If the view were the best, it would be good. But the food is great too. Friendly, unobtrusive service. Complete. Class.

The wonderful location is of course amazing - the direct view of the sea is simply amazing! The staff was friendly and attentive, the food was tasty. In addition to the actual menu, there were also seasonal dishes. We felt very comfortable.

Here I would like to express my dissatisfaction with the current situation. It wouldn't be right to give a general bad review because we were warmly welcomed and a waiter took our drink order in a friendly manner, which we also received in a friendly manner. But we would also have liked to eat something. The young woman with a black braid asked if we would like to order something. Since I am disabled and can only eat liquid and pureed food, we asked politely whether the pumpkin cream soup on offer had any pieces in it. Very stroppy and annoyed the waitress asked “what kind of pieces”? I explained my problem to her, to which she simply said: "We'll have to see about it." She then disappeared without asking my partner if he would like to order anything, let alone commenting again on the soup. She walked past our table a few times and served other guests. She obviously didn't want to communicate with "disabled people". This is very hurtful. This woman is out of place there!

We were there on November 1st in the evening. The quality of the food was very good. Unfortunately, the menu doesn't say that a salad garnish is included with the main course. So we also ordered a leaf salad. The waitress could have pointed this out, but unfortunately she didn't. All in all, the young lady clearly lacked attention and interest. We also sat next to each other at a “table for two,” which made conversation much more difficult. Some of these tables are in the middle of the room, so you feel like you're constantly being watched by other guests, like at the Muppet Show.

Das essen war lecker aber der service lässt mehr als zu wünschen übrig. ich hab den geburtstag meines opas hier gefeiert und wir sollten nach 1 1/2 stunden gehen. das wurde auf eine nicht sehr netten art und weise kommuniziert

A really great restaurant to linger. You have a great view of the North Sea and kiters. The food is great! We had the Cordon Bleu and the Crispy Chicken Burger and a small Caesar Salad. The only drawback with the burger is that the breading could have been a little spicier, but luckily tastes are different and you can season it yourself with salt and pepper. The salad was super crunchy and the Caesar sauce was very tasty

Great terrace with a fantastic view of the sea, very nice atmosphere, unfortunately I couldn't taste the food. I (and a couple at the next table) sat at the table around 4:15 p.m. for a good 20 minutes and waited for service. The couple at the next table were casually asked by a waitress who was just clearing the tables if they would like to order something, which they said yes. After taking the order, the service staff left without acknowledging my presence. After 30 minutes I left. Probably only groups are happy to serve because they bring in more income. It's easy to overlook some of them here. A service without an all-round view, prudence, attentiveness and friendliness towards the guests is probably better served at the distribution point of a fast food restaurant (drive-in).

A good place to eat well and richly with an outstanding view. Attentive, friendly staff round off the stay. The price-performance ratio is consistent.

Very great restaurant/beach bar near Cuxhaven. Not cheap, but reasonable prices. We shared a soup and a main course (we both had stomach atrophy, so we only pack small portion sizes) - and as a matter of course (unfortunately it wasn't) we were given small plates to share. Gladly again!

It was a completely successful evening! The children (two of them in wheelchairs) were taken into consideration. There are high chairs and booster seats. We were served very courteously throughout - absolutely first class. The food was super tasty and it wasn't a problem that the two youngest shared the children's portion and everyone still got a scoop of ice cream at the end. Absolute recommendation. We would definitely like to come back next time we are in Cuxhaven.

We were here for the “1st Comic Night Cuxhafen”. It was great and well organized too! Of course we also ate beforehand. It was very tasty! The service is attentive and friendly! It gave us a lot of fun! Gladly again!

Went for a coffee on the terrace once in the afternoon, very nice to sit and look at the water (when it's there). Service one was a bit inattentive, but number 2 was very attentive. In the evening the next day we had burgers and fries, very tasty. Dessert creme brulee, a poem. The ambience inside is very nice, the service is attentive and funny, we'll be happy to come back. Prices may be a bit high, but you can treat yourself considering the overall package.

