Restaurant Kartoffelhaus in Fehmarn

We were there for dinner. The service was very friendly. The best German food we've had in a long time. The rump steak was cooked to perfection. It was very tasty, and the atmosphere in the restaurant was pleasant.

Tough meat, undercooked fried potatoes, and too greasy. For a "potato house," the food was rather disappointing; I've had better elsewhere. However, the service and ambiance were fine.

Very good service. Friendly. There wasn't a long wait for the food. However, it's disappointing when a potato house serves frozen potato pancakes and fries instead of dishes made with fresh potatoes. Terrible! The pumpkin and potato soup was also a bit bland, but fresh. A shame!

We've been guests on Fehmarn for many years, but we'd never made it to the Kartoffelhaus in Burg. What a mistake! We arrived after 8 p.m. and wanted to grab a quick bite to eat. Since we'd never been to Kartoffelhaus before, and it was very close to our accommodation, we had no other choice. Even though we arrived well after 8 p.m., and they close at 9 p.m., we were still allowed in and served something to eat. The selection of potato-themed dishes is quite extensive, with many daily specials listed on additional boards. For starters, we chose the potato cheese with black bread and onions, as well as the potato and garlic soup. For main courses, we wanted the Mexican potato gnocchi casserole with baked cheese, and the potato casserole with wild salmon, leaf spinach, and baked cheese. Just a few minutes after ordering, our appetizers arrived. I had chosen the potato garlic soup, which was available today on one of the boards as a daily special. A large tureen of hot potato soup sat in front of me. But that was only the first impression, because this creamy, thick soup not only tasted like a simple potato soup, but could easily compete with a company of Russians in terms of garlic. My wife chose the potato cheese with black bread and onions as an appetizer. Actually, that would have been enough for dinner, because a small bowl of this cheese and six slices of fresh whole-grain bread were served on a large wooden board. The potato cheese was a mixture of grated potatoes and grated cheese, with bits of onion, and was pleasantly mild in flavor and quite filling. Barely a quarter of an hour later, the main courses arrived. My wife had opted for the potato casserole with wild salmon and leaf spinach. In the large casserole dish, there were plenty of sliced ​​potatoes, along with lots of pieces of wild salmon and spicy spinach. The cheese layer was also very thick and had a light roasted flavor. The whole thing was pleasantly spicy, too fishy for me personally, but my wife enjoyed it. I was the spicy one that evening and ordered the Mexican potato and gnocchi casserole. Again, this was a large casserole dish with sliced ​​potatoes and gnocchi. Along with it, however, was a spicy chili con carne with plenty of ground beef, kidney beans, and corn. The whole thing, of course, was topped with a thick layer of cheese. Not only was the portion so generous that even I had to struggle, but my Mexican casserole also heated up the inside, so much so that my wife, to her delight, had several beads of sweat on her forehead. Delicious food, a rustic atmosphere, and friendly service. It's a shame we didn't get here sooner.

We went in this afternoon; the menu sounded good. We had potato and pumpkin soup, which was quite bland and tasted more of celery than pumpkin—€6.80, a bit much. The potato pizza—hmmmm, it was more like a potato pancake with corn, onions, tuna, and a bit of cheese than a "pizza." The recipe should be revised and the seasoning should be rethought. Then there were fried potatoes with a piece of herring and 25g of smoked salmon from a packet for €16.80. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant! The garden behind the restaurant consists of four tables and is 5x5m in size.

It was a spontaneous idea to go there for dinner, and it was worth it. A quaint restaurant with women who know what they're doing. The food was delicious, and everything was just right. I'd be happy to go back.

A quiet, somewhat secluded restaurant. The food was tasty, but the price wasn't right. For example, roast pork with vegetables (4 small broccoli, 2 thin slices of meat) cost €17.90 without a side dish, and boiled potatoes cost €3.90 extra, which is excessive. However, it should also be pointed out that some of the minced meat dishes are vegan.

This place is worth a visit, a bit off the beaten track. We sat outside and enjoyed the peace and quiet, despite the busy crowd. The staff is attentive, the menu offers a wide variety of dishes, and we were treated well. If you like potatoes, this is the place for you 💯🙋🏼‍♂️

We couldn't see any ready-made or packaged products. For us: The food was great. No "I stuff myself to the brim" portions, just a normal, filling meal. I was able to vary my dish, sauerfleisch with potato dumplings. Starters were jacket potatoes and garlic dip (I think homemade) and black bread with potato cheese 👍. The potato pizza and casserole were also excellent. The service was super friendly; my wife was initially given a Pilsner instead of Alster. A glass of Sprite was immediately brought, and they apologized. We were able to joke around a bit with the other lady; everyone was very pleasant. I've been vacationing on Fehmarn for 33 years, but unfortunately, this is only the first time I've been to the Kartoffelhaus. Definitely not the last.

