Great atmosphere, everything smelled great! The staff is very friendly!

The food is simply terrible. We've been there several times, and for about a year now, the quality of the food and the service have been declining dramatically. Even the view of the canal doesn't help.

Beautiful place directly on the NE canal

Despite having three employees alone serving, we had to wait more than 20 minutes before someone bothered to take our order. That's not what good service looks like.

The young lady who asked us to leave the restaurant at 11:30 a.m. was very rude and made us very uncomfortable with her loud voice. I don't think I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!!!! The food and all the young men (students) were very accommodating.

The outdoor area, with a covered terrace and additional tables in the garden, offers a sensational, elevated view of the Kiel Canal and the passing ships (without the noisy ship greetings like in Rendsburg). The interior is also beautifully decorated. The food is very good, except for one slip-up—but never mind that. The service is excellent, including the sense of humor. 😊

The food, service, and ambiance deserve 5 stars. We're delighted that this historic house, which lay dormant for many years, has become such a wonderful restaurant with a café and beer garden overlooking the Kiel Canal. Thank you!!! 😊

If you prefer mushy salad to fresh melon, this is the place for you. Very disappointing. I remembered the quality being much better. Despite a friendly comment, there was no response from the service.

A very pleasant atmosphere with delicious food. There are lovely outdoor seating areas, in the conservatory, and inside. The price/performance ratio is right. With a view of the canal. Plenty of parking is also nearby. There's a playground. I was very pleased that the very friendly chef came to our table and answered our questions about the food. 👍I would have given it 6 stars.

I've always enjoyed eating at the Margaretental, but unfortunately, the food has deteriorated considerably in recent weeks. The atmosphere among the staff suddenly seems very tense, and one waitress even cried during our last visit. We'd actually like to come back and hope for better food and a nicer atmosphere next time.

I don't often write reviews, but we were very disappointed with the food at this restaurant 😞 The veal schnitzel was tough, the salad was tasteless and old, and the fries were cold. The view of the Kiel Canal was great. The playground was great, too. The food in the restaurant was not so great.

A place of peace and relaxation on the Kiel Canal. It's an ideal starting point for walks along the Kiel Canal. And after your walk, the Margaretental valley invites you to take a coffee break.

The location is, of course, top-notch. The rooms are as well. Everything is very nice, new, and modern. We were there today for breakfast/brunch. Well... the menu is published on the website, but some items were still out of stock, especially standard items like honey. There were three types of jam and Nutella, that's it, no honey. A fruit salad was promised, but nothing. They only served a watermelon. The waffles were charred and inedible, so the buffet didn't match the location, so you shouldn't go there for the food, just for the location itself. The heaters kept going out, and no one took care of them. The service was bored and standing around. A shame. But the fried eggs were very tasty. Otherwise, the rolls were uncooked, which is a real shame... Unfortunately, the plates weren't clean; almost all of them had some kind of stain.

Unfortunately, we were sent out of the restaurant. We arrived at 11:30 a.m. and wanted to eat. The server asked us to leave. They told us breakfast had just ended and they needed to clear up. We weren't allowed to sit down. Since it was raining outside, we left. It's a shame, actually, we were actually trying to check it out for a family celebration. We drove the extra 20 km. It would be good to announce this on the website if it's not open all day.

Unfortunately no longer recommended due to a change in management. We were there for breakfast on July 26, 2025. Nothing exceptional. Fried eggs were placed on a plate with NO spit guard/cover and some of them were cold. The previous owner had just fried them and asked what kind of egg dish we wanted. The orange juice was watered down with ice cubes, the butter was missing the first time around, some of the cheese was dry, and all without covers! The small sausages were fried but unfortunately already cold, and no further meat was brought. Breakfast was from 9:30 to 11:30! At 11:10 we were given quite abrasive comments by the waitress with the black braid that we had to be out in 20 minutes at the latest. During the entire time, no one asked if we wanted any other drinks. The tables outside were very poorly maintained, not even a roof for smokers. There is still a lot of improvement/further training to be done here! NOT AGAIN for us. It's a shame, but a good location doesn't necessarily make a good restaurant!

