WALTER's am See in Schliersee

A shop with potential, but unfortunately already very run-down. It looks incredibly cool on social media, but in person, it's not so inviting. The lounge furniture is already worn and dirty, the cup isn't even clean, and they only serve espresso? The service, however, was friendly and courteous (September 6, 2025). The view is, of course, great; they could make more of it!

I normally eat here every week because I live here and am now greeted with a hug by the waiter. I WAS extremely satisfied. Until the "jr" boss, while I was waiting for my food, came to my table where I was with one of the best singers and musicians from Serbia, who is known worldwide, and took my salt and pepper without comment, said nothing and brought me to a table in a cordoned-off area, even though there was plenty of salt and pepper there! I went after him to ask what he was about and who he was, as he looked like a normal visitor. He replied: "What's your problem? I'm the owner, do you have a problem or do you want one?" Astonished and angry at the same time, he went up to me and asked the waiter who that was? To which the waiters I knew just hung their faces and said, "It's little Junior again who's had a bad night... you just can't do that in a restaurant or anywhere else." There was no apology, quite the opposite: he just laughed and made provocative faces. It's a shame I used to love coming here a lot, but NEVER AGAIN! P.S. The district is so small, you little boss will probably run into me one day and apologize like a MAN. Regards to the lovely staff

This waterfront restaurant-bar is without a doubt the discovery of 2025! Beautifully restored, with direct access to the lake, it exudes a unique atmosphere. The staff is uncomplicated, friendly, and always attentive. The cocktails are delicious – even the non-alcoholic ones, which are surprisingly affordable. We would especially like to highlight the fact that, despite the "adults only" sign, we were allowed to bring our eleven-year-old son onto the terrace – on the condition that he didn't scream or run around. A big thank you for that! An absolute highlight are the nets directly over the water, where you can relax at sunset. We were lucky with the weather and experienced a magical evening. The atmosphere was relaxed and young – lots of young people, but also those "young at heart." There's also a separate area with a pool for hotel guests, where everyone can feel free and relaxed. We will definitely come back, especially for sunset, and hope that autumn will be just as warm and full of magical sunsets here!

Sure, the location and the view are all beautiful, but that's natural and free. However, there's a hefty parking fee: €13 for 2.5 hours. That's pretty decent. The food selection is very limited, but the prices are on the higher end. Somehow, it's not understandable. For those who need it.

Unfriendly staff. Plenty of free tables, so the main thing is to say they're all booked first. Only at the end did they mention that they're only at the bar table.

More show than substance. That's what happens when a bunch of guys who know nothing try to be something. The service is abysmal, and so is the food. What a shame!

We celebrated our baby shower at Walters am See and we're absolutely thrilled! 🍼💛 The team was incredibly friendly and accommodating. We were allowed to decorate everything exactly as we imagined, and in the end, it looked simply stunning. Even though the weather wasn't quite on our side, they had a fantastic lounge where we felt completely at home. The tarte flambée was also delicious; we highly recommend it! Thank you again for letting us celebrate with you. We'd love to come back! 🌸✨

We had good time here. If you want a net you'd have to reserve a first row table, there are only 3 of them. Otherwise one can get in the water from two sides. Pricy and small menu.

Unfortunately, I didn't like the tarte flambée at all; it was very creamy. The prices are quite high, to be honest, but the ambiance and location are nice.

We had dinner here. We arrived without a reservation and wanted a table near the lake, but they were already reserved. After about 10 minutes, we were moved. The views are absolutely beautiful. We waited about 30 minutes for the food, and it was really salty. The drinks were perfectly fine. €29 for a steak and fries is ridiculous in my opinion. Yes, the location is super cool, but the prices are exorbitant. They also have these nets where you lie down, but only if you buy €50 off drinks per hour. Hmmm

The view is priceless, but the food was unfortunately mediocre. The steaks had to be returned because they were inedible, and the pasta was okay, but not worth the price. It's a shame that left a bitter aftertaste to the evening.

