Nordwind Restaurant in Kiel

The location directly on the Kiel-Linie and the elevated roof terrace are probably the main reasons to stop there. Otherwise, average.

We wanted a bite to eat/drink. The restaurant wasn't crowded, as we visited during the weekday afternoon. They brought us the menu, but then we were overlooked/forgotten, or whatever. The waiters were suddenly nowhere to be seen, wherever they were. After waiting 20 minutes in vain to place an order, we left! After all, there are other restaurants... The building unfortunately doesn't look appealing from the outside; it's very broken and worn. Obviously, not much has been invested in maintenance in recent years. Great view/outlook - best location!

We sat up on the roof terrace. It's sooooo old. Some of the windows are broken and kind of dirty. The counter is unsightly, and the clearing station with its yellow crates isn't exactly pleasing to the eye. Despite everything, you get a lovely view of the water and the surrounding area. The service was friendly. The food was okay, not bad, but not terribly exciting either. Down-to-earth and okay. My husband was still a bit hungry after the fish dish. My plaice was well-cooked and there was nothing to complain about. Unfortunately, the table wasn't cleared after the meal. So you just sat there with your empty plate.

The plaice is very fatty, and the bacon looks like it's been cooked – but the staff is friendly and the price is relatively good. We won't be back, but it's worth a try.

I just wanted to grab a quick takeaway and ordered the fried fish sandwich. A few steps further on, a seagull snatched the sandwich from me. So I went back and ordered the same thing again. They were so nice, I got the second one for free. That's not something to be taken for granted. ❤️ Thank you so much 🤩

We really enjoyed it here. The service is super friendly, and the prices are reasonable. When the weather is nice, you can sit outside with a great view of the water. The cake was also amazing!

Great breakfast and good meals. It was my first choice for eating out on the Kiellinie waterfront.

Good selection of food. It tasted very good. I had the vegetarian tarte flambée. You can sit downstairs or upstairs with a view of the water. Friendly service.

My vegetarian burger was unfortunately a bit greasy, but otherwise pretty ok.

The food was okay. But there was a nasty surprise when paying: instead of the generously rounded-up bill, an additional ten euros were added to the card payment. When asked about this, the waitress didn't seem surprised and immediately handed over the ten euros. Be careful! I found that unacceptable.

We had a small nightcap at Nordwind today and then spontaneously ordered something to eat. The drinks (pilsner, shandy, and cola) were all perfectly fine; if there was any criticism, it was perhaps the slightly high prices. The food, on the other hand, was quite reasonably priced. We ordered tomato soup, a fish sandwich, and a baked potato for a total of less than €30. The tomato soup was delicious, and the portions were very generous, considering it was just an appetizer. The fish sandwich was also very tasty, albeit a bit too "complicated" for my taste. Personally, I don't need remoulade on a fish sandwich, but that's a matter of taste. I have no doubt that the Nordwind team would have left it out if I had asked. Overall, the service was very good. The drinks and food were all prepared and served very quickly.

Always a lovely spot to enjoy a stunning view of the Kiel Fjord. The service was very friendly and competent. I wouldn't necessarily come back just for the food. My baked potato was dry, and unfortunately, it lacked a generous portion of sour cream.

The food was very good; I had a salmon burger 🍔 with a really large piece of salmon and it was really juicy. The staff were really friendly, nice, and helpful.

A wonderful place to linger? The food is very good. This time I only went for coffee and half a salmon roll. But it's worth going. Because everything is just right. Good value for money. Nice place. You can pay with card and cash. See you soon, I can only say.

It would be nice if you would stick to your own opening hours and not close shortly after closing time despite the stated times until 10 pm

We had Jägerschnitzel, which tasted very good. Unfortunately, it wasn't filling. The service was very good and prompt. We would recommend it.

10 out of 5 stars, I'd give it 10!!! In my opinion, this is the best herring fillet. If you're on vacation in Kiel, a visit here is a must.

We ordered food, but unfortunately, the service didn't meet our expectations. Unfortunately, they didn't ask if everything was okay or if we needed anything else. We also had to wait a long time for the bill. The portions weren't worth the price. Unfortunately, the fried fish was very greasy, the burger was OK, but the meat was cold. All in all, we expected more. It's a shame.

It was absolutely wonderful! The scrambled eggs are fluffy and well-seasoned, the filter coffee is delicious, and the service is incredibly attentive and friendly. If I lived in Kiel, I'd probably be here every weekend :-)

We had breakfast and tea/coffee here today. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was well prepared and the portions were decent.