The location right on the canal is fantastic—you can watch the boats pass by while you eat. The food and drinks are of a good country inn standard. Always worth a visit!

Hey, I ate here with a friend and I have to say that we can't really recommend this restaurant. We both ordered a salad (goat cheese and chicken breast), which we often eat there, and apparently the recipe had been changed... this time we were unfortunately really disappointed and generally didn't have a good feeling about the visit. The portions were very small and tasted completely different than usual, and the salad contained ingredients that didn't go at all with the dish we were used to. The cakes are also unfortunately not what they used to be... it feels like they've switched from homemade cakes to ready-made cakes. But the service was great, as always.

Update: I was there again for a class reunion. I have to say the service was very good and attentive this time. Even the more than 35 meals arrived at almost the same time. This is all the more remarkable given that everyone ordered from the menu, so the kitchen couldn't react until we arrived. Hence the update to 4 stars. The location is great, that's the best part. The service is attentive, but there's room for improvement. But the 20 guests, without exception, found the cakes and waffles only mediocre to poor. We certainly could have had more to drink, but we couldn't stay any longer because the table was about to be booked again. For my part, this was definitely my last time here.

The food (pannfish) was unfortunately a bit too little for the price. Instead of the three kinds of fish described on the menu, there were only two types. The fried potatoes, although good, were also a bit meager. The side salad with the roast beef was a bit lacking in taste; the broccoli was so big and hard that you couldn't eat it. We were very disappointed with the dessert (Pavlova). The chef should take another look at the recipe. It was just a scoop of vanilla ice cream on meringue with strawberries that weren't really that fresh anymore. It had nothing to do with Pavlova, and the price of €9.50 was far too high. But the staff were very nice and attentive.

A very nice restaurant with a view of the Kiel Canal! A variety of ships, from very large to small, pass by regularly! There's also a nice playground with opportunities for climbing and playing. The food is delicious, but the prices are a bit high!

Good food, unfortunately a bit expensive. Poor service, but a nice location on the canal. There's a playground for children behind the house, so it's otherwise not child-friendly.

Lunch, herring, simply delicious. Fried potatoes cooked to perfection. Not too greasy, crispy without being burnt. The house lime and mint lemonade was top-notch. The salad was fresh, the espresso was quick, hot, and aromatic. I'll be back. Soon on the terrace overlooking the canal.👍👍

We were here for breakfast today. We were seated in the larger dining room, which was very nice and had very comfortable chairs. The extensive buffet left nothing to be desired and was of high quality. The service was very attentive, and food was constantly being refilled. Definitely worth a visit!!!

We visited the aforementioned location for a funeral coffee. The restaurant has a beautiful location overlooking the canal. The rooms are large, modern, and offer the option of separating individual compartments, allowing the ceremony to take place separately from the rest of the restaurant. The preliminary discussion was consistently pleasant, and we felt well looked after. We were able to choose between several options. We opted for the "3rd Best" option at €23 per person. This included coffee, hot chocolate, tea, cake, and sandwiches. Unfortunately, we were bitterly disappointed on the day of the funeral. We weren't properly welcomed, and the service left much to be desired. The coffee pots landed quickly on the table—but everything else took a while to arrive. The sandwiches and slices of cake were tightly limited to the number of people (one sandwich and one really tiny piece of cake per person). When we politely asked if the restaurant could please refill some, the initial response was, "You'll have to discuss that with someone else." When no one responded to our requests and we asked again, as we felt uncomfortable in front of the guests, they simply said that we could have a refill if we charged an additional €23 per imaginary person. Such a small service for such a high price is completely disproportionate, and we were sold differently. In addition, we weren't even asked once about the agreed-upon a la carte drinks. Only after asking twice did a waiter come to attend to us. Even the previously agreed-upon "church schnapps" was only served after repeated requests. One felt like one would be a burden to the staff if one demanded the desired and, above all, agreed-upon service. From my own service experience, I can say that a funeral coffee is a rewarding, well-prepared, and simple service. We had felt well looked after beforehand. Such an unprofessional approach deprived the mourners of the opportunity to gather together in a relaxed atmosphere. Very disappointing! I and some other guests will not book this restaurant again.