It's a shame how such a beautiful natural setting has become a hive of wannabe millionaires and lifestyle types. Tailored to this clientele, there are poor products with correspondingly unfriendly service. If you dare to just have a few drinks, you'll be seated in the back row. It's a shame, but there's some hope that such lifestyle establishments will soon be out of business and normality will return.

Beautiful location and super friendly service. One point deducted for me is that the only people who stayed here were the "young, beautiful, and rich," whose glances at our ordinary outfits unfortunately dampened the mood. We're used to the prices in Frankfurt. The clientele was mostly from the Opera District.

Walter’s am See – stunning lakeside dining! Beautiful spot right on the edge of Lake Schliersee with a relaxed, stylish lounge vibe. You can sit on nets over the water or even book their cozy treehouse for a unique experience. Highly recommend the salmon sashimi – fresh, light, and full of flavor. Great cocktails and wine, all served with a perfect lake view. Only open in summer and weather-dependent, so check ahead. Perfect for sunset drinks and a chilled evening by the water. A true gem in Schliersee!

By far the most beautiful spot on the lake! And I also think that the mostly younger clientele is simply a good thing for the place and shows that gastronomy can be made more modern and contemporary. And where else can you enjoy a bottle of wine and the sunset in a chic atmosphere with chilled music? The young crew around owner Marcel still needs to work on the service, which, while friendly and helpful when things get a bit busier, doesn't quite live up to the standards of a more upscale restaurant. Perhaps an experienced woman as service lead would be helpful, then the somewhat testosterone-fueled guys would be less one-sidedly attentive to their buddies and the female guests 😉 Some criticism lies with the kitchen, which has delivered something between good quality and total failure. How you can make fries as a side dish to a well-cooked steak so hard, dry, and over-salted and at the same time deliver a good Bérôle is a mystery to me. Since the beer garden next door is also apparently served from the kitchen, I suspect they're overwhelmed and understaffed 🙈 Conclusion: Always worth a visit, especially because of the friendly crew, and the rest will surely work itself out. You can imagine the potential a new Schlierseer Hof would have for the town. I hope our town reflects and recognizes this!!

We discovered Walters through an Instagram feed. The staff is super attentive and friendly. The food was delicious, although I would have preferred sourdough bread or something similar for the salad instead of the baguette. The prices are absolutely reasonable for the location, and the view is absolutely spectacular!

I can't agree with the other reviews. Glasses only half-filled, understaffed, dirty tablecloths.

Unfortunately, it's all heavily advertised on Instagram as some kind of beach club. Once you get there, you realize that the entire relaxation area is for hotel guests only. Unfortunately, the trip from Munich was a flop. We were turned away from the daybeds and the jetty. The daybeds on the other side are unfortunately not as great and also shady, and there's a minimum consumption requirement. It's a shame. All the loungers were empty. You couldn't even pay to stay... The staff was very nice, but the trip was still a disappointment. The view is great. You can go there for food or drinks.

Poor service and pretentious crowd

Saw this on Instagram and visiting Munich so made the effort to come across. Very disappointing to say the least. Maybe it was because we were expats or maybe because the staff just didn’t care. We reserved like good people do and we were told we had the table for 1.5hrs as we got the confirmation but got stuck at the back of the place and we decided to leave after 30min. Service was slow. Philip and the manager we think were more interested in chatting than serving. Lots of staff looking lost. They cater toward a very certain crowd - (pretentious). Drinks were slow, food was mediocre and the ambiance was ok. Maybe easier if you’re a German national.

Were there for the decision party. Unfortunately, the Schlierseers missed the chance and the new hotel had no future.

The location is a dream, you can enjoy the delicious drinks not only directly on the lake, but on hammocks above the lake and, if you like, even directly in the lake. The food is excellent and the service is very attentive. We'll be back!

We had a lovely evening with a great view of Lake Schliersee. However, there were some points that made the rating worse. The food generally tasted good, but unfortunately it was only served lukewarm. The staff was generally very nice and tried hard, but in a restaurant with such prices you would expect trained and more attentive staff. All in all, an attempt is made to provide a "high class experience", but this cannot be achieved.