The ambience is nice, the service is nice, but unfortunately the food is disappointing... The Crispy Chicken Burger + Fries is overpriced at €21 for what you get. The chicken is NOT homemade and tastes like cardboard. The almost missing sauce is unseasoned and tastes like nothing. The whole dish was only lukewarm. For 5 people you pay over €140 including drinks (without starter or dessert). Too bad...

Wir waren mehrmals im Kliff zum Essen. Toller Ausblick aufs Meer. Man sollte aber abends besser reservieren. Nachmittags sehr lecker Kuchen. Krabbensuppe sehr lecker. Speisekarte lässt keine Wünsche offen. Hunde sind auch gerne gesehen.

We were there spontaneously today with two children. The food was great. Cordon Blue was super tasty. The service was a disaster: drinks were brought, unfortunately without glasses. Looked at the waiter in a friendly manner and he brought: coasters. When asked again, glasses came. The children's menu should include a scoop of ice cream. The waitress who started clearing our table then cleared the next table after two plates and forgot about us. The children's ice cream was then not available. But the location and food are great.

Really very good. Mega view of the island of Neuwerk, even or especially from inside. The service is often rather rough at restaurants in exposed locations and with a lot of tourists. This is pleasantly not the case here, at least during my stay.

Ein rundum gelungenes Erlebnis. Toller Tisch im Lounge-Bereich mit Aussicht auf den Sonnenuntergang, freundlicher und gut trainierter Service. Erstklassige Speisen und Getränke (Tipp: unbedingt das hauseigene Bier probieren!), genau passende Portionen. Ausreichend aufmerksames Personal, das wir als sehr hundefreundlich! wahrnahmen. Einziger Wermutstropfen: die leckeren Fish & Chips sind gerade nicht auf der Karte. Fazit: immer gerne wieder!

Restaurant with a great ambience and a wonderful view of the Wadden Sea - from almost all seats. Exceptional: the sunset 'suite' indoors. The food is delicious, we tried the steak, burgers, roulades and roasts and were very satisfied. Tip: definitely try the light beer from the Bake brewery. Be sure to make a reservation on weekends and when the weather is good, as the wonderful terrace is sometimes occupied.

Modern and beautifully located restaurant. The food was good and the service was partly attentive. The view of the sunset and the Wadden Sea while eating was unique. There are NO parking options at the restaurant. We had to park for a fee about 1.5km away. Star deduction for that.

Only 3 stars for the service because an employee forgot about the drinks, the desert menu and the bill. Not a word of apology or even a gesture of regret. Otherwise the service team was very friendly. The food was good. Ambiance and view very good. Recommended.

The atmosphere is wonderful with a view of the beach, sea and Neuwerk. But, the operating staff doesn't work at all and is not well organized. Last Sunday, ordered coffee and cake. The coffee was spilled on my girlfriend's clothes. Can happen. When the coffee came on the second attempt, the cake was missing. The cake came after we asked twice, after our coffee had already been drunk. There were 2 mini pieces of dry apple pie that didn't taste good. Very embarrassing for a location with its own bakery in the back. There is still a lot to be done in order to continuously and consistently offer guests good service. We're not going there anymore!

An ambience that fits the surfer style perfectly and is rounded off by first-class food. No waiting time and very friendly staff. And the view is breathtaking at all times.

The food was excellent. The service lady was unfriendly, harsh and really cheeky. We were four women and left around 100 euros there. One person only ordered a drink. The lady didn't like that at all. We were treated discriminatoryly and constantly asked to eat extra, so in the end we were happy to be able to pay and leave. I have never encountered so much unfriendliness anywhere before.

