Wirtshaus Frankenstube in Nürnberg

Live in the neighborhood and had already had bad experiences with the service in the Frankenstube - long waiting times and sometimes the wrong food at the table. But you have to say the problem has been recognized and the service has now improved again and finally does justice to the good food. Nice to sit outside in summer. I've never been inside before because the ambience unfortunately doesn't invite you to linger, you'd have to go there. Update: unfortunately another very disappointing experience on my last visit. Almost an hour of waiting time for a meal is simply too much. Then just make the menu smaller, nobody needs 25 main dishes to choose from, concentrate on the essentials so that the kitchen can send them. The empty ketchup and sauce buckets above the parasol stands as trip protection outside are meant nicely, but inappropriate Basically it looks like someone forgot to clean up, it looked really amateurish and totally devalues ​​the outdoor area.

We were naive and decided to go to a local restaurant as tourists. But unfortunately on Saturday evening we were not alone with our idea... You should have made a reservation. But the pleasantly young, open and very friendly staff made it possible to get to know the very tasty native gastronomy. The absence of fries was great! So my spoiled teenage son had to try the fried potatoes... and he was honestly thrilled!!! Thank you for this taste-educational support! Continued success!

Dear host, if you already offer gluten-free food then you should perhaps find out more about what that means for people with celiac disease. Apparently they didn't, otherwise they wouldn't have served us so shamelessly. It won't be my job to explain this to you. I just want to say that it's a mess to offer gluten-free food and then tell the guests to remove the wheat from the food themselves. Hopefully nothing happens to anyone with them, they are dangerous and ignorant.

Very good selection of vegetarian, vegan and traditional dishes at surprisingly reasonable prices. The two of us spent €50 including tip and both had a drink, a main course, dessert and espresso. This is really great value for money for the location. Recommendation: coconut pannacotta for dessert :) Since there were only two of us, the waitress came a little more often at the beginning to ask us about our choice of food. At first I felt a bit harassed by this. But then it turned out that she wanted to avoid longer waiting times for us, as a large group arrived at that time and was about to order. I found that very unimportant and nice. The furnishings inside are a bit old and sometimes cramped. This means you don't sit quite as comfortably. The toilet is also a bit small and narrow. Hence 1 star deduction. Otherwise a really recommendable restaurant. I'll be back.

We received an excerpt from the menu that was almost too generous for our Christmas party/work and was able to order food (vegan, vegetarian and meat dishes) for 41 people. The food came well packaged, hot and was very tasty. The man who delivered was very friendly. Unfortunately I can't judge the ambience completely, but the pictures on Google maps and streetview, among others, are very appealing. Thanks to the kitchen for our Christmas dinner.

A really nice restaurant a little outside the center. But easy to reach on foot. The menu offers something for everyone. The food was delicious and really reasonably priced. What's particularly great is the large, varied vegan offering, which you wouldn't expect at first glance (cozy corner restaurant). The service is very friendly and happy to accommodate requests.

I love this restaurant. It is located in the middle of Nuremberg, but is not that expensive in terms of price. There are plenty of options here for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans. The service was very attentive and very nice.

I was looking forward to ox cheeks with mashed potatoes... Well... when the food was brought, we first let it go back because it looked like sauerbraten... We were then informed that these were already ox cheeks 🫣 ..The cook then came out of the kitchen with a cooked, gray piece of meat ..that would be the ox cheek - ummmm...Besides, he's been cooking for years and that's always how it comes out of the kitchen! When we visit Nuremberg, we always eat here. There is an exceptionally large selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes. But there is also a large selection for meat lovers. Typically Franconian, there is also a Schäufele.

Wir haben Gestern unter anderem Kalbsleber Berliner Art bestellt . Bekommen haben wir ca. 80 g. Leber (nicht rosa) etwa 100 g. Zwiebeln und kein Apfel . Es waren leider keine Röstzwiebeln ! Reaktion auf meine Reklamation war ...... Das war wie immer !! Das macht man anders , auch wenn man beleidigt ist . Für den Preis erwarte ich ca 180 g. Leber als Hauptbestandteil , nicht Zwiebel als Hauptbestandteil !!!! Schade ... ein nächster Besuch dürfte wohl nicht in Frage kommen .

Für die Qualität ist dieses Restaurant zu billig! Ein Geheimtipp nördlich der Altstadt. Wer einmal dort war kommt wieder. Es kann etwas länger dauern, bis man sein Essen bekommt, aber das Warten lohnt sich! Wir hatten Boeuf Bourginione, Schäuferle, Lammhaxe und ein Cordon Bleu und gingen als vier satte und glückliche Gäste.