It's really nice here. Northern German cuisine, a nice view of the canal, and then a chat about the tides and fish with our Australian neighbors. And when the sun is shining and your hunger disappears, a delicious dessert is combined with an even more delicious coffee, then that's quite something. And always looking at the ships. Plenty of them come by 😀 We were very pleased with the service. What you do is well received.

Leider durchgefallen. Wir waren mit 3 Personen zum Abendessen da. Als Vorspeise hatten wir dreierlei Bruschetta,die nicht sonderlich hübsch angerichtet waren. Geschmacklich leider absolut nicht rund und auch nicht qualitativ hochwertig. Wirkte wie vorproduziert und etwas lange stehengeblieben. Der Haupteingang war Saibling , das Schnitzel und Sauerfleisch. Das Schnitzel war gerade so ok, die Bratkartoffeln waren sehr fettig, dem Gurkensalat fehlte jeder Geschmack. Das Sauerfleisch war leider ohne jede Säure und Geschmack. Der Fisch war okay allerdings fehlte der Sauce der angepriesene Limetten Geschmack. Fazit schöne Location aber Kulinarisch passte nichts.

We were there with 20 people for the breakfast buffet. Everything was just perfect, from the food (including vegan options) to the ambiance and the friendly, attentive staff. It was an all-around lovely morning. We'll definitely be back.

Our group and I went to Margaretental for coffee today. We had booked until 5 p.m., but at 4:30 p.m. we were told we had to leave, and someone came straight away to clear the table. No one even came and asked if we wanted something else. Then they said there were more people than stated, but we had a list of names with everyone listed, and it was correct. No one in our group will be visiting the restaurant again, neither with their guests nor inviting them to a party there. We were all from Suchsdorf, and word gets around quickly.

We love having a waffle and some ice cream there for the kids. The great climbing frame creates a few free moments for the adults

Very great location, right on the water. We were there to eat cake and then somehow stayed for dinner. The ships passing by were great to see. Good service. Cake and dinner were good.

At the end of the Alte Chaussee in Kiel-Suchsdorf, where the Kiel Canal leisurely passes, lies Margaretental - a place that proves that you can dine in style even without a sailor's license. The terrace not only offers blankets and radiant heaters for fresh air lovers, but also a box seat for passing cargo ships - maritime entertainment included.  Anyone who stops here will not only be served culinary delicacies, but also a portion of North German serenity.

We were here on business with around 9 international guests. Our guests came from Italy, Denmark, Australia, Singapore, Greece and Germany. Unfortunately there were no English-language maps. The initial waitress (very young and barely able to speak English) was a bit overwhelmed by the situation. Otherwise, the service was very quick and requests were asked regularly. The food was also very good. The very regional cuisine was also very well received by our guests. We had a small separate room for our group. This one was very nice. There is also a larger hall, which I obviously didn't find that appealing.

The place is great right on the canal

I can only write from the perspective of a coffee drinker, but if the food is as good as the coffee and the super delicious piece of apple cinnamon cake with whipped cream, then you have to go there. Great view, directly over the Kiel Canal. Very nice staff and a great atmosphere. Highly recommended. Finally, the highlight “for me” is that dogs are welcome here. After the canal tour, a delicious pot of coffee and a piece of cake...🤤🤩

Very tasty food and also nice ambience. We had dinner with a lot of people and it really didn't take long. Unfortunately the portions were a bit too small. There are only a few parking spaces, so you have to walk a bit.

Very nice house, chic atmosphere, great view, but bad service and even worse food.

The location overlooking the canal is worth the trip. What young families with children can expect there, however, is another matter. Snippy and prejudgmental service staff. Briefly and with a biting commentary, you are "kindly" informed that it is not permitted to sit outside near the climbing frame and distort food (of any kind) or drinks. Even the offer to set up a small table there and pick up everything from inside (there was a lack of staff even though there was nothing going on) was not taken up. Instead, you are expected to sit in a plastic sheet pavilion with limited visibility and, trusting in God, let your children play unsupervised or let your spouse do a shift. Never again, only the location and older customers without children and those who are already adults keep this restaurant afloat.

