Nice place, service and food. Definitely a return visit on the next trip to Hamburg. Will attack!

A wonderful evening at Nil with great food and wine. And also great service form the staff. Will return next time we visit Hamburg.

It doesn't get any better. Have had the 5 course menu 3 times so far, every time a dream. Very good food, very good service. Anyone who wants to experience affordable (almost) star-rated cuisine has come to the right place. For me, Hamburg is only perfect with a visit to the Nile. Many thanks to the team!

A place to feel good. The food is of a high level of craftsmanship and the price for the 5-course menu is unbeatable. The staff is perfectly coordinated and always courteous. It was our first time here and “Nil” could become our new favorite restaurant in the city. We'll be back!

We were in the Nile for a feast. The food was great. Our service Ilka was particularly great. Fast, quick-witted and knowledgeable. She managed to look after each participant in our 10-member men's troupe individually. A small drawback: the greeting from the kitchen or some bread was missing. But that is complaining at a high level and can happen. Thank you very much

This evening's autumn menu was more of a roller coaster ride in terms of food (clearly subjectively viewed) while the starter and main course were certainly able to shine, the intermediate course (more sophistication - see photo) and dessert (peka nut cake with vanilla ice cream? Unfortunately there was a slight salt note in the ice cream that was desired not available and the shortcrust pastry in the cake was shabby) so unfortunately disappointing. I would like to pay special attention to the service, as it deserved more than 5 stars last time 10 months ago, which was also the reason for our visit today. There wasn't enough attention given to us as guests today. What was blatant was that we had just received our aperitif when the bottle of wine came with the menu and then the first course?!?! We didn't even have the opportunity to arrive or enjoy the wonderful bread with butter and sea salt, but rather we were overrun with what we ordered. As if it was all about selling and getting through the menu quickly. Here you should talk to the guest and coordinate with him the retrieval of the menu items for each course. I am well aware that this is difficult to coordinate with kitchen processes, but it was and should be possible. This continued through the entire menu, which ended in me finding a half-melted ice cream ball (the photo shows the picture of my partner's plate) and almost cold cake in front of me after a trip to the toilet after the main course, although I saw the waiter when I went downstairs After I got up, I immediately asked for dessert from my marine partner. This should be sharpened and trained (active communication). Likewise, the plate for the starter was fully explained. For all other dishes, for example, our rack of lamb was mentioned...context and presentation create a feel-good atmosphere. Please follow up here too. I give 3 points because the kitchen was and is reasonably good and the bar processes worked well. But the Nil should work hard on the service, which is not everything, but everything is nothing without the service that gives the customer the feeling that their needs are individually perceived and valued and that they are guided through the evening. You can do better than that, I've already experienced it differently with you! Update 04/23/22 All good things come in threes. The third visit to the Nile showed you can do it! We were back on the first floor, had the menu, but asked the attentive waiter to put together a wine pairing to get the point across, very well selected 1 course Sanceree Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire 2 gear Chardonnay from Burgundy without wood 3 gear No wine, just delicious asparagus soup 4 gear Rioja 💯 tempranillio 50% concrete egg/50% barrique 5 gear Beerenauslese Sauvignon Blanc from the Palatinate All courses tasted great and were well balanced, you couldn't ask for more! Great evening, good service, so great that you look forward to visiting the Nile again😊 Upgrade from 3 to 4👍 Update 06/23/24 Friendly reception, with the information that there is football at 9 p.m. We were given the cards with instructions about the apperitivos. We decided against it, preferring good wine and the June menu. What was noticeable compared to previous visits was that there was unfortunately no wine to accompany the menu, which was always very nice, firstly because you could tell that a service staff was thinking about the kitchen (yes, there are two wine recommendations for the menu, but they are only 0, 1 or 0.25) and secondly, matching a course with the wine has even more class and also more of a local trip! We chose the Auxerois which went well except for the dessert. The service was always relaxed and relaxed. The kitchen did a great job for us, all the dishes were delicious. When it comes to service, I think they were easily confident, I just missed the lack of wine accompaniment. Oh yes, we left on time for the game and everything was fine for my partner. Happy ending😉

It's really nice in the Nile. The service is super friendly. The tables were beautifully set with purchased silver. Only the food can't keep up. Everything tastes less good than you would expect. Still a reasonable price-performance ratio for the menu.

Creative cuisine at a high level with impressively attentive and friendly service. Hardly more can be done in one evening. My recommendation is clearly the 5-course menu. Any intolerances will be dealt with competently.

We have been going to the Nile regularly for a long time and are thrilled every time. We have now celebrated our wedding with 30 people in Nile N°6 and are more than grateful for the truly wonderful and unforgettable evening for us. From the communication in advance to the service in the evening, we found the entire team to be super friendly and extremely attentive. All of our guests were enthusiastic about the Nile and we all really enjoyed it, all the courses were creative, well thought out and very tasty, the plates were always empty. We were particularly happy with the super attentive service that evening. All in all, we are more than satisfied with the Nile and would always recommend it without reservation! A big thank you to the whole team again for everything!

