Restaurant im Hotel Gundl Alm in Schliersee

After a long bike ride, this is exactly the place you want to stop. For a fair price, you get a generous plate with two schnitzels and perfectly crispy fries – just what you need to refuel. Add to that the stunning view over Spitzingsee, which makes the meal even more enjoyable. The service is warm and friendly, rounding out the experience. A perfect spot to relax and reward yourself after the climb.

The hotel is a bit dated. It has a great location and plenty of parking. Service is attentive and attentive.

Stayed 3 nights at the HotelGundle Alm, 2nd 3rd and 4th June 2025. The restaurant and bar was closed Monday,Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.

I ordered schnitzel with fries and thought to myself: yeah, €20 isn't unusual these days considering the location of some restaurants. But then the waiter came with two large schnitzels, which were simply delicious. I had to fight to finish them all. The fries were crispy and delicious. My wife's side salad looked like the standard salad you'd order at some other restaurants. The visit and the meal were definitely worth it. You should plan a short walk along Lake Spitzingsee afterward to aid digestion. I can't say much about the hotel itself except that all the staff were always friendly, especially the nice lady from Ukraine. Maybe we'll be back one day when we're in the area.

Unfortunately, the food (schnitzel) was undercooked. Some of the meat was still raw. The fries weren't crispy at all. I've rarely had such a bad meal. I can only advise against this restaurant. I can't understand the positive reviews at all.

Of five different dinners, not one was properly prepared. Not to mention delicious. Probably not a trained chef in the kitchen. Unfortunately not recommended.

Unfortunately, it's an absolute failure, schnitzel with fries should probably be the basics in Bavaria, but I can "unfortunately" do it better by borrowing it at home, as well as serving decent wines! As an entrepreneur, I like to pay by card and also receive a reasonable invoice! Neither was the case here! It's very unlikely that the EC device will break these days, but the fact that the cash register doesn't seem to work is very questionable! Please reconsider for the future or consider a different tax model.

We went to the restaurant for dinner with five people last Friday, October 11th. Nico (who has already written a review) and I ordered the classic roast pork. Unfortunately, I have to say that this dish should not be offered in Bavaria. It sounds harsh, but it seemed like there was no experienced chef in the kitchen. The meat looked like it had been pre-cut and not freshly cut off the roast. The dumplings were so hard they were hard to chew - they were probably just warmed up, which was our only explanation. The dark beer sauce had a gelatinous consistency, which is not acceptable in Bavaria. I had my dish exchanged because it was so inedible to me. In exchange I received a schnitzel with fries. The schnitzel was okay, but the fries were very greasy. Basically, we are all very open and ignore even minor mistakes. I hope for the innkeeper's sake that this day was an exception and perhaps the regular chefs were sick. We always evaluate a restaurant in the context of the price range and the concept. The Gundl Alm is not a Michelin restaurant, but a down-to-earth restaurant, which we of course include in our rating. How the previous 4.8 stars out of 25 reviews came about was a mystery to us. On Sunday we went back to the Arabella Alpenhotel, where we also stayed overnight. Since we couldn't get a seat there on Friday evening, we decided on the Gundl restaurant. However, it must be clearly stated that the cuisine in the Arabella Alpenhotel was significantly better, and the prices were only 1-2 € higher. @Gundlwirt: Our goal is not to harm your business. We are partly entrepreneurs ourselves and know how important honest feedback is. However, the kitchen requires significant improvements. Please see this criticism as constructive impetus for improvement. For all new guests, we hope that Friday was just an exception and that the 4.8 star ratings back then also reflect the quality of the restaurant in the future.

Disastrous kitchen. Dark beer sauce with the consistency of gelatin, hard bread and potato dumplings. Never had a worse roast pork.

The food was rather so-so, the onion roast was more than well done and the fried potatoes were actually wedges. The goulash was sometimes very tough. Under no circumstances can you recommend the Willi Schnaps, it's some kind of punched stuff, it even made me feel sick afterwards... The waiting time and the service were okay

Beer and food were okay, sweet pastries were baked goods. Well, okay. The only strange thing is that if you pay by card you get a proper payment. Receives an invoice and a handwritten something if you pay in cash. A rogue who thinks evil.

Were there with a large group of 15 people. The group ordered pretty much half the menu. From the roasted chicken, which contained bones, to the onion roast, which was a fried slice of roast beef, to a schnitzel that had never seen a hammer to knock. Fried potatoes at this location are potato wedges from the deep fryer. To compensate for the bad food, we were offered free drinks, which later turned out to be a 2cl bad Willie. But the fries were good, hence one star. You can see that they have the deep fryer under control.

Even though we arrived just before 9 p.m., we still got food. It tasted great, highly recommended :)

We were disappointed with the price-performance ratio. For these prices you would expect friendly service and good food. The portions were quite small and the quality for the price clearly had room for improvement. If the food is expensive and small, at least it should taste good. The service wasn't very friendly. The location is good.