Two families, four small children, exhausted from running, climbing, playing - spending hours outside. The plan: a relaxed meal at the end. Google Maps shows a restaurant on the canal, a playground right next to it - sounds perfect for families. We thought. We enter the restaurant, see the chic interior and think: Okay, a little nicer, but there are a few tables outside, the playground is right next door - we can manage that. So I go in and politely ask if we can just move a table outside a little closer to the playground. What happens then is absurd: the waitress comes so close to me that I briefly consider whether we should sing a duet. She speaks loudly, sharply and visibly annoyed - as if I hadn't asked but provoked. There's no way that's possible. There have already been broken glasses, parents have just sat there, drank, smoked - it's unsafe, they don't have enough staff. I calmly reply that it's not really family-friendly - after all, you have to sit down inside without even remotely seeing the children outside. At that moment I had the feeling that she was about to blow up. Annoyed, I looked for a place somewhere in the annex - a pavilion with a line of sight to the playground. Theoretically. In order to actually get there, you actually had to get out of the pavilion and walk around the outside until you finally reached the child. Closeness is different. The menu? There were waffles for children. Point. No pasta, no fries, nothing savory. A wine list that is as extensive as it is ambitious – 20 pages of liquid luxury, stylishly presented. All well and good. It's just a shame that the waitress apparently didn't know how to talk to people who aren't into wine. And to top it off: a second waitress appears when paying. New person, new luck? Unfortunately not. I ask as normal when the outdoor terrace will open and get – again – a stroppy answer. I ask because she was just charming towards my friend. Her explanation: "I noticed that you said earlier that we are not family friendly. I also have three children." For me, family-friendly means: I can let my children play in the immediate vicinity without having to split into two camps. I can keep an eye on them while eating without starting an orienteering run. And I can find more than a waffle and a scoop of ice cream on the menu - maybe even something that goes beyond the after-work wine with colleagues age group. Unfortunately, none of that was available here. Ambience nice. Everything else? Unfortunately, it was an experience that we will remember for a long time - but not for the reasons that a good restaurant would want

Zwei Familien, vier kleine Kinder, erschöpft vom Rennen, Klettern, Spielen – stundenlang draußen unterwegs. Der Plan: ein entspanntes Essen zum Abschluss. Google Maps zeigt ein Restaurant am Kanal, Spielplatz direkt daneben – klingt perfekt für Familien. Dachten wir. Wir betreten das Lokal, sehen das schicke Interieur und denken: Okay, bisschen feiner, aber draußen stehen ein paar Tische, der Spielplatz ist gleich nebenan – das kriegen wir hin. Ich gehe also rein und frage höflich, ob wir einen Tisch draußen einfach etwas näher zum Spielplatz rücken dürfen. Was dann passiert, ist absurd: Die Kellnerin kommt mir so nah, dass ich kurz überlege, ob wir gleich ein Duett singen. Sie spricht laut, scharf und sichtlich genervt – als hätte ich nicht gefragt, sondern provoziert. Das sei auf gar keinen Fall möglich. Es habe schon kaputte Gläser gegeben, Eltern hätten sich dort einfach hingesetzt, getrunken, geraucht – das sei unsicher, sie hätten zu wenig Personal. Ich entgegne ruhig, dass das so aber nicht wirklich familienfreundlich sei – immerhin müsste man sich drinnen hinsetzen, ohne auch nur annähernd einen Blick auf die Kinder draußen zu haben. In dem Moment hatte ich das Gefühl, sie steht kurz davor, in die Luft zu gehen. Genervt suchte ich mir einen Platz irgendwo im Anbau – ein Pavillon mit Sichtachse zum Spielplatz. Theoretisch. Praktisch musste man, um tatsächlich dort hinzukommen, raus aus dem Pavillon, einmal außenrum durchs Gelände, bis man endlich beim Kind stand. Nähe geht anders. Die Speisekarte? Für Kinder gab es Waffeln. Punkt. Keine Nudeln, keine Pommes, nichts Herzhaftes. Dafür eine Weinkarte, so umfangreich wie ambitioniert – 20 Seiten flüssiger Luxus, stilvoll präsentiert. Schön und gut. Nur schade, dass die Bedienung offenbar nicht wusste, wie man mit Menschen spricht. Und als Krönung: Beim Bezahlen kommt eine zweite Kellnerin . Neue Person, neues Glück? Leider nicht. Ich frage ganz normal, wann die Außenterrasse geöffnet wird, und ernte – erneut – eine patzige Antwort. Ich hake nach, weil sie eben meiner Freundin gegenüber noch ganz charmant war. Ihre Erklärung: „Ich hab mitbekommen, dass Sie vorhin gesagt haben, wir seien nicht familienfreundlich. Ich habe auch zwei Kinder.“ Familienfreundlich bedeutet für mich: Ich kann meine Kinder in unmittelbarer Nähe spielen lassen, ohne mich dafür in zwei Lager aufteilen zu müssen. Ich kann sie beim Essen im Blick behalten, ohne einen Orientierungslauf zu starten. Und ich finde auf der Karte mehr als eine Waffel und eine Kugel Eis – vielleicht sogar etwas, das über die Altersgruppe After-Work-Wein mit Kollegen hinausgeht. All das war hier leider nicht gegeben. Ambiente schön. Alles andere? Leider ein Erlebnis, das uns noch länger in Erinnerung bleiben wird – allerdings nicht aus den Gründen, die sich ein gutes Restaurant wünschen würde.