Fast service, great location. The veal schnitzel from the back didn't convince me 100% (breading and meat nothing special), the iced chocolate for dessert tasted like it was made with cheap cocoa drink powder (Schovit from Aldi?). Still 4 stars because of everything else. Also because others at the table were very satisfied, the creme brulee, for example, was great.

We stopped here on our short vacation in Sahlenburg! Visited again! Great location, modern restaurant with a large outdoor terrace, view of Neuwerk! Large selection of food and drinks! Top! Definitely come back on your next vacation!!!

Reconciliatory meal after spending hours looking for a parking space and then the restaurant itself. Googlemaps sent you over an incredibly shabby campsite that you weren't allowed to drive through or walk through with a dog. The food was delicious, although the price was borderline high but still reasonable given the location right by the sea. Service was very mixed, sometimes very committed and friendly (we were even offered blankets because it was quite cool), sometimes completely unacceptable (finger in the soup bowl, disorientated walking around with no apparent destination). Overall, definitely a place that I would recommend and visit again at any time. The menu is creative and offers something for everyone.

Very nice view, nice restaurant. Quiet area. Service was okay, very friendly at the beginning, the waitress was quite disinterested and didn't really say goodbye. The coffee is excellent. Unfortunately, the food wasn't that good, the schnitzel tasted like fish had been fried in the same pan. It wasn't seasoned at all and nothing was made available to season it to your liking. After visiting the restaurant, I also had stomach problems. All in all very greasy.

We had lunch here with a larger group and stayed until late afternoon coffee. We always felt well looked after, every wish was fulfilled by the friendly staff. We were also able to enjoy the great view of the North Sea and the hustle and bustle of the kite surfers in the strong wind.

There is nothing to complain about here. We would like to thank you for a wonderful evening in a cozy restaurant with a great window seat, where we were able to watch the sunset while enjoying an exquisite meal. It was a wonderful evening that I ended with delicious whiskey and red wine. On top of that, there was the really attentive customer service practiced by all service staff. It was simply a place to feel good. The best thing was that we had a little chat inside shortly before the end of the day. Because there is a bond. So highly recommended. Thank you very much.

The café is very nicely located. The staff was nice and friendly. The prices are excessive. Luckily the four of us only ordered something small. The iced chocolate consisted of cocoa with a small scoop of ice cream and whipped cream from a discount store. The cream didn't taste good. We are used to something different from the Itjen pastry shop. The currywurst was good, but just warm enough. The fries were too cold, i.e. lukewarm, and therefore didn't taste good. All in all: You could certainly eat cake from Itjen there. I would think carefully about everything else considering the prices. At Itjen am Wernerwald you can eat cake with cream. Unfortunately without the view. But I can enjoy it 20 minutes later from the beach promenade.

An absolute “Place2B” in Cuxhaven-Sahlenburg. Fantastic location and cozy atmosphere, very friendly and courteous staff. The food was rich and tasty and the drinks were reasonably priced. Absolutely recommended. Terrace open without reservation in good weather, otherwise it's always better to book a table inside.