The two of us stayed in the hotel over New Year's Eve and had a menu for New Year's Eve for €75 per person. booked. This menu included, among other things, live music. When we arrived, we were put in a side room and were alone for the time being, but later three more people joined us. Unfortunately the atmosphere was very bad. Live music played once during the meal for 45 minutes. The rest of the time the band was in the main restaurant and we had a radio playing. The food was far too rich, some of it wasn't freshly prepared and wasn't beautifully presented, as you would imagine for a New Year's Eve dinner at this price. Overall our mood was severely dampened by the atmosphere and the food. Unfortunately no recommendation.

The staff was super nice. The menu was available online (I actually find it very valuable :)), I was immediately struck by the Gundl Alm Schnitzel, accompanied by a Tegernseer Hell. Food was brought to the table quickly, about 15 minutes. Terrace is nice... What more could you want? 😁👍

Everything was great - gladly again!

Wir sind an unserem Anreisetag am Spitzingsee ziemlich ausgehungert, mit Kind, auf der Suche nach Essen und haben uns für die Gundl Alm entschieden. Es lag in direkter Nähe zu unserem Hotel und auch der Spielplatz am See ist in 3 Min. erreichbar. Wir waren die ersten Gäste und wurden sehr herzlich begrüßt. Auf der gemütlichen Terrasse durften wir uns einen Tisch aussuchen und wurden sofort bedient. Selten das man mit Kind so herzlich bedient wird!! Auch wenn sich das Restaurant schnell füllte, kam das Essen bald. Alles war sehr lecker und frisch!! Auch ein extra Wunsch beim Essen für unsere Tochter war überhaupt kein Problem. Der Schnaps am Ende war sehr lecker und rundete das köstliche Essen ab!! Nach dem Essen noch ein kleiner Spaziergang zum See. Kind konnte am Spielplatz spielen und wir gemütlich am See sitzen. Rundum ein wunderbarer Abend!

Wir haben Ende Juli ein Fest dort gefeiert und es war alles wunderschön. Die Chefin hat alle Wünsche erfüllt, die möglich waren, das Servicepersonal war sehr aufmerksam und zuvorkommend. Das Essen war ganz lecker. Dafür noch ein besonders großes Lob an die Küche. Auch auf die Corona Hygienemaßnahmen wurde sehr geachtet. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Wir waren sehr zufrieden mit dem Essen. Uns hat es sehr gut geschmeckt, die Portionen sind groß. Die Mitarbeiter sind super nett gewesen, wir haben uns dort sehr wohl gefühlt.....

Wir haben Käsespätzle und Rotbarsch gegessen und waren sehr zufrieden. Der Wirt war auch sehr freundlich.

Am Grillabend gab es Spareribs und Schaschlik mit 4 Beilagen nach Wunsch. Das Schaschlik. bestand nur aus Fleisch, ohne Zwiebel, Paprika, Speck o. ä., aber Schaschlik ist ja per Definition auch nur ein Fleischspieß. Das Fleisch war allerdings stellenweise verbrannt. Die Spareribs waren so gegart, dass man das Fleisch nicht vom Knochen lösen konnte. Alles war dennoch schmackhaft, Personal ist nett, Ambiente ok. Es ist noch Luft nach oben.

Seit einem Jahr unter neuer Leitung. Respekt, der Innenbereich ist hell und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Der Kaiserschmarrn (gibt es nur für zwei Personen) hat für 3-4 Personen gereicht und war lecker. Die Aussenterrasse lädt mit rustikalen Bänken, Fellen und Decken zum Verweilen bis zum Schluss ein. Schön, dass die Gundl Alm wieder zum Leben erweckt wurde. Viel Erfolg - wir kommen gern wieder

Gute Auswahl schmackhaft zubereiteter Gerichte, sehr nette Gastgeber, zu empfehlen

Das Restaurant vom Hotel ist einfach nur schlecht. Bei uns und bei anderen Gästen dauerte es 1 Stunde bis eine völlig versalzene Suppe kam. Die Hauptspeisen waren ekelhaft. Der Spanferkel Rollbraten von der Tageskarte war alt und ungenießbar, die Spätzle wie der Braten schmeckten extrem nach Knoblauch. Der Schweinebraten ebenso übel, Kartoffelknödel noch roh. Auf Nachfrage warum roh - dann hätten sie noch länger (als 1 Stunde 25 Minuten) warten müssen. Die Forelle und die Bratkartoffeln schwammen in Knoblauchbutter, der Fisch fischelte stark. Das „Medium“-Steak war durch und zäh wie eine Ledersohle, die Kroketten fettig u. nach Knoblauch schmeckend. Die ca. 40 jährige Chefin, offensichtlich aus Osteuropa, war mit den unzufriedenen Gästen völlig überfordert und konnte sich nicht mal entschuldigen. Von anderen unzufriedenen Gästen war zu erfahren, dass ein Betreiberwechsel stattgefunden hat. Die neuen Betreiber hätten vom Hotelfach oder Restaurant/Service nicht die geringste Ahnung.