I was there for Sunday brunch. The rolls were probably only half-baked and unfortunately a bit hard. The vegetables were limited to cucumber and tomato. A little bell pepper or something similar would have been nice. For the muesli, I would have preferred something without sugar, like pure oatmeal or something similar. There wasn't anything really exceptional or outstanding at the buffet. Everything was standard, but okay for the price. It's also a shame that at 11:30 a.m., you're actually rather rudely ushered out, and you can't stay longer because lunch is already expected. This creates a certain amount of time pressure at breakfast.

Super friendly staff, the food is very good at fair prices and the ambience and view is very nice. So highly recommended.

At the end of the street you will find this great restaurant. You have a wonderful view of the Kiel Canal. Even if it's still cool outside you can sit on the terrace, blankets, pillows and heaters are available. So far I've only enjoyed cake and coffee there, but I'll definitely visit the restaurant again for a main meal. The staff was excellent, very attentive and friendly. In the picture is the pear chocolate cake, a latte macchiato and a homemade lemonade in the background.

...super nice, after an appointment in the street, my colleague and I stopped there for a moment, in the best spring weather we were served very friendly and professionally, super nice too!!! Unfortunately, I didn't get to try the very tasty, fragrant food... but that was due to my lack of time... :-) I'll definitely do that again!!! really a very nice place for a break!!!

Unfortunately we were a bit disappointed. We had reserved a "nice table" the day before. When we got to the restaurant it was half empty. We got a table right in the entrance area, between the walkways. Very unpleasant.....The gentleman from the service wasn't really friendly either....I had to ask him to come to the table again to take another order. He seemed bored or annoyed to us. The main course (roast beef and pan fish) was quite okay, unfortunately the fried potatoes were too soft. It was also strange that sometimes whole potatoes were served. Salt was also saved. But the dessert was great. It's a shame anyway, for a 30km journey we would have wished for more...

We've been here twice now for breakfast. Always with a larger group and everyone thought it was really good. What I particularly liked was that everything was replenished in a really timely manner. The crew has a good feeling for what goes away first and is needed again. Apart from that, everyone is really friendly.

We were there in the afternoon after a walk and were lucky to get a table. Friendly welcome and service. Very was very delicious. You can always go back.

Very tasty food made from regional ingredients. Service staff at a top-class level of friendliness. And the ambience and surroundings invite you to linger.