Annual update: Review remains at 4**** and the deduction still refers to the last section of this review: the selection of dishes on the menu/the missing local dishes. Meanwhile, “Labskaus” doesn’t even appear on the map anymore. We would like more North Sea food and less “mainstream”. Everything else is below. Otherwise, we still agree with the overall opinion. Due to the location, the building and the interior design, the Kliff is a restaurant with a unique selling point! Even if it is criticized more often - we cannot complain about the service. On the contrary, we would like to emphasize that the service was very good! Even if many have forgotten it: the catering industry has been suffering since Corona at the latest. You can be lucky if anyone still works in the restaurant. Now you could say this is also the case in Andean areas. That's true, but this is a restaurant review. The employees are also people and the masses of guests also have to be entertained, so the tone can (unfortunately) sometimes be a little harsher or you may have to wait a little longer. On the subject of pricing: Have read “too expensive” a few times. Please what? You can't expect for 30€ p.p. to receive three courses including drinks and then in the best quality (sustainable, regional, etc.) Please please think about pricing. Most people only see the purchase price of the food. But the price is made up differently: food, staff, water, electricity, heating, disposal costs, insurance, taxes, even the wear and tear of the dishes or furniture have to be taken into account and that's just to get to +/- 0. And hey... tips are still included in your salary. For a bill of €99, saying €100 is true is disrespectful! Yes, everyone has to look where they are and everyone works hard for their money. But if we want to continue to enjoy the luxury of gastronomy, then we have to remain fair. The quality of the drinks and food was unobjectionable! Why deduct a star? For us, this star is made up of two aspects. On the one hand, I don't think it's a good idea to let dogs into the restaurant and place them randomly. Personally, I love dogs and would like to have one, but I am allergic. In this case, the evening ended with swollen, watery eyes and sneezing. Others probably feel the same way too. So I would think conceptually about how to solve this. Optionally so that your four-legged friends can still come into the restaurant with you. The other half of the deducted star relates to the food. Wait - There was nothing to complain about in terms of quality. That's how it is. The food was tasty. It's about the menu/the selection of dishes on offer. In contrast to the rest of the restaurant, the menu has no unique selling point, it lacks character - in a constructive way. It is a standard tourist map. From our point of view, this is absolutely not necessary. On the coast you can probably do without the Wiener Schnitzel, burgers, bowls and the like. We would like to see this improve regional cuisine that doesn't have to consist only of fish. Maybe it's an impulse... We'll definitely be back on our next visit.

The food (roulade with red cabbage and potatoes) was quicker than the drinks. Certainly not freshly prepared, but it still tasted very good. Paying was only possible by walking behind the waitress. If there are no staff, offer fewer tables. Alternatively, self-service would be a better concept here.

Very nice and modern restaurant right on the surfing beach in Sahlenburg. With overwhelming sea views from the terrace and from the restaurant itself. The food almost becomes a minor matter. But the fish soup and the beef roulade with apple red cabbage were also great. However, the goat cheese on the salad was a bit puny. All in all But a top restaurant. Thanks to the careful and very friendly service. The prices are also ok, definitely not too expensive given the location and the quality of the food.

I've been to the cliff twice now. The first time with my husband to eat coffee and cake. We were lucky and got a spot outside on the sun terrace. The view is great. The service that day was friendly, but seemed slightly overwhelmed with her cell phone (for typing in the order). When we observed the other waiters we had the same impression. Many waitresses looked stressed as they walked around among the guests and kept looking at their cell phones. There were a lot of waiters walking around that day, but somehow it seemed like they didn't know what they were doing. When we wanted to pay, it took forever before someone came after asking twice. My next visit was with my girlfriend, this time for dinner and I reserved a table 2 weeks before. When we got there there was already a long line in front of the sun terrace waiting for a seat. We passed it because we had reserved a table. It has to be mentioned that it was great weather, rare for Cuxhaven 😂 So we were looking forward to enjoying the beautiful view and sitting on the terrace. Wrong thought. When I finally caught a waitress after 5 minutes and told her that we had reserved a table, she asked whether we wanted to eat outside or inside. I say “I’d love to be outside.” Her answer was prompt: “Then you have to wait like everyone else.” I say "But I have reserved a table." To which she said, “It doesn’t matter, it only counts for indoors.” So we went in because the queue was really long for a much sought-after spot on the sun terrace. It's a real shame, if I reserve a table, at a location like this they could discuss it on the phone that the reservation doesn't count for the terrace. But now okay. So inside. As with my visit with my husband, I had the impression that the waiters and waitresses seemed overwhelmed. The shop was completely full and it felt like 20 waitresses were slowly walking around between the guests, constantly looking at their cell phones. The conditions were friendly, but somehow they didn't seem like they were enjoying the job. So we ordered our food, which actually took a while before it came. The portions were just enough, but really full, which we think is appropriate when visiting a restaurant, but we weren't. My salmon burger was small and cost €17.90. I was glad that I ordered fried potatoes with it. My girlfriend ordered the potato roll with salad bouquet and vegetables for €17.90. She didn't get a roll, but three flat slices that had probably been cut off from an original roll. The salad bouquet consisted of 3 lettuce leaves. There was also a bit of broccoli, that was it. It's clear that I pay more for my fish, but my girlfriend pays the same price for this... Yes, what was it? Starter? Main course? .... Should pay... Cheeky. We ordered dessert, after which we were sufficiently full. At some point we asked for the bill and we actually had to address the condition for 40 minutes and twice more before someone came to collect. But now we had to pay for a dish that we hadn't ordered, so it had to be canceled. But the waitress couldn't handle that. She had to seek help and disappeared. She was gone. She then came back, but instead of coming to us, she took the order from the next table. At that point we had only waited 40 minutes for the bill. But since she was overwhelmed with her cell phone there too, it took a moment. Then she finally came to us and was still overwhelmed. Another 5 minutes passed before I could finally pay. The first time I didn't pay a tip. Because I was really upset. A pity.

