Chingu in Hamburg

Min mand og jeg besøgte denne restaurant i går under en weekendtur til Hamborg – og det var en rigtig dejlig oplevelse. Vi blev taget godt imod og følte os velkomne fra start. Maden var virkelig lækker og smagene sad lige i skabet. Der var tydelig fokus på kvalitet og gode råvarer, og både vi og vores smagsløg gik tilfredse derfra. Betjeningen var også i top. Tjeneren var opmærksom og smilende uden at være for meget, og det gav bare et ekstra løft til oplevelsen. Alt i alt et sted, vi gerne anbefaler til andre, der leder efter et godt måltid og en behagelig atmosfære i Hamborg. Vi kunne godt finde på at kigge forbi igen en anden gang.

Spicy chicken will be better when it is more spicy. Garlic soy chicken is really delicious. Japchae will be better if using more seasoning. Home made drink (something with ginger and mint) taste really good and refreshing. Will definitely come back for the home made drinks.

I think I had high expectations! The food tasted like fast food (and it arrived really quickly). The restaurant is very simple. Very different from the advertising. I wouldn't go back.

Everything used to be better, or was it a case for the consumer advice center? It's getting more and more expensive and the chicken bites are getting smaller and smaller, plus you pay €1.50 more for the audacity of wanting to have two different sauces on 12 bites. Too bad!

I visited this Korean restaurant with my friend, and we had a mixed experience. I ordered the beef bibimbap, and she had the shrimp bibimbap. Unfortunately, my bibimbap was quite mediocre—the beef was very tough and not enjoyable. On the other hand, we also ordered Korean fried chicken, which was absolutely delicious! Definitely the highlight of the meal. We also got homemade lemonade. However, we were a bit disappointed because, in places like this, drinks are usually served in nice glasses, but ours came in very basic ones. Later, we noticed that other guests received their drinks in much nicer glasses, which felt a little unfair. The place itself is not very spacious, but the atmosphere is okay. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the food is served quickly. Overall, it was an okay experience—not bad, but not amazing either.

Bites have very thick crust, the chicken burger with kimchi was delicious, next time I'll try wings.

The food war great, felt not 100% authentic but that’s fine. Chili chicken was still quite sweet even though it was not the sweet chicken and it was spicy but delicious. The staff was nice but quite loudly joking around with the other staff which was a little distracting

We were completely thrilled. The service was very friendly and attentive. We made room for our stroller and joked with our customers' children. For food we had boneless chicken bites with spicy sauce, Oi salad, fries and bibimbap with beef. Simply delicious!

We were visiting Hamburg and immediately fell in love with this restaurant. The food was really great, especially the chicken bites and japchae are recommended, you can't go wrong with edamame. If you don't know kimchi you should definitely try it, but it's not for everyone.

The food is simply great, the chicken is juicy and tender and tastes very good just like everything else, the prices are totally reasonable and the service is very friendly and accommodating, every now and then on weekend evenings it gets a bit full which can get a long wait about 10 minutes but it's worth it!

Always ordering their boneless chicken with soy garlic and butter honey sauce. Plus kimchi and radish as a side dish. Always freshly cooked and always satisfied. 😋 😋 😋 But 1st time to try their shrimp tempura and I wasn't satisfied with it. So I'll stick with my chicken 😂

Korean chicken is incredibly tasty thanks to its crispy coating. The fries are probably homemade, very tasty, crispy and a fantastic combination with the kimchi.

The food was super delicious, we had fried chicken bites and they were just finger licking good! Nice and friendly service, place was full with people, that created very nice atmosphere! We are glad that we accidentaly discovered this place and are coming back again when in Hamburg!

Chingu is definitely my go-to place for Korean Fried Chicken to go in Hamburg. I come here again and again because the chicken is simply unbeatably delicious - crispy, juicy and perfectly seasoned. It is without a doubt my favorite place for Korean Fried Chicken in the city. If you love it, you should definitely stop by! PS: Korean Fried Chicken with rice tastes better.

Very tasty, but I can recommend the Chingu in St. Pauli more for the atmosphere. It's relatively crowded here.

I had few expectations and was very positively surprised. The welcome was warm. The fact that the service sings along to the songs on the playlist (and does it really well!) really puts you in a good mood. The room is very nicely decorated and doesn't seem overloaded. The tables will be cleaned immediately after leaving for the next guests. The food came quickly, even though the store was full. Plus it was just really INCREDIBLY delicious!

NEVER AGAIN!! Some of my bites weren't done, I had stomach cramps and total nausea immediately after the first bite, which lasted for a long time.

Unfortunately we had to wait a long time to be served. In terms of taste, I have definitely eaten better Korean chicken. We had sweet chili and soy garlic - if you eat there, definitely go for sweet chili!