The location is very nice, the food is absolutely terrible. We have never eaten such a bad Swiss sausage salad 🤮 and an underground fitness salad with turkey (€23.50) 😳, which was more of a fruit salad. The waitress made an effort and finally said he could confirm that the food tasted catastrophic.

Great location right on the lake. Good drinks. The waitress (young woman) wasn't that motivated. Last year (at Kai and Florian) the service was perfect.

We attended in a rainy day and were served food within the Hotel at the front of Walters, so this will be a mixture of reviews. The hotel restaurant was amazing. The decade was epic and such a nice place. We ordered food off the Walters menu as well as the Biergarten menu. By far, this was the best food we have had yet in Shliersee. We had the wellness salad (can't remember the name - but it was like a poke bowl). Super fresh and great. Also had the beef goulash with noodles and burger both were great. Service was really good too! Will definitely come again

Ein sehr schöner Platz am See, extrem freundlicher Service und gute Speisenauswahl. Beim Essen fanden wir allerdings die Portionen für mittags zu groß und der Wurstsalat bestand aus einem Berg zu dünn geschnittener Fleischwurstscheiben, auf dem ein weiterer Berg Zwiebelringe lag und alles war umspült von sehr viel Essig - das geht besser. Die Currywurst war lecker, aber auch riesig, die Suppe war top. Wir kommen gerne wieder, aber nächstes Mal teilen wir uns was. ;-)

Restaurant mit dem Seeview. Leckere Speisen und Cocktails ohne Alkohol. Die Hängematten sind sehr toll für Relax.

Its a great location, with a beautiful view. Food in the Biergarten is simple Biergarten fare, and done well. I enjoyed watching all the fish in the crystal clear lake. This is a great place to relax awhile with friends.

Ich hatte das Vergnügen, in diesem Restaurant zu essen und ich war wirklich beeindruckt von der Qualität des Essens und dem ausgezeichneten Service. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam, was dazu beigetragen hat, dass mein Abend zu einem wirklich angenehmen Erlebnis wurde. Das Essen war wirklich außergewöhnlich! Jedes Gericht war mit Liebe und Sorgfalt zubereitet und die Präsentation war unglaublich beeindruckend. Ich habe selten so gut gegessen wie in Walter's Restaurant. Ich kann dieses Restaurant nur empfehlen und werde definitiv wiederkommen, wenn ich das nächste Mal in der Stadt bin. Wenn Sie auf der Suche nach einem wirklich ausgezeichneten Restaurant sind, ist Walter's Restaurant definitiv die perfekte Wahl!

Traumhaftes Wetter, traumhafte Aussicht, sehr aufmerksames Personal, gepflegter Biergarten, leckere Getränke und vorzügliches Essen

Schöne Terrasse, angenehme Atmosphäre, sehr zuvorkomendes Personal. Dass von der eher begrenzten Speisekarte draußen dann die Hälfte aus ist, obwohl eine Reservierung für eine Firmenfeier vorliegt, ist ein Minus.

Sehr schöne Location direkt am See mit Wasserzugang. Die Preise sind vollkommen in Ordnung. Für Weine und Longdrinks zu empfehlen, das Essen können wir nicht beurteilen. Wir hatten Eiskaffee und eine Eisschokolade. Der Kaffee schmeckte total verwässert und die Schokolade irgendwie bitter/abgelaufen. Komischerweise war die Sahne aber okay. Keine Ahnung, jedenfalls schmeckten beide nicht und wir ließen die Hälfte stehen. Aber wie erwähnt kommt man zu dieser Location normalerweise auch nicht um so etwas zu trinken.

Top Lage am See. Essen ist in Ordnung. Das Schnitzel war etwas zu dünn. Die Pommes hätten noch 1 Minute in der Friteuse aushalten müssen, dann wären sie perfekt gewesen. Die Bedienung war freundlich und die Bestellung ist schnell zum Tisch gekommen. Für den Preis könnte man etwas mehr erhalten.1 Stern Abzug wegen der nicht gereinigten Tisch.
