Delicious food in a historical atmosphere 👍

Good for a tourist restaurant. It was quite loud because it was a big room. The food was Franconian, good, middle-class. Service was nice and accommodating.

The atmosphere feels German. My food was ok. I ask for sauerkraut for my sausage and was told they didn’t have it even though it was in my salad. The servers weren’t very friendly. My utensils and cup were placed directly on a dirty table. The Pepsi was served flat as a table. I had to switch to Diet Pepsi so I wasn’t drinking syrup water. My experience may be a one off but it’s the only one I got.

It’s true German food place with nice vibes and great atmosphere. Wine is by glass simple one, nothing fancy, fish and meat for main, some salads and seasonal dishes. Quite busy and better reserve a table. Good for a group gatherings

One of my favorite restaurants in Nuremberg. Great historic building, originally preserved, lots of historical originals. In addition, very good Franconian cuisine and courteous service.

Recommend booking a table as it got very full during dinner. Service was great, beer cold, and food delicious.

Hello, we went to the restaurant for the second time on the way back home from Italy. Second time in Nuremberg stopped to eat. It was great again! The nice Anette, one of the super nice waitresses, was there again. If you love good home cooking, this is the right place for you. Family of four was fed up!! Yummy! Schnitzel, knuckle, dumplings all A1 with stars. We'd love to come back🫶🏼

Veal cordon Bleu was a bit overcooked, but otherwise enjoyable

Typical tourist trap, ambience and service are good but the food is overpriced and the waiting time is very long.

A very nice restaurant, classic and warm atmosphere. We were served very nicely, the food came quickly and it was very tasty. We are full. Lumberjack steak, large salad, sirloin steak with fried egg. Plus a glass of wine, a beer, a whiskey and a water, -90€ The food here is a little more expensive, but you're satisfied. We'll be back.

Very quaint, but so is the food. The meat was at least as old as the furnishings. Small portions for big prices. (Cordon Bleu 5x5 cm with steak fries for €29.00) My colleague sent the onion roast roast back after one bite because a piece of leather would have been easier to chew than this piece of meat. Absolutely no recommendation from us. Sue were so polite and we only had to pay for the Cordon Bleu and our drinks.

I have eaten in this restaurant before and was satisfied then. This time, however, the food was terrible. The Nuremberg bratwursts weren't tasty at all, and the sauerkraut that was served with them was way too sweet. As a result, our dish was in no way reminiscent of the traditional local cuisine as it used to be. The same applies to the service: tables that arrived after us were served faster because they had forgotten our order. After the starters we had to wait 40 minutes for the Nuremberg bratwurst, even though the restaurant was almost empty.

Typical style restaurant, cuisine suited to the type of clientele and extensive menu. Typical dishes present. Fast service, unfortunately a little hasty, not very willing to listen to the customer. This could all be explained by the large number of tables to be served. I recommend booking

Here you can eat your way through the entire Franconian cuisine in a historical ambience. From liver dumpling soup to pork knuckles to Schäufala. It is advisable to reserve a table by telephone.

It was our first time there and we were disappointed. The food, well. The service was unfriendly and snippy. You have to wait half an hour for dessert. The place is too dark for me personally. Conclusion: We won't be coming back!!!

We were there at the beginning of September. The ambience is really very nice. However, we just wanted something to drink and were therefore pushed very briskly to a table.

From far, not the best steak! More disappointing was the rude waiter!

Never in my life we ate in the highly rated restaurant where everything was worse than bad, just terrible. 1. Onion soup. Raw, lightly boiled onions, still crispy in plain water with absolutely no flavor. Piece of stale bread on top, covered with burned cheese, the cheese texture of a shoe sole. This soup was simply inedible. 2. Zander/walleye fish. Main course. I believe it was kept at room temperature couple days, and then in freezer for 5 years. Unpleasant taste and smell. Also, very small piece. I could not eat it. 3. Steak. So tough. We had to saw it to 2mm slices to be able to swallow. 4. Pasta with chantelliers mushrooms. Grossly overcooked. 5. Apple strudel. All the dough layers were hard to the degree that we were puzzled how it was possible to bring the dough to that condition. We just scratched a little apple mass from between the layers. Also, after a while, sun started blinding us through the window. The waiter told us they do not have any curtains to help. Overall - once in a lifetime experience we will never forget how bad it was. The party for 5 people was ruined.

Service and quality good. Food is super tasty.

The food wasn't bad, but far from good. Bread dumplings with chanterelles were simply bland. The side salad was loveless. Unfortunately the staff was stressed and irritable. However, the atmosphere is beautiful.

2024.09: We didn't eat here. On a warm summer day we sat in the courtyard and drank a few good wines. Had nice conversations with the waitresses and enjoyed the ambience in the courtyard. Very nice 👍

Very good restaurant, nice and rustic The prices are perfectly fine and not excessive. I've paid more for food and drink in some villages, but the quality there wasn't nearly as good as it is here. Tip top, can be recommended without hesitation. The only drawback was our small table for two. If 4.5 stars would be fine, that would be my correct rating.