I was here for a business lunch at lunchtime. We were able to sit outside because the weather was nice. The menu is large but rather atypical due to a variety of vegetarian and vegan dishes. I've actually always liked the Frankenstube because the diverse range of food on offer, including Franconian and vegetarian dishes, etc., really appealed to me. It's also nice to sit in the "garden". However, on my last visit I was really disappointed: we had reserved a table for 6:30 p.m. (weekdays). However, it took over an hour from our order to the time the food arrived (8:15 p.m.)! My spinach spaetzle with fresh (?) mushrooms was very boring in taste - the spaetzle lacked any flavor or salt. Overall, the portion seemed carelessly put together. In response to my criticism (long waiting time, unsatisfactory food) our waiter (one of two present) apologized, he was friendly and tried hard - and as "compensation" he also offered us a drink on the house (not for the first time there) . Nevertheless, this will be my last visit to the Frankenstube for the time being. Unfortunately, the offer has developed into a negative one. A pity!

The Wirtshaus Frankenstube is what it is: a pub, down-to-earth but contemporary. No chic, no trendy cuisine. The audience is refreshingly mixed. From young to young at heart to those of retirement age, everyone is there and relaxed. I've known the restaurant since 1990 and at its core it's the same: down-to-earth, delicious dishes, fish, meat, vegetarian, vegan everything on offer. Back in 1990, half of the menu was vegetarian! Gluten-free is also declared on the menu, I've heard positive reviews about it, but we haven't been able to test it ourselves yet. Some things are the same as always - the plum spritzer for example - Other things have developed further - the chairs now have cushions e.g I think I will come back more often.

I was there for dinner on Whit Monday. For the dish I ordered sauerbraten with dumpling and red cabbage. It took 15-20 minutes before I could order. The food was served after 1 hour of attendance. The taste of the sauerbraten was very unknown - neither "sour sauce" nor the typical Franconian gingerbread sauce. The portion was very clear: four medallion-sized pieces of beef and a dumpling. On the positive side, the red cabbage was really good The price and performance of this meal are absolutely not right. Two conditions were present. One is very customer-oriented and friendly, the other is more along the lines of: Why are you there? I personally know other places with better service and food in Nuremberg and would prefer to go there in the future. Price-performance ratio isn't right here, although the food prices are generally OK. The drinks prices are no longer low either.

Phew.. where should I start? The Frankenstube was once good, but unfortunately those days are over. Waited 30 minutes for the drinks, about 1 hour for the food. The quality of the food has deteriorated a lot. For example, Krustenschäufele without a real crust, Franconian Sauerbraten has a question mark in terms of taste. A large water costs 5.20 euros, which is simply cheeky. Reservation wasn't on the radar and the service seemed very annoyed.

Delicious as always, Moroccan braised beef with lentils and vegetables and spaetzle, tender, juicy duck leg with crispy skin, dumpling, red cabbage, followed by Danish tart, red wine tiramisu, before a parsley soup with beetroot cream cheese. I'm happy here♥️

The garden and the interior are very beautifully designed. A bit irritating is the break table for the staff right at the entrance, which is often used for cigarette breaks. If I go out to eat, it's only here. The portions are just right and if something was too much, the friendly waitresses would be happy to pack it up to take away. The dishes are neither under- nor over-seasoned. My favorite is the Coq au Vin with a wonderful sauce, the meat falls off the bone and the vegetables are cooked to perfection. I appreciate the family atmosphere here and of course the Franconian beers from Weißenohe and Spalt.

If you want to eat a good Schäufele you can only recommend the Augustiner at Dürrerplatz.

We have now been to the Frankenstube restaurant four times, the food is good, there is a lot of choice of vegetarian and vegan dishes, nice staff, good price-performance ratio.

Die Reservierung war kein Problem, obwohl der Anruf nur eine Stunde vorher geschah - angenehm spontan! Das Essen wurde heiß und schnell serviert und schmeckt hervorragend. Wer fränkische Küche mag, sollte hier unbedingt mal Essen gehen. Das Ambiente passt gut zum Konzept und sorgt für eine gemütliche Atmosphäre. Jetzt zum (meiner Meinung nach) wichtigsten Punkt, dem Service. Hier gibt es absolut nichts zu bemängeln. Wir würden sehr freundlich und einladend empfangen, die Bedienung fand auch kurz darauf statt und die Servicekraft ist wirklich auf Zack! Ein ganz großes Lob an diesen Angestellten und sein Team!!! Davon dürfen sich einige Restaurants noch eine große Scheibe abschneiden. Weiter so! Ich esse gerne wieder dort und kann es wärmstens empfehlen.
