server, who also leads us to our tables, would be very helpful, in my opinion. A wristband will be issued for the breakfast buffet.

The food was rather lackluster, self-service. The food tasted like it had been reheated several times or had been sitting on the plates for ages. The taste wasn't great, the potato wedges were old, and the meat was tough. The atmosphere was good.

A highly motivated service team is there: Every guest is a gift... that's how we felt welcomed there for the brunch we had booked. For brunch itself, we would have been better off staying at the home kitchen. The coffee tasted of burnt beans, like ash. The food selection is sparse, mostly vegetarian or vegan (but even then, quite poor), and very frugal overall. Nothing there actually justifies the asking price. It's astonishing that the staff exude such enthusiasm, but overwhelming that they do! Nevertheless, since all the locations are run by the same owner, we will be bringing packed lunches in the future.

Very cozy breakfast and a beautiful ambience

The food is good, but you have to be careful that employees don't secretly take photos of you and forward the pictures. I don't think they've ever heard of data protection here, considering the frequent violations of GDPR. Just like taking photos of the cash register and sending them around.

A lovely restaurant in the tropical hall of Leipzig Zoo. A good selection in an air-conditioned room (although it was almost a bit too warm for us on the day we visited, but that's just our personal experience...). We had breakfast there and were very pleased with the selection.

We had breakfast at Pakatan for the first time, as the Kiwara Lodge was fully booked. However, we found it very cozy and were very happy with everything. We come every year for our son's birthday. We just hope the prices don't skyrocket any further.

Basically, everything was great, except for the long wait times for hot drinks. Unfortunately, one machine is far too few!

It is a very nice restaurant with a very good view of the animals that roam the area. The food was also very tasty and there was a good selection and there was something for everyone. The employees were friendly and could help you with your questions.

Greasy and oily food, cheap offen buns, big ass lines and when you come to late you have to wait outside, atmosphere is ass inside it's like every buffet with 30 screaming kids the only cool thing are the animals outside, almost no service only service is getting your place after waiting for half an hour with only 6 people infront of you, dirty knifes and mugs and overall not that good

It's a disgrace to be forced to pay an entrance fee to the zoo when you just want to have breakfast. Especially if it takes 30 minutes due to long queues and long journeys. the buffet time is over.

As always, there was great food and delicious drinks. Only the range of bread rolls has decreased somewhat.

Breakfast again in Gondwanaland in the Leipzig Zoo. The grandson also liked it. Always an extensive selection and very tasty. The service was great, we were shown to the table we ordered. Wonderful view of the tropical hall during a pleasant stay. I can only recommend it.

It was a disaster!! We were neither greeted nor was our child congratulated! Nobody felt responsible for us. We had to ask everything and the employees seemed unnerved! Last year we were in the Kiwara Lodge and it was much better. Never there again! The promised cuddly toy then had to be looked for first and was completely different than usual. Worst thing I ever have to give a star.

We ordered a matcha latte and a tea. At first I was charged €1 too much for the matcha and it was only corrected after several questions. My matcha turned out to be a glass of milk with woodruff syrup. Unfortunately too overpriced and not good quality.

After I had reserved a table for 4 people and a toddler with a high chair for my wife's birthday, I wanted to accompany her with the additional champagne for €3.90 per person. surprise. I was informed in advance that there would even be soup at the buffet from 10 a.m. Unfortunately, when we showed up, there was no child's chair at the table. There wasn't a suitable one to be found either. Luckily, after a friendly conversation with other guests, we got one. However, the sparkling wine was charged at €7.50 and not €3.90 as described in the reservation and unfortunately there was no soup either. The food was good, but the service was lacking.

A bad very overpriced buffet. A plate costs €13.90, but you can only put side dishes on it, such as rice, vegetables, etc. Fish, meat, vegetarian bratwurst, etc. cost extra. So that's around €25 - €30 per plate. That's way too expensive for a buffet, and apart from the fried potatoes it wasn't tasty either. So it's better to go to the Asian restaurant around the corner where you can get a delicious buffet for around €10. The ambience is very nice and the bar seems to be doing well too. 👍

Very tasty, we like to come back again and again. The only problem is table reservations, we had reserved, we were shown the table and there was definitely a reserved sign there. So we got our food and came back to the table and it was occupied. Only after we said that we could get someone from the staff to clarify this did the other guests get up. I'm there a lot and I often see situations like this: customers simply put signs on other tables or even hide them between flyers. Unpleasant for guests who reserve in advance.

We ate here on Christmas Day. The staff was very friendly and the Christmas decorations were very nice. Unfortunately the food was bland and the selection of vegetables was very small. Otherwise we were very satisfied.

We have rarely experienced such great service. We went to the Patakan restaurant with a larger group with children. The reserved table was lovingly decorated. All the staff were friendly and helpful! Even small special requests were fulfilled. We will all remember this Christmas day fondly! Thank you for that!

The food (breakfast) was okay, but unfortunately a bit bland at times. Unfortunately we had a table right next to the cash registers, which disturbed the ambience a bit. Service was good. The staff was very nice and helpful. The smoothies/juices were very tasty.