An atmospheric restaurant. Delicious food with good service.

There were 5 of us and we waited 1 hour for the food. Everyone had onion roast beef. In each case the meat was very dry and barely chewable. The white wine was warm and the staff was very unfriendly and arrogant. Will avoid this restaurant in the future.

I ordered the veal with chanterelles. Unfortunately I found the dish tasteless like bland food. Maybe it's suitable for the geriatric guests, but I'm not one. It's not great if I have to season with salt or pepper. Not worth €32...

A lovely place to have something to eat. Yes, busy and maybe not really cheap, but just enjoy the atmosphere there and the good cuisine. Whether you eat meat or fish, it is really well prepared. Also important: friendly employees

A traditional restaurant in the heart of Nuremberg, very popular with tourists. Very beautifully decorated for Christmas. Drinks in 0.3l and 0.4l, prices probably more for 0.5l....0.4l dark beer even if on tap €4.40 The food wasn't anything special for the price, so we expected more. Service was attentive and on point and also probably hungry, had a look at the food being served and watched as the waitress grabbed a chip from the fresh plate and ate it before serving..... found it funny again..... But certainly not every guest thinks that way. Toilets were clean, the frosted glass that forms the cabins allows a lot of views from the outside. And the windows need the cobwebs removed on both sides. Management would have to have the final eye on this. Bottom line: OK for once, but next time in Nuremberg we'll try a different restaurant.

The typical food is very delicious, sausages and a nice place on top of the bridge, but the fact that they charge you a mandatory tip doesn't seem right to me. I voluntarily leave the tip when I consider it.

We sat in the beer garden. Lots of greenery in the city center. Staff very friendly and polite. We had schnitzel with potato salad and a lamb's lettuce with fried bacon and toasted bread. Everything was very tasty. You can eat well there. 👍👍👍👍👍

This restaurant is located inside a beautiful heritage building on top of the river. The food was served almost immediately after ordering. Service is great, and the food is excellent!

Update 3 years later (2024, July) tried again shaufele and had impression was not as good as earlier 😒. Meet wasn't enough tender and skin did not taste specific mushroom taste as I expected and experienced in other restaurants like in Bamberg. A young waiter was very helpful👍

Different prices on the final bill, very different from those shown on the menu. Expensive with ridiculous portions. It is then mandatory to pay a 10% tip on the final bill. A joke for tourists. Totally incompetent waiter.

I was very disappointed with the Heiliggeist Restaurant as I remembered it better. The service was businesslike and my veal schnitzel was warmed and the breading was soft. The fried potatoes were well seasoned, but soft and not crispy. Loveless tourist food and a bit of a rip-off for €28.

I really liked it, the atmosphere is great, the room is huge, tidy and clean with lots of plants. The food is tasty, they give you huge portions. Come hungry 🤗!

The restaurant is very rustic and furnished and decorated to suit the surroundings. The food was very good, although the prices were at the higher end of the scale for what was on offer. There were slight difficulties with the main waiter because he clearly spoke with an accent. I found the appearance of the busboys to be disturbing because at first they weren't even recognizable as such. They were in casual clothing, i.e. sweatpants and T-shirts, which was not very appropriate for such a place. That really spoiled the ambience for me.

Good food at a good price and good service

Price/performance not at all consistent. For 16.50 euros there was a “Caesar salad” which could also resemble a garnish. 28.50 euros for a gourmet pot that was very small and not made of high-quality meat. The staff was nice, but asking if you can clear the plates while people at the table are still eating would be nice.

Service: Von 3 bestellten Getränken wurden 3 falsch geliefert. Essen: Wienerschnitzel hatte Geschmack von Fisch. Frittier-Oel wurde vermutlich vor Wochen das letzte Mal gewechselt. Zwiebelrostbraten war Schuhsohle und die Zwiebeln hatten ebenfalls Geschmack von Fisch. Bratkartoffeln waren nicht gebraten, höchstens kurz in der Pfanne geschwenkt. Würste waren ok. Ich bezweifle das hier ein Koch am Werk war.

Excellent food and treatment. Good quality and price

The beef liver was tough and very stringy, which made cutting difficult. Also it was was too salty. Not only me, but also my friends checked and agreed. Hadnt finished it. One of the waiters mixed two dishes up (gave them out and named them wrongly), we figured it out only after the first bite. Not crucial for some people, but can be important for others who have allergies/religion restrictions.

There was no cola because they forgot to order it. At 7:30 p.m. on a Thursday you had no choice but to tell the customer “it’s not available at the moment”. Ordered as another drink: malt beer… “We don’t have that anymore, it wasn’t asked for and it always turned out badly.” The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. Definitely not a recommendation!

Wonderful food right in the center!