Ich besuchte kürzlich das Restaurant in Strandnähe, das sich direkt neben einer Kite-Schule und einem Hundestrand befindet. Obwohl ich keine Reservierung hatte, wurde mir sofort ein Tisch angeboten, als ich mit meinem Hund ankam. Ich setzte mich, stellte meinem Hund seinen mitgebrachten Wassernapf hin und füllte ihn selbst mit Wasser. Schon bald kam die erste Kellnerin, die offensichtlich erschrocken war und sich nicht traute, sich meinem Tisch zu nähern, weil mein Hund dabei war. Mein Hund ist klein und absolut friedlich. Wenn man an einem Ort arbeitet, der in unmittelbarer Nähe eines Hundestrandes liegt, sollte man darauf vorbereitet sein, dass Gäste oft ihre Hunde mitbringen. Einige Minuten später kam eine andere Kellnerin und nahm meine Bestellung auf. Sie teilte mir jedoch mit, dass ich das Wasser wegkippen müsse, da sie im Restaurant kein Wasser ausschenken dürften. Diese Regelung machte auf mich einen äußerst hundeunfreundlichen Eindruck und hat mir den zum einen den Appetit und zum anderen den Besuch verderbt. Ich habe das Restaurant in der Vergangenheit bereits besucht und damals war es kein Problem, meinen Hund mitzubringen und ihm Wasser zu geben. Leider hat sich die Einstellung des Personals seitdem offenbar geändert. Angesichts dieser hundeunfreundlichen Atmosphäre werde ich das Restaurant in Zukunft meiden.

**A disappointment for dog owners** I recently visited the restaurant near the beach, which is right next to a kite school and a dog beach. Even though I didn't have a reservation, I was immediately offered a table when I arrived with my dog. I sat down, gave my dog ​​the water bowl he had brought with him and filled it with water myself. Soon the first waitress arrived, who was obviously frightened and didn't dare approach my table because my dog ​​was there. My dog ​​is small and absolutely peaceful. If you work at a location that is very close to a dog beach, be prepared for guests to often bring their dogs with them. A few minutes later another waitress came and took my order. However, she informed me that I had to throw the water away as they weren't allowed to serve water in the restaurant. This regulation made an extremely dog-unfriendly impression to me and spoiled my appetite on the one hand and my visit on the other. I have visited the restaurant in the past and back then it was no problem to bring my dog ​​and give him water. Unfortunately, staff attitudes have apparently changed since then. Given this dog-unfriendly atmosphere, I will avoid the restaurant in the future.

Beautiful view. Hot chocolate and a large selection of cakes/tarts are perfect and are offered at standard prices. The food is on the higher side, but at least visually it looks very high quality. We will try this next time. Today was fine A lot of young staff behind and alongside the experienced staff and have been trained, we think that's great :)