We stopped for a quick snack and to pass the time until the next ferry. If you want something warm to drink, you should order an Alster. Children and those sensitive to sugar should not order the homemade lemonade. Too much fruit syrup. Some of the male waiters should leave their bad moods at home. If the kitchen is as clean as the restrooms, then food poisoning is very likely. Unfortunately, I've used train station restrooms that were cleaner and smelled better than the guest restrooms at this restaurant.

The cheesecake was completely soggy. The plum was good. The restroom was one floor up. Dirty, with no toilet paper or paper towels. We alerted the staff, but their reaction was dismissive. We won't be back. A prime location by the water isn't everything!

It's raining... our first time in Kiel. 3 people 2 🐶🐶 The staff is friendly, and the view is interesting despite the rain, with a direct view of the harbor bay. Parking is free on the main street with a 2-hour parking period, at least when it's raining. 🌞 The food was delicious; it was the BBQ burger for around €16 for me with coleslaw salad... although the amount of coleslaw was more like the size of a sauce bowl, so it wasn't worth mentioning. I also drank the 0.5-liter Flensburger Strandlager Pils for €5.60... which was very nice from the draft 🍻 What annoyed me were the extra €4.50 for fries, which I found really expensive for the small bowl. My wife enjoyed the VEGETARIAN tarte flambée for €12.50, and my colleague was also happy with the fried fish for €20. Everything was solid, but a bit underwhelming, otherwise it would have been 4 stars! Nice, warm... with room for improvement 🚀

Restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a winter garden, beautifully situated by the water. The atmosphere is simple and unpretentious. The service is very friendly and attentive, but not intrusive. The food is okay; we were all satisfied, but we didn't consider it anything special or superior in quality/taste to other restaurants. Prices are in the normal mid-range. In the end, the beautiful location was the best thing about the restaurant for us.

The price/performance ratio isn't quite right. It's a bit too expensive. Not everyone is an expert (service), and when asked, the waitress didn't know what types of tea were available. I think a full breakfast at €30 per person is excessive.

From the outside it looked promising... But that was all. Dirty atmosphere, bad food & absolutely unjustified prices in retrospect. Not recommended.

Wir waren heute zum Mittagessen da , Wetter war super Aussicht perfekt. Wir hatten einen Fischteller und ein Backfisch jeweils mit Bratkartoffeln , hier wird nix frisch zubereitet lachs war tot gebraten dazu Beutelgemüse Garnelen spieß war glasig leider war auch noch der eine oder andere Darm vorhanden der Backfisch war tot fritiert genauso wie die Tintenfischringe, das war der Fischsteller für 30 EUR mit Bratkartoffeln. Der backfisch mit bratkartoffeln meiner Frau spiegelte qualitativ den Fischteller wieder. Das das Ambiente war wie verdreckten Toiletten in einem desolaten Zustand. Im Losen und ganzen ist dieses Lokal nicht zu empfehlen aus unserer Sicht heraus ein Fall fürs Gesundheitsamt

For lunch we had a potato with sour cream and vegetables. However, the potato was very small. Latte macchiato with oat milk is very tasty. Unfortunately, the waitress doesn't come to the table to ask for further requests. And the women's toilet is a bit of an imposition.

I was particularly pleasantly surprised by the short waiting time - we work efficiently without compromising quality. The price-performance ratio is also unbeatable. The prices are absolutely fair for the quality and taste offered! The service was exceptionally friendly, attentive and made the stay a real pleasure. Last but not least, the ambience is simply beautiful - a harmonious atmosphere that invites you to feel good. I will definitely come back and can fully recommend this restaurant!

Good spot for a refreshment! The staff was very nice, the decor was rustic and the food was okay. The pricing is typical for the location, so you have to keep that in mind. The toilet… a little catching up to do, ok.

Unfortunately far too overpriced. The staff is trying hard, but there is still room for improvement. Advice on the dishes is clearly sales-oriented, so there was great disappointment when the thawed frozen food and the careless preparation were far from the recommendations. The North Wind salad isn't even close to worth the price.

My partner and I had dinner here yesterday. We decided on herring and plaice. We can't complain about the price. That's appropriate. The waiting time was a little longer, but that wasn't a bad thing. On the one hand, the restaurant was well attended and on the other hand, you can assume that the food was freshly prepared. The restaurant also offers a really great view. The service was also all friendly. We would visit this restaurant again if we visit Kiel again.