Wir waren am 16.09. dort relativ spontan essen, weil unser Hotelrestaurant Ruhetag hatte, was wir zu spät bemerkt haben. Es gab im Nil außergewöhnliches Essen, das sehr,sehr lecker war, dazu einen sehr aufmerksamen Ober und das Ambiente ist wundervoll . Klare Empfehlung. Wir kommen wieder.

Hamburg is always worth a trip Spontaneously and very easily booked a table for the first evening in the Nile... just looked at which restaurants were in the area and found the Nile Arriving in front of the restaurant, expectations were raised straight away with the Michelin star at the entrance!! The welcome was warm, the service adapted to the guest, exactly what I expect... kudos to the gentlemen in service on the first floor, very attentive and with a certain charm There is a very inexpensive 5 course menu during the week, I call it the highlights of the menu after looking at other tables... definitely a good alternative to try out We consciously chose a la carte and were not disappointed! Every bite is a pleasure. Down-to-earth yes, exquisite in any case. Big compliments to the kitchen!

We were very impressed with the quality and creativity of the food here. Every course was perfectly coordinated and everything tasted incredibly fresh. We found the price-performance ratio really unbeatable. A little greeting from the kitchen, even some bread with butter, would have been nice. Something had also gone wrong with our reservation in the system and we had the feeling that we had been given the “reserve table” at the passage. But that wasn't a bad thing, the nice service and the great food more than compensated for it.

The tasting menu is highly recommended. You can also sit outside and there is also one or two delicious wines.

For me the food was a bit Borring, had came there with high expensive after having gotten a great recommendation. But after visiting i just felt like i have gotten 4 classic dishes i already knew just dressed for the occasion and one great desert. Wouldn't recommend this place since when dining at a place like this i would expect to be surprised and challenge in both vision and most importantly taste. Which i did not here. Besides that the staff was great and the setting and decorations where beautiful unfortunately I don't think that it makes up the lack of innovation in taste.

Wir waren dort bereits zweimal und konnten zwei verschiedene ‚monatliche‘ Menus versuchen und es war jedes Mal ein Genuss mit einem, wie ich finde, sensationellen Preis-Leistung-Verhältnis für Hamburger Verhältnisse. Eine klare Empfehlung und wir kommen gerne wieder! Der Service war sehr nett und zuvorkommend!

Sehr aufmerksames Personal begrüßt sie. Bei den Speisen wählten wir das August-Menü (ändert sich monatlich). Der Preis mit 50,- Euro war sehr günstig. Bei den Weinen hatte man eine große Auswahl.

Unfortunately one waiter was really rude and she killed the mood of us and it was my birthday. The menu was poor there was nothing much to select. Never again.

Pedimos el menú de 50 €. La comida no estuvo mal pero el servicio fue lentísimo, entramos a las 8 pm y salimos a las 22,30 tras los postres, sin tomar cafés. Qizás el problema estuviera en la cocina porque había muchos camareros. Los precios de las bebidas exagerados: 42€ la botella de uno de los dos vinos blancos recomendados que aparecían en la carta, que resultó bastante normalito, y 7€ una botella de agua de tan solo medio litro ¡una pasada! En resumen, una experiencia muy poco satisfactoria.

After a long time we were in the Nile again. Absolutely the right decision. Although the menus used to be a bit more “sophisticated”, we had a wonderful evening with a really tasty menu. Great restaurant with outstanding service. Good selection of dishes and extensive wine list. A bit expensive, but that is absolutely justified by the goods used and the fine taste. We had the 5 course menu, which is definitely recommended. All dishes are lovingly prepared and taste very good. Definitely worth a visit. We are already looking forward to our next visit. Another visit also met all expectations. Unfortunately it is sometimes a bit loud.

Were in the “basement”. The other areas looked nicer. Food and service top! You first have to understand the map with the prices for the menus on different days :-)

An institution on St. Pauli - a place with a relaxed, feel-good atmosphere! “Up” is of course correct, until 1833 St. Pauli was officially called Hamburger Berg, so people went to Hamburger Berg. Smartass mode off! What a great shop. There used to be a shoe shop here during the economic miracle of the 1950s. The ambience is pleasing across the board. The zeitgeist of bygone days has been largely preserved here - the entrance door with the typical slanted bar handle, the beautiful mosaic floor and the curved wooden staircase as examples. People who have an eye for such things should definitely stop by here. Regular guests will surely appreciate it. There are 3 levels. We sat on the upper floor on the gallery by the rounded railing with a view of the equally beautiful ground floor. Wine coolers were even made for the railing to save space. We had an excellent menu (changing monthly) - at a discounted price of €50 - in 5 courses. On Fridays, Saturdays or public holidays it costs €60. The kitchen was convincing across the board. In April there was a goat's cheese thaler with a wild garlic crust, chicory and oven-baked grapes, sorrel soup, fregola sarda in a tasty sauce, butter-tender veal boiled beef with a lovely jus and a fantastic dessert. I'm not much of a sweet tooth, but this crispy rhubarb strudel with sensational sorrel ice cream impressed even me. This is very good kitchen craftsmanship. Bread is not on the menu. But we didn't check until later and then didn't order anymore. We also got our fill so well. Ideal portion sizes. 1A service - we were accompanied through the evening by a very warm, middle-aged lady who was very charming and experienced. The well-kept table culture is also worth mentioning. We were definitely not here for the last time.