Highly recommended! A bit off the beaten track, the outdoor area in the backyard is very quiet, the food is absolutely fabulous and the portions are just right. The restrooms are very clean, and the staff are very friendly. We'd love to come back on our next vacation.

This is my personal opinion!!! The times we've eaten here, there's absolutely nothing to complain about! The ambiance is a matter of taste, that's for sure! But that's only secondary to me. The food comes first; it has to be beautifully presented and taste delicious. That's definitely the case here! The waiters are always friendly and prompt in their actions and reactions! The atmosphere is always stress-free and relaxed, which is how it should be. So, for me, it's a clear decision...I'm always happy to come back!

Anyone who likes potatoes will love this restaurant. The food is truly delicious! We had plaice with fried potatoes and fried potatoes with fried eggs. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. You immediately feel at home and welcome. The value for money is excellent! We'd love to come back on our next vacation to Fehmarn.

Delicious food and friendly service

Very nice little restaurant. I've been there several times and I have to say the potato dishes are very good. It still tastes like potatoes. Not oiled or over-seasoned to hide cheap and bad potatoes. Meat and fish also very good and really tasty. No long-stale prepared mass-produced goods. The service was also absolutely nice and accommodating. My wife and I were very impressed and felt very comfortable. Will definitely be coming back more often. We can only recommend the potato house.

We're almost half-Fehmarn residents, but we've only just discovered this wonderful and cozy house. A very pleasant phone call, the reservation worked immediately...upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Heike...we chose our food, a short wait, and then the food arrived...everything was delicious and the portions were generous... We'd love to come back!

We visited the restaurant based on the good reviews and largely ignored the older, somewhat poorer ones. In reality, the food was very dry and some of it was probably pre-packaged. The value for money isn't right here. The service is okay.

We ended up here “spontaneously” because our original plan had a rest day. We were very satisfied. It was delicious and cozy. Our two children also felt comfortable.

So the food was a disaster, I had the pork medallions in gorgonzola sauce with brokoli and fried potatoes. The meat was fried to death, completely dry and tough, my brokoli was also completely hard and the fried potato was out of the bag, and all for 24 euros. So it's a total flop and definitely don't go there

I just don't think prepared meal restaurants are up to date anymore. I had a potato casserole with curry, chicken and "cocktail fruits", the latter are exactly what you imagine, the candied fruits from a can, the curry sauce was also from a jar or bucket and was over-seasoned in a typical Convience way. The food was okay, but nothing more. An okay ready meal as you know it. The waitress wasn't really interested in you. The prices are also... ok, in a different location it would probably be too expensive.

We received a very friendly welcome (without a reservation) and reliably kept the promise that something would be available in about 20 minutes. Matjes with baked potatoes, matjes with fried potatoes and the daily special "fried cod fillet with fried potatoes and salad" are recommended without exception. My fried potatoes were the best I've had in a long time!

We went to the potato house on Friday after the boat trip without a reservation. The four of us only managed to get a place (the tables are very high, it's hard for my children to eat, there are high chairs for the very little ones). Sometimes there were things and at the end a lollipop. The potato pizza is definitely recommended, very tasty, the other dishes are normal. The Fischlies for the children are ready-made products and rather a small portion. If we're on Fehmarn again, we'll be happy to come back. A good time

Hello, unfortunately it was a disappointment for us. Potato House - you'd think you'd get bombastic potatoes in all varieties. Unfortunately our fried potatoes were out of the bag. The salad is a ready-made mix from a discount store with a watery sauce. And everything unseasoned. A unique visit for us.

Wir waren am ersten Abend unseres Uraubs auf Fehmarn spontan im Kartoffelhaus. Selbst mit zwei großen Hunden war das kein Problem. Die Bedienung war superfreundlich. Das Essen hat gut geschmeckt und wir waren echt begeistert.

We. Middle-aged couple visited this restaurant today. My wife chose the cartollella sagne dish and I chose fried potatoes with herring. Both dishes were excellent. I have never eaten such delicious and fresh herring before. The fried potatoes were outstanding. The potato lasagna was just great and not very spicy either. The atmosphere was very cozy and the service was friendly and pleasant. The whole thing at reasonable prices. We will definitely come back again.

Unfortunately we didn't get to eat because we left before ordering. The food looked excellent on the plates that came from the kitchen, but unfortunately the service was so listless and “stuffy” that we preferred to spend our money elsewhere. A pity.