The location is great, the interior is more like a hall. But that's a matter of taste. I found it uncomfortable. The food wasn't good for me personally. I think it had something to do with the holiday menu. The goose was just leftover junk. At least that's how it seemed to me. Klos already had a light skin on it... kept it warm for too long. But okay , certainly not that easy with this run. But given the steep price, you can expect better quality.

Delicious vegetarian Christmas menu and very friendly staff.

Tolles Ambiente, aufmerksames und freundliches Personal. Die Speisen waren qualitativ leider nicht hochwertig. Gans leider zäh und nicht richtig erwärmt. Dazu Maronenpüree mit fragwürdigem Geschmack - ich mag Neues, aber das war mehr unansehnliche und muffelige Pampe - kein Geschmackskontrast/-erlebnis. Die schönen Räumen mit aufmerksamem und freundlichem Personal laden zum Besuch ein, doch die Speisen spiegeln nicht wieder, was man beim Lesen der Karte erwartet. Auch die Nachspeise (Bratapfelparfait) schmeckte nicht ansatzweise nach Bratapfel. Textur des Parfaits allerdings super! Der Kaffee danach war derart säuerlich, dass man leider nicht von Kaffee reden kann. Wirklich schade, aber bei rund 150,-€ für drei Personen war das keine Glanzleistung.

Delicious food with a view of the North Baltic Sea Canal

We had a very nice birthday party with 45 people in the large hall of Margaretental. Our guests were very satisfied right from the start. Nice set-up of the guest tables, very tasty buffet (feedback: “The sour meat was amazing”) and service that fulfilled all of our wishes. We can recommend the restaurant for a celebration. The only downside is that you have to go home at 10 p.m. when it's still so nice.

In advance! We were only there at cake time! Well first of all I have to say that it is really a nice atmosphere. Great restaurant! But that was it. It starts with a telephone conversation. An older gentleman on the phone who makes it clear that children are not necessarily welcome there. Then you only have two hours of reservation time and you shouldn't stay a second longer, otherwise you'll be very late. (With the slow service, no wonder) Then it took them almost 40 minutes to make 5 waffles. And of the 5 ordered, only 4 came. So we had to wait another 20 minutes for the next one. At least they apologized for that. 20 minutes before the end of the reserved time, the man in question walked past the windows in front of the room to see if we were slowly starting to leave. Which I personally consider to be outrageous. Friendliness was definitely missing. The waffle came cold. Just like the other components. The grits were frozen (which isn't a bad thing), but they were so sour that even the ice cream couldn't take away the strong acidity. Unfortunately I can't recommend it. Customer service is simply different.

We stopped by the restaurant for a piece of cake and a coffee. The waiter was rather grumpy in his manner, which didn't bother us at first. However, when we took our order, he hit us several times and seemed incredibly annoyed. The cake was also an absolute failure. The apple cake was grated apple with peel and cream and the cream cheese cake tasted like nothing with fat. In addition, the cake and the gelatine were so hard that they almost crumbled. No trace of creaminess. We were really very disappointed!

Unfortunately, the taste of the cake was a total failure and it was also overpriced (€4.50). The staff was also rude and not particularly friendly. Too bad.

Es war der Anlass, daß die Brücke für Radfahrer und Fussgänger frei war. Wir sind dann zum Margaretental spaziert. Nach einer herben Enttäuschung vor einiger Zeit mit dem Abendessen mit oiligen labberigen Bratkartoffeln haben wir die Kaffeetafel getestet. Kaffee kam auch bald ,leider lauwarm und sehr stark und bitter(3,60?), und eine kleine Portion für einen Pott. Nachdem der Kaffee halb leer war kam eine kalte Waffel und ein Frischkäsekuchen der leider für Diabetiker geeignet war und nicht wenig tierische Gelantine , und Aprikosenscheiben aus der Dose. Der Boden war ca 5mm dick aus krümmeligen irgendwas. Das war's dann mit Magerretental!!