I was there with friends. We got a nice spot outside. The 5 course menu was delicious. Very nicely prepared. The meat was tender. The range of aperitifs or drinks could be improved. But otherwise it was very nice there.

We went to Nile on Saturday evening to celebrate my friend's birthday. The team was very nice and even decorated the table a bit at my request, which was really sweet. The meal was delicious. We had June's menu and it was fantastic. The service was very friendly and very knowledgeable about the dishes. The whole process was great. I can only recommend this restaurant!

Selten eine derart professionelle, freundliche und um den Gast bemühte Servicecrew erlebt. Gleiches gilt für die Küche. Hervorragend abgeschmeckte und ansprechend präsentierte Teller. Gut und mutig gewürzt. Fleisch, Fisch und Beilagen handwerklich perfekt gegart. Selten so ein hervorragendes Dessert gegessen. Intelligente und interessant zusammengestellte Weinkarte und für Hamburger Verhältnisse megagünstig kalkulierte Weine. Ein 5 - Gang Menü in dieser Qualität für 50 - 60 € ?!?!?!? Ja wo gibt‘s denn sowas ??? Mitten in HH ! Seit nunmehr 35 Jahren eine Institution. Gratulation! Wir waren jetzt zum ersten mal da und wir haben eine Küchen- und Serviceleistung erlebt die in dieser Kombination und zu diesem Preis ihresgleichen sucht. Weiter so. Wenn wir das nächste Mal in HH sind schlagen wir definitiv wieder bei euch auf !!

Das Essen (Maimenu) war hervorragend. Ein Lob an die Küche! Vor allem die Maultaschen waren ein Genuss. Der Service war ebenfalls nicht zu toppen, sehr aufmerksam und die Zeiten zwischen den einzelnen Gängen war perfekt. Unbedingt kommen wir wieder.

We had the menu from May. Service, courteous, nice and friendly. The food doesn't get full marks. For me personally, too much salt was used there and it's close to the limit.

Yesterday there were five of us in the Nile and ate the menu. Everything was very tasty and nicely presented. The quantity was sufficient for us, but for good eaters it might have been a bit economical. The atmosphere is very special. Tables set in a very stylish, classic way with white fabric tablecloths and white fabric napkins. The restaurant extends over 3 floors, but through the gallery, with a huge chandelier with real candles hung in front of it, and a very wide entrance to the lower guest room, very open and spacious. We were served by several waiters and ALL of them!!! were very, very nice, friendly and attentive. I would have liked to give 10 points for that too. We felt welcome and in good hands. Thanks!

Another fabulous dinner at Nil. We sat in the garden and enjoyed the 5 course menu, every single course was delicious, creative and tasty. We come here since 30 years and it never disappoints. We love the service and we love that the noise level is low, so you can actually enjoy a conversation. To me Nil is my favorite restaurant in Hamburg because it always feels like a special experience and not just like going out for dinner. Highly recommended and great value. We will be back.

The food does not fall into the next-tier price category for which they are charging you. It is quite overpriced for what they offer. Wine was nice and elegant.

Eines meiner Lieblingsrestaurants, leider standen die Tische sehr eng. Da wurde wohl seit meinem letzten Besuch kräftig aufgerüstet. Wir konnten uns erst dann ungestört unterhalten, als die Herrschaften der beiden Nachbartische gegangen waren. Wer Geschäftliches besprechen möchte (und das wollten wir eigentlich auch), ist hier falsch: Wir wissen jetzt leider ungewollt ziemlich viele Firmeninternas ;-) Essen und Service wie immer hervorragend. Preis-/Leistung ok. (Das war allerdings noch vor der Mehrwertsteuererhöhung.)

Es war wieder ganz toller Abend! Dem Nil gebührt dieses Jahr eine besondere Ehre und zwar am 22. April wurde wieder Hamburgs wichtigster Gastropreis verliehen. Das Nil erhielt den Genuss-Michel für das Restaurant des Jahres 2024. Und ich sage zu recht verdient und das Restaurant von Elisabeth und Steffen gibt es nicht umsonst seit 30 Jahren. Bitte weiter so!!!