Especially sauerbraten. Gravy universal gravy had nothing to do with sauerbraten. Meat rather tough. Red cabbage without any taste. Prices are completely exaggerated in relation to the performance. As a Nuremberg native, I can only advise against it. My family and I are never going in again.

Rotbier is very good. A charming place. You don't have to wait long for your food, the waiters bring everything efficiently. But because they have a lot to take care of, sometimes they have to ask to come to the table.

My return visit for more Krustenschäufele. Great food and atmosphere, friendly staff, nothing left to desire. Will surely come back.

It feels like half of the potato salad consists of sugar. The purest dessert for bratwurst. If you like American cuisine, you'll love it here, but the food really makes me sick. Very disappointing with the prices. :-(

When the weather is nice in the inner courtyard of the Heilig Geist Spital with reservation for 6 people. Extremely great staff. Quick-witted, funny, but still on point, very good advice on choosing a meal, very quickly. The food is visually very appealing and also very tasty. Franconian specialties, very well made and that also has its (absolutely justifiable) price. Really highly recommended.

Delicious as always. The apple strudel is a “dream”

The atmosphere is really nice, the food was also very tasty, the onion roast was nice and tender and topped with lots of onions, very tasty.

The starter was at least original: an asparagus salad consisting of 5 asparagus spears in vinaigrette. You can do it like that. The sticks could have been peeled a little better. But then: roast onion roast! The meat is fried to death, cooked through to the last fiber and appropriately dry. The onions pulled from the bag through the oil - freshly cooked looks different! The lady from the service saw it the same way and took the dish back without any charge.

The waitress ruined the overall impression of this place. We wanted to order carp and did not notice that the small print on the menu stated that carp is only available in season until April (we were there in May). When we announced our order, the waitress asked several times in a stern voice, “What is written on the menu?” At first we didn’t understand what she meant, we started looking at each other. She repeated several times “what does it say on the menu? What is written on the menu? and then pointed her finger at the small print. It was very unfriendly of her, we felt like stupid children in a lesson with a strict teacher. Then she began to teach that we were pronouncing the sound “r” incorrectly. This was very unpleasant and spoiled the overall impression of the establishment. Perhaps our German is not perfect, but we did not come for a lesson, but for relaxation, and we consider this attitude towards guests unacceptable. The rest is clean and colorful. For lovers of German cuisine it will probably be delicious.

Dish: Liver slices perfect fried potato: crispy, with caraway seeds, without swimming in fat! perfect fried onions: fresh onions, crispy and rosy without being greasy! perfect liver: crispy and tender. Creates a perfect symbiosis with the fried potatoes and fried onions. 5 out of 5 stars.

Authentic German food place in one of the most beautiful areas of all of Nuremberg. The place is a large, very cozy gallery located in an emblematic building in the city. We started the night with a couple of local beers, we continued with a white asparagus cream that was delicious, to continue we ordered a whole asparagus salad since May is the season for this vegetable. We continued with the classic roast sausages that included a potato salad, complemented with a beef stew and closed the night with apple strudel. Excellent place to discover authentic Bavarian cuisine.

The Heilig Geist Spital restaurant impresses with its traditional facilities and a wide range of traditional regional dishes. An excellent place to experience a bit of German culture up close. We didn't have to wait particularly long for our food, even though there were a lot of customers. Unfortunately, this meant that the waiter accidentally brought a large drink instead of a small one and the side dish was completely missing from one dish. Overall, the restaurant was definitely convincing, hence 5 full stars :)

Asparagus with butter sauce and potatoes tastes like nothing and is not filling, and there are far too few potatoes. Overall, everything is just too expensive and not worth it. Rest was OK.

We came with a group. We loved the environment and vibe, a classic place for family or formal activities. The food was fine. We had fried pork chop and steak, the pork tasted good with crispy outside, the steak was on the dry side. I'm not sure this is typical Bavarian cooking.

As a Nuremberg native, I say it's an unbelievable tourist trap. The service is rude and not very customer oriented, you have the feeling that you are just a number. Price-performance is not right. For example, when it came to asparagus with potatoes, there were just four sticks of asparagus, which is extortionate at a price of €18. Atmosphere loud and hectic, I will never go there again and warn against the restaurant

From the moment you walk through the door you get the feeling of history and tradition. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food was a good honest traditional Germanic offer. Prices were reasonable for dining in such a grand place

Recommend the beef liver No. 57, the potatoes that come with the meal are also very delicious. It is difficult for one person to finish one portion. The view from the window seat is very good, and the meal consumption feels much cheaper than in Munich.

A must try if you visit Nuremberg; this restaurant is definitely a must.

During our short holiday, we went to Nuremberg. We didn't want to leave without eating schnitzel. We searched and found. It is very delicious and the ambiance is perfect.

Unfortunately very small portions, service and ambience that could be improved. Some of the dishes were clearly too peppery and the medium steak was done. All in all, unfortunately very disappointing. Especially for the price!