We ate here for the second time today. The food is prepared super fresh and you wait your time. But since it was delicious, the wait wasn't a problem for us. We just enjoyed the beautiful view. I can only recommend it! Super nice local

I can recommend this place for people who are walking along the water line (Kiellinie) in Kiel and need a break. I like going there myself.

Roundworms after a visit! Didn't come out of the toilet after the visit. The whole family felt bad afterwards. We were a little unsettled by the strange smell at the table, but then we assumed that it was the waiter's rag that wiped the table. The glasses for the drinks still had drops of water in them and had apparently only been quickly washed in the sink. We ate citizens, shrimp, chicken nuggets with fries. The children complained of construction pain that evening. Our daughter has had flushing worms ever since. Had to go to her doctor. Sorry, but this is a matter for the health department!

Service ok. But not anymore. Locally relatively dirty, during operation. Conclusion: apart from the good location, NOT recommended!

Basically worth a visit. No matter whether cake or lunch. We had lunch and it was tasty and came quickly. The service was great. It was a bit too dirty for me. The tables in the winter garden have a grid on the feet between which the dirt collects. The toilets were freezing cold and only moderately clean. There is some deduction for this.

I visited the restaurant some years ago it is still one of the best restaurants in Kiel in the best spot with an incredible sea view!!! If you find yourself here for some reason, definitely visit it!!!

It's way too cold in the restaurant. The rear doors to the terrace are also open in November!! Very nice employees! Sitting near the counter is uneasy.

The salad dressing, like the remulade, comes from the industry. Why do you actually go out to eat? Anyone can cook something up at home without any cooking experience.

Nice location on the Kiellinie with a large terrace. Staff friendly, good service. The menu has various options. Currywurst and burgers are good, the fries are very good. There is a small salad with the currywurst. Yummy. However, there is a deduction for the toilets, which should be checked more often.

Hello, When I'm in Kiel and we go out to eat, we usually choose Nordwind Restaurant. Everything is always great.

After a 5-hour journey there was sun, sea and a delicious fish sandwich. Splendid

Beautiful location, on the keel line, with a wind-protected terrace at the back. Cappuccino was good, waffle with hot cherries and vanilla ice cream was very tasty. Service was friendly.

The fish sandwich was good, as was the coffee with milk. Here you can sit in a beach chair and look at the keel line and the harbor. Service is very friendly and you get your order quickly. Prices ok.

Also this year on our annual short vacation in my hometown of Kiel, the P E R F E C T E breakfast 😋 in the Nordwind instead of one in the hotel. With a view of the beautiful Kiel Fjord, of course. And 5 stars aren't even enough for the service.

A great restaurant, I've been there 6 times this year to eat especially from Nms. Service and food very great, highly recommended.

First of all I would like to praise the great service. Very friendly, quick and unobtrusive. The food was excellent, we tried the tarte flambée, currywurst, pollock rolls and chicken breast fillet. Everything tasted very tasty. Drinks such as beer and white wine were served well chilled. The restaurant is located right on the water and you can easily watch both the small and large ships. The best view is from a place on the roof terrace. The only negative point: the clogged men's toilet had not been repaired on the second visit. Otherwise we felt very comfortable.

We really enjoyed the afternoon. The food was very good. Price-performance ratio was 👍 good.

It was really disappointing, the fried fish was frozen, the salad side dish was very clear. The waitress seems to be still learning, although she was nice she miscalculated the bill. It had to be paid later, even though it was already overpriced. Embarrassing for this "restaurant". Then I'd rather have currywurst fries 🍟 as frozen goods at overpriced prices. I ate better fried fish in Holtenau, including homemade tartar sauce and a good side salad. Then I know that everything is really freshly prepared. At fair prices❗

I just ate the two driest fish sandwiches of my life. Sorry, dear operator, but with the extremely little sauce on the matjes and fish cake rolls, you deserve this rating. There was so little sauce that the cheap roll soaked it up completely. I'm 41 and have never eaten such dry fish sandwiches in my life, not even when there was no sauce on them. What I'm talking about is the stinginess of the sauce, you're saving at the wrong end. The stinginess is the reason for this rating, not because the rolls almost got stuck in my throat when I swallowed them.

Friendly service, although the waiting time was long, unfortunately the cherries with the waffle were out, maybe a note about the toilet, the loud noise when the door closes is quite unpleasant, our bad luck that we were sitting close to each other, otherwise a good location and well attended ,that speaks for itself. Food (fish, steak, pasta, etc.) was all great and freshly prepared. Staff attentive and friendly. Have been there several times and there really is something for young and old. We can recommend it with a very clear conscience!