An excellent restaurant near Kiel, with a focus on regional cuisine. Located on the Kiel Canal, you can look at ships passing by while you enjoy the delicious food served in generous portions. The service is very attentive and friendly. Attention: people use the same names as each other! The prices are reasonable and consistently cheaper than in my home region. I ate crab soup and fried cod, both of which were just great! Unfortunately there was no room in my stomach for dessert.

Very tasty food, fine wine selection. The location on the canal is particularly beautiful, but the ambience is also right. In addition, a very good price-performance ratio. We'll definitely come back.

A great place and a great location. It's nice that it was so beautifully prepared. However, the cake wouldn't make me come back and the older gentleman in service could be a bit friendlier. But I would like to come back again because of the view and try something hearty. Everyone has a bad day sometimes ;).

We celebrated our 80th birthdays in Margaretental with 50 guests. The celebration started with breakfast and ended with waffles, red jelly and coffee in the late afternoon. The food was delicious, the service was excellent. We and our guests were very satisfied and would like to say thank you to the team!!

The location on the canal is fantastic. The service was completely overwhelmed, after bringing the food and drinks no one came. We had to wait a long time until the waitress finally came after loud calls to take our further drink requests.

You should also write everywhere that there is no hot food at 3 p.m.! The staff immediately told us that we weren't allowed to sit on the covered terrace because they didn't want to get sick! Then she handed us the menu and told us that there was only cake! It doesn't get any worse!

On my special day (birthday) I chose this restaurant for breakfast. After reserving a table by telephone a few days before, the three of us set off on the journey. My impression exceeded and exceeded everything.... Great table, great view, very nice food buffet... great prices, plenty of choice.... not to forget the nice waitresses and waiters who came before, the staff is very nice. Since today, this restaurant has had 2-3 more guests as regulars... warm greetings will be back soon...

The service wasn't attentive enough in my opinion. For example, no bread was served in advance, which is actually a common rule in this restaurant. After we asked about it, they just said they had probably forgotten. Furthermore, no further drinks were asked.

A modern, cozy restaurant. Very good food with a great location right on the canal. You have a direct view of the canal, ships and the other side through the wall of windows. You can take a nice walk along the canal before or after visiting the restaurant. There is a playroom for children, can bring dogs. Can also rent space for festivities.

Highly recommended! A great location with the best view of the Kiel Canal 🤩 The service employees are all very friendly and service-oriented! The entire ambience is harmonious, the furnishings appear to be newly renovated and modernized. A pure feel-good atmosphere. The menu offers a bit of everything (fish, meat, etc.) and is not overloaded. The kitchen knows what it's doing! My panfish with 3 kinds was excellent, the fried potatoes were perfect! Prices are reasonable and completely fine. A place to stay. We'll be back... and have to try the cake, unfortunately it didn't fit in my stomach anymore 😇 Thank you very much!

Wir waren mit den Rädern auf ein Getränk und ein Eis dort. Der Becher Kaffee war ok, der Cappuccino dünn und lieblos angerichtet. Die jeweils 2 Kugeln Eis waren einfachste Truhenware. Der 'Hammer' war die Sahne darauf - hat sich wie billigste Sprühsahne bereits beim Servieren aufgelöst. Beim Abräumen wurde gefragt ob alles ok war... Nein, die Sahne war nicht ok, ist das Sprühsahne ? Antwort: Das ist Gastro-Sahne aus einem Spender... Ok, wie andere schon schrieben, die Lage ist nicht alles ! Wir kommen nicht wieder !

Not again for coffee and ice cream...and anything... We went there with our bikes for a drink and an ice cream. The cup of coffee was ok, the cappuccino was thin and carelessly presented. The 2 scoops of ice cream each were the simplest product from a chest. The 'hammer' was the cream on top - like the cheapest spray cream, it dissolved when served. When clearing away we asked if everything was ok... No, the cream wasn't ok, is that spray cream? Answer: This is gastro cream from a dispenser... Ok, as others have already written, the location isn't everything! We won't be coming back!

CAKE IS SO LIKE, COFFEE DELICIOUS, male service friendly, quick and attentive. Location really nice and ambience tastefully modern! Highly recommended: Margaretental!