Visually it's a small, typical snack bar but the food is really the power: The chicken bites are amazing, regardless of the sauce, the fries are also great and the bibimbap is absolutely delicious

We were there twice within 2 days. At lunchtime. As part of a Hamburg vacation. We had Japche with beef. And a kimchi beef burger 🍔 And very nice Crispy Poultry Mandu. Was great. Amount of taste was optimal. Both times the same quality and portion size. Prices are clear for Hamburg city center. Great team. Friendly, good advice. My recommendation is to try Malt Bae which is a pear juice drink with pieces of fruit. If we are in Hamburg again we will go there again.

We were there with a larger group for dinner and karaoke. It was absolutely great, but we ordered way too much. A little information from the staff would have been nice, for example that kimchi was included, then we wouldn't have had to order it twice ;) Otherwise everything was great!

Had a great experience at Chingu. Ordered: 12 pieces of sweet chili bites (9/10) 6 pieces of chili spicy (9/10) Crispy chicken burger (7/10), great taste but really hard to keep it together. Had to resort to knife and fork. Classisc fries (10/10) Just one minor thing could be that the cola did not have any fizz hence just tasted like cold sweet water The service was quick and the staff is friendly

Hello everyone! Wow! I'm just excited!!! My daughter recommended this restaurant to me because she has often eaten there with her friends and she loves the food there. The employees are polite, courteous, and the prices are very good (even for Hamburg city center standards). The food is incredibly tasty! The next time I'm in Hamburg, I'll definitely eat there again. I highly recommend this restaurant!

2024.05.30: we order the chicken bites, 12 of them. Pretty huge amount. The kimchi fries are really good, bit spicy, really good spicy. The drinks are also fine. Service is super nice too, people are especially kind.

If you want to eat AUTHENTIC Korean food, avoid this place. Everyone go to Seoul 1988, Wagu Wagu, Kimchi Guys, Asia Imbiss (Max-Brauer-Allee), San and Bballi Kimbap. Don't waste your time with this kind of crap. Because of Korean hahahaha

Very tasty Korean fried chicken for a very good price. Here you can choose how many pieces you want and whether with or without bones. This dish is super easy to share. You can also order extra side dishes and a super tasty rice portion for little money. I personally find the pickled cucumbers and the pickled radish super tasty and very suitable, as they contrast with the fried hearty chicken with their fresh character. For me this is the perfect combination. Plus some soju (Korean alcoholic drink, good as a shot) if you want. I can also highly recommend the fries here. The perfect crunch! I would recommend this again and again.

The food was delicious, but a bit expensive for the portions you get. The walls are a bit dirty, but with the friendly staff you quickly forget about them.

We were there on a Friday night at around 9:00 and we were asked to sit inside. The staff were friendly and fast. The food was not great though. We ordered one serving of boneless Korean chicken and one bibimbap. The bowl of bibimbap was smaller than what I had in other places and the ratio of rice to vegetables and meat was too high. Not that much of a variety in vegetables either. The Korean chicken tasted good with a hint of lemon grass, but it didn't seem freshly cooked. Prices are also higher than average Korean bistros with many things like sauces, kimchi etc offered as add-ons for a price.

I had a delicious BIBIMBAP - a hot stone pot with various vegetables, rice, a fried egg and your choice of shrimp, beef or chicken, with extra hot pepper paste. On Hein-Hoyer-Str. 3, in St. Pauli is the Korean restaurant CHINGU II.

Phew, difficult. The food was okay, came quickly and I understand that Uber Eats takes 30% of the revenue, but 14.50 for a hand-counted 10 tteokbokki is a disgrace. The dish literally consists of rice cakes, hot sauce and an egg, worth 3 euros if you buy expensively. There's more in an Insta-Ramen cup...

I really liked the restaurant! The employees were nice and the food came quickly! I ate japchae with tofu and thought it was delicious! The menu only said “various vegetables”, so if you don’t like mushrooms, for example, I would ask for more detailed information beforehand. I'd love to come back 🥰

It was my first time here and it was generally my first time eating Korean food. The chicken was simply bomb and is a clear recommendation. The sweet potato fries and sauces were also great. The 3 were a small minus!! Shrimps for €7.50 were just OK. The shop is rather small, but you can still have a good time. The service is very good and fast. I'd love to come back!

The food was very tasty, but on the expensive side. When you order a burger, you really only order the burger, so you have to order sides separately. I would recommend the kimchi pommes, a completely new taste for me, but very tasty.

Attentive, friendly service and even as a single person this time I was able to eat well there. They have vegan burgers with Beyond Meat. Unfortunately, the combination with this type of kimchi as found on the menu is not really tasty. To achieve this, the portion size of the fries needs to be highlighted positively, as does the combination with the sweet chili mayo. The homemade lemonade was also delicious, but unfortunately completely non-carbonated. Price was a bit too high in general, but still within reason.