I had a birthday party here for my 5yo.There have been 10 kids and just as many grown ups. Online reservation worked great. As I knew the place before, I was aware about the self service concept. Because I wanted to invite all my guests, they offered wristbands. That worked great, too. I payed an Euro extra per person for decoration. It was ok but not in the range of an extra Euro. If the cuddling toy, they placed at my son's spot, even counts, the deal was OK. (silent hint: only offer cuddling toy decoration fee) If they give it for free, u should not pay the decoration but be there like 5m before to do on ur own. The Asian food is really great. I even appreciate the fresh salads. I don't get close to so called Indian curry. Saying that it is ok for the meatballs to be kept hot for hours, grilled fish is out, too. Just do not. I tried ice creme and some coffee specials next to cake. It was all fine. So, by category, it was ok. By being been there, it is a match.

Basically a nice place for brunch, especially because of the adjacent zoo area. The food was tasty and the selection was good, although not huge. Service is an issue here. Everything seemed very stressed, which also hurt the ambience. The buffet was often empty and you had to wait. The hot drinks all had to be ordered at a counter. A coffee machine, like in the Kiwaralodge, does not exist here. That led to a long queue. The buffet structure was also a bit confusing and people were constantly running back and forth. The fact that some cutlery was missing to open and you had to get some yourself from the cutlery cupboard made it even less relaxing. Overall, brunch at the zoo is more recommended at the Kiwaralodge. Everything is better organized there and less stressful.

We like to eat in Patakan, it's very nice there

It was really nice to eat at Patakan. Simply a great location and really a great way to make full use of the day ticket at the zoo. The price is totally justified for the full buffet, so you can eat all day long. The only small deduction would be that the offer for vegans was rather limited, but that is super easy to update.

The ambience is very good. The reserved table was not free but another one was. The food was only very sparsely replenished at the buffet, which was a shame. There was no more butter, no more smoked fish after 10:00, there was hardly any yogurt left and no more bread. That was really a shame.

Selection was fresh. But we were missing a selection of fruit and jams for a breakfast buffet. Exotic fruit was advertised and there wasn't much fruit in general. There were exotic salads and meat/fish. Soup etc. wasn't available at 9 a.m. but only for the last hour. There is no sign as to whether you can get any egg dishes.

Super delicious brunch - it's even gotten better in the last six months; yesterday was really, really good and very friendly staff. Ambiance is no question: great! But breakfast really improved. You are welcome to have two drinks included in the price (cocoa, sparkling water, etc.)

We booked breakfast with a view of the tropical house. For us it was initially confusing as to what was included in the price and what had to be paid extra. But after asking more often, we were a little wiser. It was very nice for the kids, as birds flew in every now and then and were easy to observe. The food selection is very good, there should be something for everyone. We recommend taking the elevator to the second floor. There you have a good view of the tropical house. For us it was a good start to our visit to the zoo.

The Patakan restaurant is somewhat hidden in Gondwanaland. An insider tip for breakfast eaters on weekends as it tends to be quieter. A large selection of sausages and cheese as well as fresh salmon is just as impressive as the delicious soups from 10 a.m. - all of which are included in the price. As well as a hot drink and a fresh juice. From midday onwards, delicious Asian delicacies - dim sum is highly recommended. A delicious punch, a glass of rosé or tiger beer rounds off the dining experience. From children's birthday parties to corporate events, everything can be booked at Patakan. Employees are always friendly and hardworking when preparing food. The ambience is unbeatable, you feel like you are on vacation in Asia.

The Asian food is delicious, the ambience is right. Due to the very high outside temperatures, the stay was relaxing. We were in the restaurant with a stroller - no problem at all! The next visit to the zoo is already coming up and there will be another visit to the restaurant.

Pricing based on plate sizes requires maximum concentration and creates stress - the selection of alcoholic drinks at the bar is clear and overpriced. We had to eat here because the cabaret was next door...

We had dinner at the Patakan restaurant in the evening as part of a series of events. When making the online reservation I had the opportunity to leave a welcome champagne and a decorated table. There was no trace of the champagne. The table setting consisted of a ceramic waving cat and a €1 Hawaiian necklace from Tedi. Of course, that wasn't what I had imagined for a birthday. It took a total of 3 employees to whom I presented my concern about the missing champagne until a fourth service employee finally took care of our matter, apologized and brought the champagne, at least 'on the house'. The entire team seemed completely unstructured to me. Nobody had any idea about anything. The food was beautifully presented, but we were bitterly disappointed in terms of taste for such high prices. We paid over €80 for two drinks each, without dessert. The price-performance ratio is not right here at all, as this visit to the restaurant was more like going to a canteen. We cannot currently recommend the Patakan restaurant. What a shame!

The explanation of the selection is good, the explanation of the prices is poor, at least for small people. In addition, you should not be under time pressure, for example before an evening event. The visit of a giant cockroach to the table also took some getting used to. The food made up for a lot, it was really tasty.

We had reserved a table with decorations. For 6 people. After we had already made a reservation in October and it worked out well, they obviously forgot about us this time. Too bad. We were then quickly assigned a free table. Not as ordered and without a child's chair. Can happen. The food is good, but also very expensive.

I like being in this restaurant. There are pleasant temperatures after the tropical climate on the treetop path and good food. I like the dim sum with spicy salad and the really good chilled drinks. The outdoor area of ​​the restaurant also invites you to linger and relax.
